Sadly we needed to put our cat down on Christmas Morning, and our only option seemed to be this horrible place. We had to pay 800.00 to put our cat down! That is insane! I understand that an emergency vet will be more costly but to take advantage of people in desperate times is absolutely appalling! I will NEVER recommend this place. I will drive to any other city to avoid ever giving them another dime!

This has got to be the most unprofessional and unethical clinic ever possible! There’s a code of ethics veterinarians take and abide by just as physicians do. My poor Luke had a clot on his spine, they refused me service because they were closing in a half hour. By the time I got to the other 24 hr clinic it was closed. Then had to wait until 8 am when my clinic opened. They were even disgusted that they refused to help me because they were closing in a half hour. The vet tech paged the vet to come in. He was there in 5 minutes. My vet asked where I took him, he said all they had to do was give him a warfarin shot and he would have had a 50/50 chance. My vet said it was obvious that he had a clot and that it could have been corrected if it was caught in time. Which it would have if this clinic didn’t refuse to help me. He was only 10 and he suffered extremely because of the negligence and unethical practice. They need to lose their licence to practice. I would have paid any dollar amount to save him.

We had awful service! I brought my cat in just as a precaution as we thought she was drowsier than expected from her medication a few days after a surgery. When we went into AVAEC they were not gentle and quite forceful with her. They gave me a quote of $2600 for her to stay the night and do testing. I told them that was unaffordable and they lowered it to $1000 but didn’t give me a receipt until the following day despite having asked for a receipt three times. Throughout the night we called to check in on my cat and each time were told she was “doing well, just a bit lethargic”. In the morning when I picked up my cat up I was again told that she was doing well and just a bit lethargic. A few minutes later they brought my cat out to me completely lifeless on a towel. She was unresponsive, tongue sticking out, eyes wide open, and her fur around her chest and neck were covered in a sticky substance. They told me it was Dr.orders to take her to our regular vet. Despite my cat being in that lifeless state, she was still able to hiss at the vet tech, and I have never seen her hiss at a vet. Unfortunately once we took her to her regular vet we were told that she was freezing cold and her glucose levels were so low they were unreadable. Later in the day she began having seizures at the vet and was no longer progressing and we made the difficult decision to put her down. Please never go to AVAEC, make the drive to langley. If we had not walked through those doors, I know my cat would still be alive.

Took my dog in this weekend, the love and care the vet and staff gave was amazing. They even called the next day to follow up. Highly recommend!

Charged me $200 just to look at my dog for 2mins and say she's OK. Had to go a real vet in morning

Horrid place. Will be nice and help you put, then hold you hostage until you pay a deposit to have your dead pet cremated. Meanwhile your son and ex are in the room with your deceased family member balling their eyes out, repeatedly being told they can't leave.

1/10, never go here unless you like being held hostage and overcharged for pet cremation services. ($350 for private, compared to $120 somewhere else.)

Garbage! Horrible treatment!

The one thing I will say in a positive note, is since our cat died before they could do anything they did not charge us for their services.

Edited to add:

My baby boy Grog was alive when he was brought in. The doctor was not there when we called, but were told he would be there asap - this was during their open hours at the start of the evening, the vet should have been there. Grog sat 5-10 in the office waiting for the doctor to show up, who then (after being told how he was acting prior), ignored us and poked and prodded. Eventually he decided to put him into a ventilator, but before he could administer steroids, Grog had passed.

The doctor had no care or urgency whatsoever for our cat, clearly this a boring job he has, with no compassion for animals or their owners. Had he shown up sooner, and taken what he was told and had some sense of urgency, Grog might still be alive.

I brought my dog here years ago when she was experiencing a really bad seizure. It was after hours and our vet was not open. The vet wasn’t even there when we arrived. The girl watched my dog have a seizure on the ground and did nothing to help or even bother to care. We ended up leaving to go Langley. My dog passed away before we could even make it there. Luckily we brought her body to Langley and they were incredibly helpful and kind during that time.

