Had to back my 24' trailer all the way down the tiny campground as there is no room to get into the end site. No "loud music". Ever. Wanted my gf to come visit and I wasn't allowed. No visitors after 8! And even only on "even days" whatever those are as my campsite was an even number. And no privacy. Firepits are lined up behind the rvs so you're having a fire right beside your neighbor.
We had made an online reservation and a campsite was assigned to us. Upon arrival their rope/gate was up. Their office was closed, we called twice and left messages. We walked the campground area hoping to locate the manager. We stayed approximately 30 minutes before leaving. We did call again leaving yet another message to cancel our reservation.
The view is nice and lot of shellfish. Can be noisy at night and owner dont really care. Not a lot of trees so not really private. Washroom are ok and clean
Beautiful camping sites right on the water. All the amenities such as shower, washroom, laundry, trailer hookups, firewood, wifi and you can rent a boat for fishing and purchase fishing tackle. The owners are great as well. Great place.
Really liked staying here. Beautiful mountain/sea views. WiFi a bit intermittent, no dish washing station for tenting so have to use buckets and loos as grey water disposal.
For what it is, it seems fine. Very friendly owner George & John Bates. Small place but right on the water away from noisy traffic. Just watch for deer on the road around here. Deer everywhere. Between 20 or 30 stalls with full hookup and places for tenting as well. We're in a 40 ft. Motorhome. Parking was fine. Leaving when its full might not be.
What a lovely small campground! It was our first time there and we will be back. We went on an impromptu trip of the island and we found this one in Courtney. They were accommodating, friendly and clean. The nice thing about Bates is that it is a fairly central location close to everything yet far enough out that you have the serenity of the forest and ocean. The property sits alongside seal bay beach which is a beautiful park and a sandy beach. We saw seals and lots of ducks as well there was a beautiful little stream running in the middle of the campground. It acted like a natural barrier between the fully serviced "glamping" spots and the water/electricity only sites.
