Friendly staff and very thorough care - also convenient hours. We liked that they were upfront with the cost of the treatment options, and provided quotes for treatments that might be needed. Dog was fine afterwards (not too scared or upset) so he was well treated during tests/exam in the back.

Absolutely wonderful staff. Got us in last minute for our cat, who was stressed due to a cross Canada move & lots of travel. Did a thorough exam, and prescribed just what he needed. They answered all our questions and met us with compassion and understanding!
If we lived in Saskatoon this would be our regular vet!

He went from super stressed to able to sleep & relax!

We enrolled in the puppy program and was told the the nuter, regular shots, and all other things would be covered. Nuter still cost us over $350. Still had to pay for shots, as well.

They sold us meds to calm the dog down before visits. We had to pay for them and if we didn't use them they had no patience with the dog. We didn't like using them because he really got down for at least a day after the fact.

Complete waste of money and time.

After we expressed our disappointment with the program, the lady immediately asked if we'd like to sign up for another year.seriously.

This place is a joke and a money grab.

Where was the $88/month going? $1056 for the year and it maybe saved us $600.

Go somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration and extra bills.

Check up and 2 vaccines for my cat were $192… ouch… all fees went up. Last time I was there it was $80 exam, and $20 and $40 for the vaccines. Price jump of $50. Crazy. And I know “3 year” vaccines are the exact same as the 1 year vaccines but they hike up the price since you might not be in again for 3 years (they explained it as “added value” but really just gotta squeeze some extra money out of you since they don’t like that vaccines actually last longer so they can’t get you in every year). I liked going there for consistency but I think I’ll have to look elsewhere from now on.

They care and take time with your pet. Very easy to contact, appointments are on time, great prices compared to Lawson animal hospital.

I’m going to ~try~ to keep this short, but I have a lot to say and I’ve had the last couple months to mull this over - and I’ve only become increasingly angry with the way things have gone down.

I have been taking my dog to Frontier for 3 years, and today after an appointment with the university vet clinic, I am reflecting on the last year that my dog has been having health issues and how she has been failed. I first brought her in last year with an ear infection. I spent quite a bit of money between the the general check up x 2, the ear examination x 2, antibiotics x 2, ear cleaner. This was in the span of two weeks, and the issue really didn’t clear up completely. Complete waste of money because today I found out she had plant matter stuck in her ear canal that was somehow missed twice. It was found and taken care of immediately.

Then, I took her in because there was a lump in her mammary glands. Two separate occasions samples were taken and blood work (not cheap), and results were inconclusive.

Then just in February I had to take her in for lameness in her leg. X-rays were given, a biopsy, bloodwork, etc. AGAIN, after about $2000 all said and done within two weeks, I was given no answers. None. Everything somehow was inconclusive and I was told it could be fungal or cancerous, and just had to have that looming over my head while I waited for a surgeon to look at her at the university (where they were WAY CHEAPER and much more compassionate and actually got me some answers without being too invasive for my dog.

I had quite a few people tell me over the last year to stop going to VCA but I appreciated the hours and they were nice. However, ‘nice’ does not cut it. I am now really questioning competency and because of that, especially the way they charge their clients. Zero integrity.

So, I do NOT recommend this clinic, and after having a good experience finally, I will never set foot back in there.

Dr. Ella 10/10. We brought Artie our goldendoodle to Frontier because he had an infection. She was caring, very thorough, friendly & spent time explaining everything. The other staff were friendly and caring as well. Very pleased with the service we had there.

Very impersonal. Different vet on almost every occasion. Very expensive. After going here for years with my dog today I was told to take my Frenchie somewhere else because they couldn’t see or talk to me until Friday - after they gave me meds the night before to help with her puking constantly and had told me someone would follow up. Small business turned big Corp - typical - lost the level of anyone caring.

The staff are friendly and relaxed, the vet knowledgable and easy to talk to. A safe and welcoming place for my pet

Staff at this vet clinic are very friendly, helpful, and clearly have a deep love of animal companions. They have been supportive when I have made calls to the front desk regarding my animals health and wellness, and they have always given me confidence in the care of my cat. They are upfront about the costs of tests, examinations, and services and work with pet parents about what care plan works best and discuss the potential costs openly so decisions can be made with informed consent.

