Booked a wheelchair cab for a specific time, and pickup was nearly 2 hours behind schedule. Calls to dispatch led to apologies and promises that the cab would be about 15-20 mins away. Except it was actually over an hour away at that time. This trip was for someone who has medical needs, and time schedules are important.

Apparently bookings for specific times "aren't guaranteed" but that's a phrase I only heard after complaining about the delay.

I recognize that there are only a few handicapped cabs in the city, and that's why I booked many days in advance. Good business practice would look like only booking as many trips as you can actually manage, rather than saying yes to everything and extremely under delivering on service.

A bit worried about the reviews but the taxi was waiting for us at the ferry terminal (booked online) and the driver was very helpful with our luggage. Vehicle was ok, clean and good driving. There was nobody in sight at the RV hire yard (our destination) but the taxi driver stayed around until we had found someone at the hire company. Will use again.

Driver was OK but cab was stinky and had multiple warning lights on the dash, seat belt wouldn't fasten and car felt unsteady. It was also more expensive than other Nanaimo cab company.

It’s heartbreaking that we never saw and realize that they cheat on us.
I just started my ride today and it was already $4.75 and. 390 meters run.
That was just when I started,
I asked driver “did you started our trip just now and he said yes”
I never suggest anyone use AC Taxi and if you do always check the meter.
I also clicked the picture of the meter when saw it.

Their dispatch has no idea where anything is located or the names of any business. Asked to be picked up at FedEx which was too confusing for them as they didn’t know what fedex was. Asked for a drop off at the GM dealership but he had no idea what that was either. Where do they find these guys?

Cab 3 was called to drive a man to a warming shelter and when the cab arrived, the driver allowed the man to load some of his stuff into the cab and then made him unload it. After unloading his stuff the cab started to drive away and then the man held out more than enough money for the short drive to the warming centre and the cab driver still proceeded to drive away leaving this man cold and unable to get warm. This is absolutely unacceptable. Something needs to be done about this.

Dispatch have dropped my booking twice this month. Have to call back to check and turns out they didn’t send a cab. Wait time is an easy 30 minutes with zero accountability. Phone booking system also down most days I call. We need Uber here.

Only giving this 5 stars so people will see this;
This service is dangerous for women to use in this town, especially if you're indigenous. A month ago, I witnessed a driver harassing a female crossing the street by reving his car towards her twice, when she yelled at him, he hit the gas and took off with her on the hood of the car. When I went to complain on fb they told me "she assaulted the car and tried to kill the driver, " when the two witnesses in the back seat recorded what he did and begged him to stop his car, he refused to. She fell off a street down and her skull was fractured and blood was bleeding into brain (her CT results prove this.) I ran outside and after the taxi after I witnessed her get taken away, and helped her get into the ambulance that my husband called. The most disturbing part was that the taxi driver called his family members, all male, who also drive for ac taxi. Three - four taxis showed up and were glaring at us witnesses (the girls in the back seat the car had to bail out of the moving car once the girl on the hood was thrown off.) One guy said "look, she damaged the hood, " while the cops were watching the witnesses video they recorded. My husband and i walked the two girls home because we were scared for their safety too. Do not use this taxi service.

My phone number is attached to somebody's name. Many drivers got confused and people pretended they called taxi and took mine.
I asked the call center to change the name, they are rude when they answer me that " they can not change it".
Can you do something with the wrong name issue?

A largely aged fleet of suspension-less vehicles. The drivers and dispatchers are friendly. Still, better than Yellow Cabs in Nanaimo.

Great service. They were able to get me a taxi on very short notice. My driver was courteous and got me to my location, on time, and for a decent rate.

When I phoned for a cab it arrived with in five minutes.
The return pick up was ten minutes.
When we stopped at my house the driver took the parcels right to the front door!
He was polite, had a good sense of humor and really liked his job.

Would I use them again, in a heart beat!

Safe, swift and smooth service.but I'm used to Uber prices in Vancouver.

A 13 kms trip from South Wellington to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital cost me 50$.

