Wann Izakaya Japanese Gastropub

Calling this place a Gastro pub is misleading. The food was good, but the service and experience paled in comparison.

I had initially ordered a craft beer, and was told the keg was warm, so I got a Sapporo instead. I ordered a second Sapporo, and was instead given a warm pint of the craft beer. On our way out, we were stopped and told by our server that she forgot charge me for the second beer, and she proceeded to charge me for a single beer at the door. I found this soured the mood further.

Food is ok … not too fancy but was good to the palate. Not as impressive as I’d hope it would. Thus the stars … service was good, atmosphere was downer during odd time I guess … maybe if there’s a lot of traffic, then it would be great.

Don’t get the spicy Ramen … or any ramen. Lol … that’s what made their score low.

Ramen broth was very bland and no richness. Ordered spicy tonkatsu ramen but couldn’t taste the spice at all. Wouldn’t go back for ramen.

Have been here a handful of times over the years and each time it is about the same. The food is good but nothing wow-ing me wanting to come here for ramen noodles.

The atmosphere is open and could get loud when there are more people in the restaurant.

The service was as quick as it could be being that there was only the one working the last time I visited and she was hopping around for sure. The food was served warm to hot. For some they are ok with it others not so much.

Server was a massive let down. Forgot or ignored some of the order and never returned to the table for 40+ minutes after bringing the food out. Nothing seemed fresh. Slimy warm farmed atlantic salmon sashimi. Ambiance bordering on a dive. If you have to have sushi in Regina it may be the best place to go but I wouldn't go again. Wasn't overly expensive and portion sizes were fair.

It tastes amazing! I got the spicy tenkatsu and it was just the right amount of spice to flavor. Only issue is cost wise, the food is a little small and the addons are way to much. Beer is priced good. Thanks for the meal.

Spacious restaurant, good food. Fast service. The only downside is paid parking at the back, but I don’t mind because the food is worth it.

Best Japanese food in town with nice and cozy atmosphere, the dish that particularly stood out to me was the sushi. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and the topping like fish or their fruity craft was incredibly fresh its just melt-in-your-mouth tender. Highly recommend this Japanese restaurant to anyone who appreciates exceptional food and a memorable dining experience.

Updated from 2 year old review. (Downgraded from 5 to 2 star). Sushi is tiny and over priced for what you get. Quality of sushi is fine but if you are looking strictly for sushi, this would not be my first choice. More importantly, if you order after the supper rush, expect disappointment. The last handful of orders I've gotten the bottom of the barrel for ingredients. Broth is never good, no black garlic flavour or even the black specs, the eggs (which I always order extra) are essentially just soft boiled eggs (when normally they are soaked I assume overnight or something to give them the intense flavour they normally have). If you get there for peak time, it's fine but if you are expecting the same quality after that, you will be disappointed.

This place.my goodness. Their ramen soups and tapas dishes are all just so tasty. I was there once with someone who ordered the yakisoba and it looked fantastic. Their service has always been great in my experience but I just went in for lunch on Christmas eve and there was only one guy working, covering front of house and kitchen and he knocked it out of the park all on his own.

The food was fantastic, and I enjoyed my meal a lot. Their choice of serving dishes offers a very different experience from most restaurants or bars, one that I appreciated. The service was also amazing - highly recommended.

Had a lunch there and was very glad they have vegan/vegetarian option for those who cant consume pork. Ramen was delicious.

Sushi was ok! I got the tuna maki rolls. But the pork ramen broth tasted watered down and the slices of meat were so thin, it was barely anything.

Placed online through touch bistro ordered at 3pm waited 30min in parking lot for pick up and when I went in the staff had not even processed the order. Not one customer inside, big miss & waste of my time.

It was very good - staff was friendly, service was quick and the food was great. We got Yakisoba noodles, ramen and sake. Same was amazing. They have decent vegan options too.

Unfortunately my review has to change. Today. There's new staff not one person came to ask me how my food was or if I needed anything else. Little disappointing.

Great ramen. Had the miso broth with noodles, pork, corn, green onions and bean sprouts. Fresh and reasonably fast for how busy it was.