Great place! Would definitively recommend.

VCA was not our normal vet clinic, but when our dog got bit on a Sunday, VCA was the only place open (besides the ridiculously over priced u of s vet clinic). Went to VCA and automatically knew that we were going to change our clinic. The staff was amazing, the price is not ridiculous, the hours they are open is later than any clinic in the city and the app they have to stay on top of your pets needs is amazing.
Dr. Keen is our main doctor but have been to see multiple doctors there and they have all be friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly they treat our dogs like they are their own. When our dog went in for stitches, they texted us pictures and kept us updated to how she was doing.
I highly recommend switching to this clinic.

Staff is very friendly. They helped guide me in end-of-life procedures for my senior dog and have always been really great when I needed to bring one of my dogs in. I highly recommend them.

The Vet and staff at Frontier are wonderful. Very compassionate in regards to your individual needs. Thank you

They didn't give me any advice on what to do with my dogs limping leg.had to go to another vet.
14 April 2021 4:52
Quite disappointed in this clinic. I have left them after many years with the feeling that running up your vet bill to the maximum they sense will fit you, not your pets needs. I have had two events now that finally made me go somewhere else and now I realize I have wasted years with them. In short details 1) 1st bad experience was partially my fault. Years ago, I bought a "puppy package" that included all required shots and checks through (I believe) the first year of a new pup. I received the 1st shots. Then I started to wonder about the next set, called them and they told me I was overdue, but bring him in anyway. So I did, and without prior warning they gave me a bill, which I reminded them I paid for a puppy package. They said that because I was late, they started all over again (I wasn't aware of that before the appointment). I was accepting that it was equally my fault for being late, but I was expecting an email or phone call reminding me the shots were due. It wasn't till I called them did I know, and I didn't know I had to start all over again, and pay. After much debate, they did refund the cost of the puppy package. I paid for the actual shots given, not the all inclusive package they sold me. I agree I should have been more on top of the shot schedule, but I thought they would let me know since I got emails all the time from them on other things.

2) My other dog had developed a lymphoma. I had them do a biopsy and it was just fatty tissue, nothing to be concerned with. They advised the cost for removal would have been in the thousands, but since it wasn't affecting quality of life, they advised to simply monitor. Accurate, no issues with that. This wasn't an issue, just mentioning this now since it comes up later.

Fast forward a few more years and that same dog began acting strange, avoiding everyone, hiding, crying at night, not eating anything except tiny amounts of water (broth added to trick him to drink it) and tiny morsels of wet food. I suspected a tooth maybe as he had developed bad breath, and was not eating. I decided to take him into Frontier. They advised I run a battery of tests and gave me a pre-determined cost of those tests, and it was everything they could think of, list was extensive. Estimate for the diagnosis only was going to run $940.00. I was sticker shocked at this because there was no treatment involved, just diagnosis. I honestly just didn't trust them because it just seemed wrong (keeping in mind the puppy package fiasco and my suspicions of running bills up). I was certain the bad breath and avoiding of food was pretty obvious clues. I balked at the diagnosis bill and instead, they did a basic diagnosis and advised it was likely a virus and prescribed him antibiotics for a week. They did not feel it was a tooth related problem. After no change for two more weeks, I took him to a different clinic for a 2nd opinion, willing to do anything to help him at that point, money was no object, but I just didn't trust Frontier any longer. The new clinic advised he had to have 5 teeth extracted. They also advised they could remove that lump while doing the teeth extractions for an additional $75.00! My total bill at the new clinic was $935, including diagnosis, dental surgery, lymphoma removal meds.all in, (Original quote $1100, they charged less than the quote). My suspicions about Frontier went from distrust to absolute disgust.

My dog is 100% today, back to his old happy social self. I don't know what to make of the stark differences between the two clinics, but I am left with an impression that they are more interested in the financial side of pet care. They didn't even speculate correctly on what was wrong with my dog. The whole situation really disappointed me, and I have to say I have no reason to ever step foot back in there again as I finally found a clinic I can trust. They act very professional, so it's quite deceiving when you look at the end results of all of this. I am more mad at myself in the end for even bothering with them.

