Had a terrific experience with National Car Rental at YYC. Executive Aisle checkout was a breeze. Upon return, received incredible service from Arafat, who went above and beyond assisting us, and saving me a good half hour of time with a fuel concern. Would highly recommend National, and Arafat, for your next car rental in the Calgary/Banff area!

Very nice experience. I did a mistake that i used my personal credit card for payment. It was a work related trip. I came back to the rental office and one girl Queen her name, she changed it to my company credit card. Thanks

Choice of cars for executive elite members wasn’t great and the member of staff assisting when picking the car was quite rude. Couldn’t fault the cars as they were all clean and the agent at the gate was friendly and helpful.

This would’ve been a 3 star review if not for the staff when handing the car back, especially Louie who took great care of us and made sure it was a painless process

Feeling very disappointed with National Car Rental in Calgary right now. I’ve been an emerald club member for 20 years and have never had a problem until tonight. I rented a Ford Expedition for a family vacation and when I returned it they told me it had a broken fog light and that I would need to pay for the damage. I’m an honest person and would absolutely accept responsibility had I caused the damage. But I didn’t. I didn’t hit anything and it was parked in secure locations during the entire rental. It has 60,000 kilometers on it, and plenty of scratches and dings which I noted when I picked up the car on the designated sheet. It was dark however and did not specifically look at the fog lights. They have clear lenses so damage would have been difficult to see anyway. I’m upset because I believe the vehicle was damaged before I got it and am now on the hook for the repair because they missed it last time. Lesson learned. Folks, check your cars over really carefully here. National has lost my trust after 20 years of loyalty from me.

The customer service at the National Car Rental of the YYC Airport is superb. Friendly and attentive from the very first interaction all the way through to vehicle return. Also they gave me a vehicle of higher tier than what was previously booked, which was a very nice surprise

I just love Canadians in general, but I recently flew to Calgary and rented a car with my dad and after returning the car and flying back home to the US, I realized I had left my fanny pack with my entire wallet in the car. I communicated the situation to them and they immediately responded with updates as the car was already in use by another traveler. Eventually, they got the car back and searched the car and FOUND IT! They then sent it and it was at my front door in 3 days. WOULD RECOMMEND

My first time renting a car and had a corporate rate through National so I decided to just give it a shot. I’ve heard plenty of bad experiences with various rental companies from friends and family but I have absolutely nothing bad to say about my rental experience with National. Conveniently located inside the airport for easy pick up and drop off. Staff were kind and efficient. No hassles whatsoever while picking up and dropping off. Would definitely rent again through them again:)

Afram went above and beyond to make our experience top notch. He was friendly from the get go, and was the pinnacle of customer service.

I made a HUGE mistake and took our keys with us through customs, and he worked with me to get the keys back and was so helpful walking us through the process. This is why I use National!

Our Mazda was amazing as well. Treated us well on a long road trip.

Reserved a Jeep Wrangler @ YYC Sept 13-23/21 2 months in Advance but unfortunately the one they had reserved for me came back from previous renter with a cracked windshield. Wasn't willing to wait so they offered me a Cadillac XT5 AWD.

Great vehicle! Very comfortable for highway drives and lots of features but did not have Navigation (Jeep did) and we drove thru ice fields to Jasper w/o Cell Service most of the way stopping on side roads todo hikes. So Android Auto/Apple Carplay was useless.

Also when arriving Sept 13 to pickup our vehicle it took 30mins waiting around for our car. There was only 3 groups ahead of us. This process should of been completed quicker.

Dropping off was amazing coming back. Very quick and efficient. Though I lost my iphone8 and think i left it in the charging slot of the car. Opened a ticket with National customer care yesterday. Hopefully I hear back.

I was told i would have the option of nissan rogue or rav 4. They would have suited me. Instead they only had 1 vehicle which was a Kia sportage. This vehicle was so filthy inside it was disgusting! Couldn't even see out the front window it was so dirty. DO NOT RENT FROM NATIONAL. In calgary for 8 days and the vehicle did not have any gps or navigation system. Horrible. If there was 0 stars to rate them, thats what I would give them.

Emerald aisle process had us on the road quickly. We had some confusion upon returning, but Sheryar A was a real professional and gentleman - offering to help move/park the car on our behalf so we could hurry to the terminal.

I use national because they have other locations in smaller AB towns. This makes it convenient so I can drop off the vehicle at another destination while flying into Calgary.

Drop off was a breeze, dropped the keys and walked away, final bill was received within 20 mins of dropping off car.
I would highly recommend National to any business person, no muss no fuss, that's what I like.

