Black Forest Steak & Schnitzel Haus

The bird room is a unique experience, the building itself is fascinating, and the schnitzel is FANTASTIC.

The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was wonderful.

Please have the black forest cake - it's so light and so delicious!

I was in town on business and looking for a restaurant close to my hotel

This is a busy place, so don't show up without a reservation like I did! Wife and had the daily schnitzel 3 course special. Soup or salad to start, bread pudding for dessert. Schnitzel was topped with shrimp, mushrooms, and a house sauce. It was absolutely great, as was the red cabbage and potatoes. Mixed veggies a tad undercooked.

Great place for good German food. This restaurant has been serving Invermere and visitors for many years. Always good food at a good price.

The atmosphere is really unique inside. It’s very old fashioned with stuffed wild animals on the wall. Reservations are a must. We went there on a Wednesday night and they were turning people away without reservations. We substituted chicken for some of the pork options. The chicken schnitzel was very good. It doesn’t say it on the menu but it’s possible. The French onion soup was good but a little small. The Black Forest cake was very yummy!

Very rude, unfriendly. Refused to give us the table we want. We had a service dog with us. They asked us about the papers for the dog twice.
We were told the ext table is available in 1 1/2 hours.
We really looked forward to eat there because we are from Austria but we never been treated like this in a restaurant. It's a shame.
People with a service dog are not welcome here.

We always get great service here and the food is always fantastic! Definitely a must visit when in the Columbia Valley. I wanted to give an extra shout out today because my BIL unexpectedly fainted at dinner today and they were so caring and wonderful and quick to help. Thank you so much!

The Bavarian platter was very good and the duck a l'orange was a real treat - the duck was seasoned and roasted perfectly, the skin, fat and meat tasted amazing with the orange brandy sauce, poached pear and lingonberry preserve. The apple strudel was really nice. Service was excellent - Jason was welcoming, personable, attentive and experienced. We arrived at 4: 30pm at opening and already there was a party seated and shortly after us, there was a constant stream of incoming parties - the restaurant was really good about spacing apart customers which really enhanced the dining experience with privacy and social distancing. The decor is not what I would seek, but it is well done and well kept, and provides a very pleasant atmosphere. We were simply looking for a place to grab dinner, but unexpectedly had a very enjoyable casual fine dining experience.

Such a beautiful and unique place to eat! Came here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend! It was so delicious! The drinks are classic and well made, the food was spectacular! First time I ever tried duck and I loved it! A bit pricey for sure but good for a once in a while or special occasion, well worth it and will be back!

We’ve been going to Black Forest for many years! It is the best restaurant in the valley (and wider) for us! From the moment you park your car you will be impressed with the gardens, decoration, cleanliness, customer service! The quality of food is superb!

We are coming every year from BC to visit hot springs, always stopped to dine at Black Forest Restaurant. Not any more after our todays visit. Service was atrocious the waiter man with glasses and big belly, who never introduced himself was unprofessional and in general very unpleasant. It was the worst customer service imaginable, especially considering the price point. Will never return.

The wait staff was absolutely wonderful, Giving amazing suggestions for drinks and food. The 1st time we went in we were not quite dressed As much as we would have liked but we went back to the very next night and had a amazing date night. The food was absolutely delicious and I can't wait

Customer service was great. For me, I can really see the great service and quality from the outside of the restaurant to the table. If you like seafood Shrimp ‘Mignonette’ is one that I highly recommend. Then, Schnitzel Champignon for my main, the red cabbage from the dish and Schnitzel itself was the best! My mouth was playing in my mouth as theres a lot of things going on there. When i ate my sister's Seafood ‘Saint Jacques' I actually almost cried from nostalgia. I also ate Black Forrest and Coupe “Denmark”for dessert which I also highly recommend if you still have space for it.

