Bread was nothing special
Beef, lamb, chicken kabob was 6/10
Lamb shank was good
Mantu dumplings was 5/10

Party of 4. Main Meals came out at different times so you are waiting for the other party to get their food before eating

I think if you are south Asian you won’t like it. Great for white people as the dishes have flavour but not enough flavour for South Asians.

Server dropped the water on the floor and broke the glass. My phone went with it and spilled all over my phone and my clothes. And nothing. Not an appie comped nothing. Almost cut my hang on glass reaching for my phone. I kept saying where is my phone as I couldn’t see it. Instead of picking it up for me. He was directing me to it. Probably because it was surrounded by glass. Fortunately, my screen was fine and hand not cut otherwise there would have been a lawsuit.

Celebrated my birthday there and the food was excellent, highly recommend the lamb (from the grill), afghan chicken and nuggets. Very busy place so reservations are a must. The only room for improvement would be the music, it is way too loud and it’s hard to have a decent conversation.

The food was so well-presented and tasted incredible! Service was very hospitable and friendly. Definitely will be coming back for more!

I would book a reservation as well, as the place got quite busy when we were leaving (Wednesday evening).

First time here, was in the mood to try something new and was pleasantly surprised. The service was fantastic and our server explained the menu exceptionally and the food fantastic. This is a place we look forward to returning and even having some celebrations at.

I never knew that Afghan food can be this good. Lamb was delicious and tender. Perfectly seasoned with the rice. I can go back for more. Perfect for dates and family. Make a reservation!

On Saturday, I, along with three others who have recently arrived in Canada, visited the Afghan Kitchen. In Afghanistan, I was engaged in hotel management and teaching hospitality.

This restaurant is merely a showpiece meant to represent an Afghan dining experience, but it fails to capture the essence of traditional Afghan hospitality and the authentic taste of Afghan cuisine. Additionally, the cleanliness of the staff and the pricing of the services do not match the overall presentation.

Please do not base your final opinion about Afghan restaurants on this experience alone.

Watch out! If you're coming with kids that occupy any space in this restaurant, make sure you ask if they'll count as part of any gratuity charges. We were caught by surprise when the waiter stated that the two kids both under 2yrs were counted as two individuals making up for the 8 person count for gratuity charges when we only had 6 adults at the table. Definitely, haven't ever experienced this at any other restuant and certainly won't be returning to this one!

The food here is so good! Had very good experience and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend Zabi and his team are amazing

We have been here several times, and keep coming back! The food is always consistent, flavourful and does not feel heavy. They have one of the better customer service, I have seen compared to most restaurants in Vancouver and Surrey. Love the vibe of this place. Hats off to the owners and team!

Good service and atmosphere, food authenticity can be debated as had better authentic afghan food in less expensive and smaller places

3 stars for the ambience and the sitting arrangement they had. The Kabab were really nice and chicken was well marinated and juicy. However, rice and gravy lack the spicy flavor and felt bland on our taste buds. Mayne, asking customers about the expected spicy level and customizing the dish accordingly will improve the taste. Also, the portion size was relatively small compared to the price.

We ordered take out from here for dinner and were blown away. Everything was flavourful and well presented. The menu is clearly labelled for dietary preferences and there is a great selection for gluten free and vegetarian. Loved the eggplant dip and eggplant dishes! We will absolutely be back as the one small issue we had was quickly cleared up by the restaurant.

Always amazing at Afghan Kitchen. Good staff with great recommendations. The food is not spicy nor heavy. The portions are large and the plates are great for sharing. Drinks are amazing - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Would recommend this for anybody from our of town or looking for a good date night.

First time. Food was outstanding. Restaurant was packed with long lines to get in. Very nice and friendly staff. They make the extra effort greeting you at the door so you feel welcome and comfortable immediately. Will definitely be back. We loved it.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Finished the meal with Turkish coffee and 'Mamas secret cake'. Presentation of food was also very well done. This was my first time trying Afghan food, will definitely go back!

Amazing food and loved the egg plant with Afghani rice. And saffron tea was so refreshing. The desserts are simply amazing, no words to describe the amazing taste.

We ordered the Afghan Nuggets.twice. That says it all!