Food took a really long time, the waitress kept forgetting who we were, food was sub par, the bathroom reeked like sewer, and the spicy salmon rolls were literally the size of the tip of my thumb. 2 stars only because I liked the design of the interior

The sushi was really good and the ramen bowls have the best broth. Very clean and not too expensive.

Now there's a fine restaurant that has friendly service and prompt too. The environment is very neat and the food is scrumptious.

My favourite ramen and sushi place in Regina. The ramen broth is amazing. We've been going for years and consistently receive amazing food with great service.

Food was below average except for sashimi which was fresh. In each order, some tempura items were fresh and hot while others were cold and stale. Miso soup was cold. The wait staff were friendly but didn't seem experienced. They forgot to bring us water and drinks and some food items. Maybe understaffed. But will not go back as food was underwheming.

The service we had was great! There was only one waitress and it ended up getting pretty busy but she stayed calm, composed and was super efficient. The food came quickly and was pretty tasty.

I'm giving a 5/5 review cause the food is really good. However it is the second time in the last 2 weeks that we visit Wann. And both times several items were unavailable and we were told it is because they share such items with "tipsy samurai" which is also owned and operated by the same owner. It feels as tough Wann is being neglected in favor of Tipsy.

I rated my experience today September 01,2021 as a three star.

Three of us came during lunch rush around 12: 15pm. There were a few tables maybe 6-8 at the time. There was only one lady working at the front. She was struggling to multi-task, which is reasonable due to the the volume. My only complain was that she wasn’t very interactive and didn’t really talk to us the whole time other than when she needed to like asking our order or refilling our water.

Food came fairly quick for a busy lunch. I had the black garlic ramen and we also had some California sushi and shrimp tempura which are really good. Ramen was fair, unexpectedly bland because it looked amazing. Needed more body on the broth, more flavour and some more seasoning.

Would I comeback? Maybe, depending on the mood even though I would eat ramen anytime of the day and the week.

Maybe I had set the bar too high because I’ve had amazing ramen somewhere else before and sifting through the photos, they looked amazing.

What would I recommend to improve the experience? We need more interaction with our server. Maybe put more than one front of house during lunch rush. Test their products more frequently, maybe a bowl everyday before service to check seasoning and quality.

What were the positives? Place look very authentic and immersive. From the cement/stone tables, to the very heavy and beautiful sushi plate, actual ramen bowl and great location being downtown and close to a parkade.

Overall good experience just a little underwhelmed by the food and service. Goodluck and hopefully I’ll see guys again.

Vegan ramen could use improvemwnt. It was a disappointment for the price. We would have liked to see more vegetables in it, it was mostly noodles. I will not be returning for this reason.

Consistently delicious food. Vegan and gluten-free options are available, as well as gluten-free soy sauce. Excellent customer service and our waitress was very attentive.

We were greeted and seated right away, answered any questions we had, tried the spicy tonkotsu, was a good ramen bowl, needed just abit more flavor, the atmosphere was nice and the servers were great

Stingy on the meats (soooo thin) and for 16 bucks spent, only half the boiled egg? Hmmm

A great place to get ramen! Service and food come quick if you are in for lunch and it is always fresh tasting. Great flavors and great presentation in the bowl! Keep up the great work!

VERY GOOD. I like spicy food and they accomplished that. Waitress was very bubbly and happy, in a good mood. Definitely going back.

It was my second visit today. I was very satisfied with my first visit, so I visited again with my wife this time, but I was very disappointed today.
The noodles are not fully cooked and the soup is very salty. The meat was cold.

Ramen is decent quality but the pork belly meat was the thinnest I’ve ever had out of the 20+ ramen places I’ve visited. Prices are higher than average too so you wouldn’t expect them to be so cheap on meat portions.

My girlfriend got two California rolls, which are $9.00 each, and there was barely a handful of food. I showed 5 other people the photo and they agreed it was unreasonable. When she called them to ask for a refund for gouging, the server tried to fight with her over the phone. Save yourself the trouble and don’t order take out from here, as it’s a major rip off. The rolls were the size of a quarter.

