Anytime Fitness

My absolute favourite club to train at. Facility is so well taken care of and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. In addition to the many good things about this club, there are plenty of machines to help you achieve your fitness goals no matter what they are.

All in all, I would highly recommend!

Kayla is an awesome manager. The gym is always in great shape and bathrooms are well maintained. Highly recommended to anyone nearby.

Totally disappointed with the terms and conditions they have, I had an exam next month so I wanted to freeze my account for a month and they needed a One month prior notice for that. The gym instructor Kayala is very rude and mean.
Still stuck with the membership because She said that we’ll have to pay more $ to get out of it what a scam!

With Anytime Fitness you always give up space and variety/quantity of equipment for convenience and portability. That said, this is one of the better ones I've been to. Nicely renovated facilities with a much-better-than average four squat/multi purpose racks. Helpful staff and generally considerate patrons who are there to work out and not just make TikToks of their butts. Minor quibbles: it's always crowded at peak times (not blaming the gym for that) and change rooms could maybe be cleaned a bit more. Other than that, good gym.

Pretty average set up but excellent quality equipment.

My one complaint is the lights are way to bright. Doesn't matter much around most parts of gym but under the bench press and studio where u are looking up a lot the light actually blinding and sticks around after standing and walking around. Very annoying. Maybe take out a couple under the bench racks or replace with dimmer lights.

Edit in response to Owner's Response: Chalk does not damage commercial gym equipment, that is an express lie.

Cleanliness is the main concern of the negative reviews here, if I was in management I would examine my business if the same complaint kept arising.

Original Review: Kayla, the manager, sent me a text message letting me know I would no longer be able to bring chalk to the gym. This message came after I had been bringing chalk to the gym for several months with no issues, and no staff talking with me (I work out during staffed hours). She simply said it was against their policy and that "they were not that type of gym. "

Then what type of gym are you?

Further, she cited chalk as being "too messy. " I am confused, as chalk in a gym is a standard sight, and I expect daily cleaning in a fitness facility due to the nature of the business.

I am sad to rate it poorly, love the trainers and fellow members. Close to my house and the FOB system is killer. A shame I must leave due to chalk.

I love working out here! The only compliant I have is the bathrooms are not as clean as they used to be. I understand that the gym is not staffed on weekends but not able to understand why this is the case on the weekends. I could share pictures but do not want to gross anyone out. The only reason I am mentioning this now is because I have noticed this time and time again. I want to complain to the staff or owner directly but am afraid if I get treated different if I complain. I think if thing do not approve I will complain to the city because this is a hygiene issue.

The most unpleasant experience ever had.should have listen to our friends who DON"T RECOMMAND them. My boyfriend and I couldn't go the the gym due to vaccine card, he called them to cancel the contract for both of us and was told to send email to them who told him later that we need to pay $300 to cancel because the contract hasn't end yet, and I need to email them myself. I emailed them twice already and hear absolutely nothing from them. We would love to keep going there but the reality is we're not allowed to so this is ridiculous that we cannot cancel the membership! Won't recommend them at all!

Nothing positive to say. They do know how to make money. After a 6 month contract (my personal test) they keep removing money from you.
Reason I did not renew the contract (and you do need to give me back the extra month payed) : there is no one looking at your posture while using the machines, there is nothing unless you pay extra, personal trainer is insistent on collecting money!
Literally, you pay to use the machines, do not expect anything else! It makes more sense to buy those and keep at home (less expensive in 4-5years).
Their market are adddicteds to fitness who are using those machines for years, and can't keep them in their homes. If you are new, don't waste you money and time!

EDIT: Reply to owners response: Mistakes happen. Your actions and response seriously lacks customer service skills. Why are you in a service industry if you have no concept of what good customer service looks like? All you have to do is either a) call your members, or b) provide some lenience instead of going straight to suspension. You called my partner and were apologetic on the phone, its too bad your online persona is so hostile - perhaps there is a serious management problem if you don't put customer service first!

Next y’know HE gets an email (1 of a million so obv doesn’t open it - straight to filter) telling him to call the gym within 24 hours! Of course he has a life so doesn’t notice until combing through emails sees one sent less than 24 hours later SUSPENDING his membership. So unprofessional! We’re not even locked into a contract - we could’ve cancelled. I wish the Esquimalt Good Life was still open. Too bad this is one of few options - maybe time to try Steve Nash?

