Blue Hat Bakery & Bistro at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts

I popped in to grab a bite from the bakery section today. I was the only person in there, but the person working seemed hassled. There weren't many options but I got the 'vegetarian sandwich' that was advertised for 12.00. It was not good. It had lettuce, plain goat cheese, and beets but no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. The bread was very hard. I threw half of it away because my jaw was sore from trying to gnaw through the bread.

The restaurant had a great selection of farm-to-table dishes, showcasing the best of local and seasonal ingredients.

Stopped here for coffee on the patio over looking the marina. It’s located at the mouth of Granville island. Lots of indoor (covered in case it rains) and outdoor seating. Espresso drinks are all reasonably priced and made with LavAzza beans (Americano $3). They have a variety of pastries, sandwiches and juices available.

Had a very decadent, rich hot chocolate as part of this year’s hot chocolate festival - delicious but perhaps a little too much cream for my liking and also rather pricey! However, I would like to come back and try the tasty looking bakery items soon:)
