In my business traveling career, I have spent at least 2000 nights in hotel rooms. This undoubtedly was the second worst experience.
Unbeknownst to me, the annual Saskatchewan Agribition farmfest was on with literally thousands of people from rural Saskatchewan staying in the city. I tried my regular place but they were all booked up. I checked Expedia and there was virtually nothing available in the city so I ended up at the north end Thriftlodge.
I don't really know where to begin. At check-in, there was no Lobby or Office to come in out of the cold which was 17 below zero, just a sliding window at face height.
It's a motel not a hotel at a noisy, busy light on Albert Street. I enter my room and immediately notice they did not vacuum up after the previous guests. I start to unpack and as I am putting my toiletries around the vanity sink and move a face towel, a large beetle runs for dear life across the counter. I slam down the heel of my hand to successfully kill it before it escapes to the bedroom thinking it was a cockroach. I succeeded and was mistaken, just a big beetle hiding out in my room for winter.
I go to hang up my shirts and suits. There is no closet or towel rack. Just a shelf above the toilet with towels on top. Underneath is a doweling attached with fixed hangars. Your clothes are hanging over the toilet so you have to sweep them aside to sit down! And no lotion due to COVID!
Fistfights, crashing about and yelling at 3am both nights. Avoid at all costs.

Bad service! For out of province customers they give the worst rooms! They save good room for regulars.even though we paid more price for the room

I cancelled, I called the front desk to ask about the availability of an early check in or changing room and the receptionist was extremely rude. Reading reviews afterwards it would seem I made the right choice.

I always take these reviews with a grain of salt, but SERIOUSLY PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!

First time leaving a "zero-star" review (if there was an option). I called the evening before with my name and reservation dates to request a 1pm (rather than 2pm) check in since I was hoping to check in & freshen up before my 2pm conference. I was told yes.

Upon driving up at 1pm the next day and getting out of my car to walk into the motel office, I was approached by an extremely rude, impatient, and angry older man (cannot call him a gentleman) demanding why I was there. I stated I had called last night to arrange an early check-in and would that still be ok. He immediately cut me off and loudly berated me for 2 solid minutes about how that is impossible, all-the-while with a very angry look on his face.

Looking around, the motel is in a high-crime area not ideal for an out-of towner, family or single person.

I drove to my conference with my heart beating 1000 miles an hour without checking in. I ended up staying at the Super 8 on the east side which was lovely and thankfully had space.

Will be reporting this motel.

The worst stay ever throughout Canada. The front desk person was really very rude and tried to charge us unnecessarily. He don’t know even the C of customer service. Had a huge argument when we tried to cancel it after looking at the place and reviews. Could’ve given negative stars and swear if I can. Meaningless mindless person.

Called in to ask a question and the guy was hostile and angry unprofessional very unprofessional

Pro - the weekend I was there, it was very quiet.
Con - No hot water both mornings I was there - could not shower. When I spoke to front desk dude, he was super rude and didn't care at all. Not being able to shower each day was a HUGE inconvenience.
If you want a cheap shady place to just sleep and carry on, this place works. If you want all amenities to run smoothly, I would not stay here.

Is okay if you stay for a night
Rooms warm water hot
Heater makes noises if you are light sleeper you might not like it
But kinda noisy with poor insulation and up the street. Get a ear plug you should be ok.
Cheap enough for me to overlook those issues

NOT A GREAT PLACE! Night receptionist wanted to charge me twice even though I booked online, thankfully the owner was there in the morning and refunded me! Will never stay again.

Reviews are still accurate. We booked our stay and paid with Booking.com but the receptionnist tried to make us pay twice. He charged us again the cost of the rooms without telling us while refunding our big deposit of 200$. We finally got our money back after 45 minutes of arguing. We suddenly got a refund on our credit card after he logged in on his Booking.com account. He will try to blame it on Booking.com but he is obviously wrong. If you have the option to pay when you arrive you should do that instead of choosing the prepayment. Good luck! He will put up a good fight.

The man that runs the hotel was the rudest most horribls person i have ever dealt with. He had to take 10 mins to tell me about not bringing more than me and the wife in the room. We couldnt get wifi and when we asked to change rooms he said no and told us to leave. Worst place i have ever been too if I could leave 0 stars I would.

Please dont waste your money. Their receptionist has no clue of customer service. If you will book online then she will lie to you and will make you pay twice and if you will ask her why double charges then she will have no answers for that.
At the after arguing for hours she will agree to refund you the money but again she will try to steal your money by asking your card no/expiry date and security code please dont do that because for refund she dont need any of these things. Moreover there office smells like kitchen.

We stayed there last Saturday night (Aug-7-21) and found out that the bed linens of the 2 beds were hairy and stinky (smelled awful upon entrance). The staff was so snotty and not friendly. She just gave only 1 linen instead of 2 and didn’t even say anything! Never recommend to anyone.
