Alfie's No Frills

3rd time shopping here, so far loving the prices and the parking. Today got a pack of 24 eggs, 9 of which were broken and already rotten My bad for not checking it in the store, but wish the staff would do this.

Everything you need, in one convenient little store! Reasonable prices, and thoughtful specials.
And free parking! (Amazing for this part of town!)

I've been shopping here since they opened about 10 years ago because it's in my neighbourhood. Lots of free underground parking in P1 and P2. Never shopped at another older location on Alma and West 4th before, even though a friend told me about the cheap prices 20 years ago. Their weekly specials are a good deal and I just stock up on non-perishables. Staff is ok and there are new young workers every 6 months. This Asian guy has been there the longest and is the inventory manager of the back room. He's very friendly and helpful. I wanted a whole case of Red Rose tea and asked them to leave it on the top shelf (no storage in the back room) for me next week. I came back and saw it at the top and asked someone to take it down for me. Most of my shopping is done at Safeway and at this store.

The security guards keep following me around there. I'm profesionaly employed in the area only a few blocks away so idk what their problem is

This No Frills always has a good atmosphere, great spacing in aisles and has stock even on sales items. The parking is underground and plentiful.

Decent place and has indoor parking for smaller vehicles. Okay for sale shopping but we stuff is over priced. The call button for the elevator in the store was broken when I went too.

I buy gift cards for my staff regularly through the company’s credit card on a regular basis
This is the first time I was told by a store I can only use cash or debit to pay for the gift cards
Super frustrating as I have never seen this policy in any other store
Definitely not coming back.

A grocery shop with a very reasonable price. The fruits and vegetables are fresh. They also have many varieties of snacks

Throughout the pandemic this has been my grocery store more often than any other because I really appreciate how they managed the shopping experience. The staff are helpful and efficient. The line moves quickly and I never feel like I'm losing patience with the staff or customers (no supermarket has ever had a perfect score in this category especially during the pandemic as it's more work for everyone but Alfie's did it). No, they don't carry fancy products like organic peanut butter, specialized deli or bakery, but safety and mental health is a priority during these times. Kudos to your staff and customers alike.

It's a no frills. Nothing bad about that, gets the job done. Theres occasionally some very good deals, particularly if you're willing to buy in larger quantities. Selection leaves a bit to be desired, but great for staples. Staff seem god at their job, lines move fairly quickly. No complaints, but nothing exceptional.

We live walking distance from this excellent store.

Their veges in particular are very fresh and good. One sees e.g. Avocados at almost half price to the same thing at Whole Foods.

There’s lots of choices for staples - OK, it’s not a gourmet store, but it doesn’t pretend to be. So overall high marks.

And the staff are cheerful and welcoming, so it’s nice to shop there as it’s well organized.

Good prices. Never any staff to answer questions or to help find something. As price is a concern of mine It is my go to store.

Years ago it was anybody's guess if they have even the most common of produce items. They are much more reliable now, the produce is generally of high quality (not IGA grade, but also generally not IGA prices). This is an excellent store to pick up staples and flyer specials.
It's kept clean and staff are constantly restocking. Recommend for those who don't need their grocery store to be more than place to buy groceries.

Awesome. It was well socked, prices are reasonable and the produce seem fresh. It was not super busy when I went there on Sunday and there were plenty of parking available

Good deals on some standard good items. Would buy produce elsewhere, but they still have competitive prices.
Absolutely great staff.

Alfie is one of the worst owners I've ever had to deal with. He treats his neighbours, employees, and sometimes customers like garbage. The meat here is dubious. I'm happy I moved and no longer shop here.

Didn't like how they set up the store. Made it difficult to walk through the store. They blocked main walkways, making you take long way around the store.

The line up to pay is REALLY long! It seriously stretches all along the front window and then often wraps around the frozen food aisles too. Crazy! It's frustrating and kinda inexplicable.

But otherwise, it's a No Frills.as you might expect.

Optimum club members BEWARE! This store is making their own rules as far as points go. Went there today to obtain 48 cans of no name evaporated milk, they would only let me use 20 cans for points. Make another bill for the rest of the cans to pay for them without points. Watch your receipts if you need to shop there but i would take my business elsewhere and i did. Something sleezy going on in this store.

Always long lines with no staff, new self check out has huge line ups. Frozen food started to thaw after waiting for who knows how long.
Always like this when I shop here. Prices are good most of the time.

Very convenient location. Parking is free and ample. I always get what I need at No Frills. Fair pricing as well. I love No Frills.

Good selection of produce at decent prices. Bakery selection is small and unremarkable. Meat selection seems okay. Processed food and frozen food selection is huge. Good place to get dairy at cheap prices.

A lot of selection and space for a No Frills store. A lot of frozen food selection, especially. Clean store and nice staff.

Well kept and clean. Good lighting. One of the smaller stores but you can get most essentials here. Fruits and veggies, eggs, milk, dairy products fresh Meats, frozen items, snacks, chips and pop, juice, etc.selection isn't as large as the Cambie and Broadway store. Prices are low and reasonable. A good shopping experience, self checkout, or cashier and usual Optimum points and MasterCard or debit accepted.

