Most disorganized YMCA I've ever experienced. Shame as it had so much potential but staff need serious training and such a high turnover in management - I guess what do you expect? It took a year almost to fix the pool temp! But Yeh they take your money! It was actually under the recommended temp for babies and toddlers yet they charged us to to freeze our children. Poorly designed family changing rooms, the wind just blows through and will probably give your toddler pneumonia if the pool is broken again. The only reason I give any star at all is because of the childminding ladies who are lovely. I'll be cancelling my membership unfortunately as after a year it's still horribly managed. Oh and top tip - the schedule online is probably wrong! And if you call you will get someone who doesn't know the schedule and Yeh wasted trip basically. Don't bother with membership here! Plus you have to pay extra for swim lessons, where all they do is sing in the water. Oh and extra for childminding.

Nice and clean locker rooms and pool. But hot tub could be warmer. Still, brilliant place to go to get fit and do some recreation.

The cost of membership is extremely high compared to other community centres in the area. The pool is VERY disappointing. Only 2 swim lanes that are available most of the days (fast or slow). It's very small in comparison to other community centres. Newer condo developments probably have better swimming facilities. There is no hot tub, it is a whirlpool.

Class offerings and scheduling is horrible. Barely anything after 5pm or weekends and it is filled up almost immediately as soon as registration opens. I had signed up for 2 classes in the past 2 weeks and both programs have been cancelled in it's entirety. If you want to get into a class, you have to book right when registration opens via the app.

There's a wide variety of yoga classes. I haven't been able to find this worth the money. And is considering to cancel my membership.

There's only one studio room so they can't have multiple studio classes at the same time. The exercise equipment is nice and new but it gets full and busy after work hours. The way the excercise space is designed is just odd and feels squished.

The gymnasium is the size of a full basketball court but they put 6 hoops around so smaller games/groups can be accommodated. But, if the activity needs the entire gymnasium like an indoor volleyball court, the space can't be shared and only one activity can happen in that space. It can probably fit 3 badminton courts there.

Third floor are all just meeting/flex spaces, not meant for studio work outs.

They are clearly not ready to operate and staff aren't really trained. Group class schedules are a mixed bag and the quality of the instructors can be a hit or a miss. Staff there seems to just chat away in a group or on their phones most of the time.

I wish they had better planning on the building and community offerings based on the amount of people they would expect to service in the area. It's expected this area to increase density with a lot more people in the next 10 years. Seems like there's not much future proofing or planning was taken into consideration. I would not be surprised if a gym or yoga studio opened within the vicinity and takes people away from the YMCA.

They could have opted to not have the swimming pool as there are multiple larger swimming facilities in Coquitlam and Burnaby nearby.

Underwhelming. Pool is never the same temperature every time I go in. Often far too cold for the kids. Complained and they said there was an issue with the heating hardware, but obviously not something worth mentioning to members before they enter the pool:/

Too many bikes (which almost never get used), too many things packed into such a small space that I often worry about bumping into someone else while working out (especially during peak hours when it gets pretty crowded)

This morning I was at the facility it's a great place to Achieve your fitness goals and the environment is extremely family oriented but one thing that really put me off Was away a phone call was handled by a lady named Anna in front of me of a customer waiting on hold for 15 minutes no one at the front desk other than a lady named Anna who then picked up the phone and told her that they were too busy and that someone will contact them Back.customer service was very poor

If you have such a strict no show policy, then make sure you allocate staff to check class attendance. Was on a Zumba class yesterday where no one checked attendance. And today I received a no-show warning for that class. And now it's on me to deal with support to resolve and rescind no show. I don't think it should be on a custom to resolve the situation created by a facility.

The staff here never clean any of the equipment at the gym! They sit around, chat each other up, and that’s it. Compare this with Poirier where the weight room attendants always walk around and spray down/wipe the machines throughout the day multiple times. Does ymca not care that they’re paying their staff to do pretty much nothing? Might as well just hire volunteers then and spend the money from saved wages towards a better facility.