After reading reviews and seeing a low rating we were sceptical as to what the service would be, we were arriving via harbour air and needed ride to Ladysmith we called a day ahead to request a cab at a specific time, the time was met we were greeted by a friendly driver personable and helped with our luggage cab was clean, when I need a cab AC taxi will be used, don't let the reviews worry we had excellent service

I had a great experience. After reading all the comments of Yellow cab (not good) I went to AC and they were better but not great. I downloaded the app, it worked flawlessly. Ordered it the night before, lots of heads-up 'Your Taxi is on it's way', 'your taxi is here'
on the way home I booked in a Starbucks and used location, it kind of screwed up and I needed to call them to let them know actually where I was, but again Super friendly, not mad at all.
So in the future I will type in Starbucks location, and not trust my location to give the coordinates. The cabs are old, but pretty clean. Both guys were quiet and respectful.
I am happy with my experience. I don't usually write reviews, but they were so brutal. I felt I needed too:)

I always order my cabs from AC. Quick service. Dispatcher is always helpful. Cabs are clean and drivers are friendly. They have never disappointed me. I've been using them for 7 years.

Full disclosure. I am a driver for this company. Most of the drivers I know are good people doing a dangerous job. I will admit there are some crusty ones. We are regularly ripped off by bad clients. I try to stay positive and provide courteous service. Dispatchers catch a lot of abuse, so they can get crusty too at times. Don't let one bad experience turn you off. You could go with yellow, but you'll be waiting a long time. In this time of pandemic, people need to cool off and remember we are all human beings. Welcome aboard if you ride with me.

I was very disappointed in the service I received from AC taxi last night. We were to attend a posh dinner up at VIU which included a lot of wine so we decided to cab it both ways. At 4: 10 I called and booked a cab for 4 people to pick us up at 4: 45. No problem. At 4: 45 we were waiting outside for the cab and I received a text saying a cab was on its way. By 4: 55 with no cab in sight I called the dispatch and was told they were very busy. Because we were 4 it would have to be a van, or two taxis. I told them that was the reason I had booked ahead. But we seemed to be between a rock and a hard place. Thinking 2 taxis would be faster I asked for two. The dispatcher said we would have to wait 15 minutes at least. As the event was scheduled for 5: 00 we canceled the cabs and ended up driving both ways. Wish we had more options here in Nanaimo. Cab companies wonder why Uber gets the business…?

I have long been a customer of this outfit. Depending upon the driver picking you up, things go well, or much worse. A few years ago I requested their van to move some belongings half a dozen blocks. When I closed the rear door and went to ask the driver for five dollars change from a twenty (the meter was just over twelve) he drove away ignoring me. I called to complain about this "automatic tipper" to no avail. Other times they have not shown up at all. Of course every so often you wind up with a superb quality driver. So.

Everytime ive called this company they have answered more quickly then the other nanaimo cab, as well each ride has been lovely and nice. I've had the honour to ride with a lovely woman name punam (poonam) and she has been such a delight. Very kind and considerate! This will be my go to from now on:)

I tried to get a cab for me and my family from the Airport, however they could not pick me up as they didn't have a standard five point harness carseat. I'm not sure how people with children are supposed to get a ride during a time where a personal ride is not an option.

Not the drivers fault.
The last 3 times I called for a cab they sent it to the wrong place! So frustrating. I end up waiting so long since they have to re route the cab back to where I actually am. Tonight it happened again. I am so done with this company.

We called the night before to confirm a taxi for our very early flight. All was good then… this AM we stood outside waiting for it to come. 10mins later I call the office (again) and there is no record of our call. Might miss our flight now…

I booked a schedule ahead of time. It was easy and not confusing. I downloaded their app for easy access.

I got notification on my phone and email for the arrival of the taxi as well as my receipt.

Our taxi was early, good thing we're early too. There's a flexi cover between the driver and passenger.

Our driver was knowledgeable of the place we were going to.

Totally! We loved our experience.

The cab drivers are excellent but it is the rude people on the phone that I can't stand. Short tempered and have the audacity to yell at you because, they know their names are not given. If a rival come ls with better telephone customer service reps, this company will go down.

I am sorry that I have to say this. I was not happy with the last lady that picked my call in as much as I was not the kind of person that complains a lot. I know customer service is not an easy task but, we also learn how to be kind to people that are kind us in their approach. It makes no sense when you try to show people how arrogant or rude you are that alone does not portray a good picture of you in society in as much as I know the lady that picked my call on 5/01/22 but that was not the case. Please, let's try and show respect to other people as that is the key to sustainable communication. I am sorry, that I have to give a review about this company but that was to better the standard when it comes to being polite to people. From my perspective, I think their drivers are very good and polite as I don't have any issue with them at all other than the bad feelings I had with one of the lady that serves as their customer service representative. I still recommend one wonderful lady that always picks my calls. She was very polite and smile at all times. Was wondering if she can be the one to be picking my calls I think my sleep will be wonderful other than that lady that picked my call of which the company must know which lady has the worst character among other workers.

