Breka Bakery & Café (Davie)

This is the worst Breka location. By far. The staff here are slow and some are rude. With 3 staff working and me being only the 2nd person in a 2 person line up waited 20 minutes before leaving without ordering because they are busy counting cookies and folding food boxes taste that should be done between serving customers.

When I asked what’s taking so long a homeless man taking refuge for the price of a cookie and cup of water steps up smelling like roses starts making a big deal like he owns the place. If you wanna Breka full of drinks and homeless with rude slow staff this is your location

Also they bake everything smaller. They so cheap they even cut the pickle slices in half.

Busy for a 9pm Thursday, but not surprised for the quality and service they provide. Will be back here again.

I had gotten a cake and some various dessert the last time I came and I have to say the food was great and atmosphere even better. However, I made another trip tonight, excited to try something new for a special occasion, but it turn out to be closed. The place said it was open 24 hours, and the door was unlocked. I was then treated like I was breaking into the store and I was quickly rushed out with them telling me to come back the next morning. I would be understanding if there was some explanation or sympathy, but their response was extremely disrespectful.

Had the best chocolate custard donut I have ever eaten. Delicious. The pecan tart and latte tasted great too, but my god the donut was heavenly.

Breka is a staple bakery and will hit the spot for those of us whose sweet tooth has no mercy even in the late hours of the night or early morning. I've been many times since moving to Yaletown and will continue to work through their menu items.

The cheddar sourdough is fantastic and I love that they slice it for you. The baguette is a generous size and good for bruschetta or other similar bite size dishes.

The egg sandwich is underwhelming. It's on a brioche type bun with sesame seeds. The egg salad is tasty but could use something to accompany it. Maybe greens? Tomato? A pickle? Missed opportunity really as on its own it's quite bland.

The donuts are delicious, especially the cake donuts. Melt in your mouth good. As for the many pastries and cakes, I have only tried a select few but I can confidently say if you are a fruit lover like me, any of the fruit tarts or mousse cakes will be delicate, with balanced and complimentary flavors. A summer favorite was the passion fruit tart with pistachio and raspberry. My partner is also a huge fan of the tiramisu.

As for the space itself, it is almost always busy with a bit of a line (which usually moves quick, so a peak at the menu in advance doesn't hurt) or groups of people seated at the tables enjoying drinks and delicious breka food. It's a great hangout spot, or a stopover on your way to work or if you need a quick bite at lunch.

Yummy all the little cakes but triamisu is my best. Must go there and try it once, you will not regret it. As well as for the cleanileness its 5/5.

The tastiest coffees and pastries! Great little spot to meet up with friends or grab a little sweet treat!

The food is great, BUT! The training of the staffs are confusing! I ordered from uber at midnight several times, and the staff kept telling me to get my order inside and outside, each time is different! A guy can ask me to get my order inside while I'm waiting outside, and a girl can ask me to get my order outside while I'm waiting inside for almost 10 minutes! There's no sign for pick up orders and all the staffs gave me a different version every time, is it hard to let the customers know where to pick up? And I'm already inside the store, looking at my order been prepared already, and the staff just told me to pick it up outside! Why can't you just hand me my order? I'm already in front of you! Please tell all your staffs where the customers can pick up their orders, or just make a sign!

Breka Bakery is an absolute must try for anyone in Vancouver. Open 24/7 you'll often find this location filled with people and late at night it seems to be host to college and university students looking for a nice place to study or work on their projects.

The selection at this location is vast. Lots of beautiful and delicious pastries to choose from. Feeling a slice of Classic New York Cheescake or perhaps a Matcha Puff? All their deserts are fairly reasonably priced and size. I never feel dissatisfied coming here.

Breka also has a delicious variety of sandwiches that can be optionally grilled to be served warm and fresh. With vegetarian options as well for those looking! The sandwiches are also very respectfully priced and very delicious and filling.

Of course it wouldn't be a cafe without a good variety of coffee choices and smaller desserts such as cookies and muffins.

Overall Breka is definitely a must try and this location makes sure to keep everything neat and tidy. From the displays to the floors and tables being clean as well as the staff being very sweet and welcoming there is much to look forward to at Breka on Davie.

Such good food! From their pastries, savory sandwiches, to various assortments of coffee, it was all excellent! Would absolutely recommend if ever you visit Vancouver!

Without a doubt one of the best donuts I ever tried in Vancouver. They also have savoury sandwiches and their coffee is delicious! I love that they are open 24 hours!

