A&W Canada

This A&W is one of the only fast food places we will stop on our road trips. It's refreshing to see a place that still hires teenagers to work and give them the valuable and necessary experience to grow towards their careers. The young man who helped us recently was professional and polite. Thank you to the management for recognizing that tens of thousands of BC teens are now struggling to find entry level work these last few years as these jobs become harder to come by for teens.

I often visited A&W when traveling with my family. This place has the friendliest staff I've ever been to. This employee was pleasant and really friendly to customer. I want to visit that place again.

Our place of choice to stop when we’re on a road trip to the interior and beyond. Foods always fresh, nice staff- what you want during/after a long drive.

Berry gud-great crowd-wonderful staff to cheer-lead us into getting our much needed Canuck national grubs. We don't deserve A&W! >_<

Disappointing experience. The staff are very slow - they waited until the entire previous order is ready and delivered before even acknowledging me. They weren't friendly at all, and when I told them I didn't need a bag for my order they just looked at me and looked away. At least the food was good

Very rude staff as well as very unorganized. I understand and am usually very patient but when you order 2 combos with no mods and it gets messed up 3 times something is wrong.
I've lived here for 14 years and never had this happen lol. Crazy.

Stopped in for lunch while travelling, the staff were kind and the location of this restaurant is convenient. Also it is newly renovated. Nice summer time outdoor picnic table seating! Classic A&W menu.

The usual A&W menu, the food was good. Service was a bit slow. There wasn't any indoor seating because they apparently had a fire. The washrooms were in need of a cleaning.

I really like A&W as a chain. They seem to be ahead of the curve on healthy food that doesn't have any antibiotics or steroids in it.

This particular A&W is notable for its staff. They are very friendly and go above and beyond to make sure that you're happy. It really is restaurant level service from a fast food venue.

This morning I ordered a great Canadian breakfast and the gentleman brought it out to me then asked me if I would like any jams or peanut butter with my toast. I was already asked this by the girl at the counter but I thought it was nice of him to ask again. I asked for ketchup and then when he came back I remembered that I needed salt and pepper and he went back for it and returned with a smile. Really tough to try to match this level of service at any other fast food place.

You can't go wrong with an A&W for a rest stop. I'm happy they had the hot dog back on the menu for a limited time, I really miss that.

The food and service was good. I just wish they didn't charge so much but I guess you get what you pay for.

Literally the best fast food experience I've ever had, must try the root beer in the cold mugs!

No healthy options.
One staff member needs to review food safety. She disgusted me which is a pity since the others were a good team. She handled dirty rags, wiped tables and her face/nose and helped serve food with NO hand washing.

I phoned in a special order that takes longer so I didn't have to wait when I arrived. I got to wait at home. They forgot and I still had to wait.

Was able to get a burger, they let me choose the cow I wanted meat from and even butchered it in front of me. Very fresh meat.

Very busy location in Merritt. Service is little slow. Not enough staff members to serve the customers.

Stopped in to Albert & Walter's.better known as A & W, in Merritt, BC and had a good breakfast sausage and egger.with a coffee. Hit the spot!

While traveling to Kelowna from the lower mainland, we stopped in here. The service was fast and the staff very friendly. Food was piping hot and fresh. We'll be back. Thank you

I always eat too much when I go to A&W - it is the best. I've gone to other A&Ws in other towns but have always been disappointed in their food. This one has held steady since 1975 when I moved here.

Covid practices followed. Enter one door and exit a different door. It was clean, staff was friendly and there was an overall friendly environment.

The guy taking the orders was really good, efficient and friendly. The food was good but took quite a while. Also asked for hot sauce, as they usually have it readily available at A&W, and we were almost done eating by the time it was available.

It was alright I eaten it, but then if you are hungry enough you'll eat anything and think it's good

I still like the taste they use to have with the old grills. The only A&W with the old grill is in Kamloops on Hwy. 5.

Went through drive through sat there for 4 mins before they came up and said they would be with is in a minute 3 mins after they took our order. Got to the window had to park as they were waiting for hashbrowns (its was 8am breakfast they shouldnt have to wait for hash browns)

Food was good everything was FRESH and WARM. Nice and welcoming staff, CLEAN WASHROOM and DINING area, PLENTY of parking, DRIVE THROUGH, also if you wish sit outside there are few tables with umbrellas. One thing I want to remind is they are really BUSY so please give them some TIME to prepare your order and they will do their BEST.

So glad we went here. A bit further off the highway but was worth the trip, the food was hot and fresh, the cashier was super friendly.

Great service with a smile. The restaurant is very family oriented. I Had the beyond meat breakfast sandwich and it was amazing.

Good tasting food; I do miss the Whistle Dog, though! Teen Burgers tasted fresh. Rings were fine; but the root beer was the best. Additionally, it's pretty clean and the WC was unusually clean and well stocked. Perfect road trip food.

A&W has a family feel. This one is like a dysfunctional family but it was still ok and highly entertaining.

Last time I ate at A&W was about 15 years ago when I ate meat (my old time favorite hamburger place). This last weekend on our way to Shuswap Lake we decided to check out A&W to see if they had a chicken burger and was extremely happy to discover that A&W now sells BEYOND MEAT burgers. It was AMAZING! Super delicious and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to avoid meat. Besides that, they had paper straws, and other healthier choices of food. On our way back we couldn't resist and had to stop there again to grab another one of these tasty burgers! Great job guys!

You know what? A&W are actually making a good product again. Their onion rings are made, like light years beyond your 1990s limp circle of disappointment.

Plus the lady closing that night was really genuinely nice to me, like for no reason other than that she's just nice.

Ain't that swell.

Plus. The teen burger was spot on too.

The Merritt store is clean with friendly courteous staff.

The A&W in Merritt had great food and the service was excellent We definitely will be going back there again

The plant-based beyond meat burger was super delicious. I asked for ingredients and it was made of mung bean. You couldn't tell the difference between the plant based patty and the the beef patty. I really liked it. The washroom was so clean and the people working at this location are super friendly.

Very slow drive through but maybe that means it is made to order? Just know I can't get through in under 20 mins if there are a couple people before me in line. Oh well, good food

Merritt location is alright. Burgers are decent, milkshakes are not great quality when compared to triple O. I'll eat here, but not regularly.

Other A&W locations I have found the food almost inedible from being too salty.

Foods always good and the coffee refills are free. Just wish they could more than 1 pc. Of lettuce in the wraps or on the burger.

Normally we give it 5 stars but this time it wasn't as good. Firstly the washrooms were a mess & smelled terrible of urine (puddles on the floor) Secondly it took quite awhile for our food and my chicken lettuce wrap must have Sat awhile because it was warm & wilty.
This is our favorite pit stop both going and coming from camping and this is the first time there has ever been anything to complain about. We will definitely give it another go as everyone has a bad day
