I want to ask hospital emergency booking staff how they decide the priorities?
My 5 months old had a brain bleeding which was confirmed next day in CT scan and we were air lifted to BC children hospital.
When we reported to emergency they made us wait for hours when the situation could be minor. After waiting hours in emergency and then in pediatrics I had to lift my baby in arms and start begging to different nursing stations inside the pediatrics so someone could atleast see her and still for them they deal with priorities first, for them probably not waking up doesn't qualify for a priority one emergency.
Could Abbotsford hospital management answer who could take the accountability for such ignorant actions?
I will pray for all the parents that they don't have to go thru the same experience I had.
Expect no sympathy from the booking staff. Poor customer service from the booking clerk, unsure, why our Indian ladies pick up a healthcare job, if you're unhappy and don't have customer service skills pls don't worsen parents more with your unpleasant attitude.

It's taken me about a month to have the courage to write this. But my experience with ER doctor Josh Karram was belittling, sad, and disgusting. I waited over 6 hours with severe abdominal pain to finally see a doctor, while carrying my urine in a cup in my pocket, to have him tell me I probably had STI's and to "get up" because they needed the bed for someone else. He didn't examine me, touch me, or do anything to help me. I explained that I definitely didn't have STI's and I wanted to get this figured out because I'm a university student and had class in a few days. His excuse was "well you'll just have to come back again because our system sucks right now. " Thank god my family doctor did an x-ray and an ultrasound days later and found I had an ovarian cyst that burst as well as an intestional blockage. It took a lot of courage to come back to the hospital but when I did, I was taken seriously. It's very sad to have a doctor like Josh Karram label people and rush them out the door without doing any testing or exams, then blame it on the system. It is already hard enough to sit in emerg with people threatening to cut their head off and others suffering in pain or coughing, to then be treated like that. If you aren't happy with your job helping people or are unable to find compassion while working in healthcare, maybe do something else.

August 15th, 2023

Some of the WORST waiting room care I have ever revived at ARHCC. I came in at just after 10am, in excruciating pain from some type of tonsil infection (still waiting for strep test to come back).
I had a fever of 103, and could not swallow. Reception/triage gave me Tylenol in pill form that I could not swallow, and then crushed up Tylenol in applesauce which I also could no swallow due to the pain and nausea I was having. They wouldn’t give me any liquid children’s Tylenol for the pain. I waited in the waiting room for 7 hours, sobbing Because of the pain I was in. I talked to reception to let them know I was unable to get any Tylenol in my system and I still had a high fever and the receptionist looked at me like she was stupid and told me she would tell the doctor when I got into the ER. Nurses and reception would look at me, and ignore me even tho I was clearly in horrible pain. Multiple people who looked completely healthy, who came in after me, went in the back before I did. The whole set up in the waiting room is so weird now. A privacy tent in the corner for EKG tests, and triage at reception.

Aswell as there was a young woman who had been throwing up for 3 DAYS! Who was there long before I was, didn’t get into the back until 3 hours after I had gotten there. She threw up in all 3 bathrooms, and the waiting room was not cleaned until 8pm when I was discharged. The floors were disgustingly dirty. Dirt build up in the corners. Urine or vomit streaks down the front of the toilet. Just all around horrible waiting room when it comes to care/privacy/sanitation.

Once I was called back into emergency at 5pm, we were sat in a room where a bed would be, in chairs, until bed opened up for patients. It was very odd but the nurse who came around to take vitals was super kind and sweet, asked clearly and kindly for consent to take everyone’s vitals.

All the nurses in the actual emergency room were super kind and funny and were lifting everyone’s spirits. As soon as I got into a bed at 5: 30, by 6 the doctor had come to see me, he ordered me an IV for and fluids, antibiotics and a steriod. He did mono test, and a strep test. His name was Dr, M yatscof and he was one of the best ER doctors I have ever Had.

I really don’t know how ARHCC is still running under these conditions and Fraser heath needs to do something with who they hire. I’m aware we are in a health crisis and have a shortage of nurses, but the care I received in the waiting room was completely inadequate and simply unkind.