It's no frills. Don't expect frills and you won't be disappointed. Cheaper than the one in West end and free parking!

Alfie's is a No-Frills store. No Frills is pretty much standard except for the setup in Alfie's. It's not a purpose-built store, obviously so there's a lot of dead ends and odd posts built into shelving. If you're used to your old No Frills you will not really get how this one works. But it's still no frills.

Very reasonable prices but often are slow in restocking during the week. They've recently added in self check out which has helped with the cashier line ups.

Much better than the no frills (Sahota's) on Hastings. There are self check-outs, The store is much cleaner, and they don't follow you around, like you were going to steal something!

Decent prices on some items. Decent selection. Probably the most reasonably priced grocer in the area.

Truly no frill. The interior is stark and no frill too. The produce section is relatively small, compared to a Superstore.

Similar prices as in a Superstore on many items, such as bananas. Some items a bit cheaper.

Check out is not too busy. And there are self-checkout tills.

Visa is not accepted. Only Mastercard.

Unfortunately today, I have to review the automated checkout stands. They cannot replace human checkout clerks especially when there are long lineups. What is utterly unsatisfactory is having two manned lines open when the store is so busy especially on the weekends. There is a large sign indicating that all checkouts are open during certain times.

Store owner: Do not take the sign down to justify the reduction in staff.

In the next paragraph the comments still are valid.

Always a thrill at Alfie's No Frills the clerks are very helpful. A year later Alfie's upgraded and makes it easier overall. Staff are wonderful and kind if you are not sure about something. And I notice if patrons are slow or having difficulty Alfie's is kind and considerate and willing to help.

Best place for budget buys. This No Frills is amazing, and especially shines through at Christmas time. Best place for toiletries and essentials such as tinned tomatoes, sauces, etc on a budget, with nice selection and good service. Only docking a star as meat can sometimes be of lower quality on the pork and chicken front.

Do disappointed. I was there at 830 PM last night. The fresh produce counters were bare. There was only one cashier and the line up was at least 7 people deep. They have switched to self check out but only 2 out of 5 were working. We were lined up there and the line up behind us kept kept getting longer as well as the line at the cashier. There were two cashiers not on the till and seeing the lines get longer. Finally a customer got angry and demanded to know why only one cash was open and why only two out of five self check out is working. Finally another cashier opened a till. I paid at the self check out, took my groceries and receipt and went home only to find that I had a blank receipt. So make sure that your receipt has printed. This No Frills is going down hill fast.

Perfect spot to load up before sailing out of Granville Island. Prices are fair, and lots of variety. Good selection. Not super busy. Having security there is a nice touch.

It's a no frills. There are truly no frills here.

This is not one of those dodgy low price supermarkets where it's your responsibility to make sure your food is fresh. Product is well kept and cycled regularly, selection is decent, and prices are what you'd expect from a No Frills.
Mostly positive experiences from this store, and it sure does help save a couple bucks on your grocery bill.

It's cheap. Luck seems the only way to have it well stocked. Lines often pretty long. But it's cheap.

What can you say? A supermarket that sells food at a decent price. Quality? Probably not. Closest shop to my house? Yes, so I keep going back. The name says it all. No thrills.

I have been shopping here since it opened. Decent weekly sales, Store is very clean and great selection. Monica is my go to cashier very friendly and funny. Keep up the good work.

Clean location and free parking. Wish the carts were free instead of trying to get a loonie for them and their fruit and veg section has more stock and section.

Good for quick stops. Staff are friendly however there are a few who could use some deodorant and a couple who could be more subtle with the perfume/cologne. Could be a bit cleaner. None of these stop me from running in from time to time to grab something.

Good place well priced. Unfortunately I have found manager from India with an attitude of customer and staff always being wrong while she is right. A more Canadian attitude would be good

I Love this store! Great deals every day! Thanks for opening so close to me! Good selections, wish they had a better bakery but other than that, no complaints whatsoever!

Small but usually well stocked (except for Sundays). They now have Express checkout and accept visas at certain tills, which is very helpful. Definitely most affordable major grocery store in the area.

Kid on the PA system. "you have 5 minutes to pay for your goods and vacate the store". I was already in line and chuckled and asked if he was serious. He glared at me and said "YES". Terrible customer service. Completely ignorant kid.

It's no frills! Moderate selection and decent quality, they mean it when they say no frills. But we go all the time still since the produce goes on screaming deals and you can earn optimum points by shopping there.

I didn't know the used boxes to put your groceries in were a frill until they took them away. Way to stay true to your roots!

Best prices in the city. (With the caveat that you are only buying staples. If you need any slightly less common you'll be out of luck.)

Very small meat department. The meat looked poor quality. No deli, No bakery, and the produce is ok but looks like seconds from farms.

I love Alfie's it's the best supermarket in Vancouver. The layout is simple, prices are low and it's the best place to do a weekly shop. Go elsewhere for fancy things
