BCLIQUOR Northgate

Was denied sale (despite buying in this store over 20 times) as I only had my NY state ID on me and don’t carry my passport when out and about. They had never asked me for a second id even in the entire past year. So I was a bit shocked and alarmed when they then told me to leave the store while my girlfriend purchased our order.

Look I understand if that is the law but That is wrong! Children come in there and are allowed to be with their parents they don’t get kicked out of the damn store to sit on the sidewalk in the cold and rain. That is very rude for supposedly pleasant Canadians.

Do better BC liquor store staff. Acknowledge that im from another country and tell me I can use another card like credit or debit card. Don’t kick me out of the store what is wrong with you people? Or was it flat anti American sentiment? Or racism as I was with my Asian girlfriend?

Also, British Columbia I mean really? Meth and heroin + fentanyl are completely legal now and the drinking age is a measly 19…. But two forms of government ID are required for alcohol purchase? Great job.

The staff at the cash register are rude, (Asian woman, Latina, one in the lgbtqia2s+) mean, and unprofessional. We all get a bad day, never will I treat my customers the way I was treated.

So when I got to the check out I showed the cashier my passport and he asked if I had another Canadian government issued ID. I said no because I literally just got here 3 weeks ago and then he proceeds to yell to the whole store that he can’t serve me because of BC law. I try to explain that I haven’t receive my pr card yet because it takes months to arrive and I have the record of landing but I can’t just be walking around with that. But then suddenly he changes the speech to be “anything with my name on it”. A credit card a membership card anything! I mean of course I have a card, so I gave him my credit card and suddenly everything was fine. Why the heck didn’t he just ask for a card in the begging? He told me it had to be another government id. Anyway, I felt totally humiliated and now I’m just buying my alcohol somewhere else.

Love these guys.they got cynar back for the couple customers who wanted it.always friendly and helpful.

Pacific Western Brewing is a Canadian based company that has recently released some new products. Wave is one, when asked for at this location, the response was rather ignorant of the product, as well as an insistence that the store carries numerous Canadian based products, but actually slacks off when it counts. I believe that all Canadian producers should be given priority over all others. Why can I find this product in the Interior at present and not in the Lower Mainland? Stay on top of the recent Canadian releases people, I really do not need to hear that you carry a lot of Canadian products when I do not see them all.

Margarit was amazing. I asked her to look in the back for an item that was not on the shelf. She found some for me and when I lined up I realized she was actually leaving and had already finished her shift before she helped me. GREAT customer service!

Good selection tailored to the local community. It's well setup and positioned with lots of additional shopping near by.

Parking limited, however it is right out front.

This is why I stick to my usual liquor store who knows me on a first name basis. Did some grocery shopping close by and decided to stop by this location to buy liquor. The lady wouldn’t sell it to me and told me to go home and grab my ID when I told her I had forgot my wallet (was paying by Apple Pay). I’m closer to 50 than I am to 18. She’s lucky I needed it for a Christmas party and the liquor store near me was closed. What a waste of my gas.
