My wife and I had a fabulous time with Andres. This was our second trip with him and there will be future trips Lord willing! His attention to detail it comparable to no one. He is a perfectionist and he chooses guides who are very similar in his style. We would recommend this outfit to all who are interested in a serious fly fishing trip.
Our first trip with him was in Patagonia and this trip was to British Columbia. We’re already planning Patagonia but BC may be an annual trip since we’re a short 6.5 hours drive away.

Our family finished with Andreas, and two of his guides, Parker and Tanner over a few days and Fernie BC on the Elk River. Regardless of the fact that fishing was AMAZING, the guides were absolutely first class. My perspective is having fished all over the world with dozens of guides and the guiding experience was top class. They were all very patient with my family on the river and everyone came away better fly-fishers (it was the first float for the rest of my family, wife and 12 & 16 yr old boys). A fun and lighthearted coaching style is critical to a good experience and then there is putting you on the fish…. And oh my, did that happen. The best dry fly days (literally all day) I’ve ever had and sprinkle in some streamers in Bull trout pools and you have a recipe for amazing days in the boat! Lastly, I was a bit skeptical when I saw the comment about a “gourmet” meal until he pulled out a stove and cooked up the chicken and French press coffee! We’ll be planning Patagonia next!

I had a fantastic day on the River with guide Todd from Andres Fly Fishing. I was a complete beginner and he was incredibly patient and helpful teaching me to fly fish and he obviously knew the river like the back of his hand. Managed to net a good number of fish and the views were just awesome. Andres was in touch regularly in the lead up to the trip and was very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

When we booked andres we lucked out, i called him the night before on a whim and was able to secure the next two days for fishing. One of the nicest and most professional guides i've fished with. We had 2 great days of fishing and were able to put 2 bull trout over 28" in the net! We will be back for sure, already planning for this fall!

We fished with Parker of Andres Fly Fishing and what a great experience we had. We caught 20+ fish, most over 16"s and we are very average fly fisher people. Thank you for a great time, we will be back to fish with Parker again next year.

Andres is a fabulous fishing guide. My husband and I had a great time fishing the Elk river with him. He took the time to find the right fly whenever the fish weren’t biting and was patient with our first experience fishing from a drift boat. Food was outstanding. We caught lots of fish and are ready to go again.

We recently had the pleasure of spending a day fly fishing on the Elk River near Fernie BC that we had booked through Andres FlyFishing Limited.
From the initial booking to the morning briefing, (which the owner Andres was kind enough to do in person), right through to the end of our trip, everything was very professional and stress free.
We learned a lot from our guide John and really appreciated his patience since neither one of us had ever fly fished before. But what a spectacular place to learn.in the heart of the Rockies.
The knowledge he shared with us I'm sure will be very useful in all our future fly fishing endeavors.

Andrés was a great find for us here in Fernie, British Columbia. He runs an excellent fly fishing guide service. Besides guiding himself, he personally responds to requests and works with clients to provide a great experience. He and his guides are experts in the local fishing options and regulations. We hope to come back next year with friends and are considering his Patagonia trips. My husband had a great day on the Elk River with John. Would have done more but they were totally booked.

It was hot and fishing was a bit slow. But in the two days we fished, Andres and Tanner worked hard to put us on the fish, and cooked maybe the best fishing float meals we have had.

Andres Fly Fishing was awesome! Spent three days on float trips with them and my dad and we brought 45 fish into the boat. They took us to three rivers (Old Man, St Mary’s, The Bull), giving us a great variety of BC and Alberta fishing. We landed fish on nymphs and dry flys, and had an absolute blast with Parker, Andres, and Tanner. 100% would recommend and can’t wait to make another trek out to see them!

Andres was extremely knowledgeable and patient with a new fisher like me. Went with a friend and it was a blast! We caught 15 fish between the two of us and the meal was great. Would recommend to anyone looking to learn the elk River or hone their fly fishing skills.

Last September I fished the Elk River in Canada for 3 days, my third time with Andres. I am planning Patagonia with a group for 2023 and plan to be back with some clients on the rivers in Fernie again in 2022. All of this is because Andres is an excellent guide. Well organized, very knowledgeable and most importantly, easy to be with on a river. And he does great food.

Andres took my husband and I fishing on the Elk late in the season this year, which was a challenge in and of itself. Add my complete novice ability and my husband's expert ability and you've got a real guiding challenge! Andres was totally up for it with a perfect mix of instruction and fun. There are lots of great fishing guides out there but few of the caliber and professionalism of Andres. While Fernie is known for dry fly fishing for cutthroat throat, Andres was more than willing to change things up and help his client search out a local bull trout with a streamer set up. Even though he has decades of experience, he seemed sincerely excited to help his clients get on the fish. When a cuttie launched itself out of the water like a great white shark on national geographic to inhale a streamer, Andres yells of excitement made it clear this man loves his job! The delicious lunch and drone photos he provides clients are all great touches to the day but the reason I know I will book him again on my next trip to Fernie is his superior level of customer service and that he is just a downright great person to share a drift boat with.

