A friend recommended this place. I came to get rid of the grey but got so much more. Can I give it 5+ stars? My hair loves Redken. I met Carol today and I must say she is absolutely the best ambassador for for this city not to mention a great hair stylist. I was in awe watching her care for so many clients at the same time with so much positive energy. It was contagious.

The only place we get our hair cut. Trisha is marvelous and amazing with children and does exactly what you ask her kindness.understanding is beyond exceeding.

This is the first online review I’ve ever posted but felt it was a necessity so that anyone else thinking about going to this salon has a chance to think twice. The stylist I was booked with for highlights and a cut didn’t come in that morning for my appointment and without any explanation to me someone, who didn’t introduce herself, took me to a chair and said she would be doing my cut & highlights. I showed her a photo of the cut I wanted and warned her that my hair can easily turn too yellow or grey if the wrong colour is used. She obviously didn’t listen as I ended up with brassy highlights with patches of an orangy colour underneath. The cut was a blunt bob which I didn’t ask for and nothing like the photo I showed her. When I called to express my disappointment a few days later, the receptionist listened politely and said she would speak to someone about processing a refund for me. The owner of the salon, who also was the one who did my hair that day, got on the phone and said she didn’t understand why I didn’t like my hair. She then proceeded to tell me that the salon doesn’t do refunds and hung up on me! I couldn’t believe what happened so I called back. The owner offered no apology for her behaviour and told me the only option I had was to come back and have my hair redone. In my 40 years of salon experiences this one was the worst I’ve ever had. Not only was the service bad, but even more shocking was the way the owner of the salon chose to handle it from start to finish. Being rude and defensive when a client complains about a service they just paid $180 for is completely unprofessional! This salon owner needs to take some customer service and communication courses and at the very least, some upgrading courses on colouring and hair cutting. I decided to visit the salon in person to try to negotiate a refund as I didn’t want to be forced into having another appointment there. When I spoke with the owner she admitted that she decided on a blunt cut for me instead of what I asked for. This should have been discussed with me first. I’ve never been treated like this by a salon before! She finally agreed to give me a credit for the amount of the service to buy hair products. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I still have a cut and highlights that I’ll have to have fixed somewhere else

Had a pedicure today with Kim. She is excellent. Will definitely have more pedicures with her. Audrey does my hair and she too is great. Fantastic place!

Admittedly, usually just there for a very simple men's haircut / trim, but always met by friendly staff at the door. Never had to wait longer than a few minutes for my appointment, not that anyone would book a haircut when they're tight for time anyways? ! Typically see Ellen or Sharlynn (sorry if I misspelled.) and always happy with the service and end result.

Very poor experience involving management. They double booked the stylist we were booked in to see and then treated us very poorly when we arrived for our appts. Making out like us having been sick two weeks prior and no one having any symptoms any longer, and negative Covid tests on hand all around, had anything to do with it. They did not try to reach me to inform me that they had intention of canceling our appts. They just went ahead and double booked in a color for someone else with the stylist we wanted to see in our already booked appt slots, because they rake in more dough that way. I have worked in customer service all of my life, for almost forty years. What a terrible way to treat any customer. We (a family of four) will never darken their doorstep again after being treated so badly, and will be sure to share our experience with everyone we know.

The owner Carol is a magician! Not only she has great taste and magical hands, she is also very personal. They use Olaplex even in your color and gloss. I walked out with a huge smile on my face and shining hair. Thank you!

Great haircut. My hairdresser was experienced and knew exactly how to cut my hair the way I wanted it.

Very disappointing. Staff came across nice at first, however, a terrible mistake was made with my hair (large platinum blonde streaks when I asked for a balayage). I gave them an opportunity to fix it and it looked better at first, but the dye quickly washed out after only two washes and the blonde stripes were visible again). I understand mistakes happen, but what happened after was much worse. After trying to resolve the issue over the phone and through email and getting very little response, I decided to go in in person. All I wanted was a refund to cover the cost of getting my hair fixed at another salon. I wish I had not bothered as I ended up leaving in tears after the owner refused to acknowledge that a mistake had been made at all and raised her voice at me in front of other customers. After several minutes trying to explain why the work was not acceptable, she gave me a partial refund (which I really appreciated and would have left happy if it ended at that) and then stormed off saying how she was very upset with me. I found this to be very unprofessional and I was extremely hurt by the way I was treated. Another friend of mine was in the salon later in the day and overheard the owner speaking poorly about me loudly. I have never been so hurt and disappointed by the actions of a business and I hope that no one else has to go through this. If a mistake has been made, I would expect an apology and a refund, not to be shamed and put down in front of other people and be made to leave in tears.

Came in for a hairstyle change and "A Cut Above" didn't disappoint. The stylist was nice to talk with while getting my haircut. I gave her the option to cut my hair however she wanted to, I am super happy with the results. I will be returning here for all my haircuts while I am up here.

The girl I had took direction really well, gave me an absolutely great haircut / fade. A bit pricy for the tiny thing of D: FI hair molding clay but well worth it. Washed my tiny hairs out after the cut and I felt like a million bucks. I had been looking to get my hair cut on a Sunday before I took a ferry to quadra and this worked perfectly. Would go next time I’m in the area

Steph is amazing! I moved to CR a year ago, and tried loads of Hair Dresser's. She fixed my color mess and got the cut right. She's knowledgable and listens.

Carol is my favorite hairdresser.she seriously styled it to suit the shape of my face after I donated my hair for Tour de Rock.

Best place for kids haircuts. My son loves sitting in the racecar and because it has peddles he is much less squirmy in the chair.
