Their Beef Wellington and Tenderloin are great, the roof is also great. They had the amazing deal of $180 in which you can try Wagyu steak which is worth $450 for 2 people. Great restaurant and amazing fine dine experience.

I now understand the low reviews. The service was so disappointing. Before we had even ordered our drinks, the server asked three times if our bills were going to be split. It was such an uninviting way to start a dining experience. The mains were so poorly cooked, and even with us finishing 1/4 of our food, the server didn't even ask what was wrong. We paid our bill and left immediately.

The food has always been excellent and it matches the service. You know a place is good when they can make a simple side like fried rice be exceptional and wanting more. Tableside service for Cesar salad and dessert are amazing allowing for a decadent experience.

We were not pleased with our dinner experience here. The Tomahawk steak was pretty underwhelming. First of all it's 55oz INCLUDING the massive bone and a good 1/3 was pure fat. So that was misleading when we asked the server. Actual meat is probably 20oz. The steak was pretty raw in the middle, not medium-rare like we asked.
Service was also not great, our drink wasn't done right and they almost lost our jackets and we had to wait upfront for about 10 min.while they asked our group what our jackets look like so they could locate them in the coat check room. Meanwhile asking for 18% tip and a $600 bill.
Yeah, not pleased.
Bluewater, Elisa or even Gotham much better.

Kind of blown away by the amazing food and service. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful! Besides the absolutely delictable food, the service is what stood out to me. Our server Sam was attentive and super kind. It made the experience super enjoyable. And a big thanks to the manager Sumit for checking up on us multiple times. Would come here again anytime, thanks guys

Phenomenal experience! Highly recommend the rooftop patio although the dining room is beautiful too. Oysters, wagu, and mac and cheese were to die for!

On July 16th, my family and I went to dine at Black + Blue and on the first floor a lady server registered our reservation and then put us on hold for the elevator. There were two guests in front of us. The lady waitress helped them press the elevator and when I followed them into the elevator, I was asked by the lady waitress to leave the elevator but no reason was given. So we continued to wait for the elevator and when the elevator came again, the lady didn't help us press the elevator like she did with the first two guests, she just stood at the front desk (there were no other guests at that time). My sister was helpless and asked her if we could get on the elevator now. Only then did she come over very slowly but didn't give us any help, just verbal indication that it was ok. Having been to this restaurant many times (because the wagyu here is very delicious), this was the first time we were treated significantly differently, and although the waiters in the upstairs dining room were very welcoming, this waitress on the first floor made us feel like we had a bad dining experience.

beautiful ambiance and impeccable service, ok steaks.
My prime rib was cooked to perfection along with my wife's beef wellington. The only issues I had here were with the seasoning of the actual meat, and I am just being nick picky here.the Yorkshire was a bit crunchy for my liking. The red wine jus was a tad sweet and could have used some acidity.veggies were well seasoned, and carrots were raw.
I'm sure their kobe beef steaks are absolutely amazing, but I don't have $650 to drop on a steak.

Not sure why they gave us one of the worse tables in the house. I booked a table 2 month early, and specifically asked for a private and quiet location. They placed us next to two groups in the end, and it was so loud throughout the entire time! We had to yell in order to hear each other. What is the point of leaving a special request when they will just ignore your message and turn your special birthday occasion into one of the worse days possible. Beyond disappointed and it is honestly so sad because we had such great expectations for the place and looked forward to it. Do not recommend!

Food is usually great but last experience left us disappointed. Poor quality control on our porterhouse and our server was very off-putting with her demeanor.

Black & Blue is our go-to spot but will be considering other local steakhouses now

Thank you so much. My wife and I came for our anniversary and had a fantastic time. When we arrived we realized we did not have the roof booked due to it not being very clear on the website. I showed the staff how it looked on my end. We were about to be disappointed, but the staff here was exceptional and took my wife and I up to the roof with a beautiful view, fantastic food and great service. That type of customer experience is what is going to make us long time customers. Again thank you very much.

