When our car broke down in Red Deer we were left with no option but to rent a car to get home over 2 hours away. We rented said car at approximately 4: 00 PM. We asked the staff who were working, both of whom were very helpful in explaining the car rental process, conditions, etc what the absolute latest deadline we could have the car back to not be charged for another day, if and when our car was fixed and able to be picked up. They told us as long as we had it back by 8: 00 PM the following day we would not be charged for the second day. After we found out our car was fixed the next day, we called the agency to confirm that if we had the car back by 8 we wouldn’t charged for the second day. It was confirmed over the phone that this would be honoured. We returned the car at around 7: 30 PM to the rental agency after rushing to get there on time after both of us worked that day. We rushed there to try to save money on renting a car for another day as the tow truck bill and repair bill for our car were costly. After dropping the car off, we discovered they had charged us for 2 full days despite the deal we had been told. When attempting to resolve this with the manager, he was incredibly rude and unprofessional is his demeanour. This man should NOT be in customer service as he is a very ignorant and rude human being. He speaks in a condescending and bullying manner. We made a rushed, over 4 hour round trip for nothing! Had we known we’d be charged anyway we could have made the trip the next day when we both had the day off and wouldn’t have had to rush so much. So much for trying to save money. I absolutely recommend you rent elsewhere.