Don't ever go to this hospital. Waste of time no matter your circumstances. You'd be better going to a different one no matter what or how serious. This place needs to be shut down once and for all. Criminal charges should be laid too. Against the staff entirely.
17 July 2023 23:12
My dad passed away at this hospital in Feb 2022. We were never given his briefcase or wallet from his room. Either it was stolen when he passed away, or they never found it. We filed a report with lost and found in case it showed up, but never heard from them. Make sure your personal belongings are secured if you have a room here!
09 July 2023 1:31
Wait times are inaccurate and 4 people have gone in since coming here at 2pm, someone with knee issues has been here since noon. Abbotsford Hospital needs to do better especially considering they aren't even on the list for good Hospitals, spend all that money on repairs to have no staff in emergency. This is why I never come here and fight myself to get help because they won't be there for you when you need it, not to mention almost all the chairs are ripped and the waiting room is disgusting. I get it priority and all but do better Abbotsford
19 May 2023 14:18
The waiting times are crazy.
The doctor that came to see my brother came in and said that she will be back in a minute after looking at the X-rays and never came.
I could listen her talking, laughing and waving goodbye while we were waiting for her in the next room.
Waited for another hour and then got the care we needed.

My husband was admitted by ambulance after suffering severe illness and head trauma. I can’t say enough amazing things about every member of our emergency response teams and the hospital staff and Dr. The kindness and compassion was just first class. Thankyou doesn’t say enough to all those that helped my husband Cole. I appreciate every one of you all
12 April 2023 21:57
Too long waiting in emergency. If Canadian health system can't treat it's patient in an emergency on time how we get our rankings in top ten countries in the world?
06 April 2023 23:51
Very poor. If i could I would give a zero to abbotsford hospital. My mother jas High blood pressure and I took her hospital many times but one day her blood was 211/110 I took her emergency right away but no one came to see her for 7.5 hrs. She had her medication before we left for hospital luckily otherwise no kne cares in ARH. When I ask nurse about how long it would be because my mother's all body was shaking and her blood was so high back again. She said we have to wait, not sure how long if you can't wait you guyz can go home. Veryyyy veryyyy bad service and longer waits day by day
09 March 2023 7:37
Terrible, save the trip go somwhere else. You’ll be waiting 11 hours to see a doctor in ER
05 March 2023 1:21
Can't say anybody has a good experience here for the most part I was taking well care of.
26 January 2023 15:01
This hospital is absolutely horrible, I wouldn't even give them one star. If you enjoy your life I wouldn't go here.
25 January 2023 19:36
My father was taken by ambulance due to a rare post-covid side effect of losing his ability to walk. While in emergency the first night, someone came in and stole his iphone and ipad. My father was awake and yelled asking what this guy was doing there and who he was but no one came. My mother was sick at home recovering from covid and now had no way for them to communicate with each other.

Tried multiple shifts/times/days to speak with security but they knew nothing other than the same thief also robbed a woman in the waiting room and was caught but no further information and could not help us. They denied he was also robbed even though we could describe the time and exact outfit the thief was wearing. There were at least 4 security guards at any shift and they all sat in the security room taking turns walking around for about 5 minutes tops then returned to the security room to watch their phones. I was told these were the security for the whole hospital.

I took my dad's wallet to prevent that being stolen and tried to speak with police because the nurses and security guards said the thief was caught. But because the hospital staff did not provide my dad's name, they would not speak with us, or my mother, they even lied and said they had no record of a theft at the hospital on that day or at that time. The nurses in emergency confirmed the theft and that police were aware and a case file was open but they no longer had the information of the other patient whose items were stolen to get the case file number from. His items remain at the Abbotsford police station.

My dad was finally admitted to a ward and given drugs that were not good for him. He was struggling from the wrong medication and having trouble sleeping so he called out for help and was getting upset because he could not get up by himself. The response from the staff finally was to hold him down and restrain him. After he was restrained one of the orderlies said something along the lines of "I didn't like what you said" and then punched him in the face, just below his pacemaker and twice in the stomach. He was defenceless as he was restrained and could not even block them. My son noticed the bruise on his face the following day during a visit, I was on the other side of him and didn't see it or would have asked that day.