I would rather walk uphill in the snow both ways than use AC Taxi and I have before. Also their drivers are aggressive and swear at me while I am driving my personal vehicle. I have rated 1 star only because no stars is not an option.

Probably the worst company of all time. I called them after getting my groceries and it took them around 8 minutes to even answer the phone (ringing, not busy on the line as it says "line busy" if that's the case). I finally got through and they told me a taxi would arrive "shortly. " 50 minutes past and they still hadn't arrived. I tried calling them to get some kind of ETA multiple times during this wait and couldn't get through to them at all. After 50 minutes past I decided to just walk home through the snow while freezing with 50+ pounds of groceries on me. 30 minutes into my walk home they had finally arrived after a grand total of 1 hour and 20mins. At this point it's not like I could get through to them to tell them where I could be picked up now so I just had to continue walking home for another 20 minutes. It's mind-blowing to me that these dispatchers will tell you it's arriving "shortly" when it's 1 hour and 20 minutes out. This is by far the worst experience I've had with any company ever and judging from the other recent reviews it seems this has become a bit of a trend lately. Terrible.

I use this service regularly and have only had a problem once. A very rude driver, barely spoke English and although I gave him concise directions to my home (he had no idea where it was even though it's a common area), he went the wrong way twice (when I said left he went right) and charged me full fare. I started to argue with him then realized he didn't understand what I was saying so I dropped it and just paid him. I'm usually a good tipper - not that day.

Dispatch never understands my location no matter how specific I try to be. Going as far to getting the road so wrong they end up on the opposite side of town making us wait an extra 30-45 minutes in the cold.

I was in a car crash and pretty injured. Trying to get to the emergency room and their taxi brought me to the wrong side. I had to walk for over 45 minutes to get to the ER side. Called to get another taxi and refused to pay for it since the driver brought me to the wrong place and I shouldn't have to re-pay for a cab. Dispatch was really rude and unprofessional. She'd just yell at me and hang up lol

Booked ride to airport online and called the day before. Was reassured the taxi would be on time. It wasn't. Called. Yelled at with person saying, "Are you telling me I'm not doing my job? " well.ya. Advice: Book pick up 1/2 hour before the real time you need it. They get an extra star for the nice driver.

I find them reliable, quick to show up and polite. Generally know and take the fastest/cheapest routes around town and never overcharge for time. They also take a pet if you let them know on the call. Thank you for getting me around safely and comfortably

TERRIBLE COMPANY. 10/10 would NOT recommend. They switched to an automated system that gives you 3 options to choose from, once I finally got through to dispatch half an hour later they immediately hung up on me. They have now created AN APP for you to book a taxi but doesn't give you the location you would like. WORST TAXI COMPANY EVER

I always get great cab drivers from a.c. Well not all of them are amazing, there’s a few who aren’t even that friendly, but if you use them a couple of times you’ll definitely have more friendly drivers than not.

I wish they would be honest when you call about arrival times. I call for a drive to work. Was to meet at office join a crew going out of town for day.
Called at 3: 35 am told 10 minutes. Called again 3: 50 told 10 minutes called 4: 05 am (now late for work 5 minutes) told 10 minutes. 4: 17 driver arrives after coming back from North Lantzville tells me other cabs on no idea why I had to wait. 4: 22 dropped at office. Crew gone 22 minutes late now. Lost a days pay 10 hour shift.
Walked home as I couldn't justify paying more money after losing out on a full day pay with travel times as well.
Very disappointing.

They were there when we needed them.

All the cars we've seen definitely don't look like the one in the photo and seem under maintained. The one we had made odd noises when under breaking and sounded like the trunk latch was failing as the car went over any size bump.

They are also a little on the pricey side. 50 dollars from Duke point to Cassidy airport.

Did make me wonder where the money is going if not into their fleet.

Just spoke to a very rude lady who was yelling, and not listening to me.seemed in a hurry to hung up.when I requested to speak her supervisor she said she was the supervisor, when I asked to speak to the manager she said she was the manager. She wouldn’t even give me her name. And then said that I should call yellow cab because they are not rude. I hope this message creates an impact, so this company can improve their customer service.

