I visited in early November around 5: 30 pm. As darkness fell due to winter, the park became eerie with no lighting. I returned the next morning for exploration, but navigation was challenging, contrary to my expectation of a well-kept environment.
I always love this park; from going to the top of Beacon Hill to lookout over the water to Port Angeles. Or to walk through a beautiful park with Peacocks wandering around. This park will take your breath away. I would highly recommend.
This park is so cute. There are flocks of ducks, peacocks, and squirrels that are not afraid of people. They are very friendly and will come over to ask for food. Maybe you are used to eating when you see people. It would be so comfortable to go for a walk in sunny weather. La
Wonderful park! Can’t wait to visit again. Caution: some people don’t have their dogs on a leash despite the rules. One unleashed dog ran up to our leashed dog and startled our rescue dog, and both dogs barked loudly at each other like they were starting to fight. The owner was about 20 yards away during all this. I am sure their dog is good 99% of the time, but our rescue unfortunately is not and brushes with aggressive unleashed dogs doesn’t help. Not cool. Best of luck!
Just winding down from a movie date and the park was the perfect place to do that. Taking a hike, stroll or meander was easy to do. Everything was so close, but it felt like I was far away in a wonderful, hot paradise.
Loved the park! Great plants, and the trees are beautiful. We enjoyed the water fowl, Herons, turtle ponds and the kids petty zoo. Thanks for asking about our time.
Great park near downtown Victoria. Free parking up to 3.5 hours if you visit the park. You can view the largest totem pole or stroll along the beach. Public washrooms available at multiple locations.
A good park for spotting stranded ocean freighters, an all-male squad of peacocks, seniors banging in the bushes, seaweed nipping at your toes, dogs climbing dogs to get to dogs, mile zero of Canada's Only Road and totem poles almost as tall as the soft serve cones.
I take my infant son here for walks (light rain or shine) often. I could walk here for hours just admiring the different plants, trees, ponds and not mention the ducks squirrels and peacocks that seem that call the garden home. Just a stones throw away from Cook St Village (if you work up an appetite and want to try some local eats) and Dallas road if you want to breathe in some ocean air with a view. If you're out here, be sure to walk or drive down to the Ogden Point Breakwater for some magnificent up close and personal views of the water and lighthouse. It's breathtaking.
Absolutely amazing! Just go, there is many benches to sit down and enjoy the view, everything looks so clean and very well maintained, regardless of winter is a most!
Absolutely the best park downtown Victoria. Great trails, very nice, spacious landscapes. Wonderful water features/ ponds and lots of trees! You may see wild rare birds such as peacocks and eagles. The petting Zoo (animal zoo) is also very cool! They have baby goats definitely go to beacon-hill park.
This place is beautiful and it's always nice to walk amongst the peacocks. Sadly, city planners have once again failed to consider that not everyone in this city can get around on a bicycle - I'm not biking from north Saanich to spend 30 minutes in my favourite park. For reasons unknown to me, cars can no longer enter through Quadra, cutting off one of the most useful parking lots. It's been this way for over a year now so I doubt they plan on reversing it. This mirrors the general thought pattern I see in Victoria: always assuming that everyone who lives in "Victoria" lives close enough to bike everywhere, even in the winter I guess. I have always loved this city, but considering the cost of living here and the city planners who are trying as hard as possible to remove cars and have not built any sort of light rail system to replace them, I don't plan on ever moving back here.
An absolutely amazing little oasis of beautiful scenery and local wildlife. The natural gardens are well kept by the local garden society. A place you and your family could spend the entire day exploring or just picnicking. Be sure to check this park out in your next visit.
There were so many homeless camps, it made us feel horrible. I couldn't walk or turn down a single path without seeing socially encouraged desperation needles on the ground and public urination. The grounds were in grate shape though the city workers are top quality the birds were lovely and we even got to see wild peacocks.