The Afghan Chutney Caesar was flavourful and refreshing - ask to have it spicy, you won't regret it!

We ordered the Mantu dish thinking it would be another appy we could share. It become the main for both my husband - 8 large steamed beef dumplings, delish split peas and yogourt to accompany. The flavour from this dish is next to none! Looking forward to my leftover Mantu for lunch tomorrow.

New found love for this restaurant. Had the plater for two shared among 3 people it was more then enough! A great serving size for 2-3 pax. The variety on the plater are great for people that wants a little bit of everything on the menu.

It was my first time trying Afghan cuisine and it was DELICIOUS! Food, service, space was all great. I went with my family, from young (5 years old) to old (80+ years old), everyone was able to enjoy the food. We'll definitely be back! Thank you for the great experience:)

The ambiance is great, the food is amazing the service is even better. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. We had the Happy Taster which was a good variety of appetizers and very good. For dinner we had Kololi and the Afghan chicken. The chicken was fall off the bone with amazing flavors and spices. All the food we tried was great and the overall experience was excellent.

I went to this place on recommendation and had the afghan feast for 4 with my table group. The lamb shank was big, juicy and tender. Delicious chicken and kebob fresh off the bbq. Had a platter of flatbread filled with potatoe. The platter of rice, eggplant, spinach and potatoes with pickled cabbage - yummy! The dumplings filled with beef and lentils were hearty. Paid roughly $10 as sharing with 3 other people. I highly recommend the food here. Service was attentive. Ambience was lovely. Great place for families, groups and couples.

Went with a group of 4 and the only thing more enjoyable than the homemade dumplings and lamb shank dinner was the great conversation with our server! Above and beyond. Everything was perfectly spiced and cooked spot on. Nothing was dry. First time coming but it won't be my last.

First time eating here and we will definitely be back. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. Staff was friendly and attentive. Can't say enough good things.

Tip: If you want to sit in traditional seats, please call and reserve that.

Warm welcome by Hassib and he recommended a platter for 2 (KBL to YVR) which covers pretty much the favorites on the menu as soon as he knows this is our first time. Lamb shank, Chicken Kebab, Chicken Korma, Egg plant, sauted spinach, potato masala and big serving of saffron rice. Everything was delicious.

Must haves are the Arezo drink, Turkish coffee and rosewater ice cream.

Can't wait for a next visit!

This restaurant is like the Muhammad Ali of boxing, no comparison. Food is amazing but the hospitality is something special, have been going here for years and will continue to support such an amazing family run establishment. Keep up the amazing work!

My wife and I chose to visit the Afghan Kitchen on a whim and.what a great choice that was! From appy to dessert, the food flavours were beyond our expectation while the service was attentive and personable. We will return!

Amazing experience! The food was 10/10 (I recommend the lamb shoulder for taste and serving size!) The place looks beautiful and has such a great menu. The staff was very nice and were so great to surprise my mom with dessert for her birthday. I can’t wait to return soon:)

We sat in the traditional side of the restaurant and it was cozy, felt very much like a home setting between friends. The food portions are generous and the staff are helpful and awesome especially Kendra she really went above and beyond what I would expect of a server. I will definitely return i dont normally like hummus but i tried it here and i did enjoy it! The afghan rice is a must try with dishes with rice!

This place has really yummy food along with good ambience. We were a little confused to begin with as they have so many good options. I would totally recommend their Shami Kabab. It is so soft and melts in your mouth, Afghan Chicken has that unique flavour to it. You should also try the Grilled Spice Chicken, it was soo good. Although it was chicken breast but it was well done and it comes with potatoes instead of rice and to be honest everyone on the table was after the potatoes. Other suggestions are Bolani and Mantu. They have really good desert options too, we tried their Shir Yakh and Firni. Both are really great and I would suggest both.
One thing I would like to mention is I tried their lamb kabab and I have tasted better. The taste was good but it was chewy.
There are a lot of veg options to try as well.

