Big Wheel Burger

To the sweet & friendly red headed young man who always has a smile & remembers the regulars names ~ after a long rough day in the world its always nice to see your smile & sunny attitude! The food is always bang on here & the bacon! Its the real deal! Only con is I can never eat at Macdonalds again ~ flame cooked with fresh topings every time, (litterly never had wilted lettuce or mushy tomatoes ever here!) has ruined me for life & I'm not mad about it! Great place ~ highly recommend!

The chicken burger isn't great, burgers kinda thin. No drive thru.

I really enjoyed this place, the service was friendly and the atmosphere seemed like a nice place to hang out with the homies and get some food. The price is pretty fair too.

I had a bit of the poutine, solid.
Got their deep-fried pickles, fire.
Tried their tap water, it was clean.
GOT MYSELF A BURGER, and it was okay.

Like everything but the burger at the burger joint was stellar, which was a tad bit disappointing. Not a home run, but they still made it to home base. I don't know anything about baseball.

Used to be better in my opinion. I used to love the special burgers but unfortunately my recent experience was horrible. They added ingredients on their own without consulting that we don’t even eat and charged us for it.

Happy staff, tells me a lot about a place. Everyone seemed pretty friendly and helpful. I didn't like the veggie burger but I am not a big fan of black beans. Everything else was great.

Excellent chicken sandwich with amazing service. The staff were happy to tell me places where me and my wife could go hiking and their opinions of there they would recommend. I would definitely recommend this place.

Excellent chicken burger. There was no lack of size and flavours in that burger. Fresh and crispy fries and a cheeseburger that was also delicious. Thanks to the Nanaimo Clippers for scoring a goal in the last 1 min of the game we got the chance to have a free burger from Big Wheel. When we were done our food we had a nice man, grab our tray to put it into the compost and it turned out to be The MAN. Mr.big wheel himself. ”Calen McNeil”. After talking with him, and hearing the story of how big wheel came to be and the success in Victoria we understand why he came to Nanaimo. His support of local charities it fabulous. He truly cares about his staff and the happiness of his clients. I would highly recommend coming to this restaurant. Not only because the food is delicious but there are environmental policies and they are very supportive of local charities. This is why the money we spent add value into our community. Bravo. We look forward to coming again.

Having seen the advertising and liking the 'come on', we finally tried it today. None of our expectations were met and now we understand why there is no hint of the ridiculous prices charged for such inferior food. Thankfully the person at the till completely ignored our order, giving us only one of the two hamburgers we ordered; similarly forgetting the other 'fries' order as well. Then we're forced to pay for 'service' that is non-existent, plus some kind of bogus 'charitable donation'. Thankfully we had the burger cut in two, so we could share it and leave as fast as possible. The staff seem only interested in each other, and the answers to our questions were answered with an attitude that suggested we were out of it or silly for asking [silly questions like 'what is in the hamburgers you sell? ' etc. ] Silly us: first timers. My major disgust was waiting for our food, seeing it sitting on the serving shelf in front of the kitchen, watching as the server leaned over our food to joke with the cook for some time, before serving it to us. She did not have a mask on and certainly had no regard for protecting our food order. Oh well, now we know and now we can share our dreadful experience with friends, to stop them from driving all the way there from the north end like we did, if nothing else. How sad. I had expected so much more, and for $33.43 we spent, now I am angry and will make a point of spreading the word.thank you.dale

I had the Maple Bacon and Brie Burger and let me tell you, it was probably the best "fast food" burger I've ever had. The employees were super friendly and the restaurant has a neat vibe to it.

Triple burger tasted like absolute garbage, my combo costed 29 dollars, because of garlic parmesan fries and a shake, worst experience ive had, and the line cooks werent wearing hairnets, as a line cook myself its pretty unprofessional, they also made fun of an old man getting confused in the restaurant, he clearly had some confusion

Amazing burgers with great flavor. It's now a craving. Can't wait to come back again!