DO NOT GO HERE! They only care about money. My poor senior dog was scheduled to be put down in a week with our vet, but last night, she started to go downhill real bad. I called this animal hospital, and they told me to put her down and get a private cremation was going to cost me about $1000. When I asked for a cost breakdown, they said private cremation is $350, the emergency fee is $163, and then the euthanasia fee (didn’t tell me the exact cost), the total cost will be between $950 - $1000. I understand it costs more for emergency care but this was actually disgusting! It messed up for this animal hospital to take advantage of you during such a vulnerable time. I called the Langley animal hospital after and went there instead. Just for reference the Langley cost me $470 which included private cremation, euthanasia, and the emergency fee. Drive the extra 23 minutes and go to the Langley animal hospital. Care more about animals than money.

Go to Langley! Don't go here! My dog was having seizures. I knew there was something neurological going on, but they wouldn't do blood work unless I agreed to pay for x-rays ($500) and then have those x-rays looked at by a radiologist (another $430). So close to $3000 later, my dog is not much better and is at his regular vet getting the care he needs by people who actually care. Btw the x-rays don't show anything. They said he needed to go to a regular vet to keep getting fluids, but the vets don't open till 8am anywhere, and this clinic closes at 8am. The vet there said he would stay open till 8: 15am so we could find someone to take him. At 7: 45am they drag my dog out (who can't walk at this point) and tell us to go. He still has his iv line in and they literally kicked us out even though they said they would wait. There is nothing ethical about this place. The more dire your circumstances look, the more they will charge. Veterinary business is a tough business and comes with tough calls. This clinic will not give you any straightforward answers and they just chicken out. My real vet this morning was so up front and the money I spent here would have gone to way better use there. Never again! If you care about your pets don't go here.

My cat had a urine blockage and so we called and took him here. When we arrived I was given a form to fill out then the girls took it back. They seemed to be having a hard time with what was on the form and the English which personally is not an issue for me, knowing English doesn't mean you are any less competent. They brought us into an exam room and the one assistant needed to do an assessment and she was pretty cold and firm.she kept grabbing my cats face and putting it in hers and grabbed his feet and stuff because "he's cute". He of course was hissing at that, I ended up choosing to restrain him because they were not and I know that my cat can be spicy (she's lucky she didn't get hurt honestly). When the doctor came in he was nice, a bit overly firm with my cat but I get it. I also restrained him for the doctor because again nobody was and he said that he was in fact blocked which I knew. I asked for an estimate and he went into back to do it. 10 minutes later the other assistant came in and said that their computer system went down and that they wanted me to go to Langley emergency, they were extremely apologetic and offered to give me the phone number and address. I understood grabbed my stuff and went on my way, they did not charge me for anything which was good. Went to Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley. Honestly they were great and if I were you I would just go the extra 25 minutes and go to Langley for an emergency.they seem to know what they are doing and i felt very good leaving my cat in their hands! I know Abbotsford is accredited emergency but I feel as though maybe they should just be a regular vet clinic.

This place is an absolute disgrace. We took our puppy in. Long story short, it’s way overpriced but what you expect from an emergency vet. They said they needed to take x-rays for $200 and we agreed and then when they were done taking the X-rays they said they were not qualified to look at the X-rays for what was needed so would need to send to another vet at the cost of another $200. They basically said they think she’s fine, but aren’t sure, and we could go home or if we wanted to keep her there overnight on oxygen we could for $2000! They are completely clueless and only looking to extract as much money as they can while they fear I get without actually knowing anything. At the end of the day they charged us $700 and said we don’t know what’s going on, you can go home and if the puppy seems to get worse come in again and it will be a minimum of $2000!

Hours 5pm to 8am, Emergency hours which are more expensive as one would expect but $1700+ to find out your puppy found someone's joint in the neighborhood & ate it.like.wow. Yes, emergencies happen, I would suggest finding what the rates are in your area as an FYI to yourself in case an emergency happens. I will say the place is clean and staff there friendly enuf.

