Loved the food and service. Staff is very kind and polite. Best part is you get stamp cards which is a plus here. We’ll definitely visit this place again.

Best Ramen spot in the area for sure. Definitely a must try. Great selection of soups and toppings.

Food was amazing, nice atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff. Small restaurant so we had to wait about 20min, but glad we did. Ordered pan fried gyoza (on the small side but tasty), karage (yum) and meat lovers ramin with red soup base (creamy and delicious…I love the veggies, meat was excellent). Will definitely go again.

Been coming here for years, have never deviated from the usual order. Why change something so good already? Great portion size for what you get, staff is always welcoming and sweet, and the food service has gotten faster over the years I’ve noticed.

The quality of the ramen is top tier. They make their own noodles, the eggs are perfect every time, and the broth… THE BROTH. It’s all just beautiful

Cant wait to see y’all on Friday again for another tasty dinner ️

Probably one of the best Ramen places around. Been going here weekly for a couple months now with a friend and they are awesome.
Great food and amazing service. Always look forward to returning.

Edit: Still amazing! Awesome food.

Best ramen in Metro Vancouver. Chicken broth is amazing! Eggs are always perfect and and staff is very helpful.

My favorite ramen in Metro Vancouver area!

I can have it everyday absolutely! @
Plz stay here and keep the great taste

As a tonkatsu ramen lover I'm generally not a fan of chicken broth, but this place is amazing in their simplistic yet versatile offerings. Top notch ramen egg which I would highly recommend everyone to try once
27 December 2022 2:10
Didn't take photos. Completely forgot when my ramen showed up. Just go. It's so good
21 December 2022 15:35
Was introduced to this place by a friend of mine and I keep coming back for more ramen! They’re that good. And since I don’t eat pork, the chicken based broth is a huge plus for me!
19 December 2022 9:57
Their ramen is great. Chashu and broth taste wonderful. Will visit there again for Japanese ramen.
09 December 2022 2:55
Absolutely delicious. Closes early! Make sure you get your name on the list. Some ramen places are quite salty - this was not. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. We will come back for sure.
23 December 2021 7:12
Best Ramen.
Very cozy place with great service.
All the food is great. Especially the gyoza and karaage
13 December 2021 15:32
Would rate 3.5-4 but rating 3 to bring the rating down a tad since there are no 1/2 stars.

Soup was tasty (black and red) but ingredients were a bit lacking. 2-4 pieces of chicken and the broth was 2/3 of the bowl.

We ordered the gyoza (agi = deep fried). Wasn’t bad but nothing to write home about.

Had the karaage which was tasty as the chicken was marinaded before it was deep fried. Wasn’t too oily.

Service was good. And they let me put my name on the wait list when I asked which saved me 10 min of waiting.

Will be in Langley lots now due to kids sporrs so slowly checking out the offerings. Surprised they there’s lots of pretty good food. Although always skeptical there are so many 4-4.5 star restaurants in Langley.

Best ramen I've had out in Langley so far. Highly recommended. Chicken karaage was also really good.

If you have taste buds, do yourself a favor and avoid Aketo Showten. The food is extremely mediocre to the point of being borderline offensive.

I must clarify here that I'm not writing this review due to any sort of poor experience with the staff or service - they were excellent; very courteous and checked back on us frequently. This is entirely based on the food quality, or in this case, unfortunate lack thereof.

The entire purpose of my trip, the ramen, was disappointing to the point of near disbelief. The chāshū was extremely underwhelming - the chicken was EXTREMELY dry and rubbery and the pork was just bland, although fortunately, edible. Most of the bowls you can order come with this chicken, and that's NOT a good thing. There was a noticeable foul flavour imparted by the propane/butane torch that's used to "BBQ" the meat. It's not barbeque by any stretch of the imagination. If you visit expecting authentic chāshū BBQ style meat, you will be sorely disappointed.

The noodles were pale, gummy, and squishy - nothing like the yellowish, bouncy, chewy alkaline noodles I have come to expect from quality ramen. This in itself would be enough to kill the dish but unfortunately the broth (we tried two, both the black and red style) was not flavourful and mostly tasted like salty water. The menu does describe the broth as being made from "100% pure chicken, vegetables, and special spices” that are "stewed together over a long duration of time to produce a creamy texture" but unfortunately my experience did not align with this description whatsoever. There's also a mention that the broth contains no MSG, as some sort of measure of quality. If you read this, Akedo Showten management, I urge you to strongly reconsider this stance on MSG as it will improve your product noticeably; give SASA brand MSG a try.

