Visited Wascana trails on September 16,2023 and it was amazing. The pictures speak for themselves, I highly recommend anyone to visit.

I like to get to Wascana Trails from highway 11 because there is only about 3 km of gravel when taking that route. Coming from the other direction there's 15 km of gravel which is slower, dirtier, and noisier (but has better scenery). The trails lie in a broad flat valley with Wascana Creek winding through it. There are plenty of terrain changes throughout the trail system as the trails sometime go up the sides of the valley walls and there are undulations on the valley floor as well. These trails are laid out in such a way as to make some trails easily navigable, others are easy in most places but moderately difficult in others, and some trails are moderate to difficult. Don't make the mistake of wearing sandals. Happily there are trail maps showing which trails are easy, moderate, and difficult. These maps are posted alongside the trails in many places showing where you are and making it pretty easy to figure out how to get where you want to go next. Some of the trails are through prairie grasses under the open sky. Some are deep in brushy areas where the canopy created by trees gives plenty of shade. There's lots of berry bushes and the choke cherries are ripe in late August. There are many wild flowers and a huge variety of plants. There are a few birds around including birds of prey. And there are unknown critters scampering away in the underbrush frequently. Some trails are wide enough to walk three abreast. Others are so narrow that you place your feet one in front of the other. The area is quite large such that walking on every trail with minimal overlap would take a moderate hiker around 4 hours to accomplish. You can always cut your hike short and return to the parking lot by the most direct route. There are no services (not even a water spigot or an outhouse) so be sure to bring some water with you. There are a few benches in various places (not enough in my opinion). I saw one picnic table not far from the parking lot on the red trail and there a couple tables at the parking lot. I've heard wood ticks can be bad in the spring time on the trails. I saw no mosquitos or flys on three hikes in August. BTW, cell service including LTE is excellent.

Fantastic place to hike or bike near Regina. It is hidden away in the valley about 15 minutes away from the city.

Wascana Trails has many trails. They have signage posted along the trails to help figure out where to go. Beautiful in the fall when the leaves show their colours. Highly recommend.

We like to go to Wascana Trails to see some natural environments. It's close to Regina so it's an easy trip.
