We were so pleased with our experience. Every summer we take visiting family on whale watching tours. This was our first time using Big Animal Encounters. We were absolutely delighted with the level of skill & attention to detail demonstrated.
A very smooth process from beginning to end. Our Pilot/Captain Shannon was phenomenal! She was so knowledgeable and equally as personable. We saw fantastic sea life as well as learned so much!

Thank you for a magnificent experience. Already looking forward to next year’s tour.

On Sunday 2 July 2023, I booked a 12-person boat out of Campbell River for a four-hour whale watching trip. A number of my guests were from The Netherlands.
It was a fabulous afternoon. Our Guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the boat was clean and comfortable. He gave us a scenic tour of Quadra Island - nesting eagles, curious seals - plus several whales in the Sutil Channel on the other side of Quadra and towards Mitlenatch Island.
It was a bucket list item and Big Animal Encounters showed us a great time and left us with lasting memories. I do not hesitate to recommend this activity!

Bill and Shannon showed us Wahle, killer Wahle, seals, bald eagles, and many other great animals.
Our 4 permanent tour was great fun for the whole family.

Third time out with Big Animal Encounters, each trip was awesome. Great crew and boat, a terrific company. Will travel with them again next year.

Well, the tour was fine, however we booked a 4 hour trip. We wasted 55 minutes picking up and dropping off other people from two other locations (obviously no blame towards the people who booked from different locations, the company should be doing a better job with time management). The people we were with were also not told this and were not too happy. I guess my concern is that it was advertised 4 hours but was only 3 hours and 5 mins.

Best trip ever! Our boat captain, Jason, was amazing. He took us to all the action. All the staff was very helpful and courteous!

We went on the 7 hour tour with Paul it was fantastic! We seen so many different Animals and Paul was very informative. Also met so many great people on board and enjoyed a yummy lunch. Was a awesome way to spend my husband's birthday! Will definitely be back!

Shannon and Steve were fantastic, their knowledge of the animals and fowl of the area was amazing. We had a absolutely fabulous day, seeing orcas, humpback, seals and a bald headed eagle.
I would recommend this adventure company for anyone looking to go whale watching.

The whale watch tour has been a blast. Although it has been one of the first this season and barely any sightings had been encountered so far we have seen many Orcas and a Humpback Whale. Incredible. Thanks to Chris and Shannon for realizing that tour. Simon

We arranged this tour as an experiential education experience for our Adventure Guiding students at North Island College to be tourists/guests, while having the opportunity to gain valuable insights about working in this same field. The students prepared this brief review, with deep gratitude:

Bill from Big Animal Encounters was warm and welcoming. He provided us with a comforting safety overview. Despite the foggy weather, he held great navigation and collaborated with other companies to guide us to wildlife. When we approached wildlife (humpbacks, seals, sea lions and seabirds) Bill was very knowledgeable and mindful of the wildlife. On top of all that, the tour boat was top of the line and overall, a very accommodating tour.