Had dinner with my wife on our 22nd anniversary at this place and we had an awesome experience, starting from the security at the front door and the staff at check in counter, the hostess who took us to our table and most of all to Lloyd our server who always made us laugh on his jokes.food was great and its worth the price, we were able to bring home our left over and the big bone for my dog, looking forward to be back there again sometime soon! Thanks to you all especially to Lloyd Cruz or Samartino

I had a very great time here, it was my partner’s birthday and I’ve asked to prepare a nice cute lil cake for us. Instructions were followed and the design and the taste was amazing. I do have a suggestion tho, our main course was delicious but the sides were very proportional. We initially wanted to order four sides but our server was professionally suggested they’re huge and it would be much food for a company of two. Yet we ordered 4 and amazed by the huge size. He was totally right and did a great job by suggesting that. I do suggest making the sides a bit smaller so guests can have a taste of all sides on the menu. I loved everything this is just a suggestion and I dunno how feasible this could be. Thanks for not checking on us much during our time there, that was very much pleasant. I really liked how the server checked on us only couple times, I forgot his name but he was amazing. Thanks Glowbal Group keep it up

Black + Blue absolutely deserves a 5/5! The boyfriend and I saved up to go to a nice steak house for our 3 year anniversary and this experience more than exceeded our expectations! The food was incredible! We also ordered a 6OZ Wagyu tenderloin, which was the most amazing experience, the best steak I have ever had! They even made us feel special, the atmosphere was so warm and cute, we sat upstairs which was nice, and they even made a special anniversary dessert! And I felt the portions were more than enough! Also both the manager and our server (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch their names!) were so lovely and considerate! Our server gave the best show for our spinach salad! Really a lovely experience and we absolutely will return! Thank you Black + Blue for the lovely experience!

The food this visit was amazing. We had a corporate event with 24 people. Everything went super smooth. The seafood tower was delicious. I chose salmon off the set menu and it was done perfect. A couple of my colleagues had the sirloin and it was so thick. Great cut of meet. Service was really good. Very good day!

Wonderful time!
Came in as a walk-in during their busiest hours on a holiday and the hostess did her best to find a table for a friend and I (waited almost no time).
Our waiter Kent was nothing short of outstanding. I have to admit, it was a very busy night for them and things were moving a bit slow, but Kent’s sense of humour, attention to detail, and overall energy made us feel like no matter what we were going to be taken care of. It is the best feeling to know you are in good hands with your server amongst having a spectacular meal.

I really enjoyed my evening dining at Black+Blue. Great food and great service. I ordered the Tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly. They also brought out a little dessert for my boyfriends birthday, the butter cake with a candle and happy birthday on the plate, which was a nice gesture and tasted amazing! One only disappointing this were the Truffled Fries, very underwhelming truffle flavour. I would definitely come back to eat here when I visit Vancouver again.

Delicious as usual. Excellent service. Such an amazing restaurant for a special meal. My only complaint was that they didn't include the olive tapenade and balsamic butter with our leftovers. We had ½ the bread left and it just wasn't the same without the spreads.

The food is amazing!
Specially the seafood (oyster and mussels) you can tell its so fresh.
The place was so cozy and elegant we are in the roof where top of the restaurant that you need to use a elevator.
Over all my friends and I enjoy the vibe of the restaurant specially that I celebrate my birthday here.
Highly recommended!

I was looking forward to this restaurant but my experience was terrible. The hostess were not accommodating and a bit rude. I asked for a table and they said they were all backed up, so were seated at the bar. I told them if they can transfer my small group to a table if any table opens or if any cancellations. However, during my two hours eating there I saw several tables outside and a few inside empty for the duration of the time we eaten. Our server was nice but this whole experience was mediocre. The food was not that amazing. My friend I went with threw up a bit as the steak she ordered wasn't too good, I'm guessing it didn't agreed to her stomach.

I'm not sure if I would come back. It seems I have to book 2-3 weeks in advance for a table of 2 or 3. I would recommend a different restaurant to celebrate a birthday for or even for a special occasion.

Amazing restaurant but with the renovations I was really hoping for them to change the flooring. The wood flooring always catches your heels (waiting for someone to get hurt). I got my louboutins caught in between the planks and almost fell (also damaged the patent). If you are wearing any normal high heel shoe walking is terrifying and something that needs to be changed.especially to avoid any sort of legal issues in the future. I was walking cautiously and still got stuck in between. Drinking and walking on those floors would be terrifying.
Server advised me this happens ATLEAST once a night. Thats alarming.

We went there for a birthday celebration with a table reserved on roof top. The customer service was horrible and I felt embarrassed that I invited my friends for brithday here. The waitress didn't know there is a brithday, never asked if we need drinks or somethign. We had to keep asking can you please get us this and that. The funny thing was they were moving some tables and chairs around as if the resturant is closing even though we had over an hour to the last call. We asked if the resturnat is closing for some reason and the waitress said there is an event tomorrow morning and we are preparing for that. Anyhow I've been here before and the service was not that bad but this time it was embarrassing.

We went up to the roof for dinner to celebrate our engagement and we're not disappointed. The atmosphere is excellent and the restaurant itself is beautiful. I'm hard to impress when it comes to expensive food but my fiance and I both felt that the prices for the food were fair because our meal was magnificent. If you can get a spot here you most definitely should!

