Satpreet and abdo were very kind and good workers and top tier customer service if i had to pick between the two i couldnt decide they both great

Provided excellent service with a friendly disposition and good food and great coffee. Recommend this location for breakfast through the week.

This place is really great good food, fast service and clean. On top of this the staff are so great! Satpreet always has a smile on her face when serving me and Jadelynn and the morning staff are all excellent. The Manager is always so kind.

Worst breakfast ever. Toast was cold, butter did not melt on it, sausages were so cold it was like they had just come out of the fridge, bacon was tasteless, hard and cold. Will not return here again.

My husband and I almost never eat fast food- we’re snobs. But tonight we were desperate and picked up takeout from Esquimalt A&W. I had a teen burger and onion rings and hubby had a Beyond beef burger with yam fries. Delicious! About $25- totally worth it. Recommend!

Waited 25 minutes for a burger, no subs, chicken strips and fries. Don’t go to this location unless you have lots of free time. Other customers complaining about cold food waiting for ever. Worst experience ever

Customer service needs to be improved.
I ordered Beyond Meat Burger and sweet potato fries. When I picked up my order I asked if he added the chipotle sauce and he told me that it needs money. I told him it's part of meal, he said no I have to pay for it. The other staff join the discussion and they were explaining to me that I'll only get Chipotle sauce if I ordered sweet potato fries which I said I did. The older staff said take my order back to replace it but I told her that there's no need to replace I just need the Chipotle. She told the other staff to give me the Chipotle and brushes of their mistake without correcting the cashier's statement that Chipotle sauce comes free when you order sweet potato fries.

Incident date: May 8,2022 at around 1pm

Ordered 2 beyond’s fries well done and onion rings at 9: 30am in morning. Only got 7 rings in total and cold fries. A&W standard is to have 8-10 good size rings in basket or bag. And asked for seasoning on fries didn’t receive it both times and had to go back to get it again. And cashier wasn’t happy and there was no apology issued from her!

One staff take orders drive thru and service then another staff come out to assist but had to rush back, they are hiring but still ten minutes for ordering fast food when not busy?

The worst! Spent my whole lunch break trying to deal with this.they gave me a beef and bacon burger when I ordered beyond meat! I’m a vegetarian! Thank god I didn’t bite into that.took them 35 minutes to get the actual beyond me to me. So slow. Will not be returning. Ridiculous!

My Mom and love to occasionally visit an A&W, for a couple of teen burger meals, she gets onion rings, and I get fries, so we can share, and we always have big frosty mugs of their famous root beer!

Terrible restaurant. One clerk out front yelling at another about getting orders wrong, very slow service? Forgot part of my order. Once the order was finally placed it was fast and the food was fine

Stopped by here in between errands as I was hungry and haven't been here since 2012 when I went to an a&w in valemount and was so grossed out I opted out. Well, it was okay - and I just may come back t of this specific one in esquimault again!: D

This A&W location has repeatedly let us down. I was so excited to move to this neighbourhood and have an A&W close by, but have been so disappointed by the service. I know this is a fast food restaurant, and I'm not expecting a 5 star restaurant treatment. But the staff have been rude, and there have been a few instances where the staff have clearly shut down the restaurant before it's actually closed.

On one occasion, as we were driving through the drive through lane to order - we watched as the lights in the restaurant got turned off even though they were still supposed to be open for another half an hour. Nobody came to the service window even though there were people inside and they just turned the lights off to make it look closed so they didn't have to serve us.

On another occasion - New Year's Eve - their sign was advertising that they were open until 8 pm. Around 730, I went up to the window to ask if they were open still because it was dark inside, but there were people working. A simple "no, we are closing early because it's New Year's Eve" would have been totally fine - but the person who I spoke to replied with a snarky "um no? It's new years eve or something? " Totally unnecessary and rude. Like, I get it, you're just a teenager working at an A&W, but you can still just be nice lol.

There have been a few other times where we have gotten messed up orders or our food was cold. Just overall seems like the staff working there don't care at all. Really unfortunate and we just won't eat at this location anymore, I'd rather drive to a location further away than deal with poor attitude and a lack of desire to do the bare minimum.

I was basically just robbed by A&W. I can't believe a staple fast food joint is able to scam people like this.
I ordered breakfast over the app. I was charged for the order and went to pick it up, at which I was told they never received my order. I was not offered a refund and told they wouldn't make my food anymore because it's after 11am. After frustration, they only offered to make two burgers in exchange, which was not the value of my order. There is no app support or way to speak to someone over the app or over the phone. They have literally NO customer support. You have to submit a request and wait for someone to possibly call you in the next three business days? I was just stolen from with no way to speak to someone helpful. How on earth are they getting away with this? ! I'm outraged.

Very rude lady took our order threw the drive thru. Very short when talking to us. This wasn’t the first time.

Great location staff are kind and helpful even if some of the patrons are not so much. The place is always clean and the food is hot.

Absolutely the worst a&w around.super slow, cold food, never get an order right. Parking every car in the drive through to make it look like their lead times are acceptable. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment and drive to the douglas location or any other fast food joint.

Quite expensive for fast food, but as far as that goes it's ok-ish as long as you're not expecting gourmet. If you have limited choices and eat there you can sometimes find coupons online to save you a few $.

Eaten here a lot and they have only been less than perfect once or twice. Best quality and staff of the A&Ws I have eaten at. Love the place. Even the fries have gotten better but in the end it’s all about the Mama burger, best fast food burger going.

Never coming to this location again. I asked for no onions, extra pickles. I got zero pickles, and was told to come back tomorrow.um, no. WTH does "short staffed" have to do with you fixing my order? Utter garbage.