He just wanted out and to go home and luckily the antibiotics he was finally given kicked in and he could leave the next day (5 days total time, 3 in emergency, 2 in ward). We cannot go to the police because they lied to us and the hospital will likely deny the orderly punching him. Very sad system.
21 January 2023 2:21
Can't give less than 1 star othersmwise i would have picked -3. Abbotsford hospital is living breathing proof that Healthcare in Canada is screwed. Seriously scary.
30 December 2022 12:31
Parking is not clearly indicated. Arrived in the dark and couldn’t find directions as to where to go or how to pay. There was a sign that suggested you can pay by app, but it is cumbersome for a one time pay. Then I found a park pay station once inside.
Could all be made more clear.
21 December 2022 15:54
Such a bad service ever. Long wait and the doctor even spent 1 second to listen our problem. Why it’s called emergency?
20 December 2022 18:12
Maternity Ward - We had a great experience at the ARH maternity ward during the delivery of our baby. Aimee, our laboring nurse, and Dr. Chelsey Wiksyk took amazing care of us during delivery and all other nurses in the days thereafter were kind, caring and equip to help us. Thanks for your great service and care!
06 December 2022 7:44
Has been on the phone for 3 hours and still waiting for imaging center to answer my call to confirm my appointment for upcoming mri.
I wasted my so much time in just waiting for them to answer my call.
They should call themselves to confirm the appointments whenever they have time.
02 December 2022 11:31
In all honesty, the Abbotsford hospital is run on a a hit and miss operation. Yes everyone understands they are all understaffed. I dont think anybody is truly upset about that. When the issues are spoken about, it is usually concerning the treatment. Just because one is overworked does not mean you should take it out on the vulnerable. I have been here a few times and will give an example on two.

For the first matter, this was the place the ambulance took me after I was involved in an accident after being rear ended by a speeding suv, which sent my car into the back of a bus.
Even then, I was released within a couple of hours, by s nurse. The doctor never released me art told me what was going on. Even though I tried to tell the nurse I was not feeling well.

Found out from my doctor the next day that the accident had caused a concussion and he told me to go back to the hospital immediately. They also missed that I had a fracture in my back. With this matter I wrote a complaint to the hospital. The review letter wrote that the doctor would do better next time…

The second one which was recent, I had lost a fight with a vacuum cleaner and ended up with a fractured ankle. While in the ambulance the people were amazing. Even at the hospital, they kept coming back to check up on me and try to get my spirits up. The attending doctor on the other hand, not so much. He was also not educated. As a previous nurse I knew that the swelling could hide issues. It was pretty obvious my ankle was broken. It basically looked like a small balloon attached on the side. When I mentioned this to him, you tried to state that x-ray show everything. But after looking at my ankle again, he paused and told me to come back in a week. This is what I did. This is where I received the treatment everyone should have.

An x-ray confirmed my suspicions on the break. This time the doctor bent over backwards to communicate with me. He called around to try to get me a air-cast, as well brought as brought me up so I could look at the xrays personally. Then discussed in detail what was going on with my foot, how to take care of it, and even took a photo for me. I was very surprised by the treatment of course, and said things such as, “Who are you. ” And “Why are you being so kind. ” Like I said, it’s hit and miss at this hospital.

In conclusion it is not just how the doctors and staff treat you on whether you personally will get a good experience here.it is based on two factors. Whether the attending nurses are going to take their stress out on you, and if the attending doctors education did not come from a cracker jack box. Being overstaffed has nothing to do with kindness or knowledge. As you read from my experience, one doctor completely missed my broken ankle. He only told me to come back in a week because i because as a nurse I was educated to know about swelling hiding fractures. He is a doctor. I was a nurse. Either way we need to look at something. Be grateful at least that the healthcare is free. Imagine being in a country where not only do you receive bad service, but have no choice but to pay for it.
18 November 2022 21:07
Wish I could give this hospital less than 1 star. I feel badly for the 3 or 4 staff members who are actually competent and compassionate. The vast majority of nurses and doctors I've seen at this hospital are so negligent it is abusive. How these people got careers in medicine is beyond me. It is a filthy hospital with careless staff. -10/10 would NEVER recommend
08 October 2022 17:38
Dropped my dad off in emergency for kidney stones, he ended up waiting in the emergency room for over 7hrs. I ended up picking him back up, he wasn’t given anything to help with pain for all 7hrs and when mentioning it to staff they told him that someone’s also here with kidney stones that’s been waiting longer, then told him to wait.
I’ve never personally had a good experience at ARH, I understand that there’s huge limitations such as staff and room, but it’s extremely dehumanizing when you’re basically forced to sit with excruciating pain in an uncomfortable environment for several hours
26 September 2022 15:03
I was rear ended by a dump truck, my car crushed, so I was taken here to be checked out. Every single person that worked with me, from taking blood tests, to x-rays, to EKG or meds, they were all phenomenal! Super friendly, helpful, and constantly going out of their way to make sure things went as smoothly as possible, all the while working as a team and supporting eachother.
22 September 2022 15:09
I was admitted last year with sever covid. Ambulance to emergency, where I was seen relatively quickly before I was informed I would be going to the ICU. One month later, a walked out, alive. The staff at ARH literally saved my life, as in I wouldn't be here to type this review if not for the excellent care I received. Was it perfect? Far from it, I could list a bunch of complaints, but like said, I'm alive to write this review. Despite being horrendously overworked and understaffed, all the staff that looked after me were nothing but professional (with one notable exception, but again, she was probably near her breaking point, all is forgiven) Yes, the food sucked, thank the provincial government for that. If you are seriously ill, they will see you with minimal delay, don't let the negative reviews here sway you, alot of people go to the emergency department when they really shouldn't and that contributes to the problem, along with the obvious problem of the pandemic. So thanks ARH, the least I can do is write a nice review. Thanks for saving my life and allowing me to be with my family.
15 September 2022 22:45
I wasn't going to write a review but just thought maybe it was best to just for others to be aware!

