Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken

Hit or miss but mostly hit these days, awesome flavor and a great place to being the kids. Plenty of booth seating and it doesn't get very noisy even when packed. We always order no sauce and then spice it up ourselves, that way everyone can share! It's a little pricey but you do get what you pay for.

Food was okay, I was hungry. But the service is cold and unfriendly! Just fast food level customer service at best, not what you’d expect in a restaurant. Does not encourage me to want to come back.

Service and food was absolutely amazing. The prices are good and i love that they have happy hour. The owner is so nice and friendly.
Everyone should check it out.

Me and my family went barcelos to try new food and we love the the veggie pita and the veggie wrap were so delicious and staff service was very nice so visit there it is very nice place to dine

Staff member taking order didn’t seem to know the menu, had to tell her kid’s meal came with a drink. Also very disorganized, had to go up to the counter three times to ask for missing items. Wasn’t even that busy.
The kid’s meal chicken leg and fries looked good. However, the chicken sandwich I ordered was quite disappointing. The chicken inside was very thin, like they cut the chicken breast in half lengthwise and flattened it out and much as they could. Didn’t even cover the whole bun! Won’t go there again especially since there are better options nearby.

Came in at 12pm and the server told me the wait is 15-20min. I am waiting for 40min and still no food on my table. The server did not inform nor apologized until I express my frustration. They are really busy keeping up with online orders and the most seats are empty. I would say order to go and call in first or face consequences

Barcelos chicken is to die for. The flame grill flavor and peri peri seasoning is perfect. Their rice and peri peri fries are great as well!
Biggest downside is their baked potatoes are extremely small, especially for the price.

We ordered chicken wrap combos (4). 2 tiny pieces chicken and all lettuce.

I usually order in Marine Way branch of Barcelos, and most of the time I order whole chicken only.
Today, I order chicken from this Marine Drive Branch, when I'm just 5 minutes away from this restaurant for take out, so when I arrived there in just more than 5 minutes they have only 2 people eating at 5: 30 pm, that is supposed to be busy but not. So I went to the counter, the chicken was already in the bag. I told the lady, that I usually don't want my chicken to be chop, but she said it's been chopped already and ready for pick up. So I just pay and leave, when I arrived home (5 minutes away from them) and open the bag, the chicken is not even hot, just warm. They just put a lot of sauce to the chicken. The chicken is not complete whole chicken, one of the wing was cut off, the back was also missing (my favorite part of chicken). I called the lady and asked why my chicken was like that, not hot, just warm and missing other parts, and she is making some alibi or reasons that doesn't make sense. I'm comparing to the other branch and other chicken restaurant like Nando's, their chicken is different, kind a HANDICAPPED. I don't recommend ordering from this branch. We are disappointed.

I had a huge craving for grilled chicken so I thought I'd try this place out. The chicken was flavorful and well seasoned however, I ordered a whole chicken and it was missing one of the breasts which was seriously disappointing. The option of two sides I chose grilled vegetables and peri fries. The portions are ridiculously small. The fries were just alright but the grilled vegetables were horrible! They were cramed into this tiny plastic container which mushed them all together. By the time I got home (5min away) they were mashed grilled vegetables. Clearly they were way over cooked and the choice of container was definitely a bad one.

Reg Sunday night meal, for 4 years went tonight price at least 15$ + more and the side dishes were way smaller we always order the jumbo which gives us 4 sides we get 1 rice and 3 fries but this time the 3 fries came in small bowls that equaled 1 bowl b4 and much less chicken was kinda disappointed, if your your going to raise prices don't lower the portions, not sure if we will be back

So i went dining barcelos there was great service and good food. I more thankful to mumtaj and her team she did very good job. I will recommend to all my friends.

Stingy as hell. Ordered a whole chicken that was missing pieces and their large sides wouldn’t even feed a small child. I won’t be back.

I have dined in at this place a new times and it never disappoints! Staff is nice and friendly as always.