Excellent dinner. The schnitzel Oscar was so delicious. Awsom choice of wine. We had Dirty laundry chardonnay. We are from Kelowna is we go to that winery often. We were very pleased with the wonderful service. Cheers

This is comfort food to the max!
We had the 3 course deal which was the best bang for your buck. Everything tasted amazing. Schnitzel was the best I ever had. The portions are huge. You will not leave hungry. And for dessert, bread pudding with rum raisin ice cream. To. Die. For.
It was mostly an older crowd here.but they have great taste! You can't go wrong with meat and potatoes service was immaculate (hard to find these days). It is on the pricier side but worth it for a unique experience. Tip: I'm not sure if people do this but there are definitely cooler areas to dine in the restaurant. There is an aviary that you can eat beside and I would request that if I came back. Also the room with all the hunted animals, not sure if that is only the bar area. But that would be a cool place to dine as well!

Enchanting gem of east Invermere. Dark yet lively atmosphere, friendly service, I absolutely love that hand-painted decor! The go-to spot for schnitzel in the valley, everything is always indulgently delicious. Give them a visit of you're looking for authenticity with some local flair!

A truly authentic experience. Great food, a bit on the pricey side but the quality is there. Staff was friendly but seemed a little rushed to get more customers through. Make sure to book a reservation and follow the dress code.

Delicious meal here. I had the Bavarian platter and loved everything about it. My wife had a schnitzel and was also very happy with it. The apple strudel for dessert was perfect, lots of filling and the pastry was crisp but not dry. 100% will eat here again next time we are in the area.

Their is really no place like it, with authentic German decorations and classic Bavarian food. Nice staff and the meals have lots of effort put in to them.

Every time a customer comes back it is because the service is excellent. This restaurant makes your experience complete. When I return to BC I will gladly come back for a third visit.

First time bringing the family after bragging it up for weeks and it didn’t disappoint! Meals, drinks, dessert and service were all awesome and everyone was more than full. Visited on July 31st.

Black Forest is our go to spot for celebrating our wedding anniversary. Always great food, and fantastic service. I know they have been short staffed lately and that didn’t take away from our amazing experience. Thank you to the Black Forest front and back house staff for your amazing hospitality!

I don't quite understand, when I have made a reservation more than 2 weeks ago, why you would assign me a table right where serving staff come out of the kitchen, busy busy area. Reluctantly we were given a different table. Also, serving a dark beer out of a Weissbeer glass is not something that you should continue doing.
There are many other restaurants in Invermere, don't think we will be back.

The black forest cake was smooth and delectable. The duck was full of flavor, the schnitzel was delightful, and the apple Streudel was to die for. The artistry both inside and out gave the restaurant such a special ambiance. Overall it was an extremely wonderful and unique experience.

Visit every time we are in the area. It's quite rustic. Food is good and authentic. The black first cake is to die for.

We managed to get a table without a reservation within about an hour of arriving. Restaurant was so busy but the staff were excellent and the food was delicious.

Service was great! We inquired ahead about the latest arrival time and the team was informative on what we could expect.
Prices are reasonable.

This place reminds me of Continental Treat in Edmonton with a German flair and style. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. I had the beef rouladen and it was very good. The portion of food was generous and found myself stuffed to the point where I wanted dessert but held off for comfort reasons. The decor is what you would expect in a German styled restaurant. It's a big place but has rooms to not give it that hall feeling. I wish it was here in Edmonton so that we could try the full menu as there was quite a few dishes that sounded delicious. BTW reservations are recommended as this place does get busy.

Great food! Gluten free breaded schnitzel was available and they also provided a gluten free bun. Really great service all around. Reservation recommended but don't miss this place if looking at dining out!

I mean it's ok the decor is nice but the food is pretty meh. Expensive for what you get.zero value here but I guess it's obvious and I knew before coming but was hoping food would pretty good but it was just ok

Was excited to find this place.
However when I went I found out didn't open till 430 pm
So went somewhere else.
Next time I'll definitely plan my trip better to go here
