We had the best meal and service here Sunday evening. Ashley is a fantastic server and really made the experience all around fabulous.

The best service! They make you feel so welcome and they seem genuinely happy you’re there! The food is unbelievable! We had the special seafood risotto. Hands down the best risotto I’ve ever had

Food and service was amazing but difficult for anyone with a mobility issue to get to as there are lots of stairs to get to restaurant.

Tried this place for the first time and was so impressed with the environment of the restaurant. The food was okay, nothing special and got cold pretty fast but it was filling.
My boyfriend and I were so disappointed with our server (Danalee). You could tell that our server had favourite tables which caused her to neglect all her other tables.

Great food and service. Accommodation for a group of 8 same day reservation. Staff were attentive and swift. Food was top tier.

Why not 5 stars? There are a lot of stairs you will have to navigate to enter this restaurant, and no elevator (or at least not an obvious one). So, if stairs are difficult or not an option for you, you won't be able to go here.

Our most favourite restaurant, not only for the great food but the fantastic service from Dana and her crew.

Had a fantastic dinner while having the coziness of the fire place right beside us. A great schnitzel and fantastic bottle of wine. 2nd time being at this restaurant and had great service both times.

Their constant presence was highly appreciated but not overwhelming. On our last weekend in Abbotsford we decided to dine once more at the Bavaria, we love the atmosphere, the service is great and the food tasty and delicious. I tried the clam chowder and my husband had the lobster bisque as an appetizer, I would have to say it was one of the tastiest clam chowder, it was a special on the menu. For dinner I had the steak and lobster bake with fresh vegetables and my husband had the schnitzel paired with a beautiful red wine that we hadn’t had in a while The Edge. A beautiful evening had at the family run business nestled close to downtown. If you like great food and wonderful service you won’t be disappointed

Visited for the first time in about 15 years. Restaurant is more beautiful now, but still serves good food at a good price with great service. The restaurant isn't in the most walkable area, and if you're driving, you might find it tough to find a spot. There is a moderate amount of street parking, and a few businesses without 'no parking' signs you can gamble on. The restaurant is also on the second story and I didn't see an obvious elevator up (but maybe it is tucked away in the back.)

Menu seems overpriced for the area. Its not the keg, its not downtown vancouver lmao.

Terrible service. Hubby had to go to bar just to get drinks. Never got offered another drink. Food was OK. Won't be back. All our server did was stand around and do nothing. Terrible service

The ambience is dark but very cozy.
The staff is very friendly.
The chicken and vegetarian schnitzel was really great.
Warsteiner is not Bavarian beer.

Reserved for a dinner with my family, my senior father had a hard time using the stairs. If you are disabled, or have any trouble walking this will be an issue. It was busy, the servers were nice. I ordered a special fall drink, a pumpkin white Russian, it was amazing! I highly recommend this drink. Bacon wrapped scallops were good. My partner and I shared a pretzel with mustard.

We came to try the schnitzels and they were good. Shrimp and bernaise was crispy and nice, my father complimented that his steak was tender, the brown sauce mushroom schnitzel was not too bad. One of us ordered the mushroom and cheese Schnitzel but they said it wasn't that great. (No sauce just cheese on top of mushrooms) Overall an enjoyable experience, the molten lava cake was delicious and an awesome finisher to the meal.

Our servers did seem a bit frustrated but understandablt as it was very busy and it might have been a rough day. Reasonably priced, tho the booth bench seats hurt your butt cheeks after awhile.there's not much padding.