Their vehicles are pretty nice, but they are starting to carry some higher than usual miles on the odometer. Also, the company they get to clean their vehicles at this location always leave the glass dirty on the inside.

National Car has always been my go to for rentals. The card are clean and new and are quickly accessible with the Emerald Club membership. For the most part the selection is very good and I often get an upgrade.returns are always quick and smooth too so on the days I'm in a hurry, it is pretty much drop and go.

Definitely happy with National.

Everything was good except for 2 minor details.

The first detail being; I just joined emerald club and booked for the Emerald Isle. I figured it's awesome to have an option. When I got there first thing in the morning there was only one vehicle, so there was no selection whatsoever. Maybe just bad timing on my part? Anyway no big deal.

The second detail; I booked the car for 1 day at a low price and was to be returned to the same location. Unfortunate events happened right before returning the rental and I needed the rental for 1 more day and to return it at another location. I called National and instead of adding 1 day at the higher price, they cancelled my original booking and charged me 2 days at the higher price. If I knew this was going to happen, I would have returned the car to the original location on the original date and started a new rental for 1 day to save almost a hundred dollars.

Had a rental back in Oct, 2020.
Employees are fantastic and accommodating at this location and I would rate this location as one of the best National airport locations in Canada. Cars are clean and well-maintained.

One little advise is they can put a printer at the garage exit gate since I was told that I need to get a copy of rental agreement at the counter only.
Sometimes travelers may prefer to have an actual copy of the agreement when they are on a road trip or need to cross the border.

Had an emerald aisle reservation and emerald aisle status. However was not able to just grab a car from the Aisle as they were all locked and had to go through the normal experience. During a pandemic is when emerald aisle should work.

During the rental had a flat tire. Service to change the tire was fast though not complimentary. The National representative then transferred me to a nearby Enterprise store to get a replacement. Enterprise, despite owning National was unable to find my reservation. The Enterprise representative stated his software can’t see National reservations.

Just used the National mobile app to book a replacement car at the airport. There the experience was less abnormal. Told the receiving representative about the flat tire. Then walked to the emerald aisle where the cars were unlocked this time.

At the exit from the emerald aisle, I was interrogated as to whether this was a business rental or leisure rental. I knew I had booked it as leisure and even had evidence on my phone (the corporate contract was listed as Emerald Aisle). Yet the representative insisted it was booked as business.

She said that during COVID, travelers from the US often book as business in order to skirt mandatory quarantine. Note that by this time I had been in Canada for nearly three weeks. She insisted that she was not discriminating against me because I had a California drivers license.

4 stars because both cars were all wheel drive vehicles that gripped the icy roads like suction cups on glass. Didn’t slide once. This is a credit to this store for offering real SUVs. One star deducted for the less than stellar service.

While I am a Canadian, my advice to National and other travel professionals in Canada is to start being nicer to foreigners. They didn’t create the pandemic. And when the pandemic ends they will remember who was kind and unkind.

I am a member of National Car rental and love the Emerald Aisle as it is quick and convenient. I completely understand that Covid has affected the Hospitality & tourism sector; what I don't understand is their costing structure. I had a car rental for 4 days, and wanted to extend and when on the app and the price they wanted to charge me for the one day was $285 which was $100 more than my 4 day rental. The worst part is that if you made a new reservation for that 1 day which I ended up doing it was only $58. I understand that the rate for extending may be slightly different but that $285 is extortion. My experience is always great with you guys, but the cost to extend just seems a little to crazy for my liking

I booked a mid-size car due to the length of the rental (two weeks). When I arrived there were no mid-sized cars available. I was told i could take a compact car, full-size truck, or van. Not sure what the point is to reserve a specific vehicle if you're just going to ignore it. This is not the first time this has happened.

Made a reservation for a wrangler 2 weeks ago so I can travel with my family (3 years old toddler and 4 months old baby) to Jasper park one way. Called the agent 3 days in advance to request for snow tyres as we heard the weather at the mountains was getting bad. The agent we called said no snow tyres were available for this car and offered a larger car Dodge Durango for a higher price with snow tyres and so we booked it. We made it to the counter at Calgary airport and Rudy tells us that they don’t do snow tyres for cars that are traveling one way as they need them back, that sounded weird and asked for the manager. Manager comes (never introduced himself so we don’t know the name) tells us that the drop off place is a franchise and they will never take the car back and for that reason cannot give us snow tyres. So for a company that is willing to let go a full car but not the snow tyres I find this big BS.manager continues saying whatever else was coming to his head.knowing that national is the only company that has drop off in Jasper we had no other options but to take what they had available and drive an additional 2 hours through Edmonton to be safer. Manager never apologized for the inconvenience and when confronted said they will not charge for the snowtyres (smarta$$) and then offered the astronomical amount of 10% off. Rudy takes another 20 minutes to complete the transaction and then I ask him if the car has navigation, he says no, I asked him what model is it and says 2020, I said are you sure no navigation he looks around and says yes no navigation.so I purchase a gps.guess what? Car had navigation and the gps was not even turning on.at that point I was so tired and had another 7 hours drive ahead of me that didn’t want to return back. This is the service at national Calgary.the car was clean and fine. Avoid if you can as there are better companies out there with much better service or at least more ethical.