We rushed our fur baby there thinking something could be done [early morning just before 7 am] but all he did was listen to her heartbeat and tell us to either wait for our own vet or suggested hospitalization. That was all and the audacity of charging us almost 200 bucks while our baby was suffering in discomfort and pain. Our guess was he wanted to leave a 7 am. Avoid going there. We understand Emergency means paying more but just for that.come on seriously. Obviously the love for animals especially in times like this this profession clearly is not the right one for him. Truth be told. Make that drive to Langley. Extremely disappointing. Extremely heartbreaking, and money-grabbing.

So many other loving Vet Clinics. This isn't one of them.

I don't know HOW this vet thinks it's okay to turn down a dying animal that was brought in off the street. Blows my mind. Clearly not in the business for the animals and only for the money. Sheesh! Shame Shame.

If your pet is having an emergency and needs to see a vet outside of normal vet hours, DO NOT GO HERE! Please please PLEASE go to the Langley Emergency Vet Hospital instead. This vet clinic will take advantage of you and offer unnecessary procedures, medications or care for your pet just to get more money out of you. They did a bunch of tests on my pet that were not needed for the issue my pet was having. I felt pressured into agreeing to do the things they recommended as they kept informing me that they were the vet and knew what was needed and if I cared for my pet, I would proceed with the things they were recommending. After informing my regular vet, they did in fact tell me that the things they suggested were NOT needed for the issue my pet was having!

This place is am absolute joke! If there was the ability to leave zero stars I would. They are more interested in charging exorbitant amounts of money than caring for your pets. The vets is cold and impersonal and will not discuss potential diagnosis or options without first agreeing to pay for unnecessary tests. I find this place to be unethical and would caution anyone using thier services to be wary, especially during an emotional stressful time when your pet is sick or injured.

The staff are wonderful. Our little dog Pierre was crying in pain. The staff comforted and soothed him. Dr Dhillon had to remove a blockage causing Pierre not to be able to urinate and relieved his pain. Yes they are expensive, but worth every penny to save our wee dog from the pain he was in.

Don't come here! They refuse animals at the door if they are emergencies and in distress! What's the point of being an emegency clinic when you can't help an animal in need! Shame on you

Came home around 6: 30 pm and our little dog was yelping in pain. Phoned this clinic, got in immediately and had superb service! Our boy was diagnosed with an assessed tooth. They gave him pain meds, blood work, and antibiotics. They were kind, helpful and informative. Super friendly and kind staff! Excellent experience and I would highly recommend them!

Do. Not. Take. Your. Pet. Here. If you care about your animal don’t take them here. We did not do our research and took our 3 and a half month old puppy here after he ingested weed off the side walk. We were charged 1500 for what should have cost 300-400 dollars. They tried to scare us in to getting all these different tests and gave us medication we don’t even need but it cost 200 dollars. When picking up my puppy I asked to see him and the girl did not want to let me. The “vet tech” did not even know how to take his heart rate or a resp rate and was forcing him down in the crate to try while pulling on his IV.multiple times i suggested putting him on the table to do this but she said no cause he was hooked up to an IV …. That was on wheels…. The girl then asked me to go back to the waiting room while she got the dr. I hear my dog crying in the back and I go back there and get YELLED at to leave when I see them being so forceful with my 5 pound puppy. Upon leaving I keep asking to talk to the dr because the girl can’t even explain to me properly what this medication is for. Some guy in dirty sweat pants and shoes comes out and just said it’s for stomach it’s for stomach and doesn’t answer my question. I’m given no care instructions for his iv site at all and am sent on my way. I hope this place gets shut down and that they all loose their jobs. Horrible horrible experience. This place needs to be shut down.

Pro: The bonus is they are open all night and take emergencies.
Con: you pay extraordinary rates for the pro. My young dog was bitten and needed stitches. The initial estimate was over $2700. Declining unnecessary blood work (unnecessary for a young, healthy dog) and x-rays, the bill was just over $1500
Compared to a friend's older dog with a dog bite that was then infected and needed flushing etc and who took the blood test, their bill was just over a $1000