Trying to be a top quality German restaurant but not there, and far from authentic German food. We are a family of four, 2 adults and 2 university students, my wife is 100% German. We started with calamari and escargot, the calamari was very greasy. We ordered 2 Schnitzels and 2 12oz New York steaks. Schnitzel cordon blue.wasn't! The cheese wasn't inside, just melted on top. Spaetzle was odd, pieces too small almost like rice. Steaks were cooked to perfection but vegetables were cut too thin, over cooked & mushy. Sauted mushrooms were rubbery, no evidence of saute' more like warmed up canned mushrooms! My sons steak was trimmed well, he got 12 oz of beautiful meat. Mine contained at least 3 oz of inedible grisle, fat and tendon so I only had 9 oz. This restaurant cuts their own steaks in house and you can order by the oz. I raised my concern that the chef should be trimming steaks better, mine should have been trimmed down to a 10,9 or 8 oz and not passed off as 12!

The waitress became very defensive as I showed my sons left overs vs mine.

She said she would pass on the feedback. On her return she made an excuse, kitchen staff is new and offered a free appy next visit.

This is the worst way to address a concern. You overcharge me for my meal and don't correct it, then expect me to come back and spend more in order to redeem an appy card.

If this was a top level German style restaurant caring about quality and reputation.
1) they would not put inexperienced staff in critical roles on weekends.
2) they would not use new staff as an excuse
3) they should have reduced the price of my steak to the cost of a 9 oz
4) they would ensure their German cuisine is as authentic as possible.

We started with scallops wrapped in bacon which were excellent. The Chateaubriand served with sautéed julienned vegetables and a baked potato and Cherries Jubilee for dessert were out of this world! Our expectations were not only met, they were surpassed. I give ‘thanks’ to the Chef for cooking our meat to perfections as well as providing all gluten free sauces alongside the meal.

Good food, friendly staff and great service. Located on second floor so not friendly to mobility challenged patrons.

Went to Bavaria last night for the first time. Everything was fantastic! Great ambience. Great food. Fantastic service. A special thank you to Ashley for making our dining experience wonderful and special.

Absolutely delicious food! Never been here before and I have lived in Abbotsford my whole life. Sorely regretting it. Definitely not somewhere with my funds can go often but will definitely celebrate birthdays here!
Was super busy but service kept up; did wait on drinks a few times but that's understandable. The server was nice and put up with changing how we wanted the bills numerous times.
Definitely would go back!

5 stars for the food, zero for seating, zero for parking.
Awesome place for a nice dinner, unless you're unlikely enough to get sat down in the middle section with a group of 4 people. Just look at the pictures. The tables in the middle are approximately 32"x32", not big enough to fit 4 plates, drinks and appies; and also lower than your knees if you happen to be tall. Good luck reaching the table or getting comfortable in the lazy boy style seating. And if you sit back to give your back a break, it's too loud to have a conversation.

When asked to relocate to a normal table/empty booth you get "sorry, it's all reserved". Let me add I made a reservation too.

Ended up walking out, and magically a table became available.

Being from Port Alberni and a frequent Diner at the Little Bavaria there the bar was set quite High but the Bavarian restaurant in Abbotsford came through with flying colors. The atmosphere was great the service was outstanding and the food second to none. Highly recommend this dining experience.

Staff was amazingly kind, food was ok, schnitzel not as big and tasty as my brain remembers, no weizen bier available and no changing tables in the washrooms! Baked goat cheese totally recommended!

We were at this restaurant last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were a party of 9 and basically the entire staff was friendly and very accommodating! The server was especially nice and and thorough. We all loved our meals. Looks like not much from the outside but the food really is good, huge portions. Definitely can see the staff is a great team. They also made my baby niece's day, they were so good to her!

Enjoyed a special Winner Winner dinner here after having a fun nite at Chances Casino where we finally had a decent big win.

My wife Roni and I had a wonderful evening tonight. Our server was fantastic (regret not getting her name). We noticed there seemed to be team work happening with everyone. Our food - Schnitzel with Bernaise sauce fabulous thank you will definitely be back!

We were intending on having Greek that night but discovered this gem instead and took a chance. Glad we did! Make a reservation, otherwise you might have a short wait-but still you'll be glad your patience pays off. Food is top notch and so is the service. We would gladly drive out from Vancouver again. Their red cabbage is REALLY good.one of the best, I think. Schnitzel is oh so tender. Spaetzel done the traditional German way, from scratch. You won't be disappointed.

