Au Comptoir

Yes, I went to a French restaurant and ordered a burger.but they put foie gras on top so I'm not sorry LOL. Delicious! The service was great and in the authentic French style, because the staff is actually French. They even had French gin (Citadelle) for my martini! Great experience, highly recommended.

Nothing special very expensive and cant cook properly. Dont come here with higher expectations. Its just an average restaurant with no skills.

Real French Waiter from France, good, ambience good. Nothing special with the steak ordered. In fact, the medium rare was chewy, chewy, chewy. For $40 plus per plate that had a green salad and a few potatoes is certainly no value there. Disappointed. I'm from Montreal Quebec, born and raised. I have experienced 5-star fine dining. Unfortunately, this place wasn't it in terms of the food.

I was mad in love with my white onion soup. Everything was good too but my soup stood out the most.

One of the worst service experience encountered in town - the staff was rude and said something inappropriate when he gets busy, as if he doesn’t want to serve table at all. It was a terrible and unpleasant dining experience. And we would not go back there.

Good for a nice, if slightly pricey evening meal. Steak and fries were flavourful and the wine tasty.

Gets quite noisy when busy plus road noise might be off putting if you want a more peaceful meal.

Upon the recommendation of a friend, came here to celebrate a double birthday. We arrived early enough (6: 10pm) to be seated immediately (within 40 minutes it was packed). From start to finish, the experience was perfect and felt like I was in France. But let me get right to the good part: The meal was amazing. Everyone at my table was infatuated with what they ordered. I had the salmon with bok choy and housemade pasta (delicious!), and the lemon tart (wow!). But my sister ordered the dessert of the day, an orange creme with apricot sorbet - it brought tears to my eyes it was so perfect. I can’t wait to go back.

Went there twice, one for dinner, where I found it very enjoyable with great food, albeit on the expensive side. More recently I wanted to try their brunch, which I found less interesting, it was tasty but portions were very small. Will be back but only for special occasion and dinner.

There is no other place in Vancouver to feel being in Paris than Au Comptoir. Chairs and table outside are arranged like the cafes in Paris. Glasses, chairs, plates, and vibe are carefully chosen. Even staff talk to eachother only in French.

We really enjoyed our food Au Comptoir. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food is excellent. We'll definitely come back.

My mom and I went here since we were already in the area and this place caught here eye. She said she wants to try this place. We enjoyed the burgers, croque madame, omelette, and coffee. They were all amazing and great tasting. We were so thankful for the fulfilling dishes we had here and the quick service. It is worth going back again here and trying other dishes in their menu.

I felt like I was back in Paris, in a little bistro off the Boul Mich. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, the service excellent, and the food extremely good.

Like being on vacation in France.
There is rarely a restaurant with the quality of products and service available like this in Vancouver. Like being on vacation. Really. Come here. It's wonderful. Duck wings, fois gras, oysters, red wine, unusual mimosas, espresso, cognac selection, fantastic quality of service.you're wasting your time going anywhere else unless you can budget the trip to Paris.

Very very busy, hard to hear across the table to have a conversation. Tables very close to each other, not my preference during covid times. Not the food for a vegetarian, but my non vegetarian friend loved it

Ordered off the brunch menu. Got the house burger which was quite delicious and filling.

Also got the steak. We had asked for it medium rare but it came a bit over cooked than we had asked for. The sauce was a delicious blue cheese sauce.

It can get very noisy but overall, the food was pretty good and the service was attentive and quick.

It was my first time here and I was not disappointed at all. The food is excellent and the atmosphere, too! I will go back for sure. For a french restaurant, it would be nice to have at least one staff that speak french for french speaking tourists.

The food is mediocre. The service is slow, scattered and uninformed. The tables are set so close together you are basically going to have to endure eating your meal with the waiters two inches from you as they serve the tables to your right and left.

