When we arrived the server just pointed to our left and said "in there". We got our coffees and orders taken quickly, food came reasonably fast but after that we never saw our server. She didn't check how our meals were or if we wanted more coffee. All we heard after we got our meals was an awful lot of noise from the kitchen. The omelet I ordered was great but 2 others at my table weren't happy with their meals.
The service was excellent! The waitress was very friendly even the manager was out saying hi to people. The place was covered in old pictures of Penticton which the manager was happy to give me backstory on, which was pretty cool. The food was good and affordable ($15 per dish), I enjoyed the eggs benedict and the huevos rancheros. Ill definitely go back next time I'm in town!
What an absolutely wonderful dining experience! The new owner has done an amazing job updating the menu and the inside of the restaurant. The service was impeccable, the energy of the atmosphere was great and we had the nicest waiter. All the staff were incredibly kind, courteous and accommodating. Food was phenomenal! 100% best breakfast in Penticton! I highly recommend:)
Tucked in amid the emerging hotel district by the Trade and Convention Centre, this is a great spot for breakfast and lunch comfort food. No frills, just great cooking.
Fresh made burger and fries, and the house cabbage borscht were outstanding. Service was prompt even though the restaurant was quite busy. Prices are significantly below current market, an added bonus.
It's easy to miss the entrance, and parking out front is limited; there's lots more around the back. Pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed.
We had the eggs Benedict and honesty, it was fantastic! Look at the colour of these yolks! Prices are good, the food is amazing, staff was kind. Enjoyed our breakfast for sure. Highly recommended
Pros: Good service Decent food Cons: No tap Too many house flies flying around the dining room area.gross. Will not go back. (Wanted to leave but the rest of my party were tired and hungry and were tired of driving around trying to find a place to eat).
Awesome staff, great food, really reasonable prices! We will definitely be back. Thanks for helping us celebrate our daughters 10th birthday with a delicious breakfast
After biking around to a bunch of different spots with long waits we stumbled upon Bears Den. Incredibly friendly service, delicious and hearty brunch and a really humble and fun atmosphere. No frills, just the essentials. It was so great we came back the next morning! Fabulous little find!
Amazing experience at The Bears Den. We were seated immediately with great service. Price was very reasonable and the food was delicious. Highly recommend
Watched people who came in behind us get seated first, ordered our food and they forgot to make when we asked after 45 minutes. Waited another 30 minutes with empty glasses on our table and never once got asked if we wanted more. Never waited so long for a simple dish of just eggs pancakes and bacon.
Honestly the ommlette i had tasted like water the ham and mushrooms surrounded by a thin layet of egg and a pinch of cheese was underwhelming.really sad considering multiple awards on walls.
A greasy spoon with not too greasy delights! I haven't been to restaurants for a while. This was a real treat as I came into town for some items. Big perks all around. They don't charge for gluten free French toast, the prices are so good for this time in the world, it's packed so that shows people like it and it was Sparkling clean all around. Can't say that about Denny's! I was happy writing here for an hour. Thank you!
The service/food is very good but the noise is discouraging. I would like to see some acoustic panels to absorb the the ricochet of co stand chatter. I was eating g there and had to speak louder to be heard which ads to the overall audio distraction.
First time at this place offering itself as "best breakfast in Penticton" so I went out of my way to try it. One very attentive waitress (not mine) who seated me vs a very disinterested one (mine) who got my order wrong and dropped the bill on the table as she walked by without a word not to be seen again. The meal was average at best. Can't recommend this place.
Solid value. Forget about avacado toast! I went here for a traditional breakfast. Food was cooked exactly as orderd. Support a family business. Go try this place.
I’d give this place a pass. Ordered the Grizzly asked for the steak medium rare and it came over well done. The other plates were also plain. Walk across the street to Denny’s
I went here to order takeout and was ignored while they sat other people who came in after me.didn't feel welcome. The food was not good value for what you get.maybe dining in is different. Wouldnt try again or recommend.
We recently moved to the area and saw the sign for "voted Pentictons best breakfast" decided to give it a try. My husband and I had the eggs benedict, his with ham, mine with avocado. The English muffin was so hard we couldn't cut through, my avocado was more black than green. We asked for a side of fries that were cold and over fried, like how? It was like a baby's handful of fries. The portions are small, we left still hungry. Orange juice was warm, asked for ice and the ice came in a dirty glass. Not once did anyone come to ask how the food was, nor did anyone fill my coffee cup! Please tell me that penticton has a better breakfast than this!? !? ! Some reviews say that it used to be good I see, what happened?
