A Must-See landmark institution in Victoria. 61 years and food and treats that are just as good as ever!

The prices recently went up a lot and it seems the quality of the burgers got worse. Fries and ice cream are good, shakes could be thicker.

This place gets a ton of hype for, and I’m not entirely sure why. I love me a good drive through-like experience as much as they next person AND for the quality of food for the price, Im always left disappointed.

But I’ll let you decide! Here’s my most recent experience:

- $5.25 - 9 regular (nothing special) onion rings.for what is equivalent to less than half an onion with some batter on it.
- $6.50 - a hot fudge sundae. I would have rather had a sundae from Costco for 1/3 the price, better ice cream and MUCH better hot fudge.
- $4.35 - a corndog.nothing special. Likely a Pogo out of a box.
- A lot of what I would expect with "take away" was missing including napkins and ketchup.

The parking lot is a bit of a gongshow and there isn't enough space for folks to wait when it's as busy as it is during the summer. I think it's mostly busy with tourists - I heard one guy say his tour gruide raves about this place. Maybe these reviews are so high because the folks that come have the vacation glasses on? Maybe my eyes are broken.

Places I would rather spend $20 for a meal: Boomtown, ThunderBird Chicken, Foo, Red Fish Blue Fish, Big Wheel.

Update: I would like to say that I finished my meal. I would also like to say that I wasn't ill after eating my meal. But.well, I can say neither of those things. Regrets. So many regrets.

Ordered a big expensive order of food. Prices have skyrocketed here. While collecting my food I asked for a dollop of ice cream in a little ketchup cup for my 2lb dog. She basically told me to buy an ice cream cone or get lost. Fantastic service!

Then was forced to drive home with my to-go poutine on a tray spilling gravy on my lap because I guess they don't believe in boxes.

Then had the pleasure of discovering my "deluxe cheese burger" came with half a slice of cheese. Like they literally tore a full piece in half.

Food was just bad. My partner who lives for burgers wouldn't finish his. I ended up with the runs! Want my money back

Great spot to come and get food or an ice cream cone. Staff is friendly and efficient. Prices are decent and the food was good.

Not the greatest food you'll ever have but its cheap and its fast and it has a great location.

Greasy fish made me sick to my stomach. Dirty grease? That and bad parking. Sad after decades of good. Needs an overhaul it seems.

Turkey sandwich is a no-go for anyone trying this place: bread - plain, tomatoes - not found, mayo - excessive. Also the turkey looked weird and tasted weirder. Would rather have about anything else than this. The coffee refill was very misleading because you're allowed to only refill once? Shame that this place is located in such a beautiful park, what a waste. Overall very disappointing experience.

We dine here every time we are in Victoria and absolutely love it! Easy & safe ordering, outside seating for sunny days and a party of 3 can eat for under $30. Will continue to stop here for lunch any chance we get.

Tiny frozen beef patty. 2 burgers, small fries, and a small shake $17.00 and that's with a coupon for a free burger.
Save your $$ and go to Big wheel for fresh big patty.

"Those fries were delish" exclaimed my 8 year old. And i agreed. They were delish. Yes, all we made was an impromptu purchase of fries this time, but other times have had ice cream and always enjoyed it. Saw their breakfast items on their menu and would love to try them some time. Staff was very friendly. Definitely recommended.

We went for fish and chips. Great location. Somewhat awkward ordering and food pickup arrangements. Comfortable outdoor patio. Unique and tasty french fries with interesting texture.

Pretty good. Had burgers and fries for the kiddies. Not out of control but it was fun and reasonable.

Great spot one of my favourite spots to stop when I’m in town.
Great atmosphere and nice seating and awesome food.
Great to hang with a few friend’s grab a burger and a milkshake and just hangout.
Also bonus points for butter run flavoured milkshakes.

Not bad, but is also overrated. The food is decent, though the selection is limited and wait time can be long during peak hours.

I've ate alot of take out.this place was exceptional. $21.50 all tax in, hands down the best value and take out I've had across Canada. Awesome fish and chip, prawn take out. We even got leftovers for tomorrow. Were definitely going back to the Beacon Drive In Restaurant ️

A great experience and my go-to for late night (imo, anytime after 8 pm) ice cream and diner food! I'd recommend a dipped cone; the chocolate is thick and the ice cream is so creamy and smooth.

The staff are excellent and provide fast service. Even better - there's outdoor window service, you can bring a dog and not have to worry about tying them up out on the sidewalk.

A short walk to Dallas Road and Mile Zero, if you want to take a stroll while enjoying your ice cream.

The BEST ice cream also really love the hot dogs and fries. Close to the park and beach if you want to bring a snack to a place with a view!

It is a place where you feel like a kid waiting for your ice cream in Sunday afternoon. The food delicious and the ice cream awesome. I like that place.

The breakfast and twisted ice cream were both awesome! We will come back when visiting Victoria again.

I've come here a lot and I've always been impressed by the very friendly customer service mostly from their teenaged staff. Ice cream is pretty good and quickly prepared. But the manager is a horrible person who constantly mistreats her employees and verbally abuses them IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. This place needs new management!