Would give 0 stars if possible. The guy was rude and swearing at me for no reason at all. Had to get out because or his negativity. I'd rather walk for an hour than ever call these people for a ride again. Never been spoken to so rudely before. Horrible service. Call Uber instead.

Cab driver couldn't find my location. Was told 10-15 mins. Showed up 40 mins later which caused me to miss my ferry. Will not use them again.

I waited an hour and a half for a cab when I needed to get to the ER. I called three times after my initial phone call, each time being reassured that a cab was on its way. Eventually I was told that the initial cab picked up somebody else instead. Cab driver was not friendly and seemed annoyed that I didn't know the way to the hospital. Dispatch was nice, at least. Would not recommend.

Dispatcher hung up on my girlfriend because she mixed up a number in the address and was looking up the correct one then when we called back she acted like we were crazy and our location didn't exist even though we've cabbed to the destination before.

As a business owner, I have waiting many hours waiting on a taxi. I have called and I have used their “ amazing app” and have yet to receive good service. I’m about to open my own taxi company and show this town what good taxi service is like. Open your eyes and start working for the community. This is ridiculous, I would highly recommend the owner contact me ASAP so I can give him some tips

This is the 3rd time ive pre ordered a taxi from this company and it has been late. And not just a fee mins. 20 plus. Everytime i called the dispatch she kept telling me 5 mins.this happened 3 times. When i told her i was now late and i pre ordered for a reason she proceed to get frustrated with me and hung up. I am now wating almost a half an hour.and inwill be late picking my animal up from the vets office. This company should be more curtious and professional.

If I could give this service less than one star I would. In addition to it being the worst taxi service (unclean, late, rude, dangerous), I just witnessed a driver screaming at someone in the gas station for the way they parked at the pump. Terrible company.

So I've called 30 times a couple of weeks ago from both a known and unknown number to be ignored then told I was somehow abusive without ever actually talking to a single worker tonight july 31st I called in with a complaint and I was hung up on then told that I was harassing this company upon calling back I'm certainly curious as to why this business has such a difficult time maintain a professional standard?

This Cab company is a really bad company don't ever use AC Taxi I had a friend use this company and they missed the street they live on and tried to take them down a back ally and the cab driver only stoped when they told them the cops were on their way this cab company is a creepy cab company bad service bad customer service.

I made a reservation for a taxi to pick me up at the Nanaimo Airport at 7: 30. I arrived at the airport at 7: 25, and phoned AC Taxi to check if my reservation was still in order. The lady at AC taxi confirmed my reservation and said that the taxi would be along shortly. After 15 minutes I telephoned again and was told, in a very rude and demeaning tone, that I would just have to wait at least another 10 to 15 minutes. I had to then make alternative arrangements fast to ensute I could continue my travels. This is very disappointing and shows that AC Taxi is unreliable and should definitely not be used when on a tight schedule. If I could, I would give a rating of ZERO!

Rode to the airport from The Vault coffee shop. Friendly driver, talked to us a bit but not too much. Wished us well, got us there fast but safe. Picked us up at a bit of a poor spot, our fault. Happy with the service.

Taxi driver sped excessively, trunk was ajar the entire time. He never realized it like the genius he later proved to be. After taking us on a rollercoaster ride of a trip home, he proceeded to take the long way home ignoring the GPS. And then almost crashed into the sidewalk. He got tipped $0.01

Tl;dr They left me stranded first time, picked me up every time after that very quickly.

Edit: update. Well, in town for the next few days they picked me up almost right away every time within a couple mins.

1st part: Deep regrets deciding to lighten my carbon footprint and leave my vehicle in Vancouver. I was stuck at Duke Point ferry for two hours, thankfully yellow cab picked me up. Phoned AC initially, “15-20 mins” and i loved that response, seemed honest. Phoned back 25 and 50 mins later that the cab was on its way. I phoned yellow cab and they never even answered the phone. 90 mins in, pouring rain, i phoned yellow cab again and this awesome guy picked me up and got me to my hotel. AC would've left me stranded.normally i would've phoned them back letting them know i had a ride, but i couldn't have been nice. They never phoned me back at any time. If i was stuck at a pub? No big deal, i probably wouldn't have even written a review over it. Had another beverage watched some sports replays, life is good. Dirty terminal completely dehydrated, not cool. I have always supported cab companies and drivers against ride share companies but after this experience, I simply won't come back without a vehicle or without knowing ride share is available. Edit: Duke point 17kms from town so not easy walking