Nice and beautiful park for a picnic with friends and family. Good for walks and first dates:). Lots and lots of spots to hang out. There’s a public washroom as well.
Gorgeous park, just the right size for a leisurely stroll. An absolute stop when visiting Victoria. Do your date a favour and pop over for a short walk and talk!
Large, picturesque and near the ocean. Tourists really need to take it in. There has been some social engineering by city hall to wreck the experience by making parking and driving harder to accomplish. It's been turned into a social experiment by municipal politicians who use it to store hard-to-house people rather than offer them shelter and social aid.
It was nice and peaceful, even though it had several tent's in it for us less fortunates, as well as many homes on wheels, me and my hubby set up shop in our RV for a few weeks.very relaxing and quiet!
Beacon hill is a great place with many areas to explore. From the turtle pond, moss lady, petting zoo, there’s something for everyone. Quick walk to Dallas road and the ocean. Don’t forget to stop by BEACON HILL DRIVE IN for an ice cream
Park is a great place for all to visit and see! Lots of nature. Playground and pet farm are destinations spots. I'd like to to see it in the dark sometime and see how well lit it is for a romantic walk.
What there not to love about this park. It's the full package! Petting zoo, play park, beautiful gardens and music in the band shelter. To boot it's close to the beach!
What's not to liker about Beacon Hill park? !? It's the "central park" of Victoria but without the crime ;). Lots to do and it's very well maintained year round. The petting zoo is fantastic and I highly suggest the running of the goats if you can be there for it. Great place to walk with your family.
This is a must go to park if you have children or if you just want to go for a nice walk. The park is huge and has so much variety. Located right on the Ocean, you can walk along the path and look across to the mainland Mountains on a clear day. If you walk closer to the centre of the park there is a free kids zoo with lots of animals, open in the spring and summer. All year round there are peacocks walking around the park and hiding in the trees. There is free parking along the West side of the park for 3 hours.
A bit pricy for the limited selection available. However, the merchandise they do have is good quality. They still have good old-fashioned personal service which might be worth the higher prices.
Absolutely beautiful park located in the heart of downtown. There is so much wildlife and beautiful greenery in Beacon Hill Park. It’s a beautiful place for a picnic or a walk and there are a lot of unique little attractions and opportunity for stunning photos throughout.
Our version of Central Park. A beautifully serene destination full of exotic and native birds, ducks, turtles etc. A must see for anyone visiting the city/Island!
This is a beautiful urban park with manicured beds, rose garden, bandstand, lakes, petting zoo and playgrounds. There are no retailers within the park but ocean views from the top of the hill and a splash water feature for children. Parking is a little limited but it is pedestrian oriented and bile friendly. Well worth a visit.
Walk among peacocks, attempt to find the many Blue Heron nests hidden high in the trees. Play park for kids, cricket field, soccer field and many easy trails to walk and contemplate the state of the world.
Great place to spend the day, you can just go for a walk, see the petting zoo, practice putting on the tiny green, see a movie or concert at the bandstand, see or play cricket, let the kids go to the water park or the playground, have a picnic and you can even geocache! By the way, Hot House Pizza on Cook st will deliver to you at the park as long as you are at a known and accessible area, like the bandstand or playground. We were at the park's bandstand for an outdoor movie and The awesome staff at Hot House Pizza delivered right to us, talk about an awesome service (and awesome pizza!)
Relaxing place to spend an afternoon, and the people you pass really add to the positive feeling. City parks like this add such a positive impact to city life.
Amazing place to play Pokemon Go and Ingress. Lots going on here fit geocaching too. The grounds are lovely, and the playgrounds are great for the kids.
They have a petting zoo, and access to the ocean, as well as ponds, running, cycling, cricket. Great for just walking with your sweetheart too.
We love this place. It's a huge park with a lot to see and a lot of places where you can escape from the world and meditate yourself to enlightenment, if that's your thing.
Did I mention there are also wild Peacocks roaming about?
There's a little something for the entire family here and we recommend it.