Breka, whats happing over there? You were my go to spot for after hours cravings. I came in early this morning and picked up a few donuts. Got home only to find a quality of donut that could only be best described as two day old 7-11 counter donuts. Did not even eat them. Like seriously. Get it together over there. It takes a bit of effort for me to get to your shop, so the disappointment as palatable. Happens again, I will not be back.

Amazing baked goods. I had a white hot chocolate, breakfast croissant, and an apple fritter (for later). Apple fritter was phenomenal. The breakfast croissant was disappointing and the white hot chocolate was not great. Go here for baked goods not breakfast

I love the desserts/pastries here. There's a good variety and they're some fancy choices too. The sandwiches are also a good choice. One of surprising benefits of this place is that it's 24hrs, so it's a great alternative to your McDonalds or other fast food chain.

The food is great! I had a chicken panini, a brownie and a latte. I would definitely recommend this place!

Busy bakery on Davie with lots of pastry and drink selection.

However not the best cafe experience as it was very disorganized. We understand that staff were trying to expedite the orders. We were in (a long) line and felt rushed to make an order as we didn’t fully see our choices in the display case.

Our coffees and pastries were ready at different times while we were in line. The Barista was yelling out order numbers; the person who took my order did not inform me of my order number was. I left the line briefly to set our drinks and food down on a table, came back to pay for our order and the cashier did not seem happy. Nonetheless, our order was not hot by the time the bill was settled.

Tables were not wiped in between guests. Nobody was checking proof of vaccinations for dine in.

I would not recommend coming to the cafe during busy times.

Stumbled upon this cafe by accident and was a fan favourite amount our group over our entire visit. We almost came everyday we were visiting. Highly recommend!

This place is great, fairly clean considering how busy they are, they’re open 24/7 and both coffee and pastries are fantastic

I had terrible experience in this morning.

I ordered a coffee and a sausage roll, and I got my coffee right away. After 5 min, I was still waiting for my roll, so I asked a staff to make sure it was coming. She said YES, so I had to wait more.

I waited another 3 min, even I was the only customer who is waiting for a pastry. At the same time a bus that I need to get on was coming in 2 min. So I asked again, and a SECURITY came to me. He asked what was my order, and checked if it's coming with another staff.

Surprisingly, the order was not even taken. But I couldn't wait another few minutes, I really needed to go, so I just grabbed a COLD roll and left.

I'm still curious, why she answered yes.

It is great, perfect place to work on your laptop, great coffee. The only sad thing is that they don't have many vegan options it was tough looking at all those delicious pastries and not being able to eat them

Amazing coffee, great ambience. A lot of cute and tasty looking desserts.
The best part is its open 24 ×7.

Was told they would call my number after 15min. They forgot my sandwich completely. Stood there for 30 minutes. I got a refund. Heating the sandwich actually only takes 3 minutes after that.

I cant belive they cant fix the OUTLET at Davie location!

The environment and the vibe of the bakery is so nice. When I was standing in the line to give order the lady already asked me what I want to order so they can get start making the order right away. I really liked the areas and you don’t have to wait for too long. From presentation. To taste everything is so perfect I love their fruit parfait but they stop making it now I love their white mocha with the whip cream. It’s delicious. Their strawberry cheesecake is so good that I couldn’t stop myself from eating it and I ordered one more. The staff is nice and their sitting area was properly clean like there was nothing on the floor or on the tables. Overall good experience. Must try their spinach and artichoke sandwich it’s flavorous.

Honestly, I've never experienced such rude service because I ordered an ICED Americano Misto (they don't do the "Misto"). It wasn't my first time ordering this either at this location. I understand these are tough times, I work in health care nearby and have supported this place, BUT please, be more kind.

I was in Vancouver for a week and I went to break almost every day. Extremely delicious and friendly staff. The Kahlua chocolate cake is to die for.

I love this place. The bakery is heaven on earth, staff are real nice, even when always busy. Place has great customer service. And a friendly old world charm. Cakes are addictive, esp.matcha cream puff and almond croissant!

Your usual 24 hour bakery. Berry cheesecake and sausage roll were both lacking in flavor. Fast service; have your order ready before you get to the front of the line!

Awful service! I ordered using the Ritual App and they only gave me half my order! I didn't notice until I got to work so I called them right away. They admitted to the mistake, however they refused to refund for the portion I never got and I couldn't leave to go pick up the other half of my order. They said I can come another day and get a free sandwich. Not free at all, I have paid for it!