Unhygienic- no food safe - just got out of the Beacon Hill drive in. And used to love their fried clams which are gone now. But what I was most surprised today when my husband ordered a milkshake and I ordered a diet pop we were handed the drinks without the people wearing gloves handling the straw near the top where you drink from without gloves.put the straws in without wearing any gloves and I thought that their hygiene at the place was not appropriate for covid and no one inside seem to be wearing gloves even handling the food.

I recently moved back to Victoria after being away for quite a few years. I had fond memories of the delicious soft serve at Beacon Drive In, so I took my wife and kids there one day so they could try the "best soft serve ice cream I have ever had". We decided to get dipped cones and let me tell you, it definitely ain't what it used to be. The only way I can describe the chocolate is greasy. It left us with a film on the insides of our mouths. My wife and I threw away the chocolate and just had the ice cream. But even that was just kind of tasteless and not at all like I remember. Overall a gross experience, not worth the calories.

Good value for money. Short wait, shorter drive from James Bay Inn. Nice location next to Beacon Hill Park and a short walk to the water front.

Got my order wrong, but those who did get icecream enjoyed the variety of flavours. They should offer a kids size however as even the small is too big for 4 & 6 year olds.

Delicious place to grab screamers and head to the beach. But beware, this screamer gave me the worst brain freeze I have ever experienced. DRINK AT YOUR OWN RISK

After trying one of the “gourmet” burger places in town and being beyond underwhelmed I came across this joint. I wasn’t even two bites in when I started texting friends about this gem. The burger was perfect. Even better, the fries were crispy and light. And the soft serve? Outstanding. I’m thankful I’ll be in town for a few more weeks. There’s some repeat visits in my future.

Burgers are classic and amaze. The soft serve flavour swirly is almost as sweet as your mother's blueberry pie.

One or favourite treats, is going beacon drive in for a chocolate dip ice cream cone.
They have the best ice cream I have ever tasted. I have been going there since a child in the 1960’s

Love the icecream! Definitely recommend that. Service is friendly. Great place to stop by for some snacks or lunch.

I’m not a fan of soft serve ice cream so that’s not my bag here. I live in James Bay, though, and happy accident means I’ve discovered that their burgers, hot dogs, poutine, fries, and breakfast sandwiches are all top-notch fast food. Nothing fancy or gourmet here, but it’s all yum.

And well-priced too. About $5 for the breakfast sammy and $11.50 for the super-filling double bacon cheese and fries with small drink. (Go hungry before attempting that!)

Really glad that living in James Bay means I realized how good an old-school fast-food joint this is. I’ve been visiting them every 2-4 weeks in the pandemic, and enjoying my meal in Beacon Hill Park or on Dallas Road. I’m glad to support such an institution.

One of my favorites! Breakfast of Bacon, Egg & Cheese on an English Muffin this morning with a Hot Mocha to drink. Outside tables were clean & patio was heated. Social distancing, Covid protocols followed.

STAY AWAY, $4 for a cone smaller than mcdonalds that taists actually worse than mcdonalds. Should be 99 cents for a small cone of this quality, i think this place is under new ownership.

Quality is still good but the quantity has decreased. I ordered a regular avalanche and the cup was maybe 2/3 full. Rip off for $7

Been going here since I was a kid. Lots of great memories walking through beacon hill and having lunch or icecream. Great to bring a date or kids. Hope they continue to serve food here and give others great memories like I have of this place. Food is decent quality and icecream is okay. I go more for the experience and location by beautiful Beacon Hill park

Just wanted a coffee after a few laps of the Breakwater. I was pleasantly surprised, their coffee was great. I'll remember for next time

Great burgers and fries, good place after lunch for a walk across the street, Beacon Hill Park.

I had the COVID Blues and was craving a soft ice cream cone. The best ice cream! No really the Best! And it solved my problem and made me feel soon þuch better. It was a rainy icky day and not very busy, but a steady flow of people coming and going, some real troopers on the covered patio, they had the heaters on.

Amazing to find a place with such great fish and chips which is also reasonably priced! The staff are really nice too. Please support this landmark, people!

Solid diner with food that never goes out of style or fashion. Their ice cream cones are legendary. Perfect place to have a weekend treat no matter what time of the year.

Inside seating very limited d/t covid rules, there were 6 of us so too many to eat inside. We left.

Great place to grab a snack or treat before or after a walk through the park or along the beach.

At first I was taken aback by their soft serve ice cream - it was different from what I have encountered elsewhere. It's nice and smooth and firm. And there is a reason for this difference - it's actually made from milk. Not edible oil products - milk. Weird really. But weird in a good way. I get a small chocolate sundae whenever I go by.

This is an old time local drive in ice cream stand that has been in the same place for years. They only serve soft ice cream, but it is rich and creamy - much better than what is served at franchise places. In addition to your standard ice cream dishes they have burgers and other classic drive in fare, plus coffee and breakfast dishes.

We had sundaes, which we quite enjoyed. I'm looking forward to returning for a hot breakfast when the weather is cooler.