Last November I went to the ER. I guess they thought my condition was serious enough to take me in right away! I was put in a cubicle with three other people where we sat and waited! After approximately 2+ hours a nurse came in to speak to one of the patients.due to this conversation it became evident that this person was covid+. Which was something the nurse was quite aware of! I had been sitting about 3-4 ft away and chatting with that person for over 2 hours! Mentioned my concern to the Dr. I eventually saw and he agreed it was totally wrong but said he had no decision over how patients were placed! He was great and sent me for some tests and actually phoned me the next morning with the results! As I was leaving I stopped at the nurses station to ask wether I needed to isolate for a period of time due to close contact with covid patient.the one nurse looked at another and shrugged her shoulders saying well if you have any symptoms come back!
I was booked for an ultrasound in the next few days and asked for a copy of the report.upon reading it I saw that it stated my gallbladder is of normal size and I have no gallstones. Only problem with that. I have NO GALLBLADDER! I had mentioned to the technician who was doing my U/S that I didnt have one and she thanked me as she said that way she wouldnt be looking for it! I thoughtI had receivedsomeone elses report at first When seeing the specialist a few weeks later I commented on it.he laughed and said he had seen that and then justified it by saying that these reports become so routine its easy to do that! That is pretty scary!
How are we able to depend and trust in these professionals who are supposedly caring for our health?
07 September 2022 1:06
Worse hospital can't believe it is in canada emergency nurses are very rude and racist to their own kind
05 September 2022 5:20
One smoking hot ER nurse. I looked at him and was healed. Consider a billboard with his face and/or body. (The one with the curls - you know who you are)? ‍️
05 September 2022 4:27
Horrible staff I went to BC to visit my grandfather at this hospital the staff nurse name "Manuela Palad" is very rude and impatient.