A fantastic meal to celebrate our anniversary. One of the best meals we've ever eaten. Would definitely recommend it.

My GF loves this place. We go with her mom on her birthdays every year. Her steak was always Top notch! BUT The past 2 years I've gotten incredibly sick after eating the cajun chicken. I won't be returning. If it happens once that's luck of the draw. But Twice! Not risking that pain a third time!

Barvaria is amazing! The menu, drinks, and service are all superb. My fiancé introduced Barvaria to my and I'm so happy he did!

Great food and friendly staff. The price matches the food and service quality as well as the great atmosphere.

First time visiting this place. Ordered the chicken schnitzel. Huge portions. The red cabbage reminded me of my mom's. So good. Finished off the meal with a piece of black forest cake. Light, fluffy and oh so delicious. Will be returning to try other things on the menu.

The staff are always so nice! The food is good, comes out hot. The servers don't hover over you but come over with refills at just the right times! Ours made me a fresh pot of coffee after my dinner: D The Peppermint Twist cocktail was delicious!

A very good, down to earth place to go for great steaks, schnitzel and even a beef Wellington. They just know good cooking with great service.

Always a nice evening at Bavarian Restaurant. Splurged for my hubby's birthday and got the Chateaubriand. Unfortunately it did not live up to taste/quality expectations. Felt that there could have been a bit more quality on the sides. The mashed potatoes were not as good as before and were Luke warm. Goulash was awesome and I love the side bread they serve with it. Had mushrooms Neptune to start and they were very good. The steak was not prepared the way I had read " Chateaubriand (sometimes called chateaubriand steak) is a dish that traditionally consists of a large center cut fillet of tenderloin grilled between two lesser pieces of meat that are discarded after cooking. " And it was pretty crispy on the entire outside which was dissapointing.

The food was delicious, all 7 of us loved our food. The staff was so personable, definitely will go again.

Never a bad experience. Was worried that the pandemic would have impacted them negatively. So glad they managed to stay open and are able to provide excellent service and food to match.

Despite a NEARLY EMPTY dining hall it still took 5 minutes for a server to seat us. After that we waited for more than 20 mins for our order to be taken, after nearly an hour into our dinner we had only had appetizers, water, and a single drink served before they FINALLY brought our food out. Once we had our meals, the night did not improve.

Shnitzel was cooked too long and dried out, chicken wings were over cooked and underseasoned, one of my wings was simply skin and bone with hardly any meat on it at all, crab was way overdone and almost rubbery to the point of not even finishing it.

At the end of the day, highly disappointed with the service, food, and overall experience here.

Staff are friendly, drinks are generous, and the food is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the Beef Welington

The food (schnitzel) is outstanding. The staff is very friendly. I absolutely love this place. The owners are dedicated to this family business.

The oysters were out of this world! The service even better. The atmosphere was incredible. Will definitely be returning! If you like oysters, cocktail sauce and Grey Goose. I highly recommend the oyster shots! To die for!

It was awesome fantastic. Truly a 6 out of 5 as it's always been. We don't go often but when we want a special experience they always deliver. Tonight was our 43rd wedding anniversary so for a special occasion there is no other choice in Abbotsford

Went for our anniversary. It was a great experience. We both had prime rib and it was delicious! Our server was Dani, she was very efficient and offered great customer service.
I highly recommend this restaurant. We will certainly be back.

This is one restaurant that we will absolutely return to very soon. Their menu was large enough to have a decent amount of selection within each section to be interesting to all palates, but wasn't overwhelming with complexity.