Such a lovely experience. If you appreciate meat and want experiential dining, this is the place to be. The place is so beautiful and the waiters are all so nice.

Every dish was perfect. We were both fully stuffed with what we got. We each ordered a cut of meat on its own with two sides.

Would highly recommend for all special occasions:)

Gorgeous view! And.that's about all I can say about this place. For the fact that my bill was 105 dollars per person, I was underwhelmed and disappointed by the food. The food was heavy, greasy, and it did not really reflect the price that I had to pay. I ordered the NY Striploin, the mashed potatoes, the mushrooms and Mac + cheese sticks. For dessert I had the buttercake. This food actually did not sit well with me because of its heaviness. I think the Mac + cheese sticks were the only item I'd go back for. The food was not really that memorable. I don't mind fine dining, but I do expect higher quality food for such a high price.

Black+Blue is a great place to try if you would like to eat steak at a upscale restaurant around downtown.

My experience here took me by surprise because I have heard mixed reviews. I was super impressed by the service immediately upon entering, although we had no reservations we were seated immediately. We originally just wanted to come in for dessert after having dinner elsewhere, but our conversation about the menu with our waiter had us craving what they had on the dinner menu. He went above and beyond with all his recommendations. We ended up sharing the Mac and cheese sticks, A5 wagyu 6 oz ribeye, butter cake, and we got complimentary mango sorbet. All four of those dishes actually paired really well and had us feeling very satisfied. Definitely coming back again. I wish I could’ve gotten that waiters name as he made our dining experience amazing on top of the great food.

My partner and I went for our first anniversary and were absolutely blown away by everything: the decor, the vibe, the food and the staff. The staff were incredibly friendly, had valuable intel on the food and drinks, and even brought us an incredible display of desserts to help us celebrate.

Extremely rude service. Will not return again. I was sat in a torn booth. Upon mentioning that to the server.he said “that’s life”. Explained the same thing to manager and he immediately offered the next booth which was somewhat appreciated. Our server then changed right after this with no explanation? Very disappointed and not expected this.

I gotta say I was very disappointed with the Prime Ribs. The fat to lean meat ratio was just crazy. I ended up leaving the whole thing-as it was just unetable. Your team should put more attention into these type of details. I don't expect these kind of issues in what's considered ''one of the best'' steakhouses in Vancouver. Very disappointed!

I ordered Wagyu from the dine out menu, but my friend order from the regular menu; neither dishes were good. We booked for 7: 15 and the food arrived at 8: 40. My husband and I had our first wedding anniversary celebration here and they treated us so well. Got a beautiful secluded spot. The drinks were 10/10 and so was the food. Come here for the best steaks in town. Our waiter Kent delivered awesome service. He’s very personable and added a friendly touch to our experience there.

I can feel the warm hearts of the employees who welcomed us. Lloyd who served our table was the best. I didn't even tell him that I was Korean, but he greeted us in Korean with a good sense. He helped me choose a good menu and continued to care about us so that my children could eat comfortably. Our dinner was perfect When I left the restaurant, he wrote thank you in Korean. This kindness felt very touching to me who missed Korea. We are one of many customers who just pass by him.

Food is excellent. Everything else is moderate at best.we reserved a booth, when we got there they gave us the smallest table they had.when we asked for a booth, we were told a couple of minutes of wait which turned out to be like 10 minutes.
When we asked for straws for our drinks, the server brought them to the table holding the tip of the straws by his bare hands. We ordered bread for starter, the meal came out first and the server was like oh you didn’t get your bread as he looks at the table with no bread!
We were told on entry that the last call for drinks was already ended, so no drinks.but the hostess brought the drinks menu to the table for us anyway.
Service is pretty poor here.for the amount of money they charge, you’d expect to get better service but nope.

Very nice meal, and great service. We went for the Dine Out Vancouver menu. The wife had sablefish chowder and a striploin steak, and I had a beet salad and the striploin as well. Both dishes were presented and cooked very nicely and the servers were just attentive enough to attend to us without being in the way. Definitely a great experience.

Wow, took my wife for dine-out Vancouver and enjoyed the soup and ahi tuna to start, followed by perfectly done medium-rare steaks. A delectable foie gras that literally melts in your mouth and a scrumptious dessert. The service was beyond our expectations. I would definitely recommend and will be back soon.)

I’ve been in Vancouver for the last month and it’s during the Covid restrictions and need to call out Black+Blue for the overall energy and friendliness of the staff that allows that to fade into the background and for you to feel like times are normal (eventually BC restrictions kick in at 10 and reality sets in).

