Afghan Horsemen Restaurant

Really great food, unique atmosphere, and great service. Farhad was our server, and he was incredibly caring a sweet. He gave me a dessert cake on the house for my birthday with a candle! What a guy.

This was one of the top 10 restaurant experiences I've ever had! The belly dancer was a great treat.

This was our first time at the Afghan Horsemen Restaurant.
We had been in the seperate room to the left which was booked for a bday party which was perfect.
We had a belly dancer come in which was great.
If you are hungry and like to share order the Horsemen special platter. We really enjoyed it.
They don't have a lot of beer not wine selection, but we enjoyed what they had.
Cosy atmosphere, great and friendly service.
We will definitely come back!

We had a wonderful experience at Afghan Horsemen for my daughters birthday. We reserved the sitting area. The atmosphere took us to a whole new place, the food was deliciously full of flavour and the waiter was very attentive and friendly!

I brought my indian friend here in october 2023. We were amazed by the food, service, ambiance. The server was Farhad and he was very kind and polite. He made us feel home in Afghanistan. We both enjoyed every seconde of our experiences. The solo belly dancer was so talented, not only she was dancing but grabbed some clients and made them dance. It was very unique to sit on the floor on those afghan cushions.

Thank you all for making that day so special for me coming from Montreal to Vancouver.

Very impressed with the quality of their meat - exquisite. As a first time customer here, I had a great time. Ate so much, I could barely walk, which goes to show how good their food was.

We had an absolutely delicious dinner this evening. This was our first time here and the staff was friendly, patient and very informative. We had two platters to share between four of us which was more than plenty. The food itself was so fresh and full of flavour. On the way out, we had a lovely conversation with a gentleman who I believe is the owner/manager. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. We will definitely be back.

Perfect spot for our 7th wedding anniversary. Ordered the Horseman Platter (tons for two people). Service was excellent.

I have eaten in all afghani restaurants in lower mainland lots of times and know about afghani food very well.food here was worst and extremely overpriced.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with traditional Afghan vintage objects which gives a peaceful and cozy atmosphere to the dining experience. The dishes that we tried, Kabuli palaw, lamb shish kebab and Vegetarian lover's delight were delicious. This place is definitely a hidden gem for its unique dishes.

My friend and I went and got one of the platters for 2, and it was superb. Every component from the dips and pita to begin and the perfectly fall apart lamb and rest of the platter. The only thing possibly better than the food was the service. The two women serving us were so nice. Thank you!

Absolutely the best Afghan Cuisine in Vancouver! From the exceptional customer service to the mouth watering food, Zahra made sure to service all our needs To our surprise, food was served super fast, with appetizers and tea to wrap it up! By far the best restaurant experience I’ve had in years! Thank you so much to Zahra and the Afghan Horsemen!

Me and my family visited this place and had a wonderful time and experience with their delicious cuisine and most wonderful Staff.
Zahara with a smiling face, served us so well that I am requesting the owners to take care of her as she is an asset to the organization and we are thankful to the girl from Bhutan and also the smart guy on the counter who downloaded a song, specially for us.

The only thing better than their service is their food. This place is amazing and if you like lamb you must come here. If you dont like lamb you should still come here. There are options to sit at a standard table and chair or you can choose a more traditional floor seat. They have some interesting drink choices. Overall i have been here twice and I will keep coming back. Excellent place.

My favourite restaurant of all time, i love sitting on the cushions, i love the middle eastern decor & music, i love the lentil soup, the chicken kebab plate, the afghan tea, from start to finish i enjoy every second of it & this is the most worth it money you will spend on dinner. ️

Normally, I like taking my friends there for their good reputation but I was disappointed last Sunday July 25,2021. This all started with Salad; I am pretty sure this was leftover salad from the night before (definitely not fresh) because we were there right after the restaurant opened like 5: 45pm. The Afghan platter we ordered (if recalled menu right), came with lamp shoulder and meat skewers that were very dry not juicy and even the rice was cold or maybe mildly oven heated.overall food was terrible and server we had the elderly gentleman (maybe the owner) has no sense of service and a bit rude or may not understand English very well.

Great place with a group of friends. Just went there last night for a birthday and it was overall an awesome experience.

The service was super good. It was a busy Friday night, but one of the staff was able to get us in after 15 minutes. I believe it was the owner/manager who helped us out all evening, suggesting dishes and drinks and even comped us some Afghan tea.

The food itself was very solid, huge portions and fun to eat and try as a group. The lamb in particular was great, super tender with a wonderful spiced flavor.

This place is a gem! Great food, great service and the prices are totally reasonable. We had the Potato Boulany, the Dolmah, and the Combo Shish Kebabs - all amazing. Love the fried potato! We felt safe on their patio, all the tables are properly spaced out and staff was wearing masks. Can't wait to go back.

Had another great experience at Afghan Horsemen once again. This place never fails to disappoint, especially if you choose the floor seating and order the platter. A true Afghan dining experience like no other place in town. Highly recommend if you haven’t been here yet. Only downside was that they had one tune playing on repeat which got kinda boring after a while.

Just tried for the first time on June 4 2021 and this definitely makes my Vancouver top 10 list for sure.incredible, unique taste, great cultural atmosphere, and wonderful service. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent food and great service. Week day tempo was perfect for us to take our time and enjoy the amazing dishes and mint tea after. The staff was really professional (remembering everything with attention to details and without a notepad, as a former server, I take my hat off!), friendly and accommodating with our group. Plus the covered patio tables are lovely. We'll be back for sure.

A lovely place with amazing food.
Highly recommend the lamb shoulder & lamb shank. It’s so soft and tender. Slides right out from the bone. Effortless with the bone in meats.

Afghan horsemen was one my favorite restaurants in bc. I used to bring groups of 15 to 20 people. The service was incredible especially seyeer was excellent, but this time it was unpleasant and disappointing.sorry folks but we are not going to come back again.

The mantu (Afghan dumplings) are amazing
wonderful ambiance
All the staffs were very friendly
LOVE THEIR RICE! They added raisin in it and it's slightly sweet. Very unique
We also loved the fried potato! Super crispy
Excellent Lamb shoulder. Super tender and loved the char
Good kebobs but I prefer the ground meat kebobs (personal preference only)

Final thoughts:
A bit hard to find the location. It's on the 2nd floor.

The owners of this restaurant were hosting a 30 person party. Everyone was standing, mingling, maskless. My dinner was ruined when a group of 5 of these anti-maskers insisted on crowding around my table maskless. When asked to go somewhere else or wear a mask I was simply ignored. I ended up packing my food to go. I was pretty frustrated, now I have to worry about my health and exposure for the next several weeks.

Order samosa it was two small and its filled with some carrots peas and little potatoes and its not mashed it seems they filled with some other vegetable dish.not a samosa atall
