This Gallery is amazing! The art displayed and the building itself are wonderful, with a perfect light to appreciate every piece. The staff is nice and very kind. Whoever wish to understand a bit more the Natives' art and culture must visit this Gallery. Anyway, it is not only a Natives' Gallery, it is showing great art tout-court.
I recently visited the Bill Reid Gallery and had a fantastic experience! The gallery is a true gem in the heart of Vancouver, showcasing the incredible artistry of Bill Reid and indigenous contemporary artists. The exhibits were not only visually beautiful but also provided insights into the rich history and heritage of the Northwest Coast First Nations.
The staff was very friendly as well. The layout and organization of the gallery were well done, allowing for an immersive and educational experience.
I highly recommend visiting the Bill Reid Gallery for anyone interested in art, culture, or history. It's a must-see attraction in Vancouver that deserves five stars!
I warmed to this gallery. First impression was that it was relatively small, but it was packed with a fascinating insight into Bill Reid and First Nation heritage. The gift shop is also excellent and very reasonably priced (in contrast to many others), with a great selection of local art and craft. With the Museum of Anthropology closed at the moment, this is a very worthwhile alternative.
Beautiful, tastefully designed gallery. Take time to enjoy the art and the mythology it reflects. The sculptures in stone and wood stand out. And the gold jewelry is spectacular and a surprise, as I didn't know about these pieces. Well worth the $13 for an adult ticket. A nice gift shop concludes your visit.
I learned quite a bit and while seeing some interesting art pieces. I enjoyed learning about traditional art as well as seeing more contemporary pieces with traditional influence. Would highly recommend!
Very emotional. Ladies were super nice. The gift shop carries beads which are hard to find. Not bad pricing on the jewelry. Rings are 200$+ beads are around 100. The finer stuff goes up higher tho.
The art gallery is very nice! You get to know Bill Reid various artworks and the fact that the museum is not too big, you have time in one visit to read and understand about historical facts and all the intricate details of every art and its contexts. Highly recommended!
Nice place to check out First Nations art. As a First Nations person I don’t feel uncomfortable or unwelcome coming here. It’s nice to know how a normal person is supposed to feel in this country.
Thank you for hosting our school trip from South Hill Education Centre. Many of my students are from different cultures and countries. They enjoyed learning about Bill Reid, his artistic journey, and Haida culture and art. The gallery is beautifully laid out, and there are other exhibits from artists who are influenced by Reid's work. Our wonderful tour guide, Sara, (and Toonasa in the summer) taught us so much!
This man has always fascinated me, and I've collected him for over a decade. Finally I was able to travel & visit his gallery. Amazing! So diverse and well laid out. My only complaint is it's too small. I studied each item & finished it all in 3 hours. Recommended!
Take a short break from the city to visit this small gallery. Relax and enjoy the experience. An oasis of calm in the heart of the downtown area. The exhibits are beautiful
Incredible collection from Sho Sho Esquiro must see everyone! Its absolutely spectacular collection! And check out the Facebook Live Page of her talking about the pieces of her amazing artworks on display until June 5th 2022! (Facebook search: Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art was live) Vancouver, British Columbia Thank you Sho Sho Esquiro and Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art!
You will leave this gallery with a new level of appreciation for Bill Reid's artistry and Northwest Coast Indian Art in general. The design of the gallery is excellent and both the permanent and temporary exhibits are well presented. A place of the heart.
Its so nice to see many sculptures and jewelry from this amazing BC artist. Being born in the Charlotte's it has a special place in my heart. Worth the visit. I will go back!:)
This year would be Bill Reid's 100 birthday if he was alive. My mom was visiting from Kelowna and we took her to the Bill Reid Gallery since she is such a big fan of his works. It was beautiful, some of the artwork was breathtaking. There was a wall with pictures of his life and people in his life, it was very informative. His works were tastefully displayed as well as works from other Haida artists. This gallery is a great place to take visitors as well as one to explore on your own. I highly recommend this gallery.
There are so many wonderful art pieces and many excellent descriptions. The tour was thorough and informative. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and insightful. It really changed my perspective on some things, and I had a wonderful experience.
Interesting artifacts and art. Beautiful and intimate space, and well-located near transit downtown. I toured with a docent guide who was excellent explaining the history behind the signficant pieces.
I always take my out-of-town guests here. The art display is amazing- jewelry, carvings, textiles, and a totem pole. The Gallery is in the core of downtown Vancouver so easy to drop by to check it out.
Really difficult to find. It's the tiny staircase beside the building between the packing entrance. It's at the top to the right and it doesn't look open but it is.
The collection has grown far richer and deeper over the past few years, and the gift shop is wonderful. The public green space opening South to Christchurch Cathedral is a quiet, soul-restoring oasis in the midst of all the the hustle-bustle.
This is a very interesting museum of the work of a very talented artist based on indigenous peoples. Worth spending some time visiting a truly remarkable artist's work.
Absolutely stunning art work, it was my first time seeing indigenous inspired work and the craftsmanship and the colours are amazing. This museum is definitely worth a trip to see the quality of the pieces there. I believe young people can really connect with the work, it is so vibrant.
One can see the beauty of Vancouver, BG by visiting the Bill Reid Gallery. Excellently trained docents explain the artist contributions he made to their community