I can never take pictures of my food because it's so darn delicious I eat it before I think about bringing my phone out. We came in. It was quiet and staff were friendly. I ordered a Dynamite Bento Box. Miso soup was to die for️ salad was fresh and yummy. The sushi amazing! I'm not a fan of edamame so husband ate most of that. And all for a decent prices lunch and I didn't feel shame after eating like eating fast food! Will come back for more!

I've always wanted to try authentic ramen but I don't have the means to go to Japan. Wann Izakaya is absolutely delicious, absolutely wonderful portion sizes, absolutely lovely staff with a great and fun atmosphere. The restaurant is also taking steps to be environmentally friendly, which is always a plus.

I ordered spicy miso ramen for take out, and it wasn't ramen that I know. I love ramen, and I used to dine in at ramen shops in Vancouver before the pandemic. As an individual who grew up in Japan, I was excited to see ramen on the menu. I know ramen is very difficult dish to make, so I will try other things from this restaurant and decide if I like here or not.

The smell was of sewer when you walked in but you soon forgot about that once your ramen came. Spicy ramen is delicious

Got the ramen, it was good, but honestly not much better than the top instant ramens I've tried. Also wasn't that hot, almost felt like it had been sitting for a while. Which would make sense, because we were at the point of trying to flag down our server to ask if she had forgotten to put our order in by the time we got our food.

The food we had was terrible. It was a noodle bowl with extra noodles, had no real good flavour to it, just tasted like pork stalk, it wasn't good. I had one bite and said nope! My boyfriend said that it depends on who is in the kitchen, that there was a good chef, and a terrible one. We must have had the terrible one. We spent a total of ten minutes there, paid, then went to another restaurant. I also was not impressed by the service, we told the waitress that we were not happy, and she just said "wanna order something else? ". Just not the best experience.

Best version of this type of restaurant in Regina. The press sushi is good, appetizers are great and the spicy poke bowl was nice. The black garlic tonkotsu ramen was pretty gfood as well. Highly recommend.

Favorite place to go in city for ramen. Although they don't have a children's menu, but great for adults

The people there were EXTREMELY nice, so give it a try! But the food (The bowl I ordered) didn't have any flavor. I will try something different when I go back.

Great place, in an open-atmosphere. If you are going at lunch go before noon otherwise the service slows extremely over the noon-rush, and it gets very loud in there once the restaurant fills up.

The food is typical Japanese gastropub fare at alright prices. It's thoughtfully presented food in a hip atmosphere. Service can be really great. But sometimes slow due to how busy they get.

I went to Wann on a Thursday night for dinner and it was wonderful! The servers were pleasant and helpful. We had a number of appetizers and I also ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and everything tasted great! I am a big fan of their ramen, it's a very good comfort food.

Be careful when eating there late at night, it seems like they microwave frozen rice for sushi. Was mushy and tasted not as good as it could be

We visited this restaurant during our first visit to Regina. It has a good casual lounge type of atmosphere. Food were pretty good and prices are ok. If you feel like Japanese and having a ramen appetite, try this place. Oh the rice burger was interesting.

The restaurant was okay, tasty but it's not fresh enough esp the shrimp in assorted sashami. Really plum wine here

One of the hidden jems of Regina. Great environment, great food and great service! Best veggie ramen around!

I was worried that for a while it seemed like there were issues with the spicy tonkatsu. However, talking with staff it was just a supply issue that's since been rectified. Excellent spicy tonkatsu and food in general.

The service was the only redeeming quality about this restaurant. Prices were on the high side for the quality of food. Ramen soup was too salty. Not enough ingredients in the soup. Hardly any veggies or meat. Shame that this is the only choice for ramen in Regina. Would not recommend.

This was some of the best Japanese food in Regina. They also had some different food options not available elsewhere.

The servers were super friendly and made sure that our experience was great. However, food and cost-wise, I feel like there would be places were you could gdt better food at a cheaper price. The bento box (I got the one with the dynamite rolls) was pretty good, but there was only two edamames in it. The yam tempura was pretty hard too.
