Bon Chovy Fishing Charters

I had a great time with Bon Chovy! The fishing wasn't terrific but we still landed a few. A bad days fishing etc.etc. I'll be back for another charter.

We had a time of our lives with captain Brandon! He is like a fish whisperer! I booked a 5h charter for my son's 20th Birthday and Brandon didn't disappoint! Brandon worked very hard and used different fishing techniques to maximize our chances of catching trophies of all possible salmon species. As a result we caught roughly 20 fish of different species. In the beginning we got a coho and a small Chinook that we couldn't keep, then We limited out on a pink salmon in 20 minutes with a couple of double headers! And at the end of our trip we caught 2 massive largest Chinooks we could legally keep. It was like a cherry on the birthday cake! Bravo Brandon!

Our group of 5 enjoyed having Cory as our fishing guide. We caught a few salmon but only wish we could have kept them (that’s up to the government, not Cory’s fault). Fortunately, we got great views of Howe Sound and the Strait of Georgia, and got to keep the crab! Thanks for the expert knowledge!

Great experience with Bon Chovy! My dad and I went on a 5 hour fishing trip for two at 7am. Captain was awesome and very knowledgeable. Set crab traps on the way out to the fishing grounds and then went out to catch some salmon. Had good luck and caught one salmon keeper with a few undersized let go and limited out on Dungeness crab! Captain cleaned the fish and bagged the fish and crabs at the dock. Highly recommend!

Jacob was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and nice to be around. We had a great time! I wouldl definitely book with bon chovy again.

These guys are the best. Kevin told us he was new to the company, and wow did he really show us a good time. From the mouth of the cap, to Howe sound and in between we fished for salmon, left with 3 keepers and about 7 fish on the boat total. This guy sure knows what he's doing, he got sooo excited when my 10 year old caught his first salmon. What a great experience. This will now be a yearly event for us. Thanks guys, see you soon!

I had heard great things about this charter company but boy did they live up to the hype! Our guide, Jacob, was elite - no other way to say it. He got a feel for what our group of four wanted and delivered. He took us to the hottest of hot spots and after a 5 hour charter, we're all exhausted. Our biggest fish was probably north of 30 lbs and we must have had over 30 hits on the rod.

What an awesome time, the views of the mountains when fishing were breathtaking. Our guide Dimitri was fantastic, knowledgeable and didn’t miss a beat. Super nice guide who knew his stuff, I highly recommend this tour and having Dimitri as a guide…highlight of our visit to Vancouver and bonus bring 2 fish back with us to Nova Scotia.

Went out on half day AM with Dimitri.
Caught a 8 pound CoHo in the first 45 min. Excellent guide nice heavy boat learned a lot about the area and habitat

Had such a great day. Great location on Granville that is easy to get to. Everything was provided for a great fishing experience. Jacob was fun and super informative. Highly recommend!

We got out on the last day for 2020. Probably the best trip I've been on. Our guide Demetrius got us on the Chinooks in a big way. Got 3 keepers and lost at least 3 good ones with many small guys, a bucket of prawns and crabs. If your going out. These guys are it. First class all the way. Will renemberthis one for a long time and will be going back.

Just back from my 3rd trip out with Jason in the last 2 weeks. I have bought a property on Sidney island and wanted to get more experience of the location and how to fish here, booked Jason because I had watched some of his videos online and him being in Sidney worked well for me.
From the start he was very professional, timely, and full of very helpful information. We fished local spots and we hooked onto some great Chinook 10 minutes from where I live. Had a great day even brought home some Lingcod and rock cod for the BBQ.
I was so impressed I decided to go again this te.with my brother-in-law and for a full day trip. What a day out some great Chinook in the boat and what tough fishing it was, well for Jason tide was riping swells where up and he was constantly dancing between the wheel and the downriggers. We had a fantastic day he got us onto over 12 fish not his fault we lost a couple but we had a great days fishing. And lastly today we went out I took my son who had never fished and my father-in-law for a full days fish.