Was so excited for the opening and starting to work out in a new place. Super disappointed 6 weeks later! Cancelling my membership. No hot tub, classes are run by inexperienced instructors, limited parking, classes are virtually impossible to get into unless you are able to wake up at 6am everyday to register and the list goes on.

Nice bran new fancy facility. Decent membership price. Not sure it's quite what we are looking for as a family though.

Nice classes and facilities but awful planning - as many members here said what's the point in promising us priority swim lessons then never giving us the chance? ! Ready to quit to be honest - like a wild goose chase trying to talk to someone! I recommend the Poirier Rec centre - just a shame I live closer to the Y! - edited to say fantastic phone customer service at the main headquarters)

No hot tub in the Plus locker room. They’re charging double for just a steam room? (Edit: the steam room is never open). Don’t think many people will see the value in that.

Also, if you signed up at another location you need a completely different card to enter the Plus here. Very poorly planned, but the actual workout area is nice.

The staffs are nice. But it’s better to rearrange the equipment area.

Too many treadmills or bikes, but no spaces for weight lifting

Membership is too high. Not worth to spend money there

Great family time at the gym. Awesome customer service and the gym is fun and friendly worth every penny for a membership

Pool is not warm enough during the winter season, my kids go there for swimming lesson and always say is cold and got sick later. Everyone else felt the same thing, better fix it or else you will be losing my membership.

Great clean facilities and change rooms. Wish there was a straight chin up bar in the squat cage area and wish they kept the water in the pool warmer.

This place has become our families second home. The staff are friendly and helpful. The kids playtime and indoor playground is fantastic and it’s nice to see familiar faces there.
I’m looking forward to more fitness classes, family playtime and swim lessons to come!

This Bettie Allard YMCA ripped me off during the Jan 15 promo rates. I was trying to reach their customer service to clarify the membership but couldn't reach anyone. I emailed but they didn't reply. When I finally spoke to them and complained, Sofya emailed me and promised a refund but until now I have not received a refund. She lied. They are not doing business in good faith.

Been multiple times tried to enjoy it. It SUCKS. No hot tub. Only a “warm tub” that isn’t even warm you literally have goose bumps when you go in. The shape of the gym is annoying no open spaces for free weights or stretching. If you enjoy the steam room don’t count on it. It worked once the whole time I’ve been going and it smells like moldy socks when it was on. Don’t waste your money on their over priced membership. The Coquitlam aquatic center or poirier rec centre are 100 times better. Huge anticipation for an even bigger let down. Not worth it.

Love the layout and use of natural light. Equiptment is new and well spaced, something for all abilities. Very inclusive, welcoming environment, friendly staff. Love working out here!

Very expensive bi-weekly rate for what you get. Hard to get a spot for swimming lessons for kids too. It books up super fast. The gymnasium is crowded on the weekend. Even during the weekdays when it’s supposed to be gym programs for 6-12 year olds, there are teens and adults occupying the gym like they are entitled to use it regardless of the program happening at the time. It’s intimidating for young kids to play when older teens and adults are occupying the same space. It’s not a well run facility for what you’re paying (which are luxury gym prices). Staff are nice, but too nice to police the gym.

The registration of the swimming classes are a nightmare, I waste all my morning trying to register my kid

Went for an hour pool swimming. Fantastic time. Many pretty girls inside the pool, started flirting with one of them. Next month getting married.

I agree with most of the reviews here. The whole centre has some poor planning issues. Pool is small and the “hot tub” is very disappointing. It would be nice to think that after your workout you could soak in the tub but it is freezing. A poor design choice because the excess water flows into the common pool.

Staff seem like they need better training as I’ve had various levels of customer service on multiple occasions.

The gym has new equipment which is nice but there needs to be more floor to ceiling mirrors. Many activities and machines you have to stare at yourself in the reflection of the window to check your form.

I have not gotten a chance to take a class because they fill up so fast and you cannot book more than a week in advance. I most likely won’t be keeping my membership once they increase rates because overall, it’s not a good value.