Very poor communication.
27 August 2022 15:40
I am a resident of Ontario and went to the emergency as a result of a leg injury.
I will say that I was amazed at these front line workers. Everyone was so kind and efficient. I was in and out in three hours.
I can’t recall the doctor’s name but he was awesome as well.
We often only see the negative comments but my experience needs to be shared.
Thank you to all the caring staff I interacted with. You guys are awesome!
Let’s ensure our health care front line workers are praised for all they do and compensated fairly.
24 August 2022 17:44
Its your average hospital. Usual waits etc. Lobby had a pianist playing the last time I was in here. That was a different experience.
07 July 2022 19:06
NEVER EVER go here if you are suffering from mental health issues! The nursing staff who work in the mental health unit are uncaring, dehumanizing sadists. Other than that it's a pretty good place.
31 March 2022 11:52
This place needs to be handed over to someone who will handle responsibilities well. Staff are bunch of jokers and wait time will kill you and make you more sick. Worst part of Abbotsford.
22 March 2022 4:10
Horrible experience. My husband got a call from
His family doctor to go to emergency as his d dimer is high. After all this tests and ecg 8 hours later still in waiting room! What is taking this long? Isn’t it to be an emergency situation since he could have a clot that could kill him? What is wronh with this hospital? The fact that we dont have any other choice or any other place to go! If only we have any other choice! Seriously this is soooo awful!
19 March 2022 22:32
Emergency room is nothing but will give you stress and pain. Not sure why government is allowing this hospital to run like this. Staff very rude.
15 March 2022 15:09
Worst experience. They will not even inform you if there is doctor on site or not. Just wait and die.
24 February 2022 21:15
Very poor services nurses and doctors are very rude i was dying but nobody came to see me my husband ask them many times to see me but they are rude to husband as well I'm surprised I'm living in canada medical facilities are very bad in canada
22 February 2022 22:26
Terrible female staff ALL OF THEM, deserve nothing but the worst for them and hope the worst for them.
15 February 2022 22:39
They really need to come with new fresh team. This place is a joke in the name of emergency. Would rather travel to Burnaby next time then waiting 12 hours for a doctor. Staff will literally kill you
14 February 2022 12:27
The ratio of doctors is 1: 1000 imagine the wait time. And omg the front desk girls so rude they think they owe your life.
11 February 2022 16:10
Came in with chest pains, shortness of breath and light headed. (I'm a 33 year old male who exercises regularly and eats a healthy diet). So for me these symptoms didn't really add up. At first my symptoms were taken serious. My blood was taken. They checked my heart on multiple occasions for irregularities. They scheduled me with the cardiology clinic. More tests were run at the cardiology clinic including being hooked up to a heart rate monitor for 24 hours. I wrote down the exact times I was feeling my chest pains. They thought it might be sleep apnea. The sleep apnea clinic has received no follow up and cannot test until they have received confirmation. (waiting since December 10th) Also no follow up with me what my next steps should be. I'm still suffering from chest pains and shortness of breath I can't exercise as my heart feels like it's going to pop out of my chest. Serious incompetence. (Symptoms began right after second vaccine)
11 February 2022 11:11
Long wait in ER, little support for waiting patients, and got told to sit in waiting room for privacy concerns while waiting for nurse by registration line spot. Apparently privacy is NOT a concern if you are waiting to check in tho. Was asked to come back for an ultrasound, then report to Emergency for the results. ’The ultrasound was at 530, no speaking with a dr by 1115 pm, because a serious UTI for a transplant patient is NOT apparently something important to the staff. No food or drink for nearly 24 hours, and no effective communication with those waiting.
07 February 2022 9:13
Very poor service waiting for several hours to see the doctor I’m surprised this hospital is in canada?
18 January 2022 12:44
No complaints here, the staff has always showed me empathy. Long wait times are normal, but that's no slight on the doctors or nurses. They are doing their best. A total shortage of family practice doctors in Abbotsford causes a lot of people to end up here when they don't need to be.
06 January 2022 6:47
Had hip replacement surgery at 7.45am Tuesday 12 Oct. From the time I checked in at 6 am 12 Oct to the time I checked out midday next day, the care I received was exceptional.
26 November 2021 13:18
Disappointing. I dont normally give bad reviews but I’m in disbelief how my family members case is being handled. Nobody explained the situation to us, they were unaware my family went missing TWICE! Under their care! And when we called, nobody cared to properly explain to us, most were apathetic. I wish I could give 0 rating for this. The system truly sucks and no one wants to be accountable or apologize for the negligence. Or improve anything at all! I wish they could tell us ways they can ensure patients are safe in their care. But they cannot because to quote them “we are not a prison”. We cannot ensure he doesnt “escape” again. That doesnt seem like a place where i can send my family and feel comfort. That’s their response to a family that sent their loved one to the ER because they were in danger? REALLY?

