I never planned on buying a new home days after a global pandemic was declared but that the situation I found myself in so I turned to the Angela Calla Mortgage Team asking for advice. My husband and I were coming up to the end of our first 5 year term on our mortgage and decided to look in to other options to help us save some money, especially since we just had our first child. We didn't really know much about going with a bank vs a mortgage broker, and I've been with my bank for so long that it just seemed to make sense to go with them at the time. I called the Angela Calla Mortgage Team after my husband heard about them on CKNW and spoke with John. He answered all of my questions and didn't once make me feel like I was wasting his time or inconveniencing him. He even called my husband when I asked him to because he had some questions of his own. Most of our correspondence was done over email, which was great because it's not always easy to get out with a little baby (especially when it comes to time sensitive appointments!). During this portion I mostly dealt with Julie, who was also super patient and extremely friendly. Once the paperwork was complete and we were approved, Julie set up an appointment for us to come in. When we arrived, we were impressed with how nice and clean the office was and were greeted by Julie's welcoming presence. John came in to meet us to go over everything and again was able to answer any and all of our questions without making us feel like we were wasting their time or "annoying" them. It's unfortunate that so many places can make you feel this way. It's so important to feel comfortable and taken care of when it comes to something so significant in your life. We brought our daughter in and they even dimmed the lights for her! I had to change her diaper on their bench and a small part of me was worried about that being rude, but they just laughed and said, "so many diapers have been changed on that bench, good thing we got it! ", or something alone those lines. Angela came out to hold our daughter and we got to meet most of the mortgage "family" and couldn't have felt more comfortable. Oh and they also gave us a bunch of swag, including Angela's book! After we left, Dave followed up with us over email for the rest of the paperwork and it was all complete with just the one in person appointment. Dave was also able to answer several questions for us before sending the final paperwork as well. And finally, Angela invited us for a quick over the phone interview for her mortgage show!
