Cam was a fantastic guide! He had a wealth of knowledge about avalanches, hazards as well as snowpack and was always ready with a detailed answer to any questions we had. He was professional and taught us techniques during our Into-to-Splitboarding.

Monte, as well as the rest of the Black Sheep personal we dealt with were professional and helpful, and made a great recommendation on where to rent split boards. We will definitely look to book with them our next time out.

My trip had a bad start due to lost baggage and flight cancelation, but Monte had done a great job to find me some skis and arrange the situation. His cheerful welcome quickly makes me forget about those flight travel issues.

I was guided by Chris who has made the ski experience memorable. Beyond the professional aspect of mountain guiding, getting to know Chris, listening his stories and benefiting from his incredible experience was truly inspirational.

These folks are tryna run a commercial touring business to a free hut built by volunteer labour that explicitly disallows this. Embarassing, don't book with them.

I have used Black Sheep Adventure Sports for Technical mountaineering courses, guided trips, and rock climbing training. They are always my go to for whenever I am looking into guided trips and I argue they are the best in the business. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for highly trained, fun, and safe guides/instructors.

I booked with Black Sheep adventures for a guided climb of the Chief in Squamish. Monte was really helpful throughout the booking process and gave great advice on which day we should pick to climb during our stay to avoid the crowds and continued to provide information to us up until the day of the climb with everything we needed to know. We were also able to rent climbing equipment from them for the day.

Bridget was our climbing guide and was just fantastic in every regard. Whilst my partner & I had plenty of bouldering and top rope experience, we had never done multi-pitch before so were a little bit nervous going into the day. Bridget gave us great advice and encouragement throughout the day, and we felt like we were in super safe hands. We enjoyed our climb thoroughly, and Bridget chose the perfect route for our level of experience as we felt challenged but able to climb it all.

Overall, a fantastic experience with Black Sheep Adventures and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for anyone looking for an unforgettable experience of climbing the Chief.

Monte and Hayden led us on a 5 day ski touring trip and we had a great time. First off, they're very competent and I fully trusted that they were making safe/smart decisions throughout the trip. As guides they took us into some awesome zones and were extremely considerate of everyone's ski abilities and personal objectives. I'm already thinking about my next trip with Black Sheep.

Monte is a very professional guide and teacher. The biggest compliment I can give anyone is to let them take my son out without me in the mountains. With Monte I would not hesitate to let him take my 15 year old son out climbing. That alone speaks to the trust I have in his skill, safety and preparation. Monte also has an immense amount of knowledge.

I have been on a number of backcountry ski/ski mountaineering trips with Monte & Black Sheep Adventure Sports over the past several years. These trips have included avalanche safety training (level 2), and multiple multi-day hut trips in some expert level terrain (such as the Tantalus range near Squamish, BC).

On all the trips Monte and his guides have displayed excellent professionalism, tuition, and decision making in the mountains.

In mixed ability groups, Monte will tailor the trip to all ability/fitness levels, ensuring everyone has a great time. Monte has also pushed me to tackle steeper terrain than I was used to skiing in the backcountry (both on the up and down).

I would not hesitate to go on more trips in Monte in future.

I have done multiple instruction courses and guided trips with BlackSheep Adventure Sports over the past years, and can’t praise Monte’s professionalism and experience as a guide enough.
From rock climbing (sport, trad, multi-pitch), ice climbing, backcountry skiing/touring, crevasse rescue training, glacier travel and multiple adventures climbing mountains, Monte has been my trusted mentor on my journey to become an alpinist. During all the group courses and trips he still paid close attention to my individual development and risk tolerance, and he keeps pushing me to the next level, taking me places I’d never imagine I could go. We are already planning what training and trips we could do next.

He also brews a pretty decent alpine coffee, so that’s a plus. ;-)

My son and I did a two-day crevasse rescue course with Monte and Dan; two experienced and friendly guys who know their stuff. Good info that advanced our abilities and inspired confidence for future endeavors. Two weeks after completing the course my son and I climbed Sky Pilot, something I'd been wanting to do for years but had avoided because of the snow-slope approach, which we had no problem with thanks to our newly developed skills. Go for it!

I've use Monte (head guide at Black Sheep) for 2 seasons now for backcountry ski-touring. He's very experienced, inspires confidence, and ensures you develop your skills as you go while feeling safe. He's also highly capable of finding fine powder lines, great views, and good company to ski with. Can't recommend him enough.

We did a two-day alpine climbing trip with Monte this August. We do a lot of hiking, but we had limited climbing experience. Monte was a generous and awesome guide! He taught us patiently and in an intelligent way all the needed techniques. We had a great time, we learned a lot, all in a beautiful setting! We want to come back!

I took two courses with BlackSheep Adventure Sports this summer - Multi Pitch Systems and Summer Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue. Both were awesome, well-organized, and info-packed. We benefited from a small guide-to-participant ratio and the friendly, professional guides gave us the latest best practices and answered our many questions! They were all super passionate about the mountains and created a positive, hands-on learning environment. At the end of the courses I had so much more confidence to start heading out on my own and making my own decisions.
