Veggie lover plate was amazing! Well balanced and fresh, big portions. The staff is very nice! Would definitely recommend this place

$19 for a chicken platter and that didn't include any extras. I didn't even get taziki which is my favorite thing on these platters. Two years ago this place was worth it, now it's nothing but a rip off.

Ordered a Veggie Lover Plate and it was absolutely delicious! The hummus was very well balanced and the falafels were crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. Excellent place for an authentic vegan meal. Will definitely go back!

The restaurant was clean, the workers were professional and the food was delicious. I highly recommend a visit.

It was goooood! Definitely aimed at the kits population in terms of flavour but good regardless and a definite recommendation.

Unfortunately.not good.
I was craving for shawarma wrap and Al Basha was on our bike ride to the beach.
I ordered 1 chicken & 1 beef. Both tasteless not even salt added. And.to make it even worse chicken wrap had thick black hair in it.

So very disappointed! This used to be our go to restaurant but twice now we have gone in and the cooks/assemblers we’re not wearing masks. The first time is was when masks were not mandatory but still, most people, especially in the food industry, were still honouring the recommendation. Tonight, we went in again and the guy was not wearing a mask! How is this acceptable? !? We are now boycotting Al Basha.

Hidden gem! Very authentic and traditional. Definitely one of the best places in the city for falafels and shawarma!

The best shawarma and falafel in town, they take the extra effort and fry falafel for customer order and offer authentic shawarma. Truly hard-to-beat and exceptional food service!

This homey and authentic joint is awesome! Mediterranean food by far is incredibly underrated and absolutely delicious.
The staff here are super generous, extremely kind, talented, approachable and very friendly. The falafel is literally to die for, they whip them up and fry em' fresh to order right infront of you. Everything has that good old homemade with love, pride and outstandiny effort factor.
I got the Falafel Plate which was very wholesome, a plentiful portion, extremely delicious combination of multiple fresh and exciting flavors containing some of the best Hummous I have ever tasted and Tabouleh which was bursting with flavor.
A great experience, would certainly go back and cannot wait to be honest. All this yumminess was packed into compostable packaging and cutlery which is fantastic and I love their ethics and morales.
My only regret is not grabbing one of those extremely yummy, fresh looking baklava goodies to go. That's my next mission!
What's also awesome, is that this quaint gem is only a five minute walk from the beach where you can drool over every single bite in front of the ocean, sunshine and mountain backdrop.

These are the best falafel I’ve ever had, perfectly fried! I also ordered the hummus and it was amazing as well. Wish I could have the tabouli but unfortunately I’m very sensitive to the grain used to make it.

Ordered two platters for take out. Got the order slightly wrong which we decided to overlook, but overall the food was quite greasy/oily and not particularly tasty.

As much as they’ve had tasty food since their opening, twice I’ve had sanitary issues with them. The first in Oct 20 when they were preparing a sandwich with one hand gloves and the other gloveless with the employee being offended by me asking to wear 2 gloves and Apr 21 when the employee was smoking outside as I walked in and followed shortly putting his mask and gloves on. I asked if he washed his hands (as he went straight behind the counter) and he put his hands up saying ‘’I’ve got gloves on’’. Thank you but no thank you. As a smoker previously in the food business, you wash your hands before you manipulate food.

Best chicken shawarma I have ever had. Every trip to Vancouver this place is my first and last stop. Amazing food, great service, family run, the owner is a fantastic guy. These guys looked after us more then once when my son was being treated at BC children's. I can not wait till the owner opens in Victoria.

Went in last Friday night for the first time and the employees were super friendly. Falafel was amazing and so was the beef. In Calgary I'm used to more opportunity to customize, but I'm not going to take off stars for not conforming to my unauthentic preference.

I had a shawarma. Wasn't too good. There was fat and bone in the chicken. Other than that it was alright. Im just used to Ottawa shawarma.and its pretty much like vancouver sushi.its just on another level from most other places.

This place has terrible work ethics. They do not follow their business hours and are not helpful in anyway. I’ve been living in the neighbour hood close to 10 years but in the past couple years they have gone downhill with providing any sort of reasonable service. Do not go. You have been warned

Always been happy with the food and service. I must say tonight everything was more delicious than ever. Incredibly fresh ingredients, the best they're ever tasted! Try the coconut cookie if you're a fan of coconut, its unbelievable.

This place is very good. The falafels are very authentic. The chicken wrap is very good too. Fastest service I got in the summer in kits, which is pretty impressive.

Great food. Perfect place to grab a bite before sittting at Kits beach and devouring some chicken shawarma.

Stopped by last night on my way home since I had heard good things. The restaurant was empty and I could only see one guy working, who greeted me and seemed friendly enough. After I placed my order he asked me if I was drunk, which immediately had me feeling alert. I had been drinking earlier, but at this point I was stone cold sober. I told him no.

He proceeded to ask me personal questions while making my food, and I felt very uncomfortable with the whole situation, and tried to give just one word or short replies. I quickly took my food and left.

I wouldn't recommend coming here alone, or at all.

Great tasting food at a low price. Food is also prepared very quickly and the staff was very friendly. The only downside was that the inside was a bit dirty, but enough to cause any discomfort.