My father-in-law hooked up very quickly but didn't listen to Jason and off went that one we hooked up a couple more times and then my son hooked and landed his first Chinook! Then I got mine nice fish and we'll netted.
We continued to hook up and we lost some no fault of Jason's, it is called fishing remember.
For me Jason has been a great source of knowledge and information on my areas to fish around Sidney island. He has had no problem passing onto me so many tips and advice and his offer for further help. I will be in contact with Jason when we come back over to our property and would love to go out with him again.

We missed anything keepable today, but doesn't mean it wasn't a spectacular day on the water! I'm not a fisherman, but ill go again! My husband is over the moon. Thank you again to this amazing team, for helping us celebrate our 1 year anniversary

The guide was informative and decent at his job, especially when to came to direction of how to catch. Unfortunately, we caught only 1 fish during an 8 hour charter. 5 of those hours were trolling back and forth in one location in circles within 300m of the Sand's Head lighthouse according to my GPS activity where 100+ other boats were, including a few commercial operations disturbing the fish. I get that with fishing, sometimes that happens but I still would've preferred going somewhere not as crowded VS a popular spot, especially after 1 hr and no bites.

Was out with Bon Chovy for their first trip in a few months this week. Great day on the water! The guide was entertaining, fishing was lights out and the covid protocols in place made me feel very comfortable. Boats are very spacious. 10/10 recommend them, even if you are an experienced local angler!

Fantastic day fishing with Nick. Did the half day and had a double headed on within 10 minutes! Nick was a great guide and the boat was perfect for fishing. We had a blast and it was so beautiful out there.saw some seals and had beautiful views. Would do again!

Been fishing with Jason many times over the years and always had a great time. Nice, clean boats and good fishing gear. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bon Chovy to others and I'm looking forward to my next trip with them!

Went out with Brandon on Sat. It was blowing quite hard and we couldn't make it out to the mouth of Fraser. Not a problem! Brandon still manage to find Chinook and Coho in the local waters. Amazing day!

As a deep sea fishing charter boat captain myself, I know what it takes to run a first class operation, and Bon Chovy delivers! I've fished with Jeff and Jason several times this summer and it's always a successful and fun experience. They know where the fish are and they know how to help you catch them. I've taken my wife as well as some business associates and all were more than satisfied. The equipment and boats (Grady White Marlins) are great, and Jeff and Jason really take an interest in teaching their clients how to hook up and land the big Chinook and Coho's that are swimming around Vancouver. It's an amazing experience to be fighting a strong salmon with the high rise buildings of a beautiful city in the background. I may know the waters of southeast Florida, but Jeff and Jason are the best guides on the salt in BC.

Just caught the biggest fish of my life! Within the 1st 20 minutes of dropping the lines my boyfriend and I caught a double header! What a rush! I had so much fun and couldn’t stop laughing as I was so excited wreaking in this monster of a salmon. Once again Jason Assonitis’s from Bon Chovy fishing Charters delivers. Jason is the best guide Sydney has to offer. He’s patient and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to fishing. It was exciting not only learn about fishing in Sydney but the beautiful surrounding area and wildlife. I highly recommend Jason as a fisherman and tour guide. Thanks Jason for the time of my life!

The water was as smooth as it gets and we landed 2 keepers of the most beautiful fish! Nick was awesome! We enjoyed the wealth of knowledge he shared about fishing and the area. Nick was great with making sure our teenager had an amazing fishing experience as well. She loves the Prawn!

This was my second trip with Bon Chovy. Jason was our guide both times. I've been a professional sturgeon guide for 22 yrs, and I can honestly say that Jason goes above and beyond, and works hard to put his clients onto fish. I would highly recommend him to anyone with confidence. If you're looking for a fishing trip, check out Bon Chovy and request Jason. His heart is in it. What more could anyone ask for in a guide. The only reason I give him 5 stars is because the stars don't go any higher. If they went to ten that's what I would give.
