Breka Bakery & Cafe (Denman)

This bakery was right down the road from our hotel and we visited at least 3 times. I was so glad that they have a variety of sugar free syrups for the coffee, the sf caramel was so good in my Americano.

The spinach & yam frittata was so unexpectedly good! And I enjoyed the banoffee tart, the Copenhagen roll, and kuffle. My friends loved the earl gray donut and apple fritter.

We also loved the blueberry almond chia pudding, I enjoyed the apricot chicken salad sandwich and lemon shortbread cookie. Everything was worth coming back for.

All the ladies there were so helpful and friendly. There was hardly ever a line. I took so many pastries home to share!

Was denied entry with service animal and provided no reason and spoken rudely to at five in the morning… otherwise nice place… seams management is misinforming staff!

Low-end quality “bakers” that will attempt to steal your money over skip at the slightest hint of an allergy.

Real bakers don’t use soy-based chocolate.

Amazing baked goods and coffee like all other locations. Just one thing I found super odd about this location.it is not study/work friendly whatsoever. There is not a single plug you can use to charge your laptop for long study sessions, where all the other locations have a plug at every table.
I went to McDonald's down the road and even they had plugs I could use.

I stopped in at 4: 00 a.m. To stay safe while waiting for my taxi, and the guy told me I need to buy something or leave. Vancouver, it's all about the money

This review is for poor foresight: only one cash register. The staff works hard and there are sometimes 10+ staff hustling around, however having only one cash register is quite silly, there is always a huge line. Managers need to figure out how to speed up the line by having mobile payment devices. Those who don’t want coffee or items that take time to prepare can quickly pay and go. Fix this!

Les prix sont très bas et ils on toujours beaucoup de choix. Je recommande Breka à toute heure du jour et de la nuit. Leurs biscuits ne sont pas trop sucré. Leur pudding au chia et pomme est délicieux!

Very very bad service. I came with friends and most of were new to canda we didn’t know where should we wait for our coffee.the barista and cashier were so rude and seemed nervous.she literally shouted at us to move away from the line instead of telling nicely-it wasn’t crowded anyway-.

Really great bakery, a bit busy, but everyone's really nice and the food's delicious.

It has been my breakfast spot for almost a week now. Amazing food and service.
The spicy chicken sandwich and vanilla doughnut bite is a must.
The place can be crowded on weekends, so save your spot early in the morning.

This place is amazing. They've got lots of options and their bread is fresh and smells wonderful. Got some spinach fritters and puff pastries that were devoured in seconds. Highly advise stopping by on your way to work, especially if you're within walking distance, because it's a great way to start your morning and leaves you feeling satisfied all day.

They have a great selection of savory and sweet pastries and desserts. The Tiramisu we ordered was delicious and not overly sweet, and we enjoyed the fresh Americano as well. We will be back to try other menu items! Minus 1 star only because even though we did not provide the cashier with our name, when we received our order, the ticket had the name “Karen” on it. My girlfriend did not like that!

I just moved into the neighborhood and found this place on my first day. I must say I wasn't all that impressed, I was flabbergasted! A little forewarning, your first visit will be daunting; the hard part is not about what you're going to have, it's all about what you're going have to say no to. Try the little cheddar/bacon quiches! Oh, and the coffee is great too. Today (second trip) I had a crushed ice vanilla latte. I wanted to tell me mom how awesome it was, but she passed away decades ago. So I'm telling you, GO THERE!

One of the best bakeries i know! Def be coming here more for the pastries than the coffee but overall quality and service are all great! Super nice that they open 24 hours making late night study sessions significantly more enjoyable:)

I was curious to try this cafe when I saw it’s open 24/7.

I got dark mocha to drink which was delicious. The all-butter croissant was good but didn’t feel it was fresh.

The place has got a variety of cakes, small treats, and savory dishes which I didn’t get to try this time around and I will be back.

Love their Banofee tart and eggnog mousse. Priced right and consistently great service. Their sandwiches are creative but could use some tweaking. For example, anything with lettuce should not be made panini style as the lettuce gets cooked, bitter and somewhat slimy.