I sincerely thank everyone that took care of them but something need to change. This cannot happen for the third time. What if something dangerous happened? They are beside a highway, it was night time, the person was medicated. I want to ask them if they’ll be ok with this if it happens to their loved ones? Is that how they’ll handle the situation? I think not.
09 November 2021 3:09
Most staff at this hospital are amazing. Very helpful staff. Doctors here are generally quite pleasant. I have no complaints. Long wait times are not a result of the staff or doctors inabilities long wait times are due to people going to the hospital for simple things such as a sore toe, a cold, an itchy ear, a bruise. Don't misuse hospitals. It's annoying. I'm not a health care Profesional i have no health care advice. But I can promise you wait times would go down if only those that needed emergency services went in and not just everyone who is too lazy to wait for the clinic or too lazy to do a virtual appointment. Use your brain and your common sense:)
19 October 2021 7:51
I was treated here after a minor bicycle accident. Kudos to the staff, especially the nurses that kept checking on me the two days I was admitted. My only complaint is that the emergency room seemed a bit neglected in terms of sanitization, which does not help when you're already nervous for being at a health building during the pandemic.
19 October 2021 2:32
The worst hospital ever. Noone gives you the time of day. All the doctors and nurses just shrug off your problems. They'll stick you in a chair for hours and hours.
10 October 2021 17:59
Was experiencing severe GI issues late this summer. I cannot thank the ED physicians and nurses enough for the care I received. Yes, waiting times are long and it's very overcrowded. I can't imagine the stress and frustration that our health care professionals battle on a daily basis particularily with the ongoing pandemic. Thank you for giving your best and take care of yourselves. We need you!
08 October 2021 11:46
Bad attitude by receptionist night time Friday at11pm
Punjabi lady looks 25 to 30yrs
She didn’t learn Warhol chapter while studying
30 September 2021 1:31
Our system is completely broken. I went to Emerg Wednesday with advice from my doctor to go. I saw only a handful of patients who really needed to be there. One with a broken shoulder, the other with extreme pain and the other with a miscarriage. Everything else was not an emergency. Parents coming in because their kid had a bug bite and it was itchy? A lady with food poison that got turned away, a lady with a son who had a low fever but no other symptoms. We need to all understand that not every issue is an Emergency and keep it open for patients who are truly in life threatening situations. I waited 5 hours to see a doctor and was told I needed an ultrasound, the next day I was back at 830AM and was again told I had to check back into Emerg for my results. I waited almost 7 hours to see a doctor. The nurses were awesome and quick to relieve my pain and overall made me comfortable. The doctor was a bit bleh and didn't really listen to my concerns.
28 September 2021 9:44
My brother lost eight teeth taken down by security here they man handle you to much worst security i have ever witnessed.
20 September 2021 13:41
Extremely rude on the phone just trying to find out about my upcoming surgery very hostile and rude not acceptable
20 September 2021 1:34
Waited five hours for a chest X-ray. Waited another hour to see the doctor, who didn’t know that I’d already had a chest X-ray. Waited another hour to find out that the X-ray didn’t show anything. I was expecting that; if they had done the X-ray when I came in, there might have been something to see. Seven hours total is ridiculous. We need more doctors.
04 September 2021 12:39
Emergency department can take a long time but our experience giving birth here is super, that was our third child and compare to Royal columbian and Surrey hospital, the Matirnity staff here are great and caring, nurses, doctors, porters, and even food service, is polite and caring, the supplies and space in each room is plentiful, the nurses will not keep bugging you about minor details, which is great for new parents.
03 September 2021 6:46
They have no idea what they are doing here. Except running around that’s what they are good at.
17 August 2021 11:05
Security in this place is dangerous to anyone who they think might be homeless, making a man who was presenting with a later confirmed multiple spinal fractures vacate treouse because the items desk worker became inpatient with the amount of time spent trying to remove his coat and started to haul him around causing his pain to direct him to swear and demand that his assulter unhand him. 4 east Asian guards were on him bodily hauling him to the exit and dropping him onto the concrete and then stating that he was not welcome and he was told that he would be kicked repeatedly in his body if he did not get off the property immediately taunting threats and humiliation he had to endure as he was not capable of walking continued until he crawled from emergency to the sidewalk on Marshall road from there he had to crawl another 150 yards to the bus stop, hard it was to believe that this could happen in a first world country like Canada so I didn't! Lord bless I should have been more attentive and so 2yrs agony sent me there and after x-rays I had broken the shoulder badly displaced no way to set it the pain immobilized me and I was given a pill and discharged I asked for a half hour for the pill to get working as I couldn't get out of the wheelchair to get into the cab and then it was there in only 5 min! I refused to go and again request a cab in approx. 25 minutes a worker places her hand over the fracture and leans a good deal of her excessive weight on me as I screaming in pain let go of my shoulder and then she was almost lifted off the floor as I took both hands straining herself to put as much as possible on the shoulder and when she did this the guard did nothing threats issue let me go I curse her and then I was released and she says that I am going to be waiting for the cab outside no problem however I got hurt at noon on a winter day that was 19c.now it's 1c.and the wind was gusty, here I sit and I am not able to get up to stay warm, I shiver nearly blacking out with each wave then nonstop shivering so cold yet I prispire the guard stands inside looking at me and he has the look of an very evil eye around him. Use extreme caution if you are white and wearing
work clothing!