Cold burgers, no apology, incomplete refund.
I'm pregnant and was desperately craving a strawberry milkshake and onion rings so my husband took me to A&W for dinner. We got to the drive through and ordered and they told me no milkshake but whatever ‍️. Then they charged us 26$ for two burgers, some fries, and onion rings. We paid up, cuz I was desperado. We get home maybe 2 minutes later and the burger patties are stone cold. Like the buns were warmer than the patties. My husband took us back to get a refund or new burgers made. The guy had seen us literally 5 minutes prior and asked for a receipt after we told him how much we paid down to the cent, and my husband handed him the bag to see for himself. Guy reaches in without washing his hands prior or after to our knowledge, argues with us about it, and then gives us the incorrect change back (which he also argued with us about?). Then he also didn't hand the food back, so I was now incredibly hormonally sad about no onion rings. Anyway, we went to McDonald's down the street and got burgers and milkshakes for way less, and it was hot! It's almost like they train their employees! Never thought I'd prefer McDonald's to A&W.

Thoughtful, professional and quick.
I had a lone line in front of me and they were quick about getting the food out to the parking lot for everyone.

They always forget my apple pies, the staff made me feel rushed and there was no one in the restaurant, but the food is always awsume

Forgot to add the bacon when I ordered the All Canadian Breakfast. Didn't inform then after finding out (my fault! Guess the introvert me won that's why it's 4* still) but would have been if I got what I ordered.complete.

Drive thru was a terrible experience we had completed saying our order and I said no Tomatoes after and the lady taking the order got upset and said I have to say that first so its not complicated I've worked at McDonald's for 2 years i know its not a big deal to remove something the customer doesn't like and was rude and didn't give is our total, after we proceed to the window the worker doesn't make any eye contact and doesn't say how much it is and didn't say anything to us didn't clarify our order or drinks just handed them out and walked away

The location has very good food. And it was really hot which often it is not at fast food places.

Supremely disappointed to say I will not be going back to this location again. I have been coming to the Esqumalt location since I was kid. And it was a special place to bring my kids and now young nephew. After the way I was treated by the drive thru staff tonight, it was the final straw.

The service was absolutely revolting. I have had terrible service before here but just moved on so my nephew and I could still have a special place to go.

Tonight's service was gross. Hopefully the management team can invest in some time into customer service training or at least guidance in some manners and common sense.

Consistently the worst A&W location. Sometimes I cave in and go here because work doesn't leave much time for breaks but I always regret it. Food is stale and sad

Fast service! You can order on the app during these rough Covid times or walk right up to their drive thru if you don't own a car, if not very fast drive thru service.

Bought a Canadian bacon sauaage and pancakes with hash brown meal this morning. The toast it came with was so black and disgusting it wasnt even edible. I will NOT be going back and ill let all my friends know aa i took a picture of the disgusting toast. Actually sickens me that they would let this go out the window.

Obviously the dub is awesome but every time i come in here there seems to be some kind of defcon 1 crisis going on? Potentially cursed / haunted, tread carefully

The new cold-brew drinks are nice, staff are friendly, feels more like a local diner than fast food.

This is the most dysfunctional A&W I have ever been to. I've been to this location 7-8 times and the service has always been painfully slow and sloppy.

I don't fully blame the employees though, it seems as if they are extremely understaffed and unhappy.

Now don't get me wrong, I love A&W. But after a long day at when I go through the drive-through and ask for no tomatoes on my burger and two ketchups in the bag and after pointing this out to the server he thrusts 11 ketchup packages at me

Over all: Great quality. Miles ahead of the competition. Only down fall is it is expensive.

I'd probably eat at A&W more often as I prefer their quality over other fast food giants; and if there was more of them around other than this location. Slow and a generous 1/5 for customer service.

Got a Beyond meat burger. Waited 15 mins for it, as they weren't cooking them. New equipment in house. Employees complained about everything all the while I was there. Person who seemed to be the supervisor was very loud about criticizing his staff. Burger a little undercooked, but edible.

3.75 pancakes, 1.50 for coffee and refills all day. Plus they laughed when I told them McDonald's charges for water.

Terrible service, was so slow as I watched two employees behind the counter try and act busy so they wouldn't have to help the one lady working the line. Restaurant was a mess, dirty windows/doors and stuff all over the floors including a drink. Not going back there.

Busy A&W. Avoid 11: 30 to 12: 30 as kids from nearby high school swarm and take over ALL the interior seating.

Very friendly and helpful service, quick delivery of the beyond burgers (in another A&W place we were told to wait 10 minutes) and there is even a drive thru.

How about you tell your night time staff to keep there voices down when people are trying to sleep?

Absolutely ridiculous how this woman loud talks.

The girl with shorter yellow died hair completely ruined our experience here. She was having a hissy fit in front of customers and refused to hand out people's food, instead leaving many orders in the heating tray while everyone stood waiting. When another employee (short purple hair) tried to get people their food, the other girl wouldn't let her and started having a full on temper tantrum right at the register. Absolutely unacceptable behaviour. We left then, as we knew our food and experience would be horrible.

The last few times I have been to this location they messed up my takeout order. When my grandson and I went for sit-in breakfast, all the tables were dirty and they messed up my order again, double charging me for my bacon.

Quick and the order was correct. I learned that pop refills are free. If you eat in and don't finish your pop, the staff will put your drink in to go cup and top it up for you too.

It's a fast food chain with ok burgers, great root beer, but just a little too pricey for what it is. Also the French fries suck really bad. Burgers good, root beer great, French fries blow, price way too high.