Just had breakfast at the Bears Den. Service was pleasant, okay clean, food was mediocre. As for coffee, weak and not to my taste which is subjective but will say that a staff member/ manager stopped to eat at a table accross from us and was drinking a Tim's.
They are lucky there was no option for no stars. Food was cold, toast wasn't toasted, forgot to give ketchup and no syrup. Called back and instead of trying to fix the problem they offered to give me syrup if I come back and pick it up. I understand mistakes happen, but try and FIX them!
My wife and I liked this restaurant for breakfast. They seemed to be short staffed every time we went but the servers were very happy and efficient. I liked the bear breakfast so I ordered it every time. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, the square potatoes nice and tasty and the eggs over easy and great. My wife varied her selections but was always happy with her meals. I recommend this restaurant over a few others around we visited. Give Bears Den Restaurant a try you will like it.
Service was slow. I get that they were busy. However, when you are standing in the entrance way and not being given an idea of when you are to be seated was a little odd. Food was average at best, wife had vegetarian eggs Benedict.the avocado had definitely seen better days. Had been years ago and it was good.butnwould probably pass moving forward.
Great breakfast at a reasonable price. Staff were working hard to get people seated and food on the table. Prices are reasonable compared to other spots in the area. Good hollandaise! They accommodated my picky wife
Little breakfast place, very cozy vibe and food was delicious. Paid about $30 for 2 meals & did not wait very long at all for food or service in general. Would recommend.
Good food. Mildly rude service- not terrible. Enough to make you consider 10 vs 15%. But it would have felt a lot better if staff wore masks like other restaurants. No real distance maintained as they deliver your food without a mask. This should be mandatory in food service (just during global pandemics)
We went here for breakfast. The food was delicious, but the service was pretty slow. We were at the restaurant for almost 2 hours from arrival to departure and we didn't "stay and chat". Mostly we were waiting. Waiting to be seated, waiting for our order to be taken, waiting for food, waiting for our bill and waiting to pay.
Service was surly and perfunctory, decor was laughable (bare white walls and old carpet), and food was passable when you eventually got condiments to doctor it up with. With Denny's basically right across the street, would have thought they'd put a little more effort into the service to make a person want to come back. We were wrong. Won't be back.
Breakfast was delicious! Loved the hashbrowns! And what a wonderful surprise, a lady left just before me had paid for our breakfast! Thank you kind stranger! Yes I will pay it forward!
Omg. I love this place. Eggs Benny with potato patties, and the beef dip are insane good. As are A lot of other things on the menu. Sweet little old school breakfast place, voted best breakfast many years in a row. Awesome staff. Waffles are so good with the seasonal fruits. Only open until 3. I think? Parking out back.
Excellent breakfast and quick service. We don't eat pork products, but they were happy to serve us a beef party in place of the usual pork sausage/baccon/etc.
We've had breakfast here. The food was good and reasonably priced, average waiting time. The reason I wanted to write a review was their attention to kids menu. While we were waiting for our order they brought a few plates with sliced in the shape of animals fruits - that was nice.
I hosted a group dinner for 35 at the Bear's Den in July 2019 and we had a blast! Owner John and his staff (our waitress was Randy) were so accommodating for our group. Our orders were correct, the food was hot and delicious, and the service was really outstanding. Every order that came out looked appetizing. We had the decadent Mac & Cheese and Thai Salad - both yummy. And the Sticky Toffee Pudding is to die for! We left full and happy. I highly recommend the Bear's Den!
Food was good. But service was not good. The place was dirt for not being busy the staff was hiding in a corner playing or checking things on there phone. It felt like we were more of a in convenience to them.we were there 11am to 11: 45.
The worst service and food I have ever had in my life.
Food took 50 minutes. Every single order in our party of four was wrong. After we let the staff know of the issues they made no effort to correct them. Left most of our meals on our plates and got stuck with a hefty bill for terrible food. Never go here.
This place is great for a reasonably priced and fairly quick meal. Portions are generous. Ambience is casual with some cosy booths as well as standard tables and chairs. Really quite good food and fast, friendly service. Their Russian style borscht is legendary. Food is ample an unpretentious. Not the place for a romantic meal or special occasion in my own opinion, but a great place for everyday, country-style home-cooked style meals.
I've come here twice now, and I'm always pleased beyond belief with the food, service and atmosphere! I live down in Vancouver and get Eggs Benedict frequently but this place tops all of the eggs benny I've ever had. Would definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area.
