The cast are great storytellers. I particularly liked Amazing Stories at 9am and the town tour at 10am. Kelly House and the water wheel demo were also worthwhile. The food at Lung Duck Tong restaurant was surprisingly good.

Totally worth the stop and we will be going back because you can't see it all on one day.

Très chouette site à visiter si vous n'êtes pas trop loin dans les environs.
Expérience rare qui m'a plongé 100-150 ans en arrière.
Intéressant, instructif et bien fait.
Bonne organisation et prix adéquats.

Everyone loved it. It was well done and informative. The actors walking around added a whimsy to the day. Some nice handcrafted cocktails in the saloon, delicious treats from the bakery, and heaps of history.

This oldest mining hamlet in Canada, named after the 1st gpud explorer Billy Barker, is beautifully preserved! It is definitely worth following Hwy 20 for 40 miles (and back another x 2 miles) to visit Barkerville. In 2023 the entrance fee for an adult was CAD 20. There are also a few hotels and restaurants.

Having grown up in the Wells and Quesnel area from age 3 to 12, I visited Barkerville many times before they even started charging admission. When I first started visiting, the buildings were over 100 years old then, with only a few having been restored by the Historical Society or BC Government. The last time I visited was in 1998 with my now-deceased Uncle, and more buildings were restored and opened.

However, this most recent time I visited, on June 26th, 2023, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many more buildings were restored and open for viewing or experiencing. More stores were open, too. I was so glad to learn that the Barkerville Post Office was reopened after they finally got a new Postmaster. Mailed a Barkerville post card back home to the States, with a Barkerville postmark on it.

My Aunt and I attended a wonderful live performance at Theatre Royal, which I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Bella from England, was one of the performers. Previously I had had a very pleasant conversation with her, in period costume, on the boardwalk a short ways away. She was so wonderful in so many ways.

In all the years I had visited Barkerville as a kid, I had never taken a Stagecoach ride. I wish I had in those days because being older now and having a messed up back from a wreck 4-1/2 years ago, I found the Stagecoach ride I took this time was very jarring on my back and shoulders resulting in a lot of the pain the rest of the day. I wondered how in the old days travelers could ride long distances in a Stagecoach. It was my own fault, I should have known that it would jar my back. But I'm glad I had the stagecoach experience one time. Never again for me, though! LOL

Prior to entering the historical town, my Aunt and I visited my Uncle's grave on the Barkerville cemetery, and spent some time there. He used to work in Barkerville for many years driving a team of horses hauling the mail wagon.

This was the BEST visit to Barkerville ever!

This was so much fun! I love that it was a living historical village. We found lots to do and eat.

This place was awesome. Going back in time and learning all about that time period. Went on a stage coach ride and even ate at the Chinese restaurant there. The food was ok, nothing special. Bought some baked goods at the bakery they were yummy. If I ever went back to the area I would visit again.

It's definitely not worth going there. Is in this sense an open-air museum with actors. When we got there at 10: 00 a.m. Everything was deserted. Many write you even need several days to see everything here? We were through after 1 hour and hadn't seen / experienced anything exciting. It is definitely not worth the entrance fee.

Barkerville is one of my top places to visit. From the actors to the genuine knowledge everyone there has about what happened in the gold rush. The gift shop I found to be incredibly reasonable. Everything I wanted was priced at such a point that made it possible to get it.

It's a very fun day. Really enjoyed ourselves. The people working the park and narrating are very good. The stagecoach ride was really nice. People are excellent

Great place to spend at least a day to explore. I got the impression that there is more to do in the summer, as things on the map to do weren't all open

Fun place for the family to go.
Reasonable prices for admission.
Ask about your status card as well.
Restaurants and lots of gift shops.
Great place.
Carriage rides ask about that though.