I had the weekly special Blue Cheese burger and liked it. Girlfriend had the regular burger and she thought it was good. The patties were cooked well done, which I liked - kind cooked as well done as 5 Guys, if you've ever had those. Cajun fries were nice and crisp. Girlfriend had all-dressed tater tots and they were AWESOME - super crisp but not over cooked.

Add-ons can make the price steep, but next time we'll share the tots because the burgers are large enough to be satisfying. You can dine for under $20 a person if you share the side order, which feels reasonable in our currently busted economy.

One of the better quick burger joints in town. May be the only place serving smash patties.

Great fries too, the Cajun in particular. The new smaller burg and fries for $10 is a great deal, but overall the menu feels a little expensive. That being said what isn't expensive these days.

What more could a person actually want in a burger joint?
- Online order and payment was fast and easy
- Menu is decent with lots of ways to customize
- Order update via sms and push notifications
- Pickup is as easy as a text message. Heads up parking is limited by the store front and you may need to park behind.
- Burgers were a nice size and tasty
- Fries are crispy and delicious.
-Price is fair but those add-ons add up!

If not for being far from my house I'd gladly eat here again.

No wheels for sale though, let alone BIG wheels. This almost ruined my experience, but the burger & fries quality make up for this lack of purchasable wheels.

Food was fantastic! The service was beyond anything I have experienced in a "fast food" restaurant. Very caring and diligent when dealing with food allergies. Thank you so much for a great experience. Would love to know where you get your gluten free buns at, it was the best one I have had!

Expensive and poor service. Got all my burger orders wrong (x4), and they ignored me when I tried to contact them. I tried contacting them through email and through phone. It was a take out order. Haven’t been back and will not be back.

The food was great and reasonably priced. The value meal burger was much bigger than I expected for a value meal and tasted great. They also had a good selection of gluten-free options with the fries being cooked separately from any foods containing gluten and a great tasting gluten-free bun option for the burgers.

It smelled so good I forgot to take photos. Fries had a nice crunch and taste to it. I got a double cheese burger and the flavours of the patty had good depth and taste to it. I would definitely come back for more. Local island burger joint. Menu isn't complicated. Come with your friends family or coworkers and enjoy a yummy meal

First time at Big Wheel burger and I was initially pretty excited. I ordered a poutine and the watery gravy sunk to the bottom of the dish and then they stuffed super cold cheese curds on my barely hot fries. Very disappointing

Clerk failed to properly take my order resulting in me only getting one of the things I tried to order. Making matters worse they forgot to add the bacon even know they managed to charge for it. Food is lackluster and overpriced.

First time here, so I ordered the $10 deal. Fries were delicious! Nice crispy outside, just enough salt. Was a little disappointed only processed cheese was used. Burger was alright, patty a little bland, but 2nd bite with the sauce was pretty tasty. Next time I'll have to try the chicken burger.

Was a great experience for my wife and I- and she's a foodie from Vancouver!
Burger was full of flavor that you remember back when you were a kid! It's how a burger SHOULD taste and I'm quite happy for our experience.
If you're looking for a great burger that's not from 1 of the big chains, this should be your 1st stop!

I am so impressed with the level of customer service from this restaurant on 5th and Bruce. Lovely and delicious experience provided by the cheeky staff. Felt like a positive workplace where everyone gets along. Fun and easygoing energy has its own rewards. Great job guys Drink water!

Delicious food and good service. I'm not worried about the higher prices because supporting a local business that pays its employees well is more important to me than the $8 I would have saved at McDonald's.

They gave me one patty instead of two. When they corrected the mistake I could barely finish and I was happy as can be. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had on the island!

Yummy burgers, dogs and fries. Probably the most unique thing I had was the Buffalo blue cheese fries. The fries are kinda crispy yet smothered in sauce and blue cheese dressing. Yum.

After all the hype about this place I was extremely disappointed. The burgers were over cooked and the fries were cold when we got them. Won’t be going back

Their burgers are amazing, but I wish they had dairy free shakes. Their fries and ketchup are gluten free and delicious though! And their covid practices are awesome. I feel really safe when I’m there:)
