Love this place! Notice something new every time we walk through! Wish they would have night "ghost" tours ;)

Western Development Museum is a hidden historic preservation treasure! You need to enter to appreciate the value. Very close to Prairie Park. It is the history of a whole province lifestyle in retrospect. It includes: train, various historical cars, church, agriculture, industries, etc.
All are well preserved and kept history alive.

Wonderful museum. There is so much to see it's hard to get through it all in one go. Lunch at the restaurant is always great.

Great for toddlers to stomp around.
Huge facility with lots to explore for more studious school age kids.

With some extra "exhibit" space, would maybe benefit from some more active, hands on, science Center or kids museum style displays.

Membership is a great deal with little kids to practice walking inside in quiet environment!

Fantastic! We went to WDM during Metis Days and it was both eye opening and educational. The live Metis musicians that were on stage were very good, and we got to see a neck-eating competition. We also had the opportunity to cook bannock on a stick over an open fire.

We absolutely loved this museum and spent at least 4 hours there. (in mid August 2023 it was open) It`s like a reconstruction of an old boomtown with many shops including heaps of tiny details. Also showed several collections of cars, innovations and ag machinery. Also, many descriptions to understand the development of the "wild west" in Saskatchewan. The boomtown cafè serves breakfast and nice food to get you fuelled for the long tour through all the displays. A must-see for all visitors seeking "wild west impressions".

Museum of the history of Saskatchewan, agriculture, settlement and in general of the province since the beginning of the settlement in all periods, the difficult and the better. Includes a whole street with all the different professions since then and all the vehicles from that period, also the agricultural tools and an authentic steam train. Very beautiful and recommended

Here it is so interesting that it easily kills me for two hours to have fun. You visit here just like in a real 1900s town. It contains almost everything that I can imagine in a town.

What a great museum! The size of the building was surprising and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits. You can walk down the Main Street in Boomtown with many buildings, shops, offices, etc.with collections supporting each one. Not being from the area, I learned a tremendous amount in the Saskatchewan history section and was impressed by the collection of cars, trains and farm machinery. An excellent place for any age.

Amazing place. If you enjoy history don't bring your (young) children because they'll want to rush, whereas you'll want to actually read the displays.