Telephone lines are ALWAYS busy. I've been trying to get a hold of a patient and I have called the number THEY provided so i can stay in touch with my loved over 70 times and the main line or 15 times. I can't get anyone on the line. All I get is ringing, ringing then the call hangs up on me or i get a busy signal. Like it's so frustrating and upsetting. GET MORE STAFF! Or figure out a better system. It makes one worried when you can't reach your loved one, you think did something happen? Why can't get through? If I drove and didn't live hours away I would be there every day visiting but I can't and the phone is the only way to stay in touch! I started calling at 4: 18pm and it is now 7: 47pm and still can't get in touch with anyone! Does this really meet national quality standards?

The doctors and nurses are very caring. I think the wait for a bed and the number of patients vs medical staff is the biggest problem.

Phenomenal work. I am so impressed by the level of care I've received. We all thank you. Mental health affects us all!

I spoke to three different units reps today to arrange and test dates and had nothing but excellent communication, very polite and accommodating. Also the imaging techs were very friendly and professional.

Worst service! Been on hold for 1 hour, ridiculous! If you are on hold for 1 hour, than what is the ER wait time?

Can be very busy and understaffed. Nurses and doctors are great with patients but lacking some major resources.
20 March 2020 3:19
The barley care for you they leave you sitting for 6 hours before a word is said to you I've lived here my whole life and I've never had a single good visit it is always a hassle not worth going go elsewhere

Emergency section- Quite disappointing. I waited 6 hours in the emergency with breathing difficulties and body full of rashes due to a reaction to dye injected during a test. By 12: 30 am I was ready to leave with or without their consent. I asked a Filipino nurse) if she knows of the results- she would not look at me and told me not to talk to her to the next section. There were two nurses laughing and talking about personal issues. When I asked they said “ oh you results are here”
It was buried. They sent me to the wrong department for further testing. The emergency doc just said go home. It is just rashes and difficult in breathing. Just take Benadryl despite the fact Benadryl did not help. I got better because I got another doctor to help me the next day. My vitals were good but I tried to tell them it’s not my norm.

The people doing x rays, blood work and ecg were good.

Conclusion: I realize the health system is overloaded. But the staff needs to remember why they are there: to help people get better. They still need to treat people politely.
They don’t seem to care. There is lack of compassion. Remember the code of ethics!

I already filed a complaint with their patient quality care regarding my care I received in the day I delivered my daughter however, to help others, I’ve decided to write a review here.

I had a external cephalic version (ECV) scheduled on September 9,2019 at 3pm. My daughter was breech so I wanted the doctor to try to flip her head first. I went in for the appointment and sat in triage for 2 hours only to be told that the doctor had been called away for another delivery. The nurse said we could leave and come back at 6: 30pm. My hubby and I came back to triage at 6: 30 only to be told again that the doctor had been pulled away into another delivery and wasn’t sure when he would see us. Finally, around 8pm the OBGYN came to do the ECV in triage. The risks were explained that 1: 200 chance that this procedure could end in an emergency c-section. Long story short, the emergency c-section happened. My baby lost her heartbeat upon the successful procedure.

We ran to the OR only to be told that there was a wait for an OR. Meanwhile, my daughter had no heartbeat and nobody was telling me what was going on. All of a sudden there were nurses pulling my panties off and touching me and finally a nurse came to my head and told me they were putting a catheter in me. This was all taking place in the hallway as we waited anxiously for an OR. This shouldn’t have happened, with a known risk such as this, there should’ve been an OR on standby and I shouldn’t have had to wait for this as my baby was in fetal distress & could’ve died while we waited. My baby was born at 9: 38pm.

When it came to Maternity, nurse Melanie was amazing as well as nurse Jamie. Jamie was with me the entire time during delivery and was very reassuring in triage that she would be with me every step of the way. She was the one that came to tell me about the catheter and was very reassuring to keep breathing deeply and that it was all going to be okay.

I was essentially denied a pump for breastfeeding after my sister and myself asked for one the day after my daughter was born. On the 11th of Sept. I also asked again and was told to try hand expressing into a spoon, the nurse said that would be easier then pumping. Although my colostrum had come in the night my daughter was born so I wasn’t having issues with that but rather by baby latching. They sent a breastfeeding consultant in to help as well and she recommended a nipple shield and said she would bring one for me to try but never did. My baby lost too much weight 48 hours after birth so we had to stay in the hospital for an extra night. However, it was an employed student nurse Taylor who brought me a pump when I asked on the 12th in the morning. She was very helpful and very kind. She seemed more helpful then the other nurse I had the previous day.

