Ali Baba Capilano Cafe

Really small place. The owner was chatting with a table of customers who had finished their meal, and wasn’t in a hurry to make my order. The wrap itself was also nothing spectacular.

The atmosphere at this small restaurant may not be fancy and the place could use a bit more tidying up, but the food is truly good. We tried the grilled liver and heart, and both dishes were exceptionally flavorful and well-prepared. Despite the humble setting, the taste of the food deserves a 5-star rating.

Unfortunately this is the only restaurant that serves grilled liver and heart in Vancouver and there is no other alternative. That’s why the business owner doesn’t care about the costumer service and the restaurant design and atmosphere. Almost all tables are dirty and it’s a little bit messy.

Unfortunately I have to say, ZERO customer service…

Drove over an hour to try it out.only for them to be closed.despite their hours stating they would be open. I tried calling but had no answer. Oh well. Their loss.

Thanks Ali Baba but the hygiene and cleanliness of your Restaurant needs to be taken care of immediately and thoroughly.

The owner was so rude, he needs to improve his customer service but I won't come back again.

EVERYTIME I come here it’s closed, despite the hours. Would really like to try it as I live near by but frustrating when the hours don’t line up.

We stopped on our way to try “Ali Baba capilano Cafe” We ordered a couple of different things and the price isn’t the worth the food at all. We order one chicken and it tasted very bad and it was $16.99 before tax and without rice. If you wanted rice it’s $2.99 and on top of all this the rice was very bad and didn’t taste cooked at all. We asked one simple question and got lots of attitude back. Overall this isn’t worth anything. Pick a better store to spend $132.59 on.

Owner is quite rude. Was not impressed.
At least show some kindness and respect to your customers.

Best jigaraki experience I had. The taste, texture nd tenderness of jigar, gholveh and del is #1. This is now on my weekly schedule to enjoy a delicious dish. Customer service is awesome, they are so friendly and polite. Really enjoyed.

I bought one sandwich. Very bad quality, expensive, and dirty location. I only purchased one time. That’s enough.

Pretty good for Donaire fast food. Not as fresh as expected but not busy either. People seem nice and reasonable pricing. Will go back.

We were 2nd in line. Lady ahead of us ordered got our food. We waited to order (place was empty) for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, others came in and picked up to-go orders. We ordered and 20 minutes later were asked again what we wanted to order. We were there with a 5yo and the gentleman never once mentioned it would be more than a half hour to get our meal while call-aheads picked up food.

No prices in menu. I ordered the salad entree ($6.50) and my wife ordered the Vegetarian Combo Platter ($16.99 which was almost double the price of the meat entrees). After my wife balked at her veggie platter price, the lady changed it to $10.99 which was still pricier than the meat entrees.

The meat selections we wanted were not available. After just over 30 minutes we got our food. Salad was nothing remotely like their photo (it was a bed of iceberg lettuce with some cucumbers and tomatoes with a lemon herb dressing) -without olives, cheese, bell peppers, etc.

To top it off both our entrees were mediocre at best. We had one awful meal in our four days visiting Vancouver and this was it. Never again!

(2020-09-09 Update: It's near a tourist spot, so perhaps par for the course. But I've never been back to the area since my first visit. Perhaps it's much better these days.)

Best jigharaki ever. We always stop by here to taste their wonderful kababs. Highly recommended.

Test of the food is really good, but del and gigar there is very little and the price is very high compared with the food they give. You spend so much money there but u can’t get enough food. I recommend that if they put 2 more pice in del and jigar I will personally go more.

They serve traditional Iranian grilled liver, heart and belly! The prices are super low! You can get kebabs with rice for under 10 or get a few skewers of the grilled liver and heart. Delicious! Must try for all the Iranians and all other adventurous eaters!

Over priced and absolutely garbage customer service. They have no idea what customer service means.

Worst experience ever. Had their del va jigar, it was ok but funny unclean taste to it. Then we ordered a maghz sandwich and my wife and I spat it out immediately. It tasted rotten and we immediately mentioned it to the lady owner but she said maghz sandwich always tastes bad after del va jagar and offered us to wrap it to go and we refused and charged us full price. My wife and were sick for 3 days after. I warn people to stay away from this dirty and unclean place if you want to stay healthy.

Never thought that I could find Jigar in Vancouver. The chef was very welcoming and nice and food was authentic.

Authentic Persian "del & Jigar" in town. Very tasty chicken and beef BBQ as well.

Very delicious kabab, nice staff, in time for their orders (We always order here and they have been accurate about their time estimation).

Had a falafel wrap. Wrap made of three microwaved falafel balls, iceberg lettuce, tzatziki, an old pita and two tomato wedges. One of the saddest donairs I have ever had. Felt sick after. Also the tv was on almost full blast.

Got koobideh to go a few years back and quality was pretty bad while it costs as much as some high class/Quality restaurant. Meet quality is trash.

Few weeks back I called and I said I want food but the guy wouldn't make my order because it was too small and it was an hour before their closing.

I just called again and their times are not correct. It says they are open till 11: 30pm and it's 10: 30pm but no answer.

The place is dirty and ghetto while their prices are high like proper restaurant.

And why is the restaurant name is "Ali Baba" while the owner is Iranian?