As I'm not new to fly fishing I am new to using guides. Right from the moment we met Andreas I could tell it was going to be a good day. He was very professional but was also good for some laughs. The day we were out we had some very tough winds at time and Andreas gave me some great tips to get me casting where I needed the fly to go. We boated some really nice fish and to top it all off he cooked us up a phenomenal shore lunch. I will definitely use Andreas again in the future. Hopefully down in South America next time. Really appreciate the great memories Andreas!

I fished for the third time with Andres in Fernie on the Elk River early in September this year. Bluebird days and lots of eager cutties. Andres does everything well from being a reliable organizer to being an excellent lunch on the river chef. Oh, and he is a great fishing guide, probably the best I have had in likely 150 or so float trips. He words hard at the rowing, changing flies and the photos and drone videos are very cool. Most importantly he is good company on the river and will put you into fish. I hope to join him in South America soon and will be back to the Fernie area with him next summer.

Andres is the best guide I have ever had! Fun, instructive, knows his fish and the river and is, hands down, the best cook/guide I seen. I have never eaten so much in my life. Really hoping to get down to Chile soon!

I have been on the river with Andres probably 10 days or more and each day has been a fantastic trip. Andres is a quality guide with great river knowledge. His experience with entomology on the river is invaluable as are his patience. Safe transport down the river at all times with good humor and excellent boat position is constant for Andres. Either Fernie or Chile if you have the chance take it with Andres.

Andres is a fine fisherman, an exceptional guide and a great guy to spend a day on the river with. I've drifted with Andres a number of times on the Elk and St. Mary's rivers in southeastern B. C.and have always done well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Still on my bucket list is a trip to Chile to fish some rivers with him there. Can't wait!

I have fished twice with Andres and will return once travel is normal. Andres and his staff are very detailed oriented and the only surprises are pleasant ones. The waters and the land are beautiful and the fish voracious in their appetites. Sight fishing for large Browns in volcanic lakes is a unique experience. Andres is also proud of Chile's excellent food and fine wines and looks forward to sharing them with his guests. This trip is a lot of fun.

TeamTrout has traveled the world as a group of 12. We fished the Elk River with Andre the last week of August 2019 and quickly scheduled a return trip for 2020. Traveling from the US was not possible. So we hope to go back this year when travel is cleared. Andre is the utmost professional fly fishing guide and the most FUN guide I have had the pleasure of fishing with. He is passionate about the river and the fish, and it is contagious. A fly fishing trip with Andres is always a great experience regardless of your level of experience. He is a true professional at what he does. I first met Andres in 2000 fishing from a mother ship operation in the Chilean Fjords. Since then, I have fished with Andres more than any other guide and can attest that it has been a remarkable journey through these many years. My son and I have been fishing with Andres since 2015. With him personally and the guides he manages. My son has stories from every trip; Andres will put you on the fish, improve your technique and knowledge, and he has a tremendous demeanour - each outing has been very enjoyable!

We hired Andres for a fly fishing drift across the Elk River during the fall. It was my first time fishing for cutthroat on dry flies and before we boarded the drift, Andres made sure I was comfortable with my casting, mending and hook setting techniques and gave me very useful pointers.

After 5 minutes drifting, Andres took us to a spot where I landed my first cutty on a dry. Over the next few hours both me and my dad got lots of fish and Andres was always giving us tips on how to improve our performance and I felt I learned a lot about fly fishing dries during the trip. It started raining heavily and we still managed to catch more fish and we had a large bull trout aggressively biting a small cutthroat which had previously taken my fly. Quite the sight!

The food was also great: we had a proper warm meal with drinks, desert and coffee. At the bottom of the drift, the car was already waiting for us with our dry clothes. Thanks Andres, it was an unforgettable trip for both me and my dad and we look forward to come back!

A guide who gets this many good reviews over the years, from such a wide selection of clients, must be good.

Whether in Alberta or Patagonia, fly fishing with Andre is one of the best angling experiences there is.
He is an expert in his class, but is just as forgiving and helpful with complete beginners. Punctual, great boats, and amazing knowledge of the rivers he fishes, if you don’t have a wonderful day with this guy, pack it in and play golf!

