Avis Car Rental

Got the rental from the Edmonton airport - easy and efficient. Returning the car after hours to this downtown location however was RIDICULOUSLY HARD.

There is no good way finding and the directions given by Avis were wrong. All that is needed is a sign and the RIGHT directions.

If returning a car to here - give yourself an extra 45 minutes just to find where to return to.

We use Avis as a preferred partner but I personally always try and use the city centre location because they are always on time professional and make it our reqests happen.

Today I made a mistake and booked another location in town and instead of having to leave they transfered my rental to their location and I even scored an upgrade.

Car rentals are getting more expensive but customer service is priceless

BEWARE! Friends and I booked a vehicle ~1month in advance online. Friend who was renting gave all information (name, dob, cc, etc). On the day of pick up, ladies at the front said they couldn't rent to him because he was not 25yo (we were trying to get a van). Tried to complain to manager but he was not present and they were rushing us to rent a car (that had 2 seats less and was $200 more) or to leave. Our friend was pressured to get that vehicle because they kept badgering him to leave. Even if the policy was not to rent a van to anyone younger than 25yo I wish they had at least contacted us earlier when we made the booking, or at least not badgered us to leave for the mistake that happened. We would have been able to work things out eventually had there not been that time pressure

I’m most happy renting from the Avis downtown location at City Centre, having tried the other options downtown. They have cars in excellent condition, many are new, all are clean, and customer service is very good. The cars are in a heated parking lot, which is a great convenience during Edmonton winters!

I travelled from Winnipeg to Edmonton couple of weeks ago and rented a vehicle from this location. Andy helped me out, after speaking with his manager Gunjan, I was offered a free upgrade to a Van after I requested since we were moving some furniture. Great Service at this location. We will be renting from this location in the future.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POSTING
The manager changed so has the experience with the location. Bringing the rating down to 2 from 5. The new operator is not friendly, all about undercutting, majority of the time dont have enough cars, tells you does not have car for upgrade then offers upgrade to the customer behind you, and now its more like they are doing you a favour by renting a car to you. Looking for other locations and other rental agencies for future reservations.
Its a shame really, I really liked this location.

Every since new owner operator has stepped in the service has dramatically improved. Alex and his team have stepped up. The cars are always clean and well inspected. Checking in and out is a breeze and no pressure up selling. Thumbs up. If this was a few months ago I would have not given more then a 3.

Ive worked in the customer service field and would have to say they exemplified great customer service. Would rent there again

I am mortified at the service I received from a woman working there. I keep replaying the scenario in my mind asking myself what I did wrong and I don't know why she was so difficult to deal with. I needed a rental for Friday only and was told that if I didn't return it to an entirely different location (I wasn't given an address) then I would be charged for the full weekend. I was chewed out for not giving an alternate phone number (I don't have one) and was told that she was going to get audited if I didn't, so I made one up on the spot and she got really upset with me for it. I don't know what her deal is. I was told I had to put my phone away in case I was recording (I wasn't, and it was face-up on the counter and she would have been able to see if I was), and despite acquiescing to her demand, the woman was rude, patronizing, and short. She never email me my contract like she promised and said she can't use email because her system is old, outdated, and doesn't allow her to. Why someone can't email me my information in 2020 is beyond me. Terrible and belligerent service. Never again.

The current representatives at the location have been extremely helpful during this process for me in terms of obtaining a rental vehicle especially on somewhat short notice and given the economic constraints and other difficulties. They have still done everything to help make this process as smooth as possible. Thank you for that!

My cousin yacine he has been renting cars with different companies for 2 years and he never had a issue with extending every week same price for a month. However these Avis people didn’t want to extend with the same price they charged expensive to extend and while speaking with the employees I experienced poor service with people who don’t know how to talk. I hope the manager understands his employees are unprofessional and if he calls me to apologize and make things right with his buisness. I will delete this review.

Great underground parking are for after hours parking, nice for cold winter days. Also, a variety of cars are always available in this branch.

Rude manager and impossible to find the vehicle. Contract had extra charges and conditions other avis locations dont have

Rented a car there last summer and the entire experience was more disappointing than the recent season of game of thrones. Random fees and random directions galore

A little tricky to return the cars (you have to go to the West Parkade by the Bay on 103 St.and follow the Avis signs). Otherwise, a decent experience.
