I have spent nearly a month now touring Vancouver Island and there are many fabulous sights and activities, but #1 without question has been the cruise with Archipelago. In fact, their cruise is both #1 and #2 in my book as I went on the tour twice. Both times the scenery and wildlife were incredible; both times Alan & Toddy did a top-notch job as guides and hosts; both times the cruise provided a connection to the natural surroundings and to fellow travelers that you just don’t get on the other tours. If you make it to the area, Archipelago should be #1 on your list (and #2).

Magical day! Bears, bald eagles, whales, sea lions, otters, seals and many marine birds. Al and Toddy have been doing this for many years and it shows.every detail is perfect! Meal on board made whole experience even more special. Thank you Al and Toddy for an experience we will never forget!

Absolutely excellent tour. Al and Toddy were exemplary co-captains, the scenery was stunning, the ship was well appointed and the locally prepared lunch was beautifully done. The wildlife viewing experience was second to none. A first class experience, through and through, Toddy and Al are the real thing, local community boosters, seasoned mariners, engaged naturalists and safety conscious professionals.

We had a really great tour with Toddy & Alan. The ship is perfect for leisurely exploring and enjoying the landscape of the Broken Islands. The two of them guided us perfectly through the fog into the sunshine, so that not only were we able to enjoy lunch in perfect surroundings, nature also gifted us with a whale sighting. A young humpback whale didn't want to stop jumping out of the water:) we can really recommend the tour!

Toddy and Alan Landry provide a truly first class wildlife cruising experience. Best “tour” I have ever been on. Their 53 foot Canoe Cove motor yacht is spacious and comfortable. The optional gourmet lunch is not to be missed. The cruise was informative and enjoyable. Their knowledge of the wildlife and the history of Barkley Sound and the Broken Group is very impressive. Worth every dollar of the fare.

Toddy and Al escorted us on an awe inspiring tour of the broken islands. We left from Ucluelet BC and the day was beautiful and sunny.

The highlights of the tour, for me, were both being in the utter wilderness as well as being able to witness wildlife in their own homes. I was their guest.

We were lucky enough to see a variety of animals including; a black bear, bald eagles, deer, sea lions, orcas, sea otters and a variety of sea birds. We were fortunate enough to see orcas in the process of hunting a sea lion. This left everyone wondering about the fate of the sea lion.
Our hosts were both very knowledgeable as well as respectful of all the nature surrounding us.

Taken together this tour was in one word astonishing! I highly recommend it to anyone who travels to Ucluelet BC.

We had an incredible tour with Al and Toddy on the Archipelago Wildlife Cruise. Our guides expertly navigated us through the exquisitely beautiful Broken Islands to see bears, sea otters, California and Stellar sea lions, seals, eagles, ospreys, sea stars, and much more. Thrilling to see sea otters here! We were also incredibly fortunate to see a pod of transient orcas. The Raincoast Maiden is a beautiful, comfortable boat, and the gourmet lunch was nicely prepared. Absolutely recommended!

We had a wonderful time visiting the Pacific coast of British Columbia this summer. My favorite experience- was a cruise with Toddy and Al on their beloved yacht home, through Archipelago Wildlife Cruises out of Ucluelet. Everything about this 5-hour trip was ideal.

While we saw eagles, sea lions, bears, seals, sea otters and more, the journey itself, through gorgeous Barkley Sound, took my breath away. Toddy and Al know these waters well; the culture, history, and where animals tuck themselves away. They provided thoughtful and fun commentary. The trip is gorgeous, the food (that you can purchase aboard the yacht) was delicious and the group we ended up touring with came from all over the world, and was delightful. Toddy and Al have attended to details in a such a thoughtful manner; from items that help prevent motion sickness to their flexible approach to different people’s needs (children’s, for instance). I am sad to leave the Pacific coast of BC and wish I was heading out today on another trip with Archipelago Cruises. We give it our highest rating.

Did the tour yesterday and it was a beautiful experience. We were with our little baby (8 months) and this type of tour is definitely better suited for our family situation than the whale watching tours in faster / smaller boats. We saw a whale but there were so many other animals (eagles, otters, sealions, seals) and the broken islands themselves to see.

We also had to cancel our first booking less than 48h in advance (but more than 24h in advance) because our baby was sick. We were very happy with the communication regarding this cancellation and the rebooking later, no complaints there.

A wonderful experience with Toddy and Alan who are exceptional hosts. We saw bald eagles, sea lions, seals, sea otters and a humpback whale. Every time something was spotted, Toddy and Alan worked hard to make sure we had a great view. The whole boat is lovely and a brilliant experience for the whole day. We had the food, which was a nice part of the day, although I would say the salmon dish lacked flavour. It was our honeymoon, and Toddy and Alan made a real fuss, making it feel even more special.

What a wonderful and beautiful experience this was. My wife and I booked the trip as part of our honeymoon and it will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.

From the second that you meet Toddy and Al you know it's going to be something special. Not only are they so vastly experienced at what they do, but they ooze passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for the local area and wildlife. The boat itself is beautiful; impeccably clean and comfortable and you feel so welcome from the second you step aboard.

The tour itself is incredibly relaxed and made even more so by Al's witty jokes and banter. The cruise takes you to some utterly breath-taking scenery and no time is spared in ensuring that you get some great snaps of the local wildlife. Everything is taken care of from cushions to sit on, motion sickness remedies, tea, coffee and more! The food is sourced locally in and around Ucluelet and there's just something so incredibly special about being wined and dined on the bow of a boat.

What a privilege it was to have this experience and for it, we are eternally grateful. Toddy and Al are beautiful people, life's greats - so please don't hesitate to book and share in this experience.

A very enjoyable day on the ocean. Whales, seals, sea lions, otters, eagles, bears and Al's jokes. What more can you ask for?

Even though we weren’t lucky enough to come across any bears, I still had an amazing time with Al and Toddy and saw some other great wildlife. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

The perfect wildlife day cruise, run by a lovely couple! Toddy and Alan have a great boat which is super comfy and has everything you need. They took us to loads of great spots and there was plenty of wildlife to see, including Orcas! They really know their stuff and make you feel so at home. The gourmet meal was an absolute treat and highly recommended.