After thoroughly not enjoying the Ramen (although I did enjoy the egg, shout out to that little guy), my hope was that our trip would not be in vain as we still were yet to try the house-made "PARI" Gyoza. Gyoza are a simple, easy crowd pleaser that's quite hard to screw up. Unfortunately, Aketo Showten falls flat here as well. We ordered them Yaki style, and to their credit the gyoza had some decent texture. Unfortunately they were flat, and mostly flavourless; the dipping sauce did not help at all, somehow managing to just be a salty and sour mess that managed to make an already disappointing dumpling, depressing. The filling was simply not good. I'm not a vegetarian but I genuinely feel bad for any animals that lived and died to produce something that I regret putting in my mouth.

To summarize:

Pros
- Pretty good egg
- Nice cold water
- Large portion size for ramen bowls
- Excellent service staff

Cons
- Very bad "chāshū"
- Gummy noodles more akin to western pasta than genuine ramen made w/ kansui
- Broth leaves a LOT to be desired, we tried both the red/miso and black/soy flavours
- Gyoza are flavourless with an unappetizing sauce, although they have a decent texture

All-in-all, I'd give this a 1/5. Unfortunately this just isn't worth the money or the trip. Store-bought packaged ramen from T&T with some veggies and a soft-boiled egg will be superior to anything you can get here. I have no idea why there are so many good reviews, which makes me question their legitimacy.

My go-to ramen place! I’ve been coming here ever since the first week they opened up. The broth is so tasty and creamy, and the thin noodles are perfect. I’ve tried many ramen places in Vancouver, and I always come back to Akedo. I usually order the Original, black, add extra chashu and make it spicy. So delicious! The owners are super friendly too.
11 October 2021 7:13
Pros: Delicious egg and broth, firm noodles
Cons: small portions, low quality and quantity of meat
Ordered via takeout so portions may be different when dining in
06 October 2021 20:35
Love the noodles, service was good, need to have a little patience there is a waiting time at the door.
04 October 2021 7:20
Everything on the menu is delicious and we always look forward to seeing the friendly staff. I highly recommend trying this place of you haven't yet!
03 October 2021 10:54
I go every Wednesday the service is always fast and the servers are so lovely. Akedo showten has the best most consistent menu of any restaurant I've ever been to and if I could go everyday for the rest of my life I would.
29 September 2021 16:15
Honestly the BEST vegetarian ramen (with vegetarian broth). It's so creamy and flavours are really developed. I went there twice in one day. I've only ordered takeout, and it's packaged very well. Portion size is perfect. & Staff is very friendly!
26 September 2021 23:49
One of the best ramen places in Langley. If you like your ramen spicy, just ask for a double spicy.
25 September 2021 1:03
Great ramen with fresh ingredients, though broth portion seems a tad lacking (especially to go, it barely filled up my cooking pot). The chicken chashu is somewhat polarizing (rather lean breast meat slices). Great seared pork chashu though.
22 September 2021 8:39
I don't know why people are not honest about the portion. It's very small. Even with their Meat Lover Ramen (which comes with 4 slices of Pork & 4 Slices of Chicken), meats are very thin slices & small. Noodle portion also won't fill normal person. It seems more like a kids meal. You have to pay for all the other ingredients such as egg, miso flavor, green onions etc.by the time you add few extra ingredients & extra noodle, your bowl will be over $20. (Which other Ramen resaturant usually comes with at no charge)
Also, asked for the hot chilli oil and they charged $0.50.
Lastly, Amex has listed Akedo as participating restaurant, but they did not accept Amex.
Flavours & soup was fine.but for a quick lunch, it is too expensive.
21 September 2021 16:07
The one star is for your friendly waitresses.
I'm writing this review hoping to prevent other people from wasting their time and money on this disappointing restaurant. I have never had something so bad in a restaurant that for once I would rather have canned food as a meal. It's crazy how this place has such a high rating that I wonder if 90% of these reviews are fake and purchased by the owner?
The ramen was downright just bland. The texture of ramen noodles was painfully wrong, they were slimy and sticky. I ordered the red broth (cost extra) which is supposedly made with three different types of miso but there was no miso taste at all, just salty water. The chicken was so overcooked, chewy and tasteless that I wouldn't even give it to a homeless person, they would think I have given them plastic. The pork chashu was okay but had a propane taste to it. As for the gyoza, you actually get better gyoza if you just buy it frozen from Costco, and that's not acceptable at all for somewhere that advertises the food in their restaurant name.
I really didn't want to tip because of how bad the food was, though it had nothing to do with the waitresses. Would not come again, wish I'd never visited and I would encourage everyone to stay away from this place as well. There are many more better options in the area.
20 September 2021 3:20
I've tried to find a ramen place that even compares to the high quality here, but I can't! You won't find a better bowl of Ramen anywhere in Metro Vancouver
09 September 2021 17:37
One of my favorite Ramen! Broth is tasty and the gyoza is pan fried to perfection! Char Shu is so awesome!
04 September 2021 9:54
The waitress had her finger dipped in our broth/noodles when she brought it back out to us after we asked them to add more broth. Really gross. The food wasn't the best and not much social distancing in this restaurant.
29 August 2021 20:47
I love soup and this place does not disappoint! Such delicious rich broth! The noodles are very tasty as well. You'll have to line up for a seat but it's totally worth it.
04 August 2021 20:32
Chicken broth ramen! And Chicken Chashu! What’s not to love. They’ve got a pork chashu option too. I think it’s decently priced. The fried chicken appetizer is pretty delicious too.
11 July 2021 18:15
Always great service. I have only ever ordered for pickup. Can be a wait when they are really busy. Staff is always super friendly
03 July 2021 12:09
Honestly nothing ever beats this place for ramen. High quality, amazingly satisyfing every time and great service.
Please go here!
22 June 2021 21:36
Nope! I NEVER say this but this meal was inedible and was put straight into the green bin. The dipping sauce for the greasy gyoza was filled 1/10 of a tiny container so enough for 1 gyoza maybe. We had the loaded ramen soup and there was literally no broth so it was more like a stifry than a soup except that it was mushy and congealed and had ZERO flavour. The "veggies" were subpar and 2 TINY pieces of flavourless chicken. This was a huge waste of money and a massive disappointment. I wouldn't serve this to my dog. We had to go to the drive thru since we had no other dinner prepared and were starving.
21 June 2021 16:16
This was our first time. The portion size was good. The food was hot and tasted good. The service was quick and polite.
31 May 2021 1:25
We tried two types of ramen broth and two different styles of gyoza. Both broth types were good but lacking in noodles and doubled on veggies. Dunno if that's really the style but we've had plenty of authentic ramen before and this was the first time I got sick of the veggies included in our portions.

