They took such amazing care care of my 10 year old for her first piercing. Really took the time to make her comfortable and it was very sweet that they pumped up her stud choice. She loves her piercings. I highly recommend them, Wirth every penny.

Hands down best experience I've had at a piercers by far. The atmosphere is like a rustic west coast spa, it smells absolutely wonderful when you walk in the door and the staff are immediately friendly and attentive. I was impressed to find they use high quality, respected and trusted brands for their jewelry supply. I also love the "by appointment only" philosophy, because when you come in for your appointment, its all about your personal experience.

Now onto the quality of the piercing experience. My Piercer was Hannah and if possible she will exclusively be my piercer after my experience. From picking just the right jewelry for me, through the piercing and then the aftercare discussion, She was encouraging, warm, incredibly knowledgeable and very skilled. Consent to move through the stages of the piercing process were important to her and I appreciated that. She was very efficient and gentle when piercing, with no unnecessary fiddling around, which (from my experience) can matter a lot. I will definitely be back when it's time for the next piercing!

Hannah was amazing! Very kind, she went over all the details very thoroughly. Super clean and attention to cleanliness was top notch.

Nothing but love for Black Flag! Very fast email response every time, and easy to find then shop! I have gotten my navel pierced, and visited multiple times to have my earlobes sized up, and I have had nothing but good experiences! Super gorgeous studio, wonderful staff, and I always feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. They provide excellent aftercare instruction and are almost always around for piercing “emergencies” which is greatly appreciated. Special shout-out to Jesse for being so awesome, and being the mastermind of styling jewelry! Keep rocking, guys!

The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. I've been in a couple of times once to look at jewelry, and the other time was to get a couple of pircings. Both times answered any questions i had without hesitation. They are by far my favorite shop on the Island. I highly recommend coming here.

Took my daughter to get her ears pierced for her 8th birthday, it was an 11 out of 10. Zache went above and beyond and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Also big thanks to Jesse for his helping hand!

The way I have to describe my time at Black Flag (every time I’ve been here) is: SAFE, consensual, FULL OF CARE, more sterile than a hospital. Truly they make body modifications a important moment in your life. The positivity honesty and true heart put into this studio is above and beyond. I will happily choose Black Flag for my piercings as long as they are there- for the folk that pierce me and interact with me are ones I am happy to have left a mark on my body.

We got our 7 year old daughter’s ears pierced at Black Flag a few weeks ago, and I cannot possibly say enough good things about the entire experience. Everyone there was absolutely wonderful with her, and everything about the shop is professional in the utmost. Though I again can’t say enough about everyone there, Hannah in particular was amazing. I really haven’t come across many people in any profession who are as good with kids as she was, she put my often anxious daughter entirely at ease throughout the whole process. I strongly recommend Black Flag to everyone of all ages, but in particular if you are a parent trying to decide where to take your kid, you’d be crazy to go anywhere else.

Wonderful service! My mother-in-law and I got some ear piercings done by Zache in March 2023 - she had her lobes re-pierced and I had a double helix done. Zache was so friendly, thorough, and professional. The atmosphere of the shop is amazing.so many plants and wonderful nature light. Check out the bathroom, it's like a jungle! I've had check-ups done by both Zache and Ash and have had a great experience every time. Check-ups and jewellery changes are free (just have to pay for the actual hardware/jewellery) and they're always available via e-mail if you have any questions or concerns. Highly recommend!

The best piercing experience of my whole life. Hannah was wonderful and patient with what I wanted out of this, and she made sure to give me the perfect results. I’m not from Nanaimo and I’ve never given a review before but she 100% deserves 5 stars and beyond!

I recently got my septum done by Zache, it was an amazing experience throughout the whole process. Zache made sure I was comfortable and informed every step of the way. They took the time to ensure the piercing was lined up just right and it went super smooth! I felt welcome from the second I stepped into the studio.

My 5 year old had hear ears pierced by Zache and Ash. Both are top of their craft. Made her feel super comfortable despite her being nervous.

I got two piercings done (belly button and ear) by Zache and I was very well taken care of. Zache took the time to make sure everything was properly sanitized and that the piercings would be in the most perfect spots. He explained everything he was doing and honestly did a great job. My piercings healed really well - and I think it’s mainly due to Zache’s work. I’d for sure come back:) highly recommend!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been peirced. I had a dermal removed by Jesse a couple of years and really enjoyed my experience.

Today my son had his ears peirced. I am blown away by the experience that was provided to my son. Jesse was upbeat and enthusiastic the entire appointment. He spoke with my son directly and walked him through every step of the way. My son was able to provide consent on his desicions all the way through.

Jesse your passion for caring for your clients shines through. Your clean dirty protocol was hands down the best I’ve ever seen in a body modification environment.

There is not enough words to describe how great this experience was. Your word of mount is phenomenal and it’s beyond well deserved!

Jesse is the best around. Makes you feel comfortable and the place is super clean and sterile. Old school piercer and has lots of options for those that are unsure. Had experience with piercing all body parts and adding modifications. Highly recommend this place.

My only negative comment is that Zash was going to kick out my in training dog because I gave him a bit of leniency in the front of the shop when I was talking to Jesse. Even after assurance I would keep him controlled, he still would not let it go. Dogs have to learn to. Maybe ask about the dog first next time