EDIT 5/6/2021 - I never heard back from anyone at Breka but after posting this review I did get a refund from Ritual. So I have improved by star rating form 1 star to 3 stars.

I've never been disappointed with there product. Only disappointment is I don't get there soon enough.

Was refused service today as I had to bring my bike, which wasn't an issue 3 days ago. Always loved going there to grab something sweet, they also used to have the best deal on flat whites. Now my heart is broken.

I love Breka at Haro and Bute, the scones are to die for. The big apple fritters, and lots of wonderful items. A neat area a closed off street and great place to enjoy a coffee and treats.

Great. Was pleasantly surprised. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Good selection of bakery products. I will recommend. I will go back.

Not sure what all the hype is about. Coffee and desserts look great but have almost no flavour at all. I Would rather have a latte from Tim Hortons and that's saying a lot.

Ordered the European blueberry cheesecake and the Bienenstich and both were delicious even with my lack of a sweet tooth.

Can here for coffee and cakes. Was pretty busy and staff was a bit overwhelmed and almost confused. Lack of leadership I guess. I had 3 people serve me, just at the till! And each one was unaware that the other one took my order. Another point, I ordered a chocolate eclair and the chocolate was so hard you just squashed all the cream out of it when you tried to eat it. Not very practical. The place itself looked really clean and had a vibrant atmosphere. The coffee was nice and so was the forest cake, and the sandwiches looked tempting and plenty to choose from.

4 star o ly because it's so busy. Which obviously means it's good. Give yourself some time to wait in line.

A solid coffeeshop. Amazing bakery. The Donuts are without exaggerating unmatched by anywhere else. Open 24hr. A good study spot if the neverending loop of 1950s shoobop bubblegum oldies doesn't make you want to cut off your ear after 10 minutes. CHANGE THE #$%$@ING MUSIC ALREADY! It's been 6 years. How bout something contemporary or even classical. Hell I'd take Opera. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Out of this world coffee and pastries. It's a must stop to start the day properly in Vancouver. Staff is efficient and polite, they seem to have quite a following and for a reason.

Really decent alternative to the stamped out Timmy's when in Vancouver. They have a few locations. Not sure all are 24 hours

This place was awesome and the lattes and food were amazing. Would definitely go back if I'm in the area again!

Has many tables to eat inside. Foods and drinks are good and reasonable prices. Staffs are always fast and kind.

Great little spot that’s away from the tourist crowd. Busy during lunch hour due to weather location near office buildings.

A 24 hour coffee shop that offers sweet treats and a warm space to hangout.

One of Breka's now 3 cafes located downtown, Breka offers a cozy coffee house to grab a small treat or a fair sized sandwich. Surprisingly enough, the treats here are really good considering the value type of setting. The Dulce de Léche Donut, Apple Fritter, NY Cheesecake, Apple Strudel and Red Velvet Cake are all worth trying. The value is definitely there in each treat with the Apple Strudel being a nice option to takeaway, warm-up in the oven and serve as a dessert (you can also pretend like you made it).

Despite being known for its treats, the shop also offers a wide variety of bread that can challenge some of the other bakeries for being your go-to weekly destination for a loaf of fresh bread.

As advertised, this cafe is open 24 hours and has ample room for those who are looking to study late into the night or grab a coffee at 2 AM to sober up after a night of clubbing. If you are indeed trying to study, write, or in general be productive I'd advise you to bring a pair of headphones (better yet noise cancelling ones) as it can get a little busy in here at times. The location is a small and cozy but given it's location its sufficient. The draw back of the location is that it doesn't allow for a patio.

The bottom line is the treats and breads make this shop a worthwhile visit especially on late nights and date nights.

I am bakery addicted. Here u have everything what your heart wants. I am German and I was soooo in love with the “applestrudel” and “Bienenstich”.
The staff is always friendly. And opened for 24/7, what do u want more?

Our cab driver told us to come here on our way for YVR, such a great suggestion. Had the tofu and walnut pesto melt, so divine and the coffee mugs are huge. Speedy service and the cafe itself is welcoming. Can see why they are so highly recommended. Haven’t yet had any sweets here but shall do ASAP.

Good cozy place to study. However i feel like they are trying to get rid of student customers by getting rid of power outlets. It's not just this location, i've noticed all locations are doing it. Dirty move Breka.

Breka has some good coffees and selection of items. Open till late, it's a good place to write that novel or go on your Tinder date. I like the poppy seed pastry. Interesting cake that I only found in Europe before.