Do not value patrons! Our first time we went in we were turned away saying we needed a reservation. We phoned ahead and made reservations on am answering machine? !? We arrived 2 days after it had snowed. No snow was cleared not even a path to the door. Wearing nice clothes and heels, my date and I were not impressed. When were were seated I was given a sticky menu with the paper in side sill soaked from the drink previously spilled on it. Already so annoyed no matter what they served us we probably wouldnt enjoy. I thought this would be a nice date, what a disappointment!

Decent place for a steak but for the price there are better restaurants out there. Service is hit and miss. Had a waitress named Dani I believe, who provided very poor service. Didn't bring soup & bread and had a negative attitude throughout. Also, the front entrance stairs have a gross musty smell. Went a few times now but unlikely to return for a while

Good variety, so everyone is happy. Were there on Nov 30th for a birthday. Party of 8 and the service was excellent, food delicious and everyone was happy.

My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try based on the reviews online and she had been there once a few years back. We just wanted to share a few appys and were not going to order an entree during this visit. It took almost 20 minutes to get our drinks and we actually had to ask one of the other girls to flag down our waitress. So far, not so good. We ordered 4 appys to share. Mussels, lobster bake, Lamb popsicles (came with 2) with seared scallop (came with 2) and bacon wrapped filet mignon bites.

The mussels arrived first. They were very poor quality as most of them didn't even have any actual mussels in them, just something that looked like sinew and tendons. I wish I had taken a photo. The waitress took them back to get another order done for us. The 2nd order came out exactly the same which makes me question the quality control after something has already been sent back once. I opened 3 of them with the waitress there to witness. Removed from the bill.

The lamb popsicles and scallops were edible, but they were nothing to write home about.

We enjoyed the lobster bake. Again, nothing spectacular.

The bacon wrapped filet mignon arrived and we each popped one in our mouth and it wasn't beef. We received bacon wrapped scallops instead. Oops. Obviously we were ordering seafood so neither one of us have allergies, but just think about how that careless mistake could have an effect on someone who did have a seafood allergy. That wouldn't be good. A replacement order arrived and it they were mostly charred and 1 was missing bacon all together. They tasted like they were drowning in no name bbq sauce, which begs the question as to whether they were actually filet and not a few pieces of sirloin disguised as filet? We had those removed from the bill as well. Photo attached.

So after about an hour and a half, we received a bill of $46 and had one lamb popsicle, 1 scallop, 3 pieces of lobster bake, 1 bacon wrapped scallop (by mistake) and a half of a bacon wrapped filet mignon bite each.

The waitress was borderline rude throughout the entire process. Her solution was to present us with a $20 gift certificate. We were certainly not interested in returning to this restaurant so we left the $20 gift certificate behind because I would not even give it away to anyone I didn't like.

So after $46 and slow rude service, we left hungry and went to a drive through. Maybe we hit a bad night but when 6 items come to the table and 4 are returned, that must have been a REALLY bad night. I don't recommend wasting your time.

One of the best places in town for steak, always done perfectly and the service is fantastic. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and we have never left unhappy

Wow. I gave an honest poor review last week including this photo.it has been removed. Would you eat these? These were supposed to be bacon wrapped filet mignon. 6 items came to the table and I sent 4 back. They offered me a $20 gift certificate which I left behind. I was actually kind if insulted by the lack of care the waitress showed us. I sorted all reviews by lowest and apparently the last bad review was 9 months ago. I find that hard to believe.there's some truth in advertising for you! When you get a bad review, do something about the service instead of flagging the bad reviews for removal!

Me and my family went there and me, my dad and my mom got the steak so we got the same thing and it was delicious and my sister and brother got food as well and they thought it was delicious too

This is a hidden gem. Delicious German food plus seafood, steak, full choice appies. Moderate cost, friendly staff that do their job well and with a sense of urgency. Many menu choices that aren't available at a lot of restaurants.

We brought a large group, and received excellent service from friendly, knowledgeable staff. They have a wide variety of foods on their menu. There is a nice variety of beverages, though the selections within each type are frankly limited. I had the 10 oz Bavaria Steak with Sauteed Prawns. It was perfectly cooked and just what I was looking for. Do yourself a favor and visit this place the next time you are anywhere near. You'll be glad you did!