Its hit and miss. Depends who is making your food. Sometimes its too greasy but sometimes super dry and lovely. Make sure you ask them not to use burned and oily meat

Al Basha is by far my favourite Halal / Middle Eastern eatery in Vancouver. I typically dine in or order on Doordash two or more times per month. My usual order is the Al Basha plate with extra raw onions and copious amounts of tahini and hot sauce, washed down with an ice cold Dr Pepper or Coca-Cola. While I realize that sugary soft drinks are not the healthiest possible option, it really pairs nicely with the cuisine and cuts through the richness and spice of the meal. I used to substitute the tabbouleh salad for the regular salad but I stopped doing that recently. Maybe I'll go back to my OG order soon.

The staff is usually very warm and welcoming, and the food is exceptional. Long live Al Basha.

There is no grab and go place in the area like this one. Friendly staff, tastey, faster than McDonalds honestly and well priced. Can't go wrong!

The food here is really fantastic. The only thing is that the wrap portion size is a bit too small. (perhaps they give me a smaller portion because they see I'm a small person though). Bigger portion on the wraps would be nice, especially for small people who still eat a lot! Ask for extra chicken and vegetables.

Buy their homemade coconut cookie - it's really good!

Good go-to for late night cheap HEALTHY, freshly made eats. Their wraps are big and filling enough for a meal only $6-7; combo plates $10. You order Subway style. The food is good, lamb is too salty though, but no atmosphere. Tables always dirty/greasy and tippy, self-serve water is warm, always almost out. It's accessible both the entrance and large washrooms which were surprisingly pretty clean.

Everything about this falafel wrap is perfect. Every time. In one cheap and easy meal, there is such a variety of textures in perfect balance: cold, fresh, crispy vegetables with hot and crunchy yet soft steamy falafel drenched in rich tahini mixed with tangy hot sauce, all wrapped in a chewy but tender fresh pita. Al Basha on Cornwall Ave.is part of a chain of restaurants that serve mainly shawarma, and falafel wraps and combination dishes. Their shawarma wrap in particular is one of the best in Vancouver, chicken marinated and then roasted to perfection. Even if these establishments are not too fancy, the quality of the food is worth a visit. Service is quick and friendly, prices are moderate. They open till late too, so this is an option after a night out!

Service was terrible, the sign outside the restaurant says halal, but there isn't a halal certificate in the restaurant, when I asked the lady owner where the meat was coming from her answer to me was "I know my meat is halal and that's all that matters" I was merely only trying to help her as I'm associated with the BCMA community in Vancouver. I'm sure the food is good as it looked good. But the service was very disappointing. If your a true Muslim don't go to this place it seems to be a hoax. If it doesn't bother you check it out and write a review I'd like to know how others feel about this place

Break your jaw with some of the best shawarma in the city. Small place with big flavours. Great portions and staff will make it the way you like it and fresh when you order. The marinate is unique and not traditional middle eastern but still absolutely delicious. Ask for a $1 or 2 extra meat and prepare yourself for a feast. The owners are great people too. All this writing is now making me hungry for a chicken shawarma lol

Wonderful food at this place. Their chicken shawarma is very tasty and their service is friendly. I love this area here cause you can order to go and take it to the beach close by. Also their falafel wrap is quite good. They also offer some dessert like baclava.

Al Basha, Al Basha, Al Basha. I eat at this Place more then I wrote Al Basha in the First Sentence in a Month. Price and Food is Great. Usually getting Al Basha Chicken Plate or Lamb Donair. Portions are a Fair Size and Usually Quite Fresh. Love the Tabouleh! Willing to Drive from South-East Van to Come Here at those Wonderful Late Hours.

Not only is the food here amazing, fresh and delicious, but the staff here are very friendly including the owner!

My husband and I went there for a quick bite after work and I accidentally left my laptop there. The owner called my work number, but unfortunately I was away on vacation. He was professional and kept the laptop safe. I was able to pick up the laptop and all is right with the world!

My review of Al Basha used to be just this 'Amazing food, amazing staff 5 stars' however there has been a changeover of staff and it is really sad to see this place go so drastically downhill. I mainly frequent Al Basha In the evening or late at night, and since the change of staff, everything has fallen apart. Long waits with mistakes taking place constantly. I arrived recently with a small line up and one person waiting and there were mistakes made with nearly every order and the person was waiting while their order was flat out not made, they were eventually given my order! I have been a loyal customer for 6 years and now I guess I will have to find a new place to go: (I leave the review with 2 stars instead of less as the food is still great if u can manage to get what u ordered and without waiting for ages to do so

Edit: I am updating this rating to a 4 only because more times than not they don't have whole wheat pitas just plain white ones and it would be nice to know I can always get a wrap on whole wheat! Still great food though!

This is my favorite go-to place in the neighborhood! The customer service is consistently excellent and the food is delicious. I can't get enough of their falafels! A real gem:)

Excellent place with generous portions of meat and rice and a pita. The Al-basha plate was enormous and tasty. The place got really crowded around lunch time but it was worth the wait. Friendly owners.