Not worth the price, surcharges are through the roof and the quality is no better than a gym you could attend for half the price. Also requires a “deposit fee” when you sign up that you never get back?

Service is bad. Not clean and too busy. I dont recommend, unless you have to work out in the middle of the night

The management has gone downhill since Shannen left. I have been a member for 4 years and I loved coming to the gym because I was always welcomed at the door with a friendly smile. I noticed the cleanliness of the gym has decreased in the last few weeks. Wipe stations are empty, equipment is left all over the floor, and the paper towel are empty. I’ve also noticed the culture has deteriorated not having Shannen and Lisa interacting with members. Most of the regulars have left the gym now and went to Fit4Less. It’s sad to see as I used to love coming to the gym.

Very very clean place. Organized. Covid protocols followed. Nice and happy staff around. Small but enough for a workout. Nice facility!

Very clean and friendly staff! The reservation system is a little frustrating right now, as you have to book 2 days in advance but they’re doing the best they can to accommodate everyone and I appreciated them being open:)

I exercise most mornings before work and train once a week with one of the personal trainers. I can't say enough positive things about my training experience there - its been incredible! The gym itself is fairly basic, but it has just about anything that you'd need for a good workout and its not too busy.

The place is meticulously clean and the staff are friendly and awesome.
Many unprofessional and inconsiderate members tho. Some dudes just think they own a table or piece of equipment and never leave it so others can also use it. I find it frustrating really sometimes.

The staff here (at Borden Mckenzie) is so awesome and hard working. They make sure everything is properly sanitized, neat and clean.
Thanks to all of you for your services.
You all deserve a tons.

Anytime fitness on McKenzie is one of the best gyms I’ve worked out at! The staff is so friendly and encouraging, the atmosphere is great, and they are always doing their best to improve the space whether that be through the layout, equipment, maintenance, safety protocols etc.

Signed up about a month and a half ago and been a regular since. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Equipment is new and good quality. The staff do an exceptional job of keeping the place spotless. Very happy with the personal training they offer and lots of options for group classes as well. The fees are very reasonable compared to other gyms in Victoria and I'm definitely getting my money's worth. Highly recommended!

Fantastic facility, variety of machines and equipment for a wide range of needs. Kept very clean during current state of affairs, and maximum numbers in certain areas enforced.

I’ve been a member for almost 3 months and it’s been a great experience! I workout in the am and the morning staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment and facilities are very clean as well as good quality!

Have showers available very clean and tidy in this HARD times! Signed up a month ago and have been regular - and with Victoria's weather it's hard to be regular, as y'all know. Never felt nicer in my body. Very friendly staff. I go here before I go to bed in the night - not so busy and chill. Would highly recommend. Had my family and friend signed up too.:)

While this Anytime location is smaller than most gyms I've been to, it was often not very busy and it had all the equipment I wanted. The staff are extremely friendly and the gym is very well maintained with new equipment. Also, the place was always spotless - the staff do a great job of keeping it clean!

This location quickly became my home gym after one week of going. Lotsa cardio machines to choose from and enough squat racks and free weights for everyone usually. Best part is super friendly and welcoming staff who I have grown to love them all! They also do a deep clean and wipe down the facility and equipment frequently to make the gym clean and safe.

Joined this gym in the beginning of June. Absolutely love going to Anytime Mckenzie Location. The staff are super friendly, Shannen does a great job at keeping a clean, positive atmosphere and is super helpful at giving tips when im stuck with what to do! Great gym to workout at. Would highly recommend to anyone. Glad I made the choice to start going here.

It is so convenient knowing when I am in Victoria I can still go for a workout. The staff are continually cleaning and the members are very conscientious about wiping down the equipment before & after use.

Great facility and has all the equipment a person needs. Designated section for more functional training as well as a studio area. 2 power racks and a deadlifting platform! All of the power racks and cable machines also have pull-up bars. Lots of equipment and lots of space.

Was a member for a few months here as they were one of the first gyms to reopen. The staff were welcoming, quick to answer questions, and the facility was exceptionally clean and organized for physical distancing.

