We were in St. Albert and looking for something different for Dinner. We found the Taste of Ukraine, which has been in St. Albert for 12 years. Ordered the two course special which was Dill Pickle Soup followed by Chicken 'Bytky" with Perogies and we chose 'Pyrizhky' as our side. The soup was flavourful, and the main entrée was nicely presented. The Mushroom sauce was flavourful and the portion size was decent. The side dishes were good as well. Our waitress, to whom I apologize for forgetting her name, was pleasant and knowledgeable. The meal was a nice change from your average family restaurant and I am glad we stopped and tried it out. The server was fantastic and was helpful in pronouncing the names of the dishes. This is a spot I recommend that if you haven't been to it, you should give it a try some day soon.
We went during pickle fest which I live so my meal was outstanding. The atmosphere and decor are fabulous and authentic. The wait times for service were not so good. My company also didn’t love their meals but because the wait was so long for the food to come every bite was eaten. I still recommend this establishment, just be patient and don’t come too hungry.
Best Ukrainian cuisine in the whole Edmonton, greetings to the chef for the top quality dishes and to the owners for warm and welcoming ambiance and exceptional service!
1st time there and food was so delicious. Can't wait to go back. It started with a little bread and garlic butter. Delicious! We ordered sausage perogies as appetizer. They were divine! Main course was salmon pastry with sauce, potatoes with dill sauce and a Caesar salad. Croutons were melt in your mouth, no joke. My husband had meatballs and gravy and perogies, which he was moaning through each bite. Dessert was a crepe with chocolate and ice cream. Every single bite was a mouth watering masterpiece. I cannot wait to go again. We are planning to bring the in-laws next time. I recommend that if you havent tried this restaurant, you should really go and support this quaint out of the way restaurant for some real at home Ukrainian food. Or if you haven't been in awhile, have a visit again. It's worth your while!
Best Ukrainian food I've ever had (besides my baba's). Everything tastes delicious and fresh, with my favourites being the Kovbasa & Kraut and Meatballs in Gravy. All the sides are delicious; the nalysnyky and pyrizhky are perfect and not overly rich, and the pyrohy are my absolute favourite. So glad their business survived during COVID and so happy to see all the support they had when they did their fundraiser for Ukraine.
We went for their Mother’s Day 3 course meal, and everything was SO GOOD! They catered to my vegetarian needs, swapping out the meat for some other sides. It has such a cozy atmosphere — makes you feel like you’re really in Ukraine!
Taste of Ukraine has authentic, home-cooked taste of Ukrainian favourites. It's like a hug for your stomach. The decor is charming and the serving staff are so pleasant. Order the plate of "just pickles" for a trip down memory lane to baba's house.
Food is very tasty and seems home cooked. Never had Ukrainian food before outside of the odd cabbage roll, and the variety that you can get on your plate with a standard entree was awesome!
I'm usually very critical of Caesars (the clamato drink) made at restaurants and although this lacked any flare (some people like flare I suppose), the taste exceeded my expectations and was a welcome surprise.
Great place if you want a meal that gives you a feeling of home (regardless of you're familiar with the cooking style).
I'll definitely go again as there's lots on the menu I still want to try!