I’ve fished with guides in Canada, US and Mexico and can state without hesitation that my July 2020 trip with Andres was, overall, the best guided trip I’ve experienced. The fishing was slow due to high and off-colour water but Andres worked hard all day long to ensure we had the best trip possible given the conditions. We caught fish, experienced nature, had a chilly swim and completely enjoyed both days even the rain. Perfect introduction to fishing the Canadian Rockies and Patagonia-Chile. Andres is a talented, energetic and dedicated guide whose focus on delivering a great experience to every angler, regardless of skill level, shows through in everything he does. I first fished with Andres in Fernie for 3 days and every day was memorable. Day one was on a gin-clear spring-fed lake sight-casting nymphs to large cruising rainbows and casting dries to bows rising to a damsel hatch. Days 2 and 3 were drifting the Elk River catching bull trout on streamer and cutthroats on dries. Despite early season high water, Andres put me on fish and gave appropriate guidance to ensure we brought fish to the boat. His guide lunches, with the Rockies and wildlife setting a scenic background, are among the best – grilled salmon on pasta, pressed Cuban sandwich, grilled pork medallions, salads, pastries and French-pressed coffee – and almost made it hard to resume fishing. It was a great trip. So, when it was time to plan my first trip to Patagonia with my best friend, it was easy to decide to whom I should trust such a trip, knowing Andres grew up fishing Patagonia-Chile. I have described the week spent with Andre and his team in Coyhaique as “life expanding - the fishing experience was great, the scenery jaw-dropping, and the lodge was first-rate, comfortable with unassuming luxury with excellent food and wine included. Andres tailored the fishing experience to our goals and introduced us to the varied waters in the area: a pristine high-mountain turquoise lake with water so clear you could see fish 20 feet down but not another boat, followed by an easy walk and wade casting to rising fish on a lazy river meandering through cow pastures; followed by floats down larger rivers where casting and hook set technique came into focus; culminating in two days on high mountain lakes were the legendary Patagonia weather – rain and rising wind - added challenge and adventure as Andres found sheltered pockets where we could present a fly to big lake browns. Every day the guiding was first-rate and the shoreline meals were a memorable part of every day. I have yet to meet another guide who makes as impressive food (perfectly cooked seared salmon and tuna; bacon wrapped filet mignon), a selection of local wines or tops it off with a freshly brewed coffee or latte. Andres’ professionalism, attention to detail and enthusiasm comes through in every aspect of the trip - from his guiding, to designing fishing experiences to meet each angler’s goals, to introducing us to local foods (like an impromptu stop at a road-side empanada stand to sample the food before asking our opinion on whether they should go on the river menu), and ensuring that every aspect of the trip contributes to a memorable experience. His deep knowledge of the region allows him to customize and adapt the experience to adjust for unforeseen events in a seamless fashion while delivering the highest quality experience. And it doesn’t hurt that he is good company in a boat and his cinematic talents provide his clients with quality images of these special times. I had the pleasure of fishing with Andres for 4 days in Patagonia (Coyhaique, Chile). We laughed, he taught me many things about the region, fishing techniques and we fished several different rivers and Lagunas. We caught more fish than one can count (I had one day with easily 75+ fish landed). He also took time to shoot some amazing videos of our time together. Andres is a very professional fishing guide, he is helping all the time and knows all the corners of the river, his fishing tips are very useful.
The first time I met him it was in Chile where he knew plenty of nice rivers and lakes along south of Chile, in the Chilean Patagonia.

I fished with Andres in Patagonia for a few days last spring, before the pandemic took hold. The fishing and scenery were spectacular, but that is only half the story. The more important half is what Andres and his crew did to make it a once-in-a-lifetime adventure-like his top flight equipment, his superb understanding of the rivers and lakes, his uncanny ability to arrange and preside over evening dinners in the the best local restaurants, his quick and friendly wit, his photography and his obviously well-studied ability to pair just the right local wine with his fabulous shore lunches. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending him to anyone who wants to catch big trout and have the time of their life doing so.

We have been fishing and exploring in the Elk River area for the past decade+ and met Andres in our 3rd or 4th season there. We have not used another guide since meeting him and have since became good friends! We have fished with Andres on all sections of the Elk and also in Patagonia. Our measure of a good fishing guide is not based on the fishing itself but rather how hard a guide is willing to work to get you onto fish but still has a good balance of passion and patience for clients who don't fish 300 days a year!

Also, as I see in other reviews, Andres has become quite well known for the quality of his river-side lunches.which is just another example of the effort and passion that Andres brings to guiding. I can't imagine having a "bad day" with Andres.we've had challenging fishing conditions but never a bad day. Whether in the Elk River Valley or Patagonia, we would highly recommend Andres and his company!

I have been to Fernie, BC in 2017 and 2019 to fly fish the Elk and other area rivers. Both times we had a group of 4, and we fished with Andres Fly Fishing. Andres and his team provided awesome experiences including excellent guiding and hot shore lunches. We caught a lot of trout on dry flies only. And, Fernie is a very nice small mountain town with excellent lodging and restaurants. I highly recommend Andes Fly Fishing for a truly memorable experience.

My son and I first met Andres when he was our guide during a fishing trip in British Columbia. Having had many guides over the years, I can state that he was the best. He has a excellent temperament, and a high “fishing IQ” that made our day with him very memorable.
During our day with Andres in British Columbia, he told us about his guide service in Chile. Both my son and I were very interested in fishing in Chile. I also talked to several friends, and in March 2018, four of us flew to Chile for six days of fishing with Andres. He met us at the airport in Balmaseda and for the next six days, everything about the trip was perfect— the accommodations, meals, side trips and of course the fishing. He arranged everything and no detail was overlooked.
At the end of the trip all of us agreed that it was the trip of a lifetime. I consider Andres to be a friend and I look forward to my next fishing trip with him.