Honestly. An upgraded version of Nando's, for suuuure! More fresh, juicy and flavourful chicken.and fries the perfect crispiness

Had a peri chicken Cesar pita (very peri spice level) with coleslaw and a Fruitopia. Service was friendly and food arrived quickly. Chicken was pretty tasty and portion size met expectations. Love the smell of BBQ char in the place. I'll probably be back.

The food and the restaurant are good with reasonable price. This is the first time I eat in the restaurant. The staff are welcoming and nice.

Went there to eat with a colleague of mine a few days ago. Our server was pleasant the atmosphere was okay. However the food; we had the chicken stir fry. It was a mix Mash of very light flavours that didn't really work well together. The chicken was tiny little cubes it looked like there was just a few pieces of chicken. The rice that was with it to me taste it and have texture like microwave Uncle Ben's rice it wasn't very tasty at all. Certainly not worth the dollar amount they were asking for. I haven't tried anything else at this restaurant however this meal that we had was not very good at all that's why I give it two stars out of five.

They take it seriously when you order food at a certain spice level and I can't lie my food was good for how spicy it was

The only place i can recommend for big gatherings. Food, ambiance and most especially the Staff are very nice, friendly and accomodating. I haven't seen any pleasant staff as Barcelo's Staff. We always eat here when we are a big group, in their Surrey location and Market Crossing location and they never let us down. The best customer service. They are second to none. Keep it up Barcelos!

Good chicken and decent portions. The sauce is fantastic (supa peri in particular), but when purchasing it, there was no bottle available post-purchase so it was placed in a Tupperware style container after being paid for with no refund option. Not ideal when it’s intended as a gift for a family member. Ended up using a turkey baster and coincidentally an empty Nando’s sauce bottle, so was able to salvage the sauce, and to the staff’s credit they did provide more sauce than would have otherwise been included in the bottle. Just a very weird experience overall. Tip: if you’re going to sell a bottled sauce, make sure it comes in a bottle after the transaction is completed!

Thrice in 3 months and always a wonderful experience.

Way better than nando's in my opinion. I find nando's chicken to beat dry, so I much prefer barcello's even the leftovers the next day or juicy juicy yum

Surprisingly good, I am not a big fan of food chains. I tried my luck with this one and it was delicious. Quarter chicken was perfectly flavoured and grilled. Could have done better with sides of grilled veggies, but to sum it up it was good!

I love Barcellos. It definitely has the edge over Nandos. The chicken tastes better and the layout and decor is nicer. Friendly attentive staff too

Excellent resturant. Portions were large and the food was excellent. Service was quick but not rushed. Plenty of seating and parking.

I visited Barcelos with my family they had amazing service but the chicken in my opinion was a bit dry. However this did not stop me from enjoying a large well portioned dish. This place is also halal so it’s worth checking out

My favorite chicken place. Better than all of the others. Prices are competitive with Nandos but flavourful and service is leagues above.

Pretty good service here, food came out quick. Kebab was a tad overcooked but the 1/2 chicken was great! Pretty standard for Barcelos, no surprises here. Nice decor and vibe inside. It’s a good fast food alternative.

Order some spicy chicken and fries. The server tried to tell me it would be to hot for me. That's never a good start. When it arrived it was sweet rather than spicy, and the chicken had clearly been cooked hours ago and reheated. It had the texture of rubber. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. Awful food.

Very bad service, the guy had an arrogant attitude and did not understood what I was ordering. The same person who touched the screen without gloves to take my order went into kitchen and prepared the food without at least washing hands. Then another person packed the food after speaking on the phone without washing hands or wearing gloves. They should be more careful these days as everyone is trying to protect themselves and others. Also, I’ve orders not spicy food but it was at least medium spicy. Maybe they don’t like or appreciate their job but is not the customer’s fault.

Great spot for a quick lunch that's consistently good. The service is always friendly and food comes out quickly. The selection is great but I always find myself ordering the same thing which is the double kebab with peri fries. Lots of seating and suitable for larger groups too. I'll be back again soon!

Got the extra spicy chicken caesar wrap with side salad and fries. It was definitely spicy and delicious in every way. Respect for not holding back on the spice, that was insane. Salad looks fresh too!