It may look like your average neighborhood eatery, but Bavaria German Restaurant is anything but that!

We heard through the grapevine, that this was a place not to be missed, so we all made it point to come and check it out. As advised by our friends, we set a dinner reservation (strongly recommended) and wandered in on a Friday night, and we were immediately greeted by the friendly owner and her staff and oh, the incredible aroma of scratch-made Bavarian cooking!

The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 6: 00 pm) but we didn’t need to worry about snagging a table – the reservations came in hand for this. Note, we love to dine later in the evening, but this place is sooooooooo hard to get reservations, we agreed to check this time out.

We ordered the kartoffel kas and two orders of weisswurst - heaven!

Then it was on to the main event, two schnitzel wiener - if you please!
We went this way simple to satisfy the longing for REAL schnitzel.the menu has a great balance of traditional and specials.
Side note: trust me when I say, we go here often enough now that the off the menu option are presented.yummmmmm - yes, please!

All of this food is over the top AMAZING.
It’s as if, someone Oma is in the back cooking away.but only better!
Honestly, if you miss or ever held a wish to go to Bavaria to enjoy their cuisine, this is your first stop!

Okay, now it’s time for dessert (nachspeise)
Apfelstrudel (homemade) and the pfannkuchen are both PERFECTLY executed!
The crust was crisp, flavorful, and a complete delight to round out this dinner.

Andy had the pfannkuchen and I had the apfelstrudel - truth be told, the servings were a bit too generous, but this is the Bavarian way.leave them full AND satisfied.
By the end of the meal - we were planning our next visit.

Don’t let appearances fool you—the decor may be humble, and the location is definitely out of the way, but the food and staff are fantastic, and it all comes together to make you forget you drove allllll the way to find them.

When you leave, you’ll be happy to know this hidden gem is for those in the “know”.
Finally, the Bavaria German Restaurant is perfect for small groups or a casual date night.

The food, staff, as well as the atmosphere.simply amazing! The prime rib is scrumptious! Most certainly one of top three favorite restaurants in Abbotsford.

Everything was really great with the vegetarian schnitzel but the menu should maybe more clearly mention what it comes with and add more fresh salad with it since there is fried food here and vegetarians purpose is usually for the best health. Bavaria exceeded my expectations very well though

Amazing service, food, and atmosphere. The food presentation and quality was excellent from the appetizers through to the main course and the desert. Menu is great with a substantive amount of possible choices.

We were here several years ago and our impression was that at that time the restaurant was average. It is amazing what a fresh facelift, a new menu, and what appears to be a very good crew of happy staff can do to seperate you from all the rest.

My friends and I came for dinner here and really loved it. The waitress was super friendly and checked on us often even though they were really busy on a Saturday night! The food was amazing. Huge plates of carefully placed food. We decided to have dessert and the plates were nicely decorated with designs of chocolate. I was very impressed!

Very good food. I had the prime rib it was very good and a big amount As for my other half she the same, She also had a bleellime it was very yummy. The staff are very friendly and joke around with one another keep eveything in sync resulting in great communication which transforms in to great service.

The food was good. Portion size was small thou for what you are paying.but good flavour. Only a few of the servers were actually pleasant. Others were more like drones.

In my opinion, the best place in town for a nice or special occasion dinner. Everytime we've been there the service and been fantastic and the food has been cooked perfectly. Forget The Keg, this is where you need to go for a great steak.

Excellent hidden gem. Not on a main street. All old wood. This is not a new place but the service and food quality is why they are still in business. Had the sausage and schnitzel. Excellent. Came out hot with fantastic spaetzle and red cabbage. The best spaetzle I have had in a long time. Very flavorful.
And they have warsteiner in tap.
Very comfortable atmosphere. I recommend it.
