I love going to this gallery. They always have a great exhibits and a beautiful permanent collection. The building itself is a work of art. I love walking the long glass hallway when it’s snowing. It’s like being inside a snow globe.
I may not have visited the museum but wanted to attend the yoga class (Amanda, the instructor, was excellent). Love that you can pay for the yoga class which also gets you admission to the museum. Then I enjoyed the museum too! It's expertly done.
I loved visiting the Audain Art Museum - I think the only thing I wish they had was more of an educational piece or a self-guided audio tour for the First Nations masks gallery. I would have loved to learn more about them.
The architecture of this place is amazing! The price isn’t too high and would depend based on your age group. The staff were great and since we had our luggage with us they let us leave our stuff in a room. They also have guided tours that you can join in that’s included in your ticket.
Manabu Ikeda’s exhibit, which I had the pleasure of seeing as part of the Whistler wine and art walk, was mind blowing. The Audain is already so beautiful and they did an amazing job with this exhibit
Stunning place and excellent art collection. Was great to see a mix of first nations art and then also the local BC artists work. Definitely learned a lot about BC art scene and spent some quality time there.
Building Itself is amazing and I would highly recommend this place.
A small but very interesting art museum showcasing BC's artists. Stunning building featuring striking woodwork leading the eye along the length and height of the building. Only opens Thursday to Sunday, but definitely worth a visit and you can buy a combined pass for the Indigenous Cultural Centre which provides a discount price for each.
Yes the architecture is great and the museum shows local and First Nation art, but the collection is rather small and somewhat “boring”. In my view, it should have something aimed at being interactive and the awesome architecture could house a coffee house…
We attended a Wedding that was held outdoors. The architecture is unique and very beautiful. We enjoyed the visit although it turned too cool (17C) by dinner time.
This is an amazing museum and well worth the price of admission! The Northwest art is wonderful and the current exhibition featuring Dempsey Bob is mind-blowing!
Ever since I heard about this place I wanted to visit. But there was COVID, and also the restriction of needing winter tires between October and March. In a civilised country there would be all day everyday electric trains between Vancouver and Whistler, but this is Canada. So we booked a hotel for two nights. One might be enough. We were about 90 minutes in the museum. The permanent collection is very impressive - lots of Emily Carr and Group of 7. But the indigenous art is what really grabbed me. I even bought the book of the Dempsey Bob exhibit. The architecture is also arresting. You should go.
Great collection of West coast indigenous art and a retrospective of works by carver Dempsey Bob. Also extensive works by Emily Carr and assorted other West Coast artists. The building too is a work of art.
This is one of the most amazing buildings in Whistler almost worth a visit just to see it. Entry to the Gallery is $20 which seems expensive to me given the fairly restricted content but I must admit that could be my preference.
It was intersting to see the historical artwork showing a picture of Canadian Native life.
Personally I didn't appreciate the more modern photographic art where there are better museums in my opinion.
If you want local to Whistler Artists then go to the various Gallery's in the main street and enjoy browsing.
A must see in Whistler! Wonderful; knowledgeable hosts, a beautiful highly unique building, masterpieces of art. Exquisitely arranged and selected. Looking forward to many more visits ️️
Stunning building gives you such a sense of beauty even before you see the artworks. Huge spaces. Beautiful & thought- provoking art. Also the staff are SO lovely!
The museum has great architecture, and the permanent exhibition features interesting local art, however, paying full price ($21) when the special exhibition isn’t even open seems like a ripoff - they should offer a discount during these times.
It was nice to see the art collection and pieces on display, however the 'security' person that followed us through the exhibit eyeballing our family the whole time left a bad taste in my mouth.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first Nations artwork. The only thing that might have made it perfect would be a drum soundscape in the background or some sort of first Nations music.
A beautiful building hosting an incredible collection of art representing Northwest Coast artists both contemporary and (recent) historical. The large stairs near the entrance is also a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy a small picnic. I highly recommend making a point of visiting whenever you are in Whistler!
Very well laid out and some fantastic Emily Carr paintings. Has other artists and quality native art. Did not expect such quality is small town whistler. Loved it!