Kebab was good. Grilled chicken was ok. Would prefer a little more grilled with crispier skin. Greek salad is not a greek salad as it was mostly lettuce and hardly enough to feed 2-3 people. We probably wouldn't return.

The place looks really nice and it makes for a pleasant atmosphere, especially due to some creative wall decorations using African motifs.
Food is ok and but could get better if they would ask before soaking salads with sharp dressing of their own choice.
Staff seems stressed and hurried even with the place is mostly empty. I wonder why.

Great food. Amazing service by Siman. The place was almost closed but she stayed back and made sure we had a great experience.

Fake nandos. Came for lunch with a friend, ordered two legs each, they put the wrong legs with the wrong side, mine were the less spicy when meant to be spicy, so we had to swap when we'd already taken bites. Probably rushed at lunch the chicken wasnt fully cooked, but still edible. The flame flavour was good, but thought it was expensive for two legs and fries, would've gotten another side but was already 15 dollars so still a little hungry.

If your hungry for that summer time feeling of eating an out door BBQ with lemon, spicy chicken of all levels with corn, mash potatoes, coleslaw, then this is the place to be. Don’t forget the cold drinks to wash it down.

Food tastes amazing. Vegetarian chicken tastes just like real chicken. You can't tell it's not chicken! Very friendly staff.

The food is amazing! The people that work at this location are wonderful! When we call in an order, they know exactly who we are and treat us so kindly! We highly recommend this food and the friendly Barcelos Employees!

A Nando's competitor for your peri-peri dreams. The chicken are well cooked and tasty. If you want moist and juicy chicken, then this it.

Visited there with my friends last Monday. Food was too good and delicious. Staff was too frank specially the guy named Gurveer. Can’t wait to visit there

Hey, went there on tuesday evening. The girl working at the front desk was amazing. She was so polite and comfortable with me. I ordered a family pack and the food was also delicious. I would love to go backagain and try something new. The peri peri fries were very delicious and better than nandos.

I loved Barcelos but noticed a distinct difference in the flavor of the sauce. My question is; why oh why mess with perfection? I asked the staff and they said nothing changed but I'm sure I taste additional spices and some sort of a cream base that wasn't there before.

We went to the Burnaby Barcelos and it was nothing special. Though when I phoned them they said it is better than Nandos no where near it. We ordered 2 chicken combo with 3 sides and 5 garlic bread slices was for $60 and the chicken were so small. For extra garlic slice it was 3.79. Seems like they had chicken ready because it was served in 5 mins. The workers were polite but does not help if the food was not up to the par.

Unbelievable this pace gets a better rating than Nandos. The ambiance and service maybe up to par or better, but chicken are much more commercial, fattier, and hormone ridden with fatty skin. Nando's also gives you much better sauces. They give you salad dressing here for sauce

Food is fine but nothing fancy; the sign is a chicken, they sell chicken. But their prices are HILARIOUSLY high. $14 for two decent pieces of chicken and one side should be considered money laundering.

There supposed to be a halal restaurant, but have been carrying non halal beef patties for the past two weeks, instead of canceling the order they figured to continue making money they'd sell non halal beef patties.

Went here for the first time. Ordered wings, sandwich, and a wrap. Everything was good. Will come back if I'm ever in the area again.

Do you really want to eat it when you open the box and see these over grilled food? I ordered their food through skip dishes and the delivery was fast, (that's the one star for, the food only worth negative star). I am curious what was the stuff thinking about when they saw these and still chose to package them for delivery. Making mistakes during grilling is normal but you choose to give it to customer is definitely not OK!

I always come here with friends and family. Great location and Great staff, specially Priya she always provide us with 5* service.

Made an order for pick up told me 15min. Got there 20min later paid for the food expecting it to be ready but told to wait 10 more min. Then 10 min later I come to the counter again and then told they were out of grilled veggies after I had paid and seen them give them to someone else who ordered after me. Then I see them making my order after. Completely unorganized staff. See them arguing with themselves while making food. Can see the cook get frustrated by other staff. Kind of funny. But this location is poorly run. Food wasn't to bad though. Staff is. Poorly trained if at all. Lol. Was entertaining to watch though.
