Breka Bakery & Café (Hastings)

I went this place at January 1st. Someone stole my bag and they did not so anything! They didn’t even look at the camera recording because of the manager was not there? They just got my number and said ‘We look and call you back’ but did not turn back. All my stuff was in my bag. I will never go to there again!

Food is good, cool how it's 24hr. Don't ever order the food to dine in, there's absolutely nowhere to sit and they don't enforce any rules about how long ppl stay. All seats taken up by kids on laptops not eating or drinking coffee.

I ordered a Ruben sandwich, a Black Forest desert and a large coffee. The sand which was the worst ever … tasted old. The desert had a plastic wrap on it and staff did not remove it, it was stuck hard … crazy glue maybe … staff did not want to remove it, say I have to … asked for refund so the said they would remove the plastic wrap … took 5 minutes even for them! The east was great once I got to it and the coffee was good. Go to one of the other locations, really!

Great location, huge selection and well priced. Some of the items were great and will definitely be back.

We visited during a heat wave and they didn’t appear to have AC it was stifling hot!

Really creepy security guards taking pictures of customers on their phones. It’s not just one security guard but 2 or 3. Every time I come in and sit down they’re peering uncomfortably at other patrons and I was there when a customer confronted a security guard that was taking pictures of their group and they were quite angry. There was one time a guard take a picture of me while in line. Not sure what type of security this is.are they positing it into a WhatsApp group - for what purpose? Anyway.love the pastries but this makes me really uncomfortable.

Food is okay, but workers are worse in this location. If you won’t tip while paying, they will take back the payment machine and reapply the bill so that you will pay them a tip, even for a take-out order.
Not enough vegan/vegetarian options.

Breka is my favorite cafe/bakery in Vancouver. I come from a city with nightlife but Vancouver does not have the same environment. Breka is the only place we found which is 24/7 and we can hang out with our friends there whenever we want. Hastings branch is my favorite Breka because of having some sofas and it is less crowded than Bute branch. The food and pastry in Breka is really great and also cheap. Its staff always offer a smile even in the rush hours and they are so quick to prepare the orders. I go to one of the Breka’s branches almost every week so it’s always my place!

Amazing drinks and service! The staff is incredibly helpful and the desserts are clever and delicious. Open 24 7, great lighting, big windows, great place to work.

Best bakery in Vancouver. As someone who was missing the warmth and variety of German bakeries, this place is heaven-sent! Very reasonably priced, huge selection of cakes and cookies, savory sandwiches and fabulous bread and pastries. It make my office job better, because Brekka is just around the corner.

A little mistake with an order, but nothing serious after that great service and delicious dessert

Breka bakery was very captivating from outside so we decided to walk in. What a surprise. Service is prompt and super friendly for how busy they are, they are doing a good job! The pastry case is super big so take time to look at all the options, lots of good small pieces of cake and cookies. The prices are super good! All you see was around $12. Crazy cheap!
Will definitely recommend and come back!

I love going to Breka for my late-night baked good cravings? This is my favorite location, the new shop is bright and open and located close to waterfront station!

Got the pistachio filled donut, eggnog muffin, lemon shortbread, and lavender latte latte had a strong floral flavour which I absolutely love, donut had a very nutty custard, muffin was scrumptious and cake-like, and shortbread was buttery lemony goodness!

Can’t wait to revisit and try more pastries!

I haven’t been to this location, and I like the atmosphere, but it seems pretty small seating area, I wait for while for available seats, and the staff aren’t cleaning the table every time the costumer changes. When I asked to clean the table to one of the Asian looking staff, her face turned annoyed by my requests. Even though I said thank you, she didn’t make any eye contact and she just ignored me. I had never met the unfriendly staff in any breka’s location. It seems others were looked friendly around. It’s unfortunate she had to react to me that way today. One more thing their visa machine doesn’t work for tap!

I probably would’ve go take out this location.

Super pâtisserie/boulangerie dans Vancouver! J'ai pris un énorme cookie, il était super bon, avec un capuccino miaaam En plus la boutique est super belle et bien placé dans le centre. Aussi le staff est sympa ;) Pardon mais en tant que français le pain n'est pas aussi que chez nous, mais! Il est assez bon quand même:) je conseil pour un petit déjeuner et pâtisserie!

Breka is amazing that it's open 24/7 and their prices are quite reasonable compared to other local bakeries/cafes. I've tried a number of items over several visits. I love their seasonal eggnog latte, pear torte, passion fruit pistachio mousse, strawberry panna cotta, various cookies and peach salad. I'm not a big fan of their popular cream puffs and pistachio donut though - I found them too heavy. The lemon tart was too sour for me as well.

The store itself is quite busy, but the staff are efficient and handles orders with a quick turn around. However, it's almost impossible to get a table so I mostly grab and go.

Overall, it's wonderful that Breka always has something new on the menu. I'm planning my next visit already!

Busy, inviting spot for coffee with an awesome selection of sweet and savory baked goods. A Sunday morning line moved along at a decent pace. There were so many wonderful choices that it was difficult to choose just one thing and some of us didn't! Panini took a looong time to prepare as it was so busy. Everyone really enjoyed their selection of food and drink. Alternate milks available for coffee. Limited seating, but we were lucky to find a spot to sit. Very reasonable prices and the lighting overhead was so cool! Recommend!

Busy location and can be hard to grab seats. Tea bags aren't very durable as we had a peppermint tea bag explode and ended up drinking leaves. Food items were good. Highly recommend the Earl grey cream puffs and frittatas

Service was quick and efficient and we were happy to find a spot to sit. My latte was hot and well made. The Copenhagen was delicious and fresh. Nice atmosphere and the sign says they’re open twenty four hours!

I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and a caramel macchiato for a takeout. It took them 15 minutes to prepare the order. The sandwich was all burnt! It went directly to the garbage bin!

The best about it is that the cafe is open 24/7.
I have tried variety of different deserts along coffee. I really liked strawberry shortcake and tiramisu, and the eclair.
Four other things I tried were absolutely terrible especially the Black Forest cake slice. Wanted to throw up after a bite. So, they went straight to the bin.
Coffees are okay, staff is really friendly, so all the stars are here for them and a couple of those cakes!

Really crowded at weekends and hard to find a table. The coffee latte was really great. And pastries were good. Ordered hazelnut macchiato sweets and apple with some fillo dough (not remember the name) both were good. Recommend this place

Don’t leave Vancouver without a visit to Breka! This cafe/bakery is incredible and the prices are unbelievably reasonable! Excellent paninis, pastries and coffee selection. Very popular so get there early to avoid the long lines!

I'd gladly sacrifice someone's 1st born to Cthulhu to get a branch to open near my house. Great selection of pastries, sandwiches, breads, and good espresso to boot!

For the price point, the ambiance and quality of food is *chef’s kisses*. MWAH!

Would recommend the chipotle pocket and chocolate eclair.

This 24-hour Sandwich shop & bakery was my go-to place while staying at the Auberge Hotel down the street on the opposite corner. Loved the various sandwich and dessert choices. Only drawback (also a plus) was the large number of college students doing homework and taking most of the seating in the late evenings.

Best apple fritter I have ever had and it was 1/2 the price and 2x the siE I thought it would be!
