Barb's Fish & Chips

Meals were good, definitely fresh, made to order. We enjoyed both the fish and chips and hamburger we tried. Would definitely eat here again. As the food is made fresh to order, it does take some time, so expect to relax and wait.

Good was great, pretty good portions for the price, and cool to eat out on the wharf even if it is getting chilly this late in the season.

The food is good but they really need a close space to eat, it was so windy that we decided to eat in the car and you also spect to go for the view

Was very disappointed in the size of the fish and chips for the price we paid. Also very disappointed in the quality of the fish. We expected better. Had much better fish and chips at a diner downtown Victoria. Not recommended

The fish was light and flaking. The batter was light, churchy and not oily. The hotdog was grilles and the Pogo was a hit with my son. The food came quickly and was super yummy. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the food, we ate it to fast!

Wow, i have lived here for a long time, first time experience was great. Burger was delicious, my son reminded me my again of this, this morning. Fish was a hit, and fries were lovely.

Go to another store at the Wharf, unless you want to wait an hour for average tasting fish & chips.

Greetings, hungry wanderers! Allow me to recount my recent pit stop at Barbs Fish and Chips, where I embarked on a culinary adventure with.mixed results. Now, a fair heads-up before I dive in: my thoughts are EXCLUSIVELY about the chips, as I opted out of trying the "famed" fish.

Picture this: a bustling wharf, sunlight dancing on the water, and the promise of a savory snack. In pursuit of that classic comfort, I opted for a serving of chips. A craving for something crispy and flavorful had me excited. Alas, what I received was a bite of a disappointment.

The chips, unfortunately, were quite uneventful. They lacked the seasoning and kick that I had hoped for. It's as if they decided to skip the flavor party altogether, and go for dull, head on. On top of this, some were undercooked, leaving me with a slightly soggy experience. Not exactly the satisfying crunch I had been anticipating.

Considering the long lines and higher-than-expected prices, my chip adventure left me feeling a tad unfulfilled. After a day of exploring Victoria, I was hoping for a snack that would hit the spot, but it seemed the chips missed the mark.

Now, let's not dwell on the negatives entirely my dear humans. The staff, I must say, were quite amiable and accommodating. Their friendly demeanor did add a touch of positivity to the dining experience.

In the grand scheme of things, my journey to Barbs Fish and Chips ended up being a bit of a mixed bag. While the chips didn't quite deliver the flavor I was after, the overall experience wasn't a complete disaster. Perhaps the fish steals the show here, and maybe next time I'll give it a try. Until then, I'll keep my chip cravings in check.

The fish & chips was breaded & cooked okay - chowder was better, in my opinion.
Ketchup & malt vinegar in plastic packs & ramekin of tartar sauce came with our order.

Self serve soda fountain - okay - but fight the line & put up with unsupervised kids not caring who was behind them.

But seating on picnic benches on a floating dock & using wooden utensils and paper cups or plates - not what we thought it would be.

Restrooms on the dock are shred by other businesses & clean, maybe ADA accessible.

Bring your coat as this is right on the water.
Transportation - arrive by driving (parking available), walking or water taxi.

Bonus - watching seaplanes take off & lane in the harbor. But there are a great many other locations to watch seaplanes.

My partner just ordered us some cod and it was straight up soggy. Bland. Waste of time and money.

The ambiance in the Wharft is awesome. Unfortunately, Barbs tables do not have a view of the sea. The service is friendly and quick. The famous fish and chips didn't knock my socks off. The fish is fresh, but the breading is partly soggy and not crispy. The fries were also a bit soggy. Not the best fish and chips but the ambiance makes up for it.

I had the one piece grilled sockeye salmon basket. The fish was dry in my opinion and the coleslaw was too. Fries were good and also the Tartar sauce. Chicken strips were just ok and were mostly breading. My food expectations were unmet by this restaurant, but the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Ordered the two piece fish. One was moist on one side the other on both. Chips were underseasoned. And not worth the price like many things these days.

Delicious fish and chips. A little expensive but worth it for the quality of the food we got. Getting a table was difficult.

This has been one of my favourite spot for fried oysters and Halibut for many many years. Quality has dropped versus 30 years ago, but the place is still fully packed during the summer season. I will still go to this place, however with less enthusiasm as before.

Soooo disappointing.we fell for the hype and waited in line for bland fish, soggy chips, and bland grilled oysters, and seafood chowder with one little spoon of seafood in the entire bowl.they don't believe in seasoning the food here I guess.

We weren’t blown away the the fish n chips here. We also waited in a giant line to find out you were out of halibut. A sign would have been nice to let customers know before hand. Also, zero seating. We took our food to the park close by.
