Barkley Cafe

Stopped here for hot drink and snack on the way back from a walk on a chilly November afternoon. Coming from Vancouver, I wasn't sure what the cafes are like in Ucluelet, but this cafe would do great in Vancouver against hundreds of them. Very lovely decor, good service, and my matcha oat milk latte was perfect.

Two stars for because they provide wifi; coffee was tasteless: ordered a flat white and got a glass of steamed milk

Excellent food and service! The employees are very nice and prepare the food with great quality! Vinny especially makes good coffees.

BUT the music is very loud and aggressive for a cafe where you just want to enjoy your hot drink. (august 10th)

Ordered the breakfast wrap, the potato was undercooked and the egg was cold in the middle, like it had come straight out of the fridge.

The coffee and food were great, really enjoyed the breakfast wrap. Lots of cool coffee brewing options for sale on the shelves here with a nice cosy atmosphere in the place. Staff were friendly and there’s a wall of interesting historical facts about Ucluelet which was nice to read while waiting for your order.

Bit disappointed with this cafe…their items I think are overpriced. Charging 90 cents for alternative milks and also apparently charge additional for ice. It was great however to have seen that they have gluten free baked goods (again overpriced) but their brownie did taste good (hence the 3 stars). Seems they overprice items because they know tourists come here often so they take advantage of this.

Seems like it's consistently open the earliest in Ucluelet and does a smart, quick business with coffee and breakfast. The hot and ready selection of breakfast sandwiches needs to drift to the big city - so handy to get to grab and go. Coffee is also excellent - rich, delicious espresso-like drip, even.

Didn't like the coffee, it tasted pepper.
The service was not good as well. We requested porcelain cup and later she told me it is too late time of the day for a porcelain cop!

What a sweet, super friendly place. Loved the banana bread, my husband was praising the Panini, we loved the coffee (and specifically the paper cup covers you can compost after -if you forgot to bring your own cup on the go). The atmosphere is great and all together a place I would like to come back to (-;

The service here is decent, the prices are interesting (+50 cents to make a latte iced, not sure if I understand that), and the coffee is okay. The hours are some of the best in town, however, and I appreciate that all of their takeaway coffee cups/lids/sleeves/straws are compostable.

Ordered two cups of latte when no one was there, waited for 20 mins. When reminded staff that we were still waiting, they staff was not friendly. When received one of the latte, it was cold. The staff decided to microwave the coffee and gave us bad attitude. It’s too bad, we like the place as it looks cuter. But we consistently getting bad coffee/tea and slow service regardless how busy the place was.

Excellent little coffee shop in the heart of Ucluelet. Usually full of people in the mornings. Friendly service! Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor tables too in the sunshine. Super cozy, great coffee, free wifi, recommended!

Stopped in for the fresh muffins sitting in the window, stayed for the coffee and elderly man with a great sense of humour!:)

Decent coffee and good quick breakfast sandwich. Lineups in the morning are long! Maybe short staffed or just a really busy day but lineups were long! Still good though.

The food listed on their instagram/website is not what they carry AT ALL. Nothing on their instagram page is sold here, not even anything close. Their online menu shows beautiful bowls, vegan options, fancy pastries etc but only egg and cheese breakfast sandwich/wraps and pre-wrapped muffins are available here. Food is also not fresh. The $1.50 hashbrowns side is literally several soggy slices of baby potato, not even enough for a full bite. Staff is very friendly though and coffee was good.

Very friendly little shop. Open earlier than the rest in town. I can only speak to the chai and the batch brew but those were both great. Excellent wifi signal through Telus.

Great atmosphere and vibe at Barkley! The good is delicious and the breakfast sandwiches are full of flavour. We always love stopping by when we’re visiting the area, highly recommended!

Positives - really good coffee and muffins. Reminds me of fresh muffins from grandma's oven. Staff is super friendly. I wouldn't suggest you plan your entire breakfast there. The side of hash browns were essentially two small potatoes warmed up. That being said, the bagel with cream cheese and jam was good.

Had great breakfast bagels and yummy lattes! The staff were friendly and the environment is very inviting and lovely with good spacing. Lots of cute details in the decor. Wonderful spot!