Even on a Sunday at 9: 30 pm there’s was a lot of selection. Had the lemon coconut cream donut and the Ultimate Chocolate Ganache Cake. Both amazing and delicious.

We visited the bakery for breakfast. There is a good selection, especially of sweet pastries, but there are few vegetarian sandwiches. As a European, I would also have expected better quality bread, since they advertise that they are a European bakery. Unfortunately, the bread of the sandwiches was rather bland and very greasy. The Berliner (here called strawberry filled donut) was tasty, almost like in Germany, though priced high at just under $3. The staff was mostly nice, but a few of the employees seemed a bit unmotivated.

A bakery and cafe offering a wide variety of mouth watering foodstuffs. Treat your taste buds with great donuts and cakes.
Only downside is the seating capacity and if you are visiting on a Sunday as we did it would be crowded.
As long as food is good it's worth the wait.

Good quality and service was pleasant and fast. It was hard to find a place to sit through, maybe because we wondered in during a rain.

I had to change this. The manager is a nightmare.argues if the order is wrong.my Ritual order sat there until i asked for it.and it was awfull.i asked for a small iced americano in a lrg cup and she gave a large watered down coffee. Coffee is free for you sis! Going elsewhere!

Fast and friendly service! Can't go wrong with Breka. I do wish they had more vegan baked goods though.

Broad range of all kinds of baking: bread, pies, and cakes. I love chocolate eclairs here. The strudels are great as well.

Cute place, real friendly service. Saw good reviews so i stopped by. It was pretty busy so no available tables which is ok I opted for a walk around the neighborhood. Anyway, I ordered a cappuccino and went on my way. Took a sip and it tasted like every single bit of coffee was burnt just to make this drink. So i waked to the next closest coffee shop to throw it out and ordered a new one.

Grab your latte, grab a breakfast cookie and off to Stanley park and the lost lagoon. A must do when we are in Vancouver.

I love getting the desserts here at the Breka Cafe. I quite enjoy the macha puff and it's hard to not order that every time I go. It's nice to know that they're open 24 hours.

I had the pistachio filled doughnut yesterday. It was perhaps the best doughnut I have ever eaten.

Lovely café, friendly staff with a good selection of food and treats. Just disappointed that I got a case of food poisonings after eating their steak and cheese panini. On the bright side, I did lose some weight coming into the summer so that's a positive.

Coffee and cake is good combination.
There is lots of choices of cake and taste very good, not too sweet.

They have the best chocolate almond croissants. They may have other pastries that may be as good, but can only report on croissants.

The food is fine, coffee is good. I find it is a bit pricey, at least for me who has a limited budget.

Over the past month or so the pastries quality has gone down. In two separate occasions the pastries I bough here were stale. The apples in the strudel tasted old, and now the stuffed donuts have barely anything inside. I'm big fan of Breka so I was very happy when I moved one block away grom this location. Their variety is not as big as other locations but the quality seem in line. Now, they lost me. Will check if Breka on Robson and on Davie have followed a similar pattern as well. Hope not.

Worst customer service ever. So rude. Go to the one on Bute. It is 10 minute walk but worth it.

Horrible service! They need to hire people who can ACTUALLY SPEAK ENGLISH! I asked for a side of pesto 10 times and the person tosses me 2 packets of vinegar! I will NOT return!

Amazing pastries, both sweet and savory. Very reasonable prices and the espresso was top notch. Comfortable and inviting seating with pleasant atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place.

I use to stop there and buy fresh baked good that were delicous.not sure what happened but I stopped today bought a Copenhagen. A blueberry scone and a blue berry strudel muffin. I tried both the Copenhagen and scone I threw both in the garbage because they were stale dried out sconewas like a rock.wondering if I should bother taking a night of the muffin.they lost a customer!

The area was clean and the staff were very friendly and kind. I enjoyed the pistachio ganache and it was very smooth and soft.

Delicious savoury and sweet offerings at a reasonable price, 24/7. Cozy spot for a coffee with friendly service.