My advice is constantly have other people try to advocate for you and help you in the hospital. I tried to advocate for myself and so did my family members however it wasn’t taken seriously. My first birthing experience was traumatic and I truly hope that this whole ordeal that I went through doesn’t happen to other people. It wasn’t a great experience here at ARHCC.

They need more staff. As a previous Nurses Aide I had to leave as this place was similar to a war zone. People crying and screaming in pain. Standing room only waiting rooms. Beds lined the hallways. From babies with worried parents, to the elderly who were barely hanging on. Most people had masks. Security guards were everywhere. There was a mentally unstable teenager who kept talking to himself loudly. He kept one of the bathrooms hostage as he was soaking his shoes in the sink. The front desk clerk was emotionless and unkind and should be fired. I decided to came back the next day at about 2 am. Much better. Not because the new clerk was any nicer, she wasnt. But it was not busy. As for the treatment received, it was okay. And i say that because I had to put my foot down to “its probably just a muscle” diagnosis. They are to quick to release you if they dont know see whats going on right away. Thats the hospitals history. And those decisions did not fair well. The negative reviews of this place is now known across Canada statistically. Its reputation is, if you get sick go to the city. Drive as far away from abbotsford as possible. They need more staff more doctors and new front desk clerks. When a Vancouver city hospital runs smoother then changes need to be made.

Best Hospital that I have been to, Abbotsford hospital has the great staff, very helpful with everything.

Do not waste your time here, this is the worst hospital I’ve ever been to. The wait time just for results is ridiculous. Second day here at “emergency” and it’s been over 3 hours just waiting on results and nothing yet! The receptionist is very rude, uncaring and unprofessional. Train your staff better and learn how to treat patients. The health care and service I have received in a third world country is outstanding compared to here!
14 February 2020 20:25
One of the worst hospital. Been waiting with a baby for almost 4 hours. Told them baby got a bad fever but they said unfortunately have to wait. Management need to be fired here. Baby should not have to wait 4 hours to get looked at.
29 January 2020 23:23
The worst emergency department imaginable. Be prepared for endless waiting, uncaring staff and incompetent emergency doctors who will not listen to you. Calling this a third world country experience is an insult to any third world country.
13 October 2019 1:26
One of the worst hospitals for waiting. Been to Surrey memorial, Van General, New west, Mission General, eagle ridge coquitlam, Ridge Meadows in maple ridge. This is by far the worst hospital ever. Time stands still here. Was here for 6 hrs with the wife. That was before she even saw a doctor.
If you can, go to any hospital but here. This place sucks.
23 September 2019 13:46
Horrible doctors looked was rolling eyes at us when brought our daughter in thinking we were worried parents. Now going to childrens DO NOT COME HERE!
13 September 2019 2:10
Laying here 6 days waiting for a leg operation. In pain. Not eating nor drinking with the promos That I’m on the list (since the grilled beginning, still on the mythical list!) lots of pain pills, and who knows my leg might be healing itself?

A nursed named GRACE was the rudest medical worker I have ever encountered. Your insolence is disgraceful.
27 August 2019 1:19
Doctors and nurses are friendly and attentive. The immigrants that are contracted to deliver meals and clean need to be taken out and beaten, they're rude and beyond useless.
08 August 2019 10:40
I came into the hospital in a lot of pain.the nurses and surgeons and porters took such good care of me and treated me with dignity.you guys are amazing!

Doctors are whack here, I honestly dont know how anyone here got their licenses. A doctor couldn't even diagnose me as pregnant. Told me I was on my period even though I said I was late. Other clinic got me in for emergency ultrasound because of possible ectopic pregnancy. Also the pysch here tells people when they try to kill themselves it's for "attention"

Giving birth was a nightmare here too, got sent home in active labour because I refused to take morphine, also put in the epidural wrong and screamed at me mutual times because I couldn't move during my contractions. Told me to stop whining when they were stitching my lady bits together.

My grandma had a overlooked kidney stone for many years.

My FIL died because doctors refused to give him a proper check up for 5 years going in to emergency for issues, then when they did it was too late and cancer was already in the brain. Dont come here for a diagnosis because you could be dying and they will tell you to go home because they'll think you having a brain aneurysm is just a headache.