Mike Orr, of National Car Rental, was very helpful in arranging my last car rental in Alberta.
Certain issues arose in trying to make the car rental online.
He cut through all the problems and it was arranged promptly and at a very reasonable price.
I will certainly use National Car when I rent again in Alberta.

National Car Rental is my go to rental company. And after my last experience.definitely my favourite! A huge huge thanks to Samet (Sam) Uyar at the Edmonton International airport-National Car Rental. He went above and beyond for myself. He drove me in the rental I was returning to my vehicle that was waiting at park and jet for me. I was asking directions for the bus stop and he said with all my luggage and golf clubs.he would drive me so I didn’t have to pack it into a bus! Wow oh wow.thanks so much. Was a huge help. Thanks again for the amazing customer service. And besides the drive. He was so friendly on my arrival to the return site and made sure everything was ok! He was genuine and truly cared. I highly recommend using National! Thanks again for all everyone at this company does.especially Sam! Appreciate it all! Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Called twice to book a route not available online. Both times I was told I would not be charged extra only to be charged triple the price. After calling to fix the issue, I was told someone would call me back but still no call back after 24 hrs. Would not recommend.

Upgraded the car twice, no questions asked. First time they were out of standard cars so we received a luxury one, but then we had to return it after one day since it was too small for our family. Within minutes we drove out with SUV!

I am generally happy with Enterprise and National car rantals, and do business with them; However, my last experience in the Calgary airport was not as smooth as I had expected.

My reservation process involved an unexpectedly long wait, and at the end, I was not able to redeem any of my free reservation days (had 4 days) and had to pay a lot for this rental. The staff were kind, but had difficulty finding the info on system;

I hope they can solve some of the problems in their systems, and can speed up the pick up process.

All the car in the Emerald Executive row were low grade without the possibility to choose from the other row. The only reason why I select National is that I can pick my car and you removed this feature from your offering.

I am a loyal National car rental customer - until now. I am an executive member and I do so for the benefits - I arrived at the Calgary airport, following the signage to go directly to the parking lot to choose your vehicle - there was barely any selection nobody in the lot to ask for help and I found out no keys in the vehicle - I then walked back into the office to be told I had to receive the keys from the desk - I asked why would you leave a sign up saying proceed to the parking lot, if you are supposed to come and pick up keys from them. - no answer, he just shrugged his shoulders. Then I had to change vehicles because the car I picked was reserved. Then I returned my vehicle 2 days later - the attendant that received me spent almost 15 minutes looking at the vehicle examining the rims looking at the sides of the vehicle in different light on his knees, absolutely absurd. Then I questioned why he was taking so long he mumbled “I’m just doing my job”. I once touted how much I loves National but this was amazing how ignorant they have become. Don’t pay the premium for this kind of service.

I love renting from National, it has always been an extremely stress free, smooth process. Recently I had booked a just hours before my intended pick up. It was available for us directly outside of the National doors. We spoke with an agent and he offered us the choice of three vehicles, which were all upgrades! The best part is that realized while booking that i had earned a free rental so the cost was next to nothing.
I don't rent vehicles often but last summer we booked with them, by recommendation, and it saved us hundreds compared to what we were prepared to pay. It was from that trip that i earned a free rental.
The drop off process literally took one minute and we were on our way.

Nothing better than the Emerald Aisle for speed and convenience to get on your way. The vehicle I chose was perfectly clean, very low mileage, small SUV, which drove and handled great. Return check-in is also super quick and automated, getting you to your flight that much quicker. National has really refined the "process" to perfection of getting in and out.

Arrived at YYC to be told that every rental agency was sold out. Started asking at each desk if they had any no-shows. After the others said no. National said “we’re sold out too, but if you are a member we can help”. 10mins later I was driving away. #aboveandbeyond

Fast, friendly, and very helpful. When subzero temps caused some starting issues with my rental the helpful team there worked with me over the phone to get it resolved. Staff at the Calgary rental site took care of me and had me laughing even though it was 4: 30a and the mercury was well below freezing. 10/10 would rent again.