I'm very thankful to have this beautiful French restaurant in my neighborhood. Finally tried it for the 1st time. You have to get there early as its 1st come 1st served and due to it's exceptional service and food it's busy but well worth the wait. I went for dinner but plan on returning very soon for their breakfast. You couldn't go wrong with anything on the well thought out menu. But you must try the cheese board served table side. Enjoy!

Expensive and superb. In terms of classic bistros in the city you'd be hard pressed to find better. This is probably the wrong kind of place for a big group or if you only want to split an appetizer and aren't a regular.

I called ahead to see if my partner and I could go for dinner. The hostess said that would be no problem for the time discussed so we began making our way there. Once we arrived they said it would be at least a 45min wait and there was no room at the bar - I was fairly frustrated that I was given conflicting information only 15 minutes earlier on the phone, strike 1.

Another evening we decided we would go for desert and drinks. We did not have a reservation and showed up on a Thursday night about 1 1/2 hours before they closed. The hostess insisted on asking us what the nature of our visit was and was reluctant to seat us when I said we weren't planning on eating a full course dinner. We eventually were seated after "confirming" it was okay despite the fact there were at least 5 open tables of 2 in the restaurant. The waiter was very good, however, the desert and cocktails were honestly just okay. Strike 2 - wont' be seeing you guys again anytime soon.

As someone who has visited France several times, this is the closest imitation to a truly authentic french experience I have seen in Vancouver. The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly and my favorite part was that the dessert was both exceptional and deliberate. It did not feel like an afterthought on the menu. I recommend checking this place out!

Even though the atmosphere and setting is more casual than some other fancy restaurants, their food is definitely on par. We ordered the appetizer of the day which was scallops and the rabbit terrine. Those two were decent but not as amazing as the main courses. The duck and veal we ordered were both very tender. The duck's crispy skin contrasted the tenderness of the meat very well and the whole plate was lovely. Although, one of the slices was a bit more chewy than the other two and wasn't as enjoyable. The veal was superb. We really enjoyed the paired of the tender meat with the puree and the cream and pepper sauce they served. The balance of flavours was great and the overall was fantastic. Portions are good for the price we pay for. Service is friendly and welcoming.

Walked in for dinner on Sunday at around 5pm. We got seated right away as the restaurant was empty. By around 5: 30 most of the restaurant was full (as half the tables are used for social distancing between each other). By 6 the wait time was around an hour. Looks like there were COVID protocols in place as all the staff and kitchen staff were wearing masks and there was distance between the tables. We were given complimentary bread right after we ordered. We ordered 3 dishes to share. The foie gras terrine with rabbit was a really good balance of savouriness and sour/sweetness. The caramelized fruit cut the decadence if the foie gras and went really with the brioche bread. My main complaint was that there wasn't enough brioche for the amount of foie gras. The tuna tartare paired really well with the addition of the fresh grapes on top and bits of sweet corn. The lamb crusted with herbs was well accompanied with the creamy funnel puree. The lamb was super tender and had a bit of lamb gamey-ness which I really liked. We finished off the night with the Paris Brest. I've had this once before from Au Comptoir and really enjoyed it. This time the choux pastry was crispier and went well with the praline cream. Surprisingly the caramel on the bottom did not make this dish too sweet. The service was really friendly and fast. They explained everything on the menu well and brought everything really fast. Our water was also never empty. Would definitely recommend having dessert here as well as almost anything on the menu

Great food, nice atmosphere, amazing service! The salad with anchovies on it is very interesting!

Mussels are HUGE. I've never seen mussels that big. The fries are crispy and delicuous and the Risotto was so good that I learned how to cook risotto just so that I could experience that again.

Desserts are good. Reccomend the waffle. It was a little over-toasted but a well thought out selection of flavours.

Will definitely be back!

Best French cuisine in town. Me and hubby first time came here and both had a great dining experience. The waiter is very interesting and food is beyond description especially soup of the day and duck leg. We felt satisfied and definitely will come again.