Had to find specialty dog food - after much phoning around, found they had it. Very courteous service, offered to order more - very impressed.

Horrible experience. They put our dog on the wrong meds (Dr Weber). We had to use frontier because our regular vet was closed on the weekend.our dog has allergies and he broke a blood vessel in his ear from shaking his head (hematoma). They put a tube in is ear to help the drainage which was counterproductive instead of draining it properly and putting him on the right meds it created a face infection. Witch doctor Kean prescribe more meds. Finally after calling our regular vet and figure out the right medication for our dog. This is after our third visit and me figure it out what’s the right medication for Our dog allergies Dr Olver give us our third prescription. What would’ve cost A couple hundred dollars end up cost1000$.
We will never return and never recommend this clinic.
Three different Doctors none of them educated enough to help control is allergies.

The staff at VCA Frontier is some of the friendliest people I have ever met. They care about every animal that comes into their clinic. Some might say that the prices are on the higher side but it is because they have higher quality care and better services to assist your every need. Besides having a new expanded clinic, they offer ultrasounds and are now opening up to emergency. I don't know about other pet owners but I avoid the university emergency clinic like the plague. The staff has always been friendly and I have never had a bad experience. They clearly are not in it for the paycheques as they care about every pet that comes in. 10/10 would recommend to family and friends.

Great staff here! It is evident that they love their jobs and all animals. My pup loves going here.

They graciously gave their services as a neutral surrender location for homeless kittens. They were also very clean, and pleasant and helpful, for foster pickup.

I got in really fast, next morning, by booking online. Dr McCrea was super nice to my nervous dog. We had a good experience and even though I went in for an eye infection, there was a thorough check-up. She looked at my dogs eye and then asked me if it was alright because there would be a ~40 fee for the next test she wanted to do. Gave me some advice about some other issues with my dog (weight, teeth). Appreciated! Very nice staff. This will be my permanent vet:)

Great Vet, affordable and they dont sell you on unnecessary treatments or exams. I would strongly recommend this place.

I took my two dogs in today to have their shots and check up. The experience I had with the Vet we saw Dr. Joanna Rybicka was very off-putting. When explaining things to me she used medical terms that I did not understand as I did not go to school to be a vet. When asked to explain she seemed annoyed. I have used this clinic for a while and I honestly don’t think we will be back. This woman needs to learn how to interact with owners and not only the animals.

My dog had a tick drop off him in the semi. Wasn't sure what to do, so took him here. The lady that helped me was super nice! Checked the bite free of charge and showed me what to look for and expect now that the tick's gone. Put my mind at ease so we can keep trucking. Definitely recommend this place!

Front desk was incredible, very friendly. What I didn't like was the feeling I received after stating that my pair of dogs were a breeding pair. Or the question about are you fixing the mom after her first litter seemed like a push rather than a question. So I probably will only use them for quick things such as vaccines, or deworming as a time saver rather than a full diagnostic veterinarian. I don't want to feel like my hired professional is condescending or judgmental towards me. I put a lot of thought and money towards my breeding program. I'm not going into anything blind. I want information, not opinions. After all, it's my debit card that is taking a beating.

Our favourite veterinarians! Worth every penny! Both of our dogs have been going to frontier for 3 years. They even sent photos when our dog woke up from surgery. The entire staff is so kind and considerate and you can truly tell they love animals and their careers!
16 March 2019 2:33
The employees at the clinic doted over my dog and gave her plenty of attention. They were polite and very nice. We didn't have to wait too long to see the vet, and she was great with my dog once we got in to see her. Vet was thorough and friendly.

My husband brought my perfectly healthy loving 1 yr old puppy into this clinic and had her put down for rough playing with my step son. He had on video the incident, the dog jumped off the couch and grabbed him by his sweater sleeve with her TAIL WAGGING! Shes was a big pup. A mastiff. He brought her into the clinic and told the vet that she is aggressive and based on the video they put her down. My family is heartbroken. 3 kids and myself have to now live without our youngest family member because a vet couldn't make the suggestion that death wasnt the answer. Maybe rehome her instead? Vets are supposed to save animals lives not take them for no good reason. This vet isnt interested in saving lives. I'm disgusted