Even without all the proper distancing, the space echos conversation and the music melts the social distancing space away to give you a few hours of normalcy.

When you walk in, you start your friendly journey by the front staff who take your name, number, temperature and then set you up for your table or bar space (my domain). You are quickly greeted and offered the menu and asked for water preference.

After that, I recommend grabbing a glass of wine from the menu, one of their custom cocktails or go for your old favorites. Feel free to have a conversation with your server or bar staff if you want, or focus on your group.

The food is very good here and they have some of Vancouver’s premium steaks along with top quality Japanese wagyu and Kobe. I usually start with a lobster bisque. Even though it’s a common item at higher end restaurants these days, they develop a deeper, more balanced flavor of the roasted shells and brandy. It’s one of the best I’ve had.

I know most people usually don’t show up to a place like this for chicken, yet their Coq au Vin is superb. I’ve actually had it multiple nights in a week. The broth and flavors are so well developed and it’s a fully satisfying dish. You won’t go away hungry.

Unfortunately, I am gluten free, otherwise I would go for their prime rib dish with Yorkshire pudding that looks and smells incredible. It seems to be a favorite of many people around me.

Why am I not talking about the steaks? Well, if you’ve had Japanese Kobe or A5 wagyu before, you already know how decadent that is and it almost needs someone else to describe it. They deliver them on par with the few steak houses that are lucky enough to carry it.

Come in and have an experience yourself. If your like me, don’t forget the wine:)

I’ve always loved coming to black & blue. This time around we had the 3-course dinner special for Christmas, it was extreme value for money. Server Georgia was great, the rooftop was nice and warm by the fire, food was phenomenal as always, the only downfall was that the mashed potatoes was very salty but I left that on the side. I would highly recommend this place for the variety of steak cuts
Edited: unfortunately, I have to edited my review as I got food poisoning 24 hours later from the oysters which was the only thing my partner didn’t have (luckily). Unfortunately I won’t be coming back to one of my favourite restaurants.

I came for lunch with a group of ten from work. The restaurant was busy with several larger groups, as well as the regular lunch crowd. Perhaps that was why service was glacially slow. It took about an hour for our food to be served, although, to the restaurant's credit, they did provide complimentary appetizers to keep our hunger at bay. I ordered a burger, which was quite substantial, accompanied by fries. The sandwich was a bit too large to handle comfortably and was slightly soggy in parts, so it was not easy to eat. The burger was flavourful and the meat patty generously portioned and cooked appropriately. The staff provided reasonably attentive service and were friendly and professional. I would recommend this restaurant for a leisurely lunch but not for a quick one. There are better, cheaper burgers available elsewhere, but I can't complain too much about Black + Blue's, although the kitchen may wish to consider shrinking its size a little to make it more manageable, as well as addressing its tendency to become quite soggy. Otherwise, I would say that the food quality was good but the experience, overall, was quite average.

One of the best steaks I've ever had at a restaurant. Went here for a friend's birthday. We ordered the tomahawk to share. The waitress forgot to put the order in but was extremely apologetic about it. She ended up giving us each a free steak, sides as well as shots! She was great. The food was also amazing. Highly recommend the king mushroom in wagyu lard. I got the rib eye steak which was very flavourful and tender.

Way over priced. $12 french fries that tasted like white spot. $250 steaks? Really? We made a reservation for The Roof well in advance for a special night out, and they just casually informed us that we were booked over by a party - no notice, no real consideration or apology. Staff were trying to be friendly but also seemed stressed and not fully present. Won't be going back. Great place if you want to be seen.

Super pricey; a place where the high end food ends up costing an arm and a leg without actually filling you up. They had only one highchair in the entire establishment, so when we made reservations and was told we could bring 3 small children, it was a bit disappointing and cumbersome for our table. The front half of the restaurant is also freezing cold anytime the door opens and many were dressed in their winter jackets during their meals. Our server was very well versed in how to tell us what wagyu beef was, so that was good.

They were very careful about my food allergies. A+ for effort on their part to make sure I would be alright. The food was otherwise alright. I had the filet mignon, whiskey sour and a few appetizers I can't recall the names to. My server was very personable and made an effort to interact with me. I unfortunately can't say that the food was too memorable, but then again I'm comparing it to Vegas and Japan. I suppose that it's pretty good compared to other steakhouses in Canada that I've been to. The price isn't wallet friendly, but the experience was nice.

Well I wanted to try a really fancy steak at least once. No regrets, the porterhouse was the best steak I’ve had yet. After buying a sous vide device I probably wouldn’t pay $100+ for a steak again now that I can make one almost as good at home for cheap, but if you don’t want to cook or just have steak every now and then, this is a great place to go to get them.