Amazing food. Came with family after lockdown and had a great meal. Accommodated gluten free very well, with lots of options and variety. We got two platters and we ate a ton of different meats and sauces and dips. Great strong flavours with fresh ingredients, no muddled tastes. I'll be back

My girlfriend and I came to Afghan Kitchen for the first time yesterday, and the whole experience was amazing.the seating was perfect, the customer service was second to none, and the food was spectacular.we had never really had Afghan food before, and our waitress walked us through different dishes and explained what was in each meal.we will definitely be coming back

Very clean, attentive service, pretty decor, generous portions. The chefs are passionate about their family recipes, but it was much too bland for what I expected of Afghan cuisine and the meal was served lukewarm.

I was so excited to go out and try their food by the reviews I read but unfortunately I was very disappointed. Their costumer service was very rude. I am very disappointed.

From the food to the decor and last but not least, customer service, Hassib has mastered it all! This was my first time at Afghan Kitchen and can’t seem to stop raving about it to all my friends and family. I absolutely devoured all the food (hence no pictures) but from the first bite till the last… the flavors still linger in my mouth as I type this review. That first bite of food was such a tantalizing experience…. I couldn’t have asked for more. But Hassib even went above and beyond to ensure that my dad who was in a wheelchair was accommodated after I forgot to mention that in my initial reservation. Bravo for running such a tight ship and giving everyone once heck of a time.

Surprisingly good! We have never tried this cuisine but I'm very happy we tried this place as it makes me want more!

The food! Chicken nuggets has a really good batter and the yogurt dip was good!

The afghan chicken with rice portion was probably enough for the 2 of us, comes with 2 legs and one drumstick and specialty rice. Did I mention it was a lot of food? The tomato gravy works so well in the whole dish!

Tried the bolani, (potatoe in naan?) the picture doesn't do it justice as the whole piece was huge! Also very yum as it's flavorful and has a crispiness to the bottom. Unfortunately, there was not enough yogurt dip for the whole thing and they charged 3$ for a small additional dip (didn't tell me it's extra either), if they gave a bowl of it then fine but it should've just came with more. I won't take a star off as the food was definitely good and enjoyable but I hate being charged for condiments that comes with the order and they didn't give enough of it. Please stop charging extra for it!

The rosewater ice cream was good but I think I'll try the other gelato nice time! The dark chocolate and pistachio sounds delicious

The staff here are delightful and the food is excellent. So many delicious flavours. This is the 2 person platter for take out with an added on potato pancake, which is definitely enough food for four.

DO NOT GO HERE, bland food, and expensive!
Went here with my family and was highly disappointed by the lack of heaters in the patio area and rude behavior from the staff at the start. The food came and it was very bland, no taste and seemed like microwave food. Everything we ordered was tasteless including the chicken, rice, bolani, vegetarian platter and the CHAI! Stay away from this restaurant as it is over priced to oblivion with and will ruin your whole day. I would like to add and send a message to the owner, if you are really this hands on and doing the job of a waiter in your restaurant, then please do the job of a customer and taste your own food! With this price point and this low quality with bland tasting food is unacceptable. I would also like to add this was never about the patio heaters as no one even mentioned the heaters being broken. Please Hassib, taste your food and let me know if I have misspoken as you were a great host.

1. Excellent customer service! Our servers were very courteous, helpful and kind. Bonus points- even the owner was helping to clean up tables!
2. Beautiful ambiance inside and decor 3. Presentation is 10 out of 5 stars! Beautiful plating of the food!
4. Taste of the food was so good!
5. Portions were massive! We ordered the KBL - YVR platter for 2 and we barely scratched the surface.
6. Price - I would say their prices are quite reasonable for the portion they give.
Overall, the team at Afghan Kitchen is doing an amazing job!

This has been the best restaurant experience ive ever had! Very warm and welcoming staff and very knowledgeable about the food and afghan culture. I want to let everyone know to order the ice cream! By far the best ice cream in my life. A very genuine yet modern afghan vibe/energy. The only thing i would suggest is to have a live music night with traditional afghan music. 100% back and bring friends and family. Thank you.

Nice ambience and food. Visited them first time and got chance to sit on their traditional sitting area. Ordered afghani nuggets, afghani chicken with rice, kebab platter and sheer yakh. Everything turned out delicious. There portions are huge. Have lots of options in alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Our server kendra was nice as well she suggested us what to try here if you come for first time. Overall good experience.

Food was really good and i loved traditional style eating area.just they have to work more on clean up specifically on that area.