Anytime Fitness McKenzie is one of the friendliest gyms I've been to, it's affordable and the classes are fantastic. The gym is always very clean, even when the gym is extremely busy. The staff are amazing, incredibly friendly and welcoming. Special shoutout to Shannen, Shae and Makena for helping me achieve my goals in the past year

Would highly recommend Anytime Mackenzie. I was new to the gym when I started going and found that the gym staff were extremely open and supportive. I've learned a ton, especially from Shannen, who is so kind and helpful!

Kinda cramped, better since adding a third power lift station. Could use one more as they're always in use.

Absolutely recommend Anytime Mckenzie! The gym staff are very motivated and are always willing to help. Shannen and Shae have always gone out of their way to help me out. The gym is sanitized regularly by the staff throughout the day. They are handling this pandemic pretty well.

This gym has everything you can ask for and want. They gym is always well maintained and the staff members are always there whenever you need help or any info! I’ve been a member here for some time and I have been to many other gyms but this one has got to be my favourite one of all! Especially it having multiple locations not only on the island but all over the world!

Great place with nice ambience and updated machines, help you reduce the the risk of lifting heavy weights in a smart and healthy way. Great staff, great control on social distancing and sanitation levels in this pandemic situation.

Signed up with this gym when they reopened on May 25th from the pandemic closure. Really impressed with the way they've handled new Covid-19 protocols. Great all around gym.

Great gym! Clean, friendly staff, pristine equipment. Sometimes they play country tho so bring your own music.

Nothing but great things to say about Anytime and the staff there. I go to the Mckenzie Borden location and find it functions very efficiently for its size. Super clean and safe. Shannen is excellent at what she does.
I have recommended friends and they have also joined.

This gym is in a great location and close to my house. Easily accessible by bike and there is always car parking. The gym is always clean and all the equipment you need are there.

I would recommend going to this gym.

I love that Anytime has so many locations. There was an issue at my home gym today so I merely popped over to the next location without skipping a beat. All the locations have a good supply of equipment, they're very clean and the staff have always been helpful. The best part for me is the 24/7 access that fits with my schedule.

I signed up for a free trial hoping to start at a new gym after SN Fitness chain closed due to Covid (we are post covid now when everything is re-opened). The doors are locked during the day, after I knocked I was greeted by a staff member who told me that they we're not honoring free trails. After I asked if I could work in just the day (0930 on a weekday is nnot a busy time) to try it out since I was already there, she replied with a hard no.
Anytime Fitness had a golden opportunity to poach ex SteNas clients that will actually continue memberships yet they are doing the opposite rejecting them.
I would not go back to try even after Covid long past just out of pride. Disappointment HIGHLY un-recommend. Their gym's are not known for quality and will lose out to eventual real competition.

Went to this gym for about a year, and I really enjoyed it as it had incredibly clean equipment, change rooms and bathrooms. Whenever I needed advice or training help their staff was always willing to help and incredibly knowledgeable. I wish that this gym offered some kind of heavy bag training area, I spoke with the manager about this and we both understood that it was unreasonable for the size. Other than that awesome gym, great staff, great environment and I’m sad to have to say goodbye.

Love this gym. Equipment is top of the line. Love that they have life fitness brand equipment. Way more up to date then the precor machines I used to use at my old gym. Definitely sticking to McKenzie. I am excited for Keating crossing to open. Way better then most gyms for cleanliness. Always impressed with Melanie. She’s the most friendly and knowledgeable manager ever.

Clean, average list of equipment in good condition but too small, too crowded, too expensive.also, there is no real changing room and only one (two?) shower for all.u r welcome.

The gym was on the smaller side, but it was always clean and the equipment was updated and nice. Unfortunately I found the staff to be very hit or miss when it came to being welcoming and friendly which was alittle dissapointing.

This gym has a good atmosphere and it is clean.but one thing they should consider is switching from wet-wipes (unless biodegradable) to towels for gym equipment cleaning as it is more environmentally friendly.

After being a member at the tillicum location for a few years. I finally had the chance to check out McKenzie. WOW. So clean. Great atmosphere. LOVE the wipes and the bathrooms are superbly clean.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The manager, Melanie, was super accommodating and always replied to any questions I have had promptly. Very impressed. This will definitely be my new home gym. Thanks McKenzie.