Very friendly place and very supportive to local artists! We visited to watch some great locals musicians and to enjoy some drinks!

We stopped here for a couple breakfast wraps this morning. They are made fresh so take a few minutes. But SO WORTH IT! Delicious!

Go for the English muffin breakfast sandwich but stay for the peanut butter cookie. It's the best!

Hash-browns are McCain’s triangle hash-browns
Bacon was uncooked and they clearly don’t clean their panini press
Chai tea latte is why I’m giving two stars
It was the only thing saving them from 1 star

The place in my opinion is cluttered and demands you only spend 30 minutes in their establishment so other people can spend money, which is understandable for tourist season, not fall and winter.

Excellent nanaimo bar! The matcha latte was also delicious; authentic tasting matcha and sweetened perfectly.

Was told to come to this coffee shop for the cinnamon buns.but cafe was closed. Please update your web site which says you are open Sat & Sunday

Best latte I've had in BC so far! Definitely check out this lovely local spot! The breakfast burrito was delicious

IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST CAFES IN MY LIFE. I had a breakfast burrito with hashbrown and iced Matcha latte. IT WAS EFF PERFECT.

Did not care for the coffee here at all, but the muffins are delicious and worth the stop. The staff is very friendly and quick. Coffee drinks were well made but found the coffee "muddy" tasting. Will try again next time cause the baked goods were delish

A must-try breakfast place in Ucluelet. Offers vegetarian options too. The staff is super cool and inviting! Overall, loved the place very much!

Amazing food! Great service. Very friendly and welcoming employees. Stopped for breakfast, and came back for lunch it was so good. Only visiting Ucluet, but will be back on my next trip. I highly recommend!

Dissapointing was really looking forward to a good cup of coffee americano and it was like warm water with a slight taste of coffee

Incredible food, beautifully made coffee and fantastic service. A must stop if you head through Uclulet looking for a bite to eat.

The best Tea we have had EVER! Bagels and chocolate brownie were amazing. Nice hospitality and wonderful ambiance. Thumbs up all the way!

We stopped in after arriving in Ukee from Port Alberni. We had great hot drinks and a wonderful breakfast. We recieved quick and friendly service and they even accommodated my odd food allergens and substitutions with a smile. Funky west coast style decor and lovely music playing.

They had no idea if they have gluten in their Irish coffee and had no desire to assist or help.

Great place if you love bold coffee. Ordered some food and coffee for brunch. The barista got our drinks very promptly, asked for a medium coffee found it quite bold dark. Food took a while was 3 people in front of us. If you’re not in a rush for food here is a good place to relax and chill. Have a coffee and chat. Found that the eggs needed some seasoning in the wrap, bacon was great. Would come back at a less busy time to try again.

Really quaint and delicious coffee shop. The home made breakfast sandwiches/wraps are to die for and the pastries are incredible. Definitely a must stop to take a warm beverage with you on an outdoor fall walk.

Decided to come here during our stay. Very warm and inviting atmosphere, delicious food, great staff and fast service. Would definitely recommend.

The Americano coffee was awful. The breakfast sandwich was awesome, but took almost 15 minutes to appear. Prices too high.

The staff at the counter looked so hungover and at any moment looked like she could vomit at any time. Placed our order to a very unplesant women that was barley awake enough to pay any attention enough to get the order right. 25 min later the 2 simple coffees that were ordered came out wrong. Zoes coffee shop is just around the corner with a smile and quick service

We enjoyed lunch twice at this place. Friendly service and decent quality of food. Not much choice there anyway despite the food trucks. Parking just in front. Friendly and efficient staff. Crowded at times.

A lovely small coffee spot that has a decent breakfast and lunch menu, excellent staff, and a superb attitude.
When I went to the counter to pick up our breakfast sandwiches, the cook (who had received a note that my wife is lactose intolerant) pointed out that the egg mixture in her sandwich was prepared ahead of time with cheese. When I explained this would make my wife sick, he replaced it a few minutes later with a non-cheese version. Cheerfully and with apologies. And he did it when they were incredibly busy.