Holy! You need to come to this museum twice! Once in the day and once at night. Totally different experiences. The building itself is a stand out work of art. The collections are unique, certainly not what you would get at a more run of the mill 'city' collection.
I was lucky enough to be graced with Justine's presence. She was clearly knowledgeable but more importantly clearly into the works herself. It was refreshing to be given a tour with such passion.
A true gem of an art museum with pre-eminent BC and First Nation artists! This high quality museum is at the level expected in a major city. Worth visiting for sure!
Best place in Whistler only after skiing Whistler/Blackcomb. Love this place. Vancouver would love to have such an amazing building full of Emily Carr and other very talented artists. Fantastic First Nations artifacts.
Worth the entrance fee! Well curated museum. Beautiful selection of contemporary art with a mixture of Indigenous heritage and environmental consciousness.
I loved seeing the group of seven exhibit, along with many works by Emily Carr. There were also many new works by various artists that we cleverly curated and storyful.
Beautiful building! Excellent collection - especially Emily Carr. Slightly expensive to get in however to experience such a beautiful art gallery in a small town & the price was worth it. Lovely gift shop as well.
I stayed in whistler for the winter season and went to the museum 3 times! (I was 18 and could get in for free! Adults: $18) It’s a beautiful building and they have great, big and clean washrooms.
Always enjoyed my visits and would recommend it to everyone! It’s a lovely mix between more modern art and also older pieces. For me it felt like there rotate after each room.
After your visit check out the souvenir shop, they have some beautiful pieces which aren’t overpriced!
Local artists with World Class stature; combined with knowledgeable and friendly staff that share their love and insights of the pieces that they give a home to. Warmth and welcoming.
The building is what I went to see - next level design and construction! The wood used is amazing beautiful tight grain and literally tens of thousands of board feet each piece a custom cut, and in the whole building I could only find one knot. The building itself is the most epic piece of art there. . The stuff in the galleries is pretty nifty too.
Stunning building with an extensive selection of art work. Great value for money. We saw more pieces of art here than at the Vancouver Art Museum and the quality of the collections surpassed theirs too! Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Wow! This gallery is swag. It's got everything. BC's top art, modern architecture and a lovely gift shop. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The floor to ceiling windows feature the beauty of nature, revealing new stunning views every hour. It's located in the heart of Whistler, making it a must see destination.
A large collection of artwork by Emily Carr and Ted Huges and others. Amazing collection of native masks. The building is gorgeous. We loved the floor-to-ceiling huge windows that looked right out into the forest.
All 'Indigenous' style art, which I am totally tired of, and have no appreciation for any more. It was fine 30 yrs ago, something new and different, but I would like to think that BC art has more to it than just this.
$18 per adult. Only visited the lobby to see the architecture (which was gorgeous!). Personally, I felt like it could have been cheaper. Two adults for $20 and we would have went in.
A pars peut-être les quelques masques des premières nations qui sont intéressant à regarder, le reste n'en vaut pas la peine. Vois avez fais le tour en 15 minutes à peine, et pour un prix exorbitant. Passez votre chemin.
Worth walking around just for the architecture alone. The art exhibit features first-nation carvings, sculpture, and modern interpretations as well. You could spend as little as 45 minutes or several hours easily.
The building is very unique and eye-catching, so is its interior design and layout. While the collections are limited, two main focuses: Indian's sculptures and North American contemporary paintings. It definitely may give you a pleasant and worthwhile visit if you slow down your footsteps!
Worth the trip just to see the building, a very impressive space. The main gallery has some fabulous work by Emily Carr and First Nations masks. However it was E. J. Hughes’ work that truly blew us away.
Absolutely gorgeous building and Gallery spaces, with an outstanding collection of Regional artwork and artifacts. What a fantastic way to spend and hour or two, immersing yourself in a really inspiring and well curated collection of Art. Do not miss this Gallery when in Whistler.
Take the tour to hear to hear the history of the White's, 2 painters who travelled through the Rockies. Indigenous, contemporary and local painters of the West coast also featured.
Worth the trip to Whistler just for this. I went with a group on a guided tour. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Amazing collection of BC originals in a permanent collection including First Nations art and Emily Carr. The building’s architecture is art as well. So glad I went!