The gyoza were definitely tasty although the portions were quite small.

Not sure if we'd come back again after those bowls we had.

When the pandemic struck, it took a toll from my family in being able to sit down and partake in the visual and tantalizing goods that is akedo showten. Make no mistake, this humble store comes from good people that makes heavenly food. It's been raved in blogs, Instagram posts and newspapers alike. The taste of their ramen after a long while instantly transported me back to how my tongue used to feel upon its silky, mesmerizing broth. Akedo prizes itself on quality, and this is what you will definitely get. If you're there, I hope you say hi to the Japanese owners, Mio and Nori Akedo, both of whom work tirelessly to make one of the best things I have ever tasted in Langley, BC.

My favorite japanese noodle restaurant, hope your guys open doordash delivery service as soon as possible
12 January 2021 9:57
Best ramen in the lower mainland and the staff are super friendly!

I've been getting take out from here ever since the pandemic started and I always get a different amount of broth. The last two times have been a lot less.
22 December 2020 5:11
This place is the best Ramen this side of the city. Similar thick authentic broth to Jinya ramen but their own flair. Wish there were more options to add extras on online ordering, regardless it is exquisite. Every other ramen joint in the area tastes like it came from a packet, but not Akedo.
14 November 2020 12:29
If I lived closer I'd eat here every day.

Best chicken broth ramen. The way they handle their meet is amazing. Lot's of options for customizing but can't go wrong with their original. I recommed an ajitma with white broth add pork chashu.
30 October 2020 11:47
Their rame is really good. Up there with Marutama, Ramen Butcher. Their soup is comparable with Jinya' chicken ramen. (Now Zubu Ramen)

This restaurant does not follow safety protocols for COVID19. Staff and other customers were not spaced enough to ensure a 2M distance, other customers and I were positioned around 0.5-1M distance from each other, and there were several tables next to where staff prepared and processed orders within the mandated 2M bubble. When we left, I noticed they did not sanitize our table properly, just makes me worried this place could and will be another hot spot for COVID19 exposure. Would recommend getting take out if you plan to visit. Besides the spacing issue, I was given the wrong order and they made me feel like I was committing a crime for asking for the correct order, they returned a second time and asked if I could just eat it anyway. Not a good first impression. Food was okay, but given the quality of service and safety issues, I cannot recommend this place.
27 September 2020 0:25
Broth were good but in the range of saltiness. Noodles were underwhelming. It is not proper ramen noodles. Meats were good as well as eggs.deep fried gyoza is definitely not Japanese, more like Chinese. But still good. Overall, it's decent but not authentic enough for me.