I don’t typically share reviews but had to after the poor service from Black and Blue we received last night. I had booked a reservation for 8: 15 pm, only to arrive and wait for over half an hour without an update from the hostesses. At this point, we asked what was going on, only to be told that they were overbooked and that it would be at least another half an hour before we could sit down. To make matters worse, we could see that there were plenty of open tables and we still were not being seated. Ultimately, we ended up leaving and never even received an apology from the staff. It was an incredibly poor experience and we won’t be going back.

I had dinner here with my family and we shared the steak and seafood platter. It was just the right amount of food for the three of us (we also had a starter salad and some calamari). The service was excellent - very attentive but didn't hover. We sat in the mezzanine which provided a lovely view of the meat cabinet and the floor below. My only complaint would be the dessert - we ordered the s'mores cake, and I didnt care for the applewood smoke flavour of the marshmallow. All in all it was a great night.

Great environment. We had a wonderful dinning experiences here, the staff are friendly and service is very quick. I like the way they present their steaks to you that you can actually see them and choose which one you want. Description is always too pale and I think when it comes to steak, you should see its size and its marble rather than it saying it’s 16oz and a prime ribeye. The reason I give a four star is that despite their great steak, their fried Brussel sprouts and other veggies are quite salty plus it is burned. I know it should be slightly burnt but it already taste quite bitter to me.

I wrote this email in March. Since no one got back to me, and yes I’m still bothered.

To whom this may concern/global group,

I dined tonight at your restaurant Black and Blue, and was appalled by the level of service I received. I understand going there,
late (we got there at 12am), sometimes staff is short. However you guys do close at 2am on Friday’s, there was a little crowd, and we are paying/tipping customers.

We went for drinks and dessert.

First of, we were acknowledge by the busser instead of the server.

Our server was quite rude towards us. She was a bit of dismissive and didn’t let us finish our sentences before making her comments. At the end of the night she gave us the bill (around 12: 45) without us asking for it and we were not even done our wine! We only said we were good for now after our dessert.

To top it off, there was a mouse that ran under our table, and no one acknowledge us when we said there was a mouse.

I hope you guys are a) able to rectify the customer service issue as this is not the first time I had a unpleasant experience at the Black and Blue establishment and b) look into your rodent problem.

I had dinner here on Saturday for my girlfriend's birthday and I was abit disappointed with the service as the no one acknowledged my girlfriend for her birthday even tho I wrote it down on the reservation but that aside our server wasn't very attentive to us kinda felt like things was rushed the steak was amazing although my steak was a little over done and just about Luke warm when I got it, our sides wasn't very much to rave about we ordered fries which came just Luke warm wasn't hot or anything, we also got asparagus which was very nice and the biggest disappointment was the king mushrooms in waguy lard as it was sitting in a pool of fat and had a very sour taste to it wasn't tender at all was Very dry and chewy it was gross our server never asked why we didn't touch them. All in all steak was very good but everything else was a let down me and my girlfriend left very disappointed at sucha high establishment might come back to give it another go.

What a disappointing meal. The Steakhouse Nachos were delightful, but VERY slow to arrive. The kitchen seems to have a consistency problem. Two of our parties entrees were fine, but the other two were barely warm, like they had been sitting for a long time. One side dish was hot, the other was only lukewarm. The restaurant replaced the two unacceptable entrees with two equaly unappetizing versions. They also provided two replacement side dishes, one of which were as bad or worse than the original. Overall, the good appetizer can't compensate for slow service and very uneven and unacceptable food quality.

I attended a work function here which was great; attentive service and delicious food. My return visit for happy hour did not meet my expectations. Our server was hungover; it was his last shift so he didn't seem to care. We ordered the tuna poke - the avocado topping had the sticker from it mashed in as well. We received a replacement, which ended up being the same dish, they just picked the sticker out. Our server removed this from our bill which was appreciated. Maybe best to go here for a formal meal, and if you're going for happy hour - just stick to the drinks

I was a little disappointed with black + blue. After reading raving reviews about the food I wasn't impressed. Portion size is tiny, my boyfriend left hungry and their side dishes, although I get they're trying to be different, really didn't compliment the steak. The steak itself was good, but nothing to write home about. Aside from the food, the venue itself was beautiful, the staff was great and they even brought out their steak platter to show us each different type they had. I gave it a 3 because I feel there are so many other steak houses within reach that offer more. I really was hoping for more.

Celebrated my sisters 30th birthday here, took a while for the food to come but we were a larger party. The service was a little slow as we only had one server but again it was a large party of 16. Nice atmosphere if you are looking for a fancy venue.
